The first thing you'll notice is the unique look of the restaurant, with its intimate moody lighting and plushy seats. Highlights for me was that lamb tagine with a huge portion of lamb and the chicken tagine with lemon and olives. We were visiting from out of town and this place was close to our hotel (about a 10 minute walk) We were walk ins and were promptly seated. We all opted to do the feast, which included lentil soup, the house salad, the Bastilla, an entree per person and dessert and mint tea. Really good value for the amount of food you get. The interiors were cute, but yeah the lower seating does hurt some butts if you're not used to it lol. The soup was perfect on a cold rainy Seattle night. I enjoyed the Bastilla (whole party shares one) and it is odd to say it's a sweet meat pie but it's delicious. For my entree I got the lamb shank with couscous. In my opinion it was slightly underseasoned and I am used to getting a side of sauce/broth when I get couscous at a Moroccan restaurant .. this place didn't have that. When you walk in, the ambience makes you feel like you stepped into a tent in Morocco. There is no window in the restaurant, and I would've never thought it's a such a different world inside. A fantastic Moroccan restaurant in Belltown. The staff are very friendly and the ambiance is fantastic. To start, they wash your hands and then the 5 course dinner begins. The first course is the salad which was fresh and served with bread. Next was lentil soup which was flavorful. Then came B'stilla Royale which had a phyllo dough crust stuffed with ground chicken and spices topped with powdered sugar. I had the special of the day which was kababs, kofta, and basmati rice which all were very flavorful and perfectly cooked. The last course was a milk pudding served with mint tea. Every dish went perfectly with the next and it was a fantastic dinner. Overall, this is a great place to come for dinner and they also take reservations. Came to Marrakesh for the first time before going to a show at Paramount Theater. We were hoping to go in and try just a few things and see belly dancing before our plans! The inside was decorated beautifully with our seats low to the ground but crowded around a small table. We were sat in the corner and for 6 people we had to expand to using a second small table. Prior to going, we looked over the menu and decided on grabbing some soups, salads, and B'stilla Royale. You do wait a few seconds on arrival because they are doing such good service with the other guests. The staff was so friendly. Gave us great ideas. The dinner came with salad, appetizer, dessert. The mint tea was comforting and good with just the right sweetness. I have not eaten Moroccan food much everything we got was delicious I recommend the mixed grill. I was beyond delighted by the service, food, and experience here. We just stumbled across this place. Firstly, there's a gorgeous tiled piece on the front facade of the restaurant. When you enter, the ambiance is dark, cozy, and homey. You're seated at low tables on small pouf/cushions. There's a 5 course meal option and a La carte menu. At first they only give you the 5 course meal option which honestly sounds like a good deal (all we're around 28-30 bucks). We grabbed a couscous dish and this dish that ended up being like a gourmet Moroccan hot pocket. All dishes were delicious. We shared two aka carte items between 3 people. For the price on the menu, you would get a salad, a baklava, lentil soup, the main course, milk pudding and mint team. Make sure you have a good appetite while you go here so that you don't waste food :) . I wanted to try the hare dish, but they didn't have it. So I went for the spicy lamb (again) as it is very flavorful. The mixed kabob was also good, which we would rate second of the dishes we ordered and the chicken the third (we aren't fans of meat based dishes which taste sweet). What an experience. They rinse your hands in rose water prior to letting you eat, even they don't trust that you actually washed your hands after using the bathroom. I reccomend just getting the set meals that way you can enjoy soup, salad, appetizer, entree of your choice, and dessert. Probably about $30 per person, if you go with a group, I'd suggest ordering different entrees so you can share and try more variety. Whole experience was probably about 2 hours, belly dancers come out later in the evening which we were glad to have caught it. First time having Moroccan food and I think this is literially the only Moroccan spot in Seattle so I have nothing to compare to, it's located in Belltown so only street parking. You might have to sit on the floor so recommend not wearing anything too tight or difficult that you can't squat down. We visited this place for dinner on a Sunday evening . The ambiance has a perfect Moroccan setting. They greeted us and rinsed our hands before the 5 course meal. The appetizer consisted of salad, semi sweetened pastry and lentil soup . They had both veggie and non veg options to choose from. For entrees, one could choose any dish from their expansive menu. I got the couscous veggie and my brother got the veggie potato filo. My dish was a little too bland but his pastry was great. For dessert, there was coconut rice pudding. I liked how it was not too sweet. There was also belly dancing entertainment activity, which was fun. Overall, the food was average but the experience was great. I have been to this place a few times now and every time I go the service is amazing, every person that has greeted me and helped me has been super nice and kind. We couldn't make it that day for the time she was going to come, so we missed her. However, the food was good. I loved the chicken on skewers, I already forgot the name. First time trying Moroccan food for our family. I wanted a unique experience. We heard about Marrakesh from a friend who suggested the experience. Marrakesh is really unassuming from the outside- looks small. Inside is cozy and intimate with pillow poufs and carpeted walls- really cool setting. The whole experience was cool- Handwashing at the table Eggplant salad to share with their fresh bread (resembles milk bread-spongy). Lentil soup A puff pastry with cinnamon and sugar with minced chicken inside- that was my favorite. I was pretty disappointed with my meal- I expected spices and complex flavors. I ordered the lamb and eggplant tagine- it was a chunk of unseasoned lamb with one tiny ring sliced eggplant- chewy and tough. The lack of seasoning just shocked me- very bland. My husband's spicy lamb also had zero spice. Lastly washed with rose water- smelled amazing- even some coconut pudding and hot sweet mint tea, pudding was an interesting texture, tasted amazing. Service was quick and friendly. He did say this isn't a place for picky people- I had one daughter who just ate bread. Overall, recommend for the experience. Bang for your buck! $27 for 5 course meal. Started off with eggplant dip salad and homemade bread. Very fresh and flavorful. The lentil soup is the best especially dipping it with homemade bread! Second course is baked chicken in the pastry topped with powder sugar and cinnamon. Chicken with sugar and cinnamon?? It works! It was the best dish among everything we tired. Entrees were a little bit disappointing. No strong flavor and grilled meat were dry and over cooked. Lamb was cook to tender but no flavor. Dessert was really nice milk pudding and mint tea. We went Friday 6:30 and caught a belly dancer around 7:30. Staffs were really friendly and overall experience was unique. But the wait was really bad on that day tho. 5 courses nearly took 3 hours. Seating is cozy low lying benches with cushions and warm lighting that gives a feel of home. Server even washes our hands with water prior to eating which we felt was a nice authentic touch. Food was flavorful. We tried chicken & lamb tangine. Don't expect to get Rice or couscous with tangine, it has to be ordered separately. They sat us near a large family and there was a belly dancer (as was advertised on the website). However, she left about 3-5 minutes after we were seated and never saw her again. For anyone wondering- I eventually lived and worked in Marrakesh, Rabat, Tangier, and Fez - and I'm telling you: every harira (lentil soup), bstilla, and M'Rouzia I had while living there was measured against the skill of Abraham and his culinary magicians. The value is phenomenal. The dinner isn't a meal to regulate blood sugar (although it most certainly will do that) : Marrakesh is an event- it is a communion. Do not rush! Take it all in!
