I was really vacillating between 4 and 5 stars here since my final rating for this place is 4.5/5. I'm choosing to rate this 5 stars at the end because of high potential, great staff and hearty food! This indoor restaurant is close to the streets of Rainier Ave and there is unmarked parking all along S Grand St you can utilize, but it can be nearly full like on the Saturday noon around 12:30pm I came here with parents. It is in the same building as the Melody Jabooda Apartments, and is pretty compact inside. There's several small tables inside than can fit a max of 3 people, yet the interior muffles the bulk of the noisy traffic on Rainier Ave. There's some decor on the walls and near the counter where the kitchen is, and the counter to order is almost directly in front of the entrance. Phone reception inside was iffy, as I had to go outside the building to check into here on the Yelp app. Seating was full, mostly from patrons ordering and taking their goods to go but with some actually dining in. For a place that serves banh mi, they also have pho, bun, Vietnamese coffee, lattes and matcha drinks. Several of the drinks are also available in hot formats, and all drinks cost the same except for Vietnamese coffee and lattes which cost $1.95 and $1 less before tax, respectively. There are different price tags for the hot drinks. Banh mi sandwiches also come in bags that look like they could be used for roasted coffee beans - they're dark brown and are about the same size as store-bought coffee bean bags. What a coincidence given they also serve coffee! We got many things from here: - Old school Vietnamese coffee ($7, hot): according to my dad (and me after having several sips), this unfortunately tasted more like American coffee; it was missing sweetened condensed milk to make it more like so, and the coffee itself wasn't strong. It seems regular milk was used as the sweetener instead. - Oolong house blend ($8.95): your standard milk tea. I added both grass jelly and tapioca onto this. Mom liked this and had no complaints; I had a sip and thought it was pretty good too. - Grilled pork banh mi sandwich ($9.95, medium toast): I partially shared this one with my mom. Grilled pork is all right at best, otherwise it has all the works of a great banh mi. We'd still prefer the one from Q Bakery for now. - Butterfly matcha: the butterfly pea flower in this drink created a blue hue inside the drink in its own layer and essentially enhanced the ceremonial matcha taste a lot more, since it tasted more woody and earthier than usual once I mixed everything. It's also sweet enough to satisfy any matcha lover out there. I loved this drink a lot and would highly recommend! - House special banh mi sandwich ($10.95, medium toast): this sandwich is much larger than I expected, and comes with Vietnamese ham, pork ham, pate, jalapeños and what looked like Chinese sausage along with the same works as the grilled pork. Everything went well together and it was loaded! All meats were fresh and just this sandwich alone made me really full. Another high recommend! I really appreciated the staff for asking all the clarifying questions for our banh mi sandwiches and drinks, like how toasted we wanted our sandwiches, the sweetness and ice levels of our drinks, and toppings for those drinks. They also let me and other patrons in line know of wait times for our food, with my order being quoted about 15 minutes and coming out by that timeframe. This place has been open since September of last year, and they have a decked out menu for anyone wanting to grab both food and drink. Oh yeah banh mi spot that's definitely worth a stop even if you're just coming in for drinks. We had just eaten, so we skipped the sandwiches this time and went straight for something refreshing. The strawberry jasmine green tea was light, fragrant, and not overly sweet, while the salted plum calamansi jasmine tea had that perfect balance of tangy, citrusy, and slightly savory super refreshing and honestly hit the spot. The space itself is nicely decorated with a cozy, modern vibe, and the customer service was great friendly, quick, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Only downside is the place is a bit on the smaller side, so seating can feel limited if it gets busy. I don't usually write reviews, but this place absolutely deserves a few minutes of my time. Hands down, they have the best pho I've ever tried. The ribs and brisket pho is my favorite. I also went for the salmon and roast duck sandwiches with a mango matcha, and everything was just consistently great. They use freshly cut fruits in their drinks, and you can taste the difference immediately. What really makes the experience even better is the staff. They make you feel like family the moment you walk in. The shop sits right in front of Grand Street Commons (Apartments) real easy to find, and they're even dog‑friendly, which is rare in Seattle. When the weather is nice, there's a table outside where you can enjoy your favorite food with a Vietnamese old‑school coffee. Everything I've tried here has been amazing. Ambiance - As soon as you walk in you're hit with the giant menu and the ordering counter. This is a smaller space with 2 small tables on the inside, and about 4 more outdoors. This place is definitely geared towards take out. Food - We tried their drinks, chicken banh mi and beef pho. The taro ube coffee was delicious, and not too sweet. The chicken banh mi was really good as well. They're pretty loaded and definitely one of the better ones in the area. The Pho wasn't our favorite. Got the grilled pork banh mi and my partner got the lemongrass beef vermicelli bowl today- to go. All the ingredients were put together to order and were very fresh. They also let me choose if I wanted the bun on the softer side or toasted - that's a level of banh mi customization I'm not used to They also have pho and a bunch of fun drinks on the menu but we didn't get to those yet. The staff were really friendly and responsive when we asked to not include a particular ingredient. The wait for the food was really reasonable even though there was a line inside, I think they also do a lot of online order ahead- there's lots of new apartments in this building and across the street so a new small business serving up something you can eat on the go is gonna be busy. Only thing I'd advise, and this is something the restaurant has no control over, is to be prepared to find a parking space that may include a little walk, but hey- worth it. read more

I went here after a run at Seward Park and it definitely was a fun post run treat! I got the pork banh mi which was full of delicious and fresh ingredients! They also allow you to customize how toasted you wanted the banh mi and I thought the low level was perfect! I also got a mango smoothie which was refreshing to go with my banh mi but there are tons of other delicious drinks on the menu! So blessed to finally be able to try this little gem! I was in the area and I made it a mission to stop here to try a childhood favorite which is simple yet layered with umami flavors. That's basically it, this Banh Mi shop needs all the support and love from everyone because it is SPECTACULAR! The menu is short and sweet with a few sandwich options and sprinkled in there are some vermicelli bowls (which can be substituted with rice instead of noodles) and lastly some pho. I ordered the house special , grilled chicken & lemongrass beef. All 3 were delicious with just the right amount of ingredients so you're not heavily one sided or something completely takes over. I also tried their Vietnamese iced coffees and they too were super delicious! Not sure what it is that makes it different but it has a nice twist in there but it stays true to the classic. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because you can tell this place cares about what they do even if it mostly consists of making sandwiches but the fact that when you receive your order from the packaging to the care of them wrapping everything up nicely when you open and take out the goodness it's just unmatched nowadays where people don't really care or think about that extra thought. They also let you choose how you like your bread from soft medium and crunchy. I opted for best of both worlds and chose medium and to me that is the best. I want to say they make everything in house which is another great point. I didn't expect much coming to the place today but the food was actually really good. Yes it is a bit pricer than other banh mi shop around the area but the portion is almost double like heavy. I think the bread to the banh mi was good but the toppings really lacked quality and if you pay between $10-12 for one banh mi here compared to other Vietnamese places at $5-7 I think it needs to improve. The drinks were good but overall for $45 for 2 banh mi and 2 drinks could be average for this economy but to me pricey especially if the toppings like the pate was stale and lacked quality . read more
