I'm not sure if it's that the quality of the pho at the downtown location is inherently worse but this Pho Bac location was miles better. I did get another dish here though, the pho sa te, which I believe is not on the menu at the downtown location. Regardless, I highly recommend getting this pho, it was super flavorful with a heavy peanut flavor and plenty of spice (if you can't handle spice, ask for less spice or don't get it bc it's quite spicy). It also comes with a lot of meat and noodles that both go quite nicely with the broth. Service leaves a bit to be desired, I kind of just sat down anywhere and then had to call over a waiter to get my order. The interior is pretty dark and honestly matches the vibe of the area (not a good thing). 4.5/5
The portion size was just right, plenty of noodles and a generous amount of meat without feeling overwhelming. It was filling and satisfying overall. As for the flavor, the broth leaned a bit too salty for my taste. The depth was there, but the saltiness slightly overpowered the balance I usually look for in pho. The location felt a little sketchy, so if you're driving, I wouldn't leave anything visible in your car, just something to be mindful of. I believe this restaurant shares ownership with The Boat and Pho Bac Sup restaurant, which is interesting given their reputation in the local pho scene.
Definitely the best of the Pho Bac locations in Seattle! The store is big and open with bright light shining through the windows. There's a decent amount of parking, compared to the International District location. They have clean gender neutral bathrooms. They are super efficient with placing and fulfilling orders - our pho came out within 5 minutes of ordering! The pho ga (chicken pho) was soooo delicious! FYI it's made with beef broth. Compared to typical boiled chicken at other pho places, this chicken is grilled so it added extra flavor to the broth. It's also super tender and juicy compared to the typical dry boiled chicken at other places. This is one of the best bowls of pho I've had, tied with the veggie pho I had at the International District location. I definitely want to come back and try the veggie pho at this location!
If a Vietnamese restaurant constantly has people coming in and out to eat their stuff, you know the food's gonna be fresh and good for the stomach! This is one of those places, and I'm happy that it's not too much of a drive either. I came here with my sis on a Tuesday noon around 11:30pm for some lunch, and got seated quickly to a spacious seating area with tons of tables for mostly groups of up to 4 people. Vietnamese music was blasting from the speakers but not at an unbearably loud volume, and I Shazamed a couple of them because they sounded really good. That being said, it gets noisy in here the more people there are since sound vibrates around the inside. Their menu has many choices for pho, though prices are different only depending on whether you get a regular or large bowl. They also have appetizers, vermicelli noodle bowls (bun), extra add-ons and drinks. I got their large pho tai nam gan sach (pho with rare steak, brisket, tendon and tripe), while my sis got their regular pho tai bo vien (pho with rare steak and meatballs). Pho's usually standard, though I liked this one a lot since their broth is fresh and homely, the noodles were cooked all the way through, and the food came out really fast. We also split an order of cha gio (fried eggrolls), which comes with only 2 of them though both are long pieces. These were piping hot and crispy on the outside. This place has become one of my favorite spots to get pho. This place has parking on the side of the building but it's pretty limited, and street parking a little farther ahead may be difficult to get through. I'd still brave it since the food here's plain and simple while also keeping you full.
I actually decided last minute that I was going to hop off the link light rail train to have lunch with my daughter at Mt Baker station. Pho Bac is actually the closest restaurant because I didn't want to wander too far away from the train station. Anyway, the restaurant itself is cool. It's spacious seating with clean interior. You must be OK with Vietnamese music blasting in the background because you're eating at a Vietnamese restaurant... after all. The waiter was prompt with my simple order of raw beef Pho and spring rolls. Additionally, I ordered one thing of fried egg rolls for my daughter because she loves fried egg rolls. Everything was good and fresh. 10/10 recommend.
First- this is one of our go-to pho spots in the neighborhood, it's usually open when our other spots are not and it's one of the best. I've been seeing some negative reviews about service and I disagree - they are busy, they are focused, and the food comes out really fast. Prices haven't gone up too much despite the rising costs of protein and they list slightly lower prices if you pay with cash. They made a big upgrade to the interior a couple years back and while I miss the local charm of the old dining area the current space is spacious, clean, and modern
There's street parking and some spots right next to the building. Ordering is quick and easy and they have a bunch of meat combos for pho for choose from. Loved their broth and amount of meat was pretty good too Large #10 with brisket, fatty brisket, and tendon: good amount of meat, tasty broth, tender tendon. Overall a solid bowl of pho and I'd come here again! I just wish they had a choice of slightly wider rice noodles, I think that would be AMAZING with their meat and broth.
Pho was fire. Bow was full of meats. Fast service. It doesn't feel as upscale as the other location but the food is what matters to me. I had no idea this one existed for years... lol So thankful someone told me to try to the original location because I was commited to the other one in Chinatown
I prefer this pho bac it's like a sister store as it's owned by relatives of the main one on Jackson. However it's always busy when I go and the broth is really good! They always have parking and two unique soups to this location. One is a stir fried chicken and the other is a spicy beef belly. My go to pho spot in Seattle.
They passed the broth test, but I feel like they don't put enough meat. I do like that they have the onions w/vinegar. They are busy so they have a good customer base. If they just condensed their menu and added more meats to the bowls they would get a 5 star out of me.
Was a recommend stop by a local friend while in town and so glad we did!! The food we extremely delicious. The service was quick and the menu isn't too overwhelming. I tried the dry noodle with beef broth and beef and it had great flavor! We also had a side of the egg rolls which came out great. Very happy with it. My husband did get the beef rib which was slightly inconvenience to eat since the meat doesn't fall off the bone.
One of my favorite places to get pho. They sell Viet coffee from hello em. They also have huge spring rolls here. Very large seating area, and fast service. I highly recommend.
Delicious pho on a cold day, and the portion sizes are big! The price difference between the small and large is less than $1, so I ordered the large, and it was huge! The broth is very flavorful and I'm glad I ordered the large size, as there were so many noodles and it was filling. I was there on a Friday night and it was busy, but there were still plenty of space available for guests. The staff were very friendly and attentive and I didn't have to wait long for my food. I'm looking forward to coming back on another cold day!
This was the best pho I have ever had. SO flavorful. SO delicious. I ate way too much and I want to eat 100 more bowls. Casual atmosphere that seemed like a little respite from a busy day exploring the city. Would definitely eat here again if given the chance. read more

Hello flavor city! We had been craving pho and are so glad we stopped by Pho Bac! Broth is hella flavorful and portions are large! A regular bowl really fills you up! It comes with all the toppings and add ons as expected. Choose your own spicy adventure with sriracha, sambal or chili oil. Simple and clean layout and friendly and attentive service. Bathrooms are also spotless and for customers only. read more

Beware: 20% for party of 6 or larger for pho and plus 3% for credit card transaction. I don't think so. Seriously! Its bare minimal service. Trying to recoup cost for the remodel? I think 15% for a large party is more reasonable for this simple casual pho establishment. My party got up and left. Plenty of pho places in Seattle to support. read more
The interior is clean and minimalistic. There's not much sound absorption in the restaurant, so it can be noisy. I like how they bring a container of water to the table, so you can pour and refill your own water. The pho was delicious. The broth was flavorful and meat was fresh and plentiful. The egg rolls were good and crispy but overpriced (2 rolls for $7). 3% credit card fee, cash and debit have no transaction fee. There's parking in their lot. read more

CASH ONLY I stopped by here after work to get my husband some pho since he is feeling under the weather . We heard that this place is the place to go for pho around this area . I ordered a pho Dac biet and chow mien noodles for my kids . Pho: i think it is a little pricey $14 dollars for the amount of pho noodles they give us . The pho today was a little salty . I am known as the person in the family that eats really salty, therefore if I think this pho was too salty for me than it must be really salty for people that do not eat a lot of salt on a regular basis. Chow mien: if you look at the picture ... that is definitely not chow mien. This is literally ramen noodle and therefore I was really disappointed to see that . I felt like I had pho from here before and do not remembered it being this salty so maybe they were having an off day today. However, to claim that you have chow mien noodles but make it with ramen noodle is pretty bleh . read more
PSA: it's CASH ONLY!!! I had one goal during my trip to Seattle, WA: find some worthy pho! I love Eugene but the Asian cuisine is sparse and you could say I've been severely deprived. I am so grateful to have visited Pho Bac -- a family owned and operated Vietnamese restaurant that I can assure you is LEGIT. The menu was extremely simple, as they only offer pho and vermicelli bowl options along with some traditional tea drinks. The ambiance reminded me of a meal for a special occasion at my grandma's house; there were generations of this family contributing to cooking and serving customers. The prices were very reasonable ($14-15 for a medium or large bowl of pho) and the service was very fast. I got the large #4 rare steak and brisket pho. I was impressed with the quality and quantity of the meat, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The mint, lime, jalapeño, and bean sprouts were fresh and the broth was full of flavor. Though Pho Bac is located a bit off the beaten path, I can assure you it is worth a visit if you ever find yourself looking for authentic pho in Seattle. The food came out fairly quickly & broth was nice & hot. I like my salt & msg, but the soup was really too salty. Tongue still a little tingly from msg as well. Portions are fair for the price. If you like more meat, then get the regular size & order extra meat. read more

Food hit the spot, still a staple for 30+ years of consistency. Service was slow with a 90% full dining area. My table was not fully cleaned before I was seated. Location recently reopened after long remodel. Remodel was worth the wait. Clean white open space. Matching furnishings, settings and decor are streamlined. Door entrance moved facing Rainier Avenue (old entry has nice greenery). Lowered counter space where staff takes orders & process pickups and payment. Bathrooms totally upgraded and have keycode entry for each stall- very secure setting. Credit cards accepted with 3% processing fee, no fee if cash/debit card (noted at top of menu). Hours are 8am-9pm. Glad to see you back in the neighborhood PB! read more

I've had the best pho here but i've also had the worst food poisoning here too. So on average, I rated it a solid "good" which equates to 4/5. The food poisoning was awhile back with the shrimp tumeric noodles and I know for sure it as from here because out of a large group, only those who got this noodle was infected. Brought back memories back to SE Asia when I literally could not leave the bathroom. Regardless, on other occasions when I mustered the courage to try this place again, I was not disappointed (and no stomach issues this time!). The broth was flavorful, meat melted right off the bone, and aromatics were so flavorful I was very happy. Many of my friends do enjoy this place and I can see why. It's frequently busy so I would try to go in during the off hours. Parking got a little hectic in the small lot, but nonetheless it is worth a trip. read more

Loved coming here for the first time after hearing about it for so long! Tried the Long Rib Soup and it was absolutely delicious. It's their signature item on the menu here and saw most people here ordering it. The vibe here seems pretty quick, almost like a quick place to eat in a way. Pretty simple interior, just straight to the point. Come in, eat quick, fast service and I was out the door pretty quick. The taste was definitely top notch for the soup and meat. read more

Last weekend in Seattle, so decided to go on a food tour on the best local places in Seattle recommended by friends -- and Phó Bác does not disappoint!! From the Bay Area, so I've grown up with a plentiful selection of solid pho, but Pho Bac definitely makes it on my top tier list of best places I've eaten. If you're looking for fine dining, this isn't the spot to go, but if you're craving real, authentic pho for actual affordable prices, come down! Food (5/5): it's so rare to find a pho place that actually cooks the meat perfectly, but Pho Bac has super tender, melt in your mouth worth meat. I usually need to tear it apart with my teeth sometimes or it just feels super dry, but that wasn't the case here! Broth is also super beefy and yummy. Service (5/5): we were seated right away, ordered quickly, and the staff even automatically brought a second bowl for us since we only ordered one to split. There is a pho bac at home for 5 minutes and 3 minutes by car. I asked their boss and said they are the same owner but the menu is different. Cash only. Although Vietnamese classmates said this is not that tasty and is too sweet, but I thought it was not bad, at least better than the few phos near the campus. The environment is a bit poor. I chose beef bone meal today: super solid beef bone soup, fresh and sweet, the meat can be easily torn off, it has a little fishy smell. I always feel fishy when I eat American meat. We were lucky and got seated immediately in a group of 8. The server was very friendly and joked with us making us feel at home. I ordered the beef bone pho (pho suon bo). The soup was amazing and they even brought a small bowl of fatty gelatinous broth which amped it up a notch. The beef was very tender and came right off the bone absorbing all that delicious broth. This will definitely be a must stop for me for any Seattle trip. The only gripe is that they were cash only. read more
At first we thought we came to the wrong place. The restaurant looks shabby and a little scary I would say. However don't let that deter you. It is nice, decent, and spacious inside. The staff are very attentive and very soft spoken, very unusual for most Vietnamese restaurant or at least ones in California. We ordered one beef rib pho, one rare and fatty brisket pho, and a Chinese doughnut. I'm very critical when it came to pho and especially the broth, the heart and soul of this dish. I must give this place a 5 stars as the broth was tasty, rich, and that aromatic. There was no need for hoisin sauce for enhancements. The bowls came steaming hot, which I like. The beef rib was a little dry but the meat fell off the bone. Though it was good but it was not my husband's favorite. I loved mine with rare steak on a side and good amount of brisket, which I had to share since I would not be able to eat all. The Chinese doughnut was warm and crispy as it should. I ordered the beef dry pho. I was really excited to come here. We were assigned to a table with a spill of siracha on the seat, and the water was contaminated with food? I think? The noodle to meat ratio was lacking as well. For half of the meal I was eating plain noodles and green onion because the meat portion was lacking. My friends had a good time though and I'd give this place a second try. Though, the restaurant is very cute and the menu has a minimalist style which is adorable. read more
One of the best bowls I've had in awhile. I don't normally crave pho in Seattle anymore because most pho taste mediocre but this place changed my mind. It was a really flavorful pho broth that didn't taste generic like many other places. Admittedly, I was really hungry coming here and waiting for pho with a party of 7 took awhile, so it might be just my empty stomach talking. Nonetheless, I look forward to coming back again! This place is amazing. They have some of the best chicken! I've honestly never had anything better. The mango chicken I highly recommend oh my goodness. I also won a giveaway via Instagram and got free boba! I got the guava fruit tea with boba. It came with fresh diced strawberries, basil seeds delicious boba. The container is similar to a soda which is just so cute and different. Would Definitely come back. Also, they serve one of the best pho's in the area right across. Wow. I think I just found my new favorite pho place in Seattle!! I'm usually very picky about pho places because 1) the broth lacks flavor or 2) there is so much MSG in the broth it sends me to the bathroom mid-eating/right after eating. Pho Bac probably has the best pho broth I've had in Seattle and very well in a long time from any restaurant. The veggies are fresh and the meat is cooked to perfection - not overly done. The bowls come in two sizes- medium and large and the portions are very filling and have a great meat to noodle ratio. Unfortunately had to dock it down a star due to the cleanliness of the place- definitely could be improved. The customer service was great, our food came out pretty fast! Oh yeah it is CASH ONLY but they do have an atm inside. read more
