Worth all the DoorDash fees to have the very good food delivered. Dining in is horrible. Might actually be the worst dining-in experience I've ever had. We were just two people on a Wednesday afternoon, and there was only one other table seated. The sole woman working the front of the restaurant still took a couple minutes to acknowledge and seat us. She was truly so rude right from the get-go, but we just kept trying to be extra polite. Things like when she asked if we wanted the Greek salad or the normal Greek salad, I asked what the difference was and she just glared at me for several seconds. We asked for two slices of the baklava for dessert after and she said she didn't know if they'd have it because they make it fresh -- but it was 4pm, an hour after they'd opened for the day. She never came back to tell us if they had any or not. She also kept grumbling, usually incoherent, but seemed to get genuinely mad and annoyed when we ordered rice and she said we should get the potatoes instead and we said thanks but we would stick with the rice. Our food came in good time and was absolutely delicious. However, it was very hard to get the check afterwards. We'd had all our plates and silverware stacked at the edge of our table for a while but couldn't get the lady's attention. Finally, as she was bringing out a plate to the other table, we said we were ready for the check and she snapped that she had a big order to bring out first (it was one more plate for that other table, and she'd been completely out of sight for probably 10 mins before this). After she'd brought the other table their last plate, we still didn't get our check. Several minutes passed and eventually she came out to the check stand to do something with the computer. More minutes passed... finally I went up and carefully said excuse me, should I just pay up here? She grumbled at me something I could barely hear about needing to do something else and that she'd be with us in a minute. I sat back down. Couple more minutes she still hadn't moved. I went back to the stand again and said I'm sorry but we really need to go, we have an event we're trying to get to. Then she handed the check over -- it was sitting right there. She kept grumbling and talking to herself too low for me to understand. Overall just bizarre service, not great ambiance, but the food is so good I will continue to pay $20 in DoorDash fees to get it delivered. I wouldn't dine in even for free. Editing to add that I see this is a common theme amongst reviews and probably will not change. Others say you have to "win her over" -- nope, that is the exact opposite of how customer service works. Also, we literally couldn't have been more polite and she was still so rude right out of the gate. It probably won't ever change though because these reviews stretch back years, so like I said, get DoorDash and don't feel bad when they get run out of business. read more

My party of two decided we needed to split our check down the middle. However, this server was extremely rude when we informed her while checking out. I understand that it may be best practice to inform her while ordering; however, the manner in which she scolded us left a bad taste. When I was using my card to pay, she was experiencing technical issues on her POS system, but she made it seem like it was my fault. Her behavior was out of line, unprofessional, and nasty. What a wonderful greek-owned restaurant. This place has a really charming ambiance, amazing food and very friendly and authentic service. The food honestly was out of this world and I'd highly recommend sitting down and eating there instead of getting delivery or takeout. It's a totally different experience and the service is so great and they also have live performances some days of the week. I was visiting Seattle and wanted to try some Greek food. After looking at many places all I could find was Mediterranean places not any straight Greek places. This place was about 35m from my hotel but it did not disappoint! I came in on a Thursday around 7pm. There was no wait. I like the place inside it has a nice atmosphere to it and they have live music on Saturday's! The server seemed a bit like he didn't want to be there (hence the minus one star). I opted for the gyro platter and man they load it up!! I had a lot of left overs lol. I ended up getting a Greek coffee as well. I wanted it to go but they do not have to go cups. A bit out of the way on 85th but worth the trip! A good menu with many traditional favorites. Solid wine list with reasonable prices. The baba ganouj was fresh and they make it onsite. A little heavy on the tahini but flavorful The feta salad was very good and filling as well. I took home quite a bit. Saturday nights are supposed to have live music at 7:30 PM. It's definitely worth going for the food. I order delivery from them pretty regularly, and we consistently enjoy the food. Hands down my favorite Spanikopita in the Seattle area (it is ginormous). The in-restaurant experience is different. The food is still great; fresher and hotter in the restaurant (as you might expect), but, the atmosphere is generic, the chairs are uncomfortable, and the service is mid-range at best (the older woman usually in the front is just plain mean). All that said, I really do reccomend the restaurant (especially if you want Greek food that's actually Greek, not "Mediterranean"). read more

Wow... a real bummer....I hate writing this kind of review. The food here is delicious. I ordered a chicken souvlaki pita and large Greek salad to go. I ordered takeout last min and was excited to enjoy my meal as I'm very pregnant and I was very hungry. I go into the restaurant to pick up my order and I'm approached by the rudest older blonde lady waitress who proceeded to question if my order was placed and then argued with me about how I placed it. Told me that there is no way for them to find it the way I placed the order. She then proceeded to tell me to never order via door dash for pick up and how I did it wrong. When you click via the website the pickup button online directs you to door dash. She said I should have called the restaurant directly as they are losing all their money from door dash. Then she finally locates my order after I show her the email almost pretending like I didn't order anything and she proceeds to tell me how I ordered wrong off the menu and I was wasting money ordering the way I ordered my food... she said I should have ordered something else that was cheaper and would have made more sense. I hate writing bad reviews, but it's unbelievable to me that this woman is still employed... Food was one of the better Greek places that I've had in Seattle, but I will be avoiding based on absolutely horrible customer service I experienced. No wonder the restaurant was empty. I've been a patron of Taki's since they first opened on 15th Ave. They are great people serving great food. Their falafel, when it is fresh at the restaurant, is the thing to get. After that it's the housemade Taki's fries! Since covid, and the peak of delivery apps, I feel like I have to be a little more patient with the order but it's always worth the wait. The best time was bringing my parents here for dinner during a live music show- there was music and belly-dancing and we drank sooooo much Sambucca! I found this place by accident one night when I wanted a late carryout after Golden Gardens. My girlfriend is Greek. She wasn't hungry, so I just ordered for me. When we got the carryout back to her place, she smelled the avgolemono and she couldn't help herself. She had a spoonful, she fell in love, and she was suddenly hungry enough to share the bowl with me. That was just the start of things. Since then, Taki's has become my very favorite restaurant in my extended neighborhood. Dine-in or carry-out, it doesn't matter--it's all glorious. A few dishes I want to especially call out-- 1. Again, the avgolemono. Like I said, my girlfriend is from the Greek side of Cyprus and this is legitimately the only time I've ever seen her freak out about the quality of Greek food in a Seattle restaurant. It is so creamy and delicious. 2. Moussaka. I love moussaka--it's maybe my favorite Greek dish. The moussaka here is something else, my friends. The bechamel is thicker than any I've ever seen. At first I thought the prices were a bit high, but then realized it was justified by the amount of food there is in each dish. I ordered take out and the weight of the bag was noticeable ha. I was intrigued by the fried feta sticks and they were really good. The breading was very crisp and crunchy and the feta had a nice tangy taste. The included tomato basil salad was nicely balanced with it. The falafel platter is enormous. The Greek potatoes are delicious with a buttery lemon flavor. The Greek salad was also fresh and great. The falafel, even though there was so much of it, was lackluster. It was too dense and needed more flavor. This is my favorite Greek restaurant in all of Seattle. I've made it a personal mission to try all gyros in Seattle, and Taki's is at the top of my list among everywhere I've tried ( ~15 restaurants)! The portions are massive, and flavors are great. The restaurant is family-owned and I believe the parents are from Greece (they have their backstory written on the menu). The son that usually works in the front is SO nice, one of the most genuine people I've ever met. Unfortunately he moved to a different state, so I believe it's just his parents and brother that work there now. Full transparency, the mom's customer service is pretty poor (very slow service, odd/abrasive communication, lack of professionalism and friendliness), however I don't mind nor take it personally because the food is great! I would recommend ordering takeout as they can get busy with orders and take awhile to attend to you. read more

I grew up in a large Greek family that found a reason to have a "party" every week or two. My mom and all five of her sisters, as well as her parents, we're all amazing cooks, so the food table was always brimming with platters of incredible food. I love Greek food, but one of my biggest complaints about Greek restaurants is that often, while delicious, the food is not like what you'd be served in a Greek home. But at Takis, it is! In fact, they have the best fasolakia I've ever had! The green beans literally melt in your mouth. No matter what else you order, get an order of fasolakia! Takis is not fancy, but it's always clean and it's generally not difficult to get a table because the space is quite large. And it's incredible fun on the nights they have life Greek music! BTW: I noticed some other reviewers talked about the "rude woman." She's actually the mother of the family that runs Takis and, while she is definitely quirky, it shouldn't be mistaken for rudeness. This is the best Greek restaurant I've eaten at in Seattle. The interior is nicely decorated and large windows allowing in natural light. The server offered suggestions that turned out to be spot on. I had the Souvlaki sandwich (Greek style per the server), and my wife had the Moussaka with the Greek potatoes. The potatoes had a nice mild lemon flavor with a mixture of herbs. I have to say they were the best potatoes I've ever eaten and if that was all I had for dinner I would be totally satisfied. The Moussaka was to die for and perfectly layered with seasoned ground beef, eggplant and a crusted top layer. It was a really amazing. They used to be as good as Yannis. I guess we haven't been there in a while, and perhaps they changed cooks. We got takeout, so the infamous blonde wasn't much of an issue, although she got the order slightly wrong. We ordered the lemon rice soup, moussaka with rice and horiatiki salad, and the calamari dinner with Greek potatoes and horiatiki. They make up for quality, with quantity. It makes for some heavy garbage when the bulk of it gets thrown away. I hate wasting food, but not as much as I hate eating food that's so greasy and salty that we both needed to take Pepto afterwards. The Pepto was the tastiest thing I ate that night. read more

This place is mad underrated. The flavors and textures are all top notch. The Greek flavors of lemon, garlic, butter, and olive really punch through in every dish. Everything tastes really fresh. The taki's fries are the best fries I've probably ever had. Insanely crispy and flavorful topped with feta. The plates are also fairly large. We got two entrees, an appetizer, and a soup for two people, which is usually barely enough for a satisfying dinner at most Greek restaurants. The appetizers here are big enough to share and each entree comes with a side and salad, so we had so much food we ended up packing the moussaka basically untouched. The most comically horrible restaurant experience I've probably ever had. As someone who grew up in a family restaurant myself, I feel bad leaving this review. I almost never leave negative reviews, because I know how much work the restaurant business is and I give a lot of leeway for small business proprietors. A friend of mine recommended the place and so I took an out-of-town guest there. Within five minutes, we were being threatened with lawsuit by the older blonde lady waitress (the mother of the manager, I believe). She told us how Taki, her husband, had successfully sued someone over music rights and how she was going to sue us for taking social media videos without financially compensating them. She said we needed to pay the muralist too who painted the wall behind us. I thought it was a joke at first, but there was zero hint of irony and she returned multiple times to the table to repeat herself and threaten us. I looked at the wall closer and realized it was a wallpaper sticker and not a mural... We got up to leave, but her son came out and told us it was fine and that we could take pictures. The food (chicken wrap; falafel; avgolemono soup) was fine, but frankly I could not enjoy it at all. She would return to our area of the restaurant for no reason, to fiddle with silverware on nearby tables. I really regret taking a guest there. Of course, we did not end up taking any social media pics/vids after feeling like we were being punished and scrutinized. Truly, thinking about the experience embarrasses me, because I regret not immediately leaving and I regret staying as polite as I did throughout the whole affair. Bottom line: Go to Yanni's in Phinney Ridge or Olive & Grape in Greenwood instead for Mediterranean cuisine in the area. read more

This past Tuesday we had Kiki prepare the food for our mothers "makaria" The forgiveness meal following her Greek Orthodox Funeral service. The food was off the charts delish and instruction followed to a T. We ended up after the service at the restaurant to settle up the bill and ate and drank more! I hate to write this about a family run restaurant, which I generally try to support, however in this case I will make an exception. The food was not bad, but the service was worthy of "kitchen nightmares" the woman who served us took 40 minutes to bring us menus and water. We made our order 30 minutes after that when she came to our table again. After another 45 minutes passed we got two of our 5 appetizers 30 minutes after that our entrees came. That would have been bad enough but the server who also apparently owns the restaurant was beyond rude and demeaning to us for asking when food would arrive. I should also say my husband(who asked when food would arrive) was very understanding to them being short staffed was treated as if he had assaulted a waiter for asking if we would get our meal soon. If the service wasn't bad enough, the price per plate for our NYE dinner was 80$ a plate- which they don't advertise anywhere and quickly tell you when you get your menu. The food was good, but NOT worth 80$. I could have paid that at a Michelin star restaurant for a beautiful steak but instead, I spent my money starving and being yelled at. Never going back. It was so bad it was almost funny. I've never written a yep review and I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to encapsulate how terrible this. Came in for the first time (for take-out) and the place smells amazing! And Kiki was SO helpful, she recommended the dessert "Galaktoboureko" and I'm so glad we got that it was HEAVENLY. The food is okay, but something one of the owners said when I picked up my order really rubbed me the wrong way, making me realize they never appreciated their employees. They said that 3 people decided not to show up, and then followed that up by smugly stating, "they'll come crying back when [those government checks] run out." No. Multiple people don't leave all at once on a business owner unless you are a fundamentally bad person to work for. The foul opinion she proffered told me more about the Trumpian views and despicable lack of respect for one's workers. No one like that deserves employees or business. Husband had been wanting to take me to Taki's since we started dating. He finally did- it did not disappoint. This place is authentic Greek and I love it. You can tell its family run and I hate to be one of those people, but it always reminds me of My Big Fat Greek Wedding when I walk in ;) I like the laid back atmosphere and decor (pictures of the family and restaurant over the years) and the food is always great. I have visited 5 times now I think and each has been delicious. Have started bringing friends and family and they've all loved it too. The vegetarian platter is very tasty and I love the selection. I loved the blonde lady everybody is whining about. First off I've worked for Greeks before and they are notoriously grumpy in the restaurant business. With that being said she was super pleasant to us, even though she was very busy. My wife was going to order a glass of retsina wine but the blonde lady recommended something else. I ordered a Greek coffee which is a pain in the but to make and it isn't an easy or quick process. We ordered lemon soup, Kalamari appetizer, gyro platter and beef souvlaki skewers. Everything was delicious. The blonde was the only person working front of the house and she kicked ass. Yes we had to be patient but when you go out for dinner that's only common courtesy.
