I cannot say enough good things about Westerly and their meal delivery service. I have been a subscriber with them for about six months now, and I have never has any issues. Their website is easy to use, and on the few occasions I've had to speak with customer service regarding a question about pausing an order or with help in regards to accommodating a nut allergy, they have been quick to respond, incredibly friendly, and very helpful. Now, let's talk about the food. Absolutely delicious! I love that they have a good mix of interesting cuisines, and that every meal is gluten and dairy free. Over the course of the six months that I have been a subscriber, I've only had about five or six meals that I didn't personally care for, and that wasn't because they weren't good, just my own personal preference. Lunch is always a delicious salad of some form (with a protein), and twice a week lunch also comes with a delicious soup. Their dressings are always so yummy, and you'd never guess they are dairy free! The dinners are SO good! I'd pick a favorite, but honestly, there have been too many to name here. Additionally, there is enough variety and variance in their menu that I've never felt bored with my meals, even after six months. I love that their packaging is 100% compostable, even the stickers they use! Another bonus is that they reuse the bags and ice packs they deliver your food in. On the days that I have a food delivery from them, I simply set the previous order's bag and ice packs outside, and they take it with them after dropping off my new order. I really love this. I have used other services in the past, but I hated all of the waste from the weekly packaging and trying to dispose of the used ice packs. I should also mention that deliveries come twice a week, so your food is always extremely fresh, and the handful of rotating delivery drivers they use are all incredibly friendly and professional. Pricing wise, I actually spend less than I do at the grocery store. I think this is because when I'm at the grocery store, I'm often tempted by all of the snacks and goodies in front of my eyes, and end up putting way more in my basket than I actually need. The delivery service is good. They're always on time with deliveries. That's good. I like the lunch salads. Decent variety, easy, healthy. Periodic soups included are welcome. We will stick with the salads because they're convenient and taste good. If you need a plant-based diet, there's some good variety which is welcome, as the diet can be limiting. If you need that, it works well. But if you eat the regular "wellness" food, that's another story. For breakfast, their food is really underwhelming. A scoop of eggs, sometimes dry pastry, a patty of sausage sometimes, a microscopic cup of fruit sometimes. There are occasionally beans in the mix, which is pretty unappetizing for breakfast. Not in any way worth the money. For dinner, it's gross most of the time. The meat is fatty and overcooked. Almost always it's filled with greasy rice and overcooked broccoli. They need to *completely* rethink the menu. I feel absolutely terrible throwing away food, but I've lost count how many times I've had to. Usually I meal prep for me and my boyfriend on Sundays and Wednesdays - and my delivery week made my life so much easier - I actually gained back 6 to 8 hours where I don't need to shop or make meals in bulk. I tried a few other meal services and this is by FAR the best. Local (so my meals don't travel across states to get to me), sustainable (all compostable packaging, reusable bags and ice packs), and delicious. I love the variety of the meals and am also able to slightly customize based on my preferences/restrictions. I've tried others that claim to do this only to find that they use quite a bit of single use plastic or significantly under deliver on the quality and variety of meals (for twice the cost). They also seem to have an amazing logistics/operations team as any (minor) issue I have had has either been remedied promptly or quickly or solved before I even knew there was one. A few things set them apart from other services I've tried: - Food has arrived fresh and well-packaged and reasonable portion sizes. - The salad dressings, soup are well-seasoned which is saying a lot for gluten and dairy free food. Sometimes it seems like GF/DF approach to cooking is to add ridiculous amounts of garlic or heat to distract from the lack of creativity. But whoever is doing the seasoning here gets how to make the most of the ingredients. - Ability to opt out of other common allergens (for me, sesame, for example) gives me peace of mind. - 2x per week delivery so that (especially for salads) there's no chance of things spoiling by the end of the week. - Local. Always nice to support a local business, especially when they surpass the national brands. - Reasonable pricing - meal services are never cheap, but given the price of groceries nowadays, their meals cost about what I'd pay to buy the ingredients at the store and cook them. During a period of recuperation, I had no ability to shop nor cook for many weeks. A friend gave me a heaven-sent Westerly gift card! I love cooking and had no idea (nor need) for meal services. However, given my physical limitations, Westerly came as a surprise rescue. We are vegetarian, enjoying a high standard of organic food, so the plant-based option suited us well. Using Westerly for a couple of weeks during my recovery worked well as they do not insist upon financial commitments. Therefore, this is a super option for visitors to Seattle. One can halt orders for a while, and return later when needed. Westerly is a great option (and gift) for busy folk, workers with limited time, when you need reprieve from shopping, prep and cooking time - or just to have a break from the kitchen. Menu options that had something one can (literally) sink your teeth into (eg. patties, vege balls, seared tofu, vegan cheese) were just right. Packed salad bowl options needed supplemental protein to fill us up. Westerly efforts to be sustainable operates on multiple levels. They source locally, create menus based on these local finds, and support the local economy (win-win) . Honestly was very excited to support a local business when I heard about this meal delivery program. Unfortunately, I received an email regarding their inability to deliver to my area. I thanked them for letting me know and asked them to just refund me. It's been three weeks--no reply to my email, no response to my text (they say you can text the number listed on their page), no call back after leaving a message on their phone, and no refund. I never write yelp reviews, but this is so unacceptable that I'm literally chasing down this company to communicate with ANYONE to help me process a refund. Even if it takes time to process a refund, I expect at the very least to have that communicated to me to confirm its been processed. Do better. read more

I highly recommend this Service! My favorite (and I've tried a few). They have an amazing vegan menu plan that is always satisfying, fresh, creative, and whole food plant-based clean eating! I love that all their packaging is compostable, and that they come back and pick up and reuse their bags and ice packs. It's all fresh food that's ready to eat. Some meals need to be heated in microwave or oven but you can just put the compostable tray in either (I used a baking sheet under them in oven, and both methods work great). They also have Vegetarian and Wellness Plans (for Omnivores). I think they're also Gluten- free. You can choose Breakfast, Lunch, and/or Dinner in any combination, 3, 4, or 5 days a week. Easy delivery (2x a week), and food is kept fresh with big ice packs in insulated bag. My family has loved everything we've had, and this has us eating so much healthier!
