Cig kofte

This place is one of the few authentic places left in WA state! Husband & wife owned , very nice people and the food is so authentic and flavorful . The beef and lamb plate is one of my go to favorites here and of course if you know authentic Turkish food then you will know about the cig kofte it's burglar with lots of flavors and that fresh lettuce wrap so delicious! Must try .

Beef and Lamb Doner Sandwich

Alanya Doner is located in the heart of downtown Kirkland, which has plenty of paid parking, but not many free spaces. There were about 8 tables inside, but there was plenty of room on a Friday for lunch. The hours of the store mean that you are most likely unable to grab their food for dinner, but if you have enough flexibility in your schedule to swing by, this was the closest to the doner experience I had in Istanbul available in the US. You do pay before Beef and Lamb Doner Sandwich (4.5/5): GET THIS ITEM GET IT. The beef and lamb doner is insanely moist with bits of fat that add a fantastic texture to your bites. I wish they gave me more of the tzatziki sauce, but the meat was so delicious and juicy on it's own, the sandwich never felt dry. Chicken Doner Salad (1.5/5): Really, really wasn't a fan of this one unfortunately. The chicken was impressively bland and kinda stringy. Always always go for the beef and lamb and if you can only eat chicken, tough luck I guess. Kunefe (4/5): This dessert is essentially crunchy filo pastry filled with a very mild cheese. If you haven't tried it, it may sound a bit odd, but it's AMAZING. This has been the only spot I've found on the Eastside that serves an authentic version, but you do have to wait 10-15 minutes so the restaurant can toast one fresh for you. My only complaint would be that the pastry could be crunchier, but still hits the spot!

The beef and lamb plate was delicious! This is a little family run place with a few tables and chairs set inside, and their food is so popular, they tend to sell out by 5PM sometimes, so I would try to hit them up earlier for lunch if possible! All the times I tried visiting them past 4 PM, they were sold out! But I can see why! Their sets are delicious and flavorful, highly recommend!

I was looking for something filling after taking a Barre class nearby. First of, parking in this part of town is not easy - limited parking along narrow street, plus the ongoing construction. I accidentally drove into the Marina Park area, where there was no parking and was essentially a deadend. It seems like a mom and pop shop. There were 2 people working when I came on a Saturday afternoon. The Doner sandwich with beef & lamb was delicious. For $12, the sandwich was a great deal. The large portion of meat was juicy, though there were a few chewy pieces. But be warned, it is a messy sandwich. Take lots of napkins if you are getting it to go.

This cozy Turkish restaurant is a hidden gem! The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I really like their profiteroles. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Highly recommend!

I really wanted to like this place, but was so disappointed in my doner. Got lunch takeout. Asked if I could have tomato sauce in the doner. Owner said no. Asked if I could have it on the side instead. He said 'ok yes'. But I never got the side in my order. The doner was an absolute mess. Opened it up (see photo) and everything just fell out. It was also very greasy, which was odd since the meat was so dry. I also got the summer salad which was pretty good. Veggies were fresh. The dressing is sweet. However, I won't be back :(

Pogaca

Came in the early afternoon and was helped by the owner right away. Tried the Turkish coffee without sugar and pogaca. The coffee was hot and strong. The pogaca had a nice crisp on the bottom and sides, the interior was soft, and the cheese and parsley topping was tasty. Looking forward to coming back and trying doner.

Came on a beautiful Saturday noon - I'll say this to start - it is very warm inside so you aren't likely to want to eat inside. Fortunately there are tables outside and the waterfront park with benches etc are a minute away. During summer it is a no brainer to eat outside or takeaway. Ordered two items we split - the Doner plate (Turkish version of a gyro plate) - you can have bulgar pilaf or rice (we opted for the pilaf) and then it comes with strips of lamb/beef, salad, pita and tzatziki. Good portion and tasty - All the elements come together for a nice dish that I would reorder. 2nd item was simply pita and hummus and this was a solid offering as well. Owner came by and asked how things tasted and how are day was going - nice touch and love supporting small business owners as I'm one myself. 5/5 and will frequent probably once every six weeks or so since it is a five minute walk from residence. Love seeing the gyro on the rotating spit.

Dough my goodness! Pide with sausage, egg and cheese.

My mom recently had a 75th birthday and the woman loves a sweet treat! I know that when I would fly over from NY, this would be one of our first stops. I wanted to take both my parents out for coffee and dessert. Our waitress was an absolute dream. The service was so stellar that morning. Yes, we ate cake at 9:39 am but it was way after our breakfast and before our nice walk in downtown Kirkland. We looked at the desserts before sitting down. There was a tray of a rhubarb crumb that looked good. I asked for that and the chocolate cake. I ordered a large cappuccino, my dad an americano and my mom got a latte. While the coffees were being made someone came in and snagged the whole tray because of Mother's Day. We made a decision to get the carrot cake. Secretly I think my dad was hoping for a Carrot Cake. We enjoyed both cakes and the cake slices were huge! I love baking myself and understand ingredients are not cheap so I believe they are very much worth the price. The space was nice and clean. Everyone's food around us looked delicious. I will definitely be back to try out the food next time I come to visit.

The menu is quite small with three cold sandwiches and three hot ones, each inspired by a different region of the globe with the South Pacific, South America and Mediterranean as a few examples. There were two salads listed as well. I've been here twice and both times, when I went to place my order on the iPad, the menu stated they were out of stock for the sandwich that I wanted. However, when I asked the employee, she said that was not correct. So if you see the same message when ordering, it's worth asking about it! During my first visit, I ordered the RENDANG ($14). This hot sandwich came packed with SO much meat! Very tender chunks of marinated beef tasted of coconut, curry and warm spices. The flavor had true depth and I could actually taste hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Thin spears of pickled cucumber and carrot added crunch and a perfect zing of acidity. They were refreshing and cut through the rich beef. A drizzle of Sambal Terasi (chili) aioli gave it another layer of flavor. Cilantro, mint and Thai basil were all fresh and vibrant. The bread was lightly toasted, being a little crinkly in texture without being harsh against my gums. If I could change something, I would include a couple extra slices of the cucumber to balance out the ratio of vegetables to meat, and add a bit more of the aioli. Other than that, this is a great sandwich influenced by flavors of the South Pacific. My companion got the STEAK sandwich ($15) and enjoyed it. The steak slices were thinly cut and tender as well. They do their beef right! On another occasion, I tried the PROSCIUTTO ($14), one of their cold sandwiches. The delicate layers of prosciutto were placed on top of sliced tomatoes, pickled onion and arugula, all between pressed focaccia bread. Truffle mustard was spread on both pieces of bread, which was WAY too much in my opinion. With this mustard having a stronger flavor, it overpowered the sandwich and made it too tangy, especially in combination with the pickled onions. The menu stated this should include pistachios, but I didn't notice any, and they were all out of provolone, so there was also an absence of cheese. For the prices, these sandwiches are pretty generous in size, so I consider them a good deal, especially for the Bellevue area. The ingredients are fresh and make for a fantastic lunch option. While I wasn't a huge fan of the Prosciutto sandwich, I'd definitely go back again for another Rendang!

Noon Café is a casual family diner offering traditional grilled kababs (aka kebab), appetizers, sandwiches, and pizzas - all Persian/Iranian style. The interior is basic, decorated with photos of Iranian landmarks (I assume). Currently, they have a memorial due to the ongoing war. (Peace to all...) Service is warm and friendly. Be sure to ask questions if the dish names are unfamiliar. The Food: Soltani, $32.99 - 4 Stars Soltani includes one skewer of Koobideh (ground beef) and one skew of Barg (flank steak). Both are well-seasoned with excellent flavor. We ordered the flank steak medium rare, but it was medium with no pink inside. The steak was tolerable, not as tender as it could have be. This dish was served with rice per the menu. After I saw another table has their kabab served with a bread, I asked the server. She said other than rice, there is a choice of Persian bread (flat bread with sesame) and salad. Curious that wasn't in the menu nor did she say it. Not a dealbreaker. Her reply did raise my eyebrow. Zaboon, $16.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Veal tongue, simmered and fried, tomato, pickles, parsley Based on the description, the texture completely threw me off. The meat is mushy to the point of spreadable. The flavor is light with minimum seasoning. I applied hot sauce liberally to the sandwich. Portion size is large. I ate only half. Fries, $6.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside Some pieces aren't crispy enough. Some pieces are too thick such that the inside has the potato gritty texture. The sauce is a house-created flavor. We like the sauce more than we like the fries. The food is closer to 3.5 Stars. I like the family vibe and am rounding up to 4 Stars for the overall rating.

When we realized we were at the wrong place, we informed the staff. They were incredibly polite and friendly and didn't show any irritation at all. They kindly said it was no problem and were very understanding. While we were there, we took a look at the menu and decided we should come back and try the food another time. A couple of months later, we returned to give it a try. We ordered the non-mixed grill, and it was absolutely delicious. The beef was cooked perfectly--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The chicken was also excellent. The rice was perfectly cooked, and when we added the butter, it tasted amazing. They also had a special Persian spice that elevated the flavor to another level. The service was warm and welcoming. Our server took the time to explain how Persian food is traditionally enjoyed and described the purpose of each ingredient. We followed his suggestions, and the experience was even more enjoyable. The ambiance was simple and modern, and the place was very clean and well maintained. Definitely a must-try.

It's nice that there is half order as a lot of Hawaiian restaurants tend to be full orders so it is incredibly hard to try a variety of options if you're solo or in a small group. The Hawaiian chicken and karaage both are juicy and delicious. It's great that the combo is the same price as the standard individual options so I got to try more variety without paying extra. I looked at the reviews and opted to remove the rice and get extra salad which was a good move - their chop chop salad is very delicious with a nice balance of dressing, cheese, and ham. I still had some rice from the loco moco, which was sufficient for me. The loco moco is good - I wished the patty was a bit less tough but the gravy and egg make up for it. Overall, great value and great food. I'd be a regular if I didn't live so far from Kirkland (1 hr drive for food can be challenging in busy schedules)

The staff are super efficient at clearing tables so you won't need to wait long, but the downside of this place is that their popularity easily exceeds their capacity - so be patient!
