Came here for the Turkish delights since they were so delicious the last time I came here. The experience was a little disappointing this time as there were a few of us who came into the shop and there was no designated line up to know who was next in queue. I understand that as a lunch rush, you want to focus on the Donair sandwiches but just have separate queues so different staff can serve different menu needs. I also didn't love that the Donair spit wasn't rotating so only one section of meat was heated until someone ordered. Seems a bit improper? read more

Been coming here for months now. I am yet to find a place that makes better Turkish food than this restaurant in Seattle. So authentic, flavorful and prepared with so much care. Thier menu is limited but that's because everything they do, they do to absolute perfection. My go to order here toggles between the doner kebab sandwich, chicken combo platter, pistachio baklava and ofcTurkish coffee. Every bite is heavenly.. the meat is juicy and perfectly seasoned.. the sauces are out of this world and the baklava is the perfect balance of flaky, nutty and sweet. There's a layer of pistachio inside the flakes as well and it's not just on the top. And The Turkish coffee alone is worth the stop. But what makes this place truly delight is the people behind it. It's run by an elderly woman and her daughter and they're the absolute sweetest. She greets everyone with the warmest smile, asks for your name and remembers it when she calls you.. the whole experience feels so personal and welcoming. The cafe itself is open, airy and full of natural light with views of the Pacific Ocean and the bustling Pike Place streets. Because the food is so good (and the hospitality so genuine) it's always super busy especially on weekends. Be prepared to wait in line but trust me it's worth it!!!! read more

Walked by this place one day and was drawn in by how good it smelled. First time visit, we got the döner kebab sandwich and the chicken combo plate (they ran out of the lamb), a cup of lentil soup, and a yogurt drink. Lentil soup was thick and slightly sour. Never had a lentil soup like it and it was delicious! A perfect appetizer to start off the meal. Yogurt drink was also slightly tangy and salty. Plate comes with rice topped with chicken, plus a side of salad with raw red onions, tomatoes, and hummus, all topped with yogurt sauce. Could mix all together and eat like a bowl OR eat each part separately. I also recommend buying an extra pita bread to enjoy the side salad and hummus in. There is some seating along the wall but not much. Probably fits about 3 groups of 4. Workers were mom and daughter and were some of the sweetest people I've ever met. 2 Wonderful, warm, women served us Lentil soup, Baklava, and Turkish coffee. All were SUPERB. Lentil soup was like straight from a farm feeling, the Baklava was sticky, gooey, and not too sweet. Turkish coffee with a tad added sugar was perfect. AND, even if none of the dishes were good, the 2 women working would make us go back to give them business. Just wonderful. We went 30 minutes before closing and next time we will go early enough to try the Lamb stew which sells out fast. I've past by this place a million times, I apologize for not coming in earlier. This little treat blew my mind. It was flaky, soft, and had a slight crunch! You could really taste the pistachios and I mean that in the best of ways! The woman that worked there was extremely welcoming. The service was quick and efficient. The ambiance felt like a small café to get a quick bite and some coffee. Not a bad place to have a Turkish coffee! They make it really sweet and strong, so be ready! The restaurant felt a little cramped, some of the empty tables were a bit dirty and appeared a little neglected. However, the coffee was good! The first time I ever went, years ago, I didn't know they had only taken cash at the time, and I didn't have any with me. The older woman behind the counter, I guess she took pity on me, ended up giving it to me for free and asked that I come back to pay for it when I have cash. I was astounded, and absolutely did so, and she seemed to be astounded that I actually came back. It's an experience I will never forget, and although I can't come here much at all, I still hold this place dear to me because of that interaction. Living in Seattle means regularly taking guests to the Pike market downtown. It's not my favorite thing to do by any stretch of the imagination. HOWEVER! This is my place of choice to show visitors. Turkish Delight does well what so little restaurants in Seattle event attempt, a minimalist high quality menu. They only have a handful of things (though solid variety) but all of them are excellent. Their lamb stew, lentil soup, and chicken kebab are all are top tier and give everyone something to try. The family that owns Turkish Delight are also a long time staple in the community. After seeing this restaurant on my first full day in Seattle, I knew I had to try something from them. I ended up getting there the next day for a late lunch. The line moved relatively quickly and those with more complicated orders moved off to the side to wait while their orders were filled to make room for the next customer. There was an older and younger woman working and when I got up to the counter I was helped by the older of the two. Both of them seemed very friendly and I know that I received excellent service when ordering. I ordered a small cup of the lamb stew, as I do love lamb and hadn't had any in a while, and it wasn't long between placing my order, paying in cash (they take card as well but I try my best to use cash when supporting local/small businesses), and then receiving my order to go. The restaurant was clean and fairly quiet with those dining in and those getting orders to go, but it was such a lovely day I wanted to go find a good spot outside they do have seating inside and roll up windows, great for how sunny it was at the time, but I wanted to be completely outside). I ended up at a public bench not too far away and finally dug into the stew. It was fresh, flavorful, hearty, and hot! One of my favorite things I had in Seattle. Very meaty, with each morsel of lamb being nice and tender. I highly recommend stopping here for some flavorful food. read more
