I dream about DERU's Carrot Cake! They're most known for their insane baked goods- think cakes, pastries, and focaccia. Everything is insanely good, but their carrot cake was the real star for me. THE best I've had by far! You can stop by all day: coffee and sweets for the morning, sandwiches for lunch, and a full dinner menu! We've tried a handful of their salads, pastas, and pizzas and everything was really solid. A great all around option on so many levels!

No wonder the parking lot is a nightmare and it's hard to get a table...it's amazing. They have a newer structure where you order from a QR code and then they just bring stuff out. In hindsight, I'm not sure why I still tipped 20% when I didn't interact with the wait staff at all, but whatever. I started with fries and the sauce was delectable. No idea how they made that heaven. The cauliflower is always a hit too. I always get the farm salad, which was loaded with herbs and dill. Also heaven. Got a filet of salmon on the side to add to it and it was the perfect meal. Their seasonal mint slushie is amazing. Incredible. I could have had two of them! Got a cookie to go and felt like the luckiest girl in the world. It's worth the stress to try to eat here.

Coffee is a 10/10. Definitely recommend their coffee. Got the iced latte with vanilla and an extra shot. French toast was pretty yummy! They have fresh ingredients. I like mine pretty soggy and the ends weren't fluffy like the middle so had to add extra butter. Bacon was yummy! Next time I want to try their cakes. Beware- waited 35 min for a table for four and got seated at the bar lol. Service was just scanning a QR code. I like the music and ambiance.

I came here early enough to see all their baked goodies displayed and was satisfied with their maple glazed oat cookie. Their chicken pesto pizza was delicious per usual and the watermelon like slushee was so refreshing and tasted clean. I was overall pleased with my experience here and will keep coming back!

Anytime I'm drinking vinho verde, the chances of a 5 star review go up, up, up. Thankfully, my Yelp friends didn't steer me wrong on this one. We started with the fresh garden salad with pepitas. greens, herby dressing and pickled carrots at Deru, then dove into two wood fired, blistered pizzas, the mushroom and the pepperoni. Add a bottle of vinho verde and who could complain? The ordering process was a little confusing at first, but the second visit should be easier. Pro tip: don't stand in the long line unless you're ordering to-go. Find a table, scan the QR code, and order. Fun atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and genuinely good food. My main complaint? One bathroom. Rough. Deru Cafe has an extensive menu that covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with outstanding baked goods, pizza, and nightly dinners to go. The long line of cars outside speaks to its popularity. Last year about 1,500 loyal customers picked up Thanksgiving meals here, a testament to the quality of their offerings (and to convenience.) After eating here, I get it.

I'm not a huge sandwich person, but I love their sandwiches! My office gets catering here often, so I've been able to try many of their sandwiches, and also the salads, cakes, and cookies, which are all also good. All my colleagues love their food too. I love the bread they use for sandwiches. It's been on my list to dine in and try their other foods

We took my Mom to DERU Market on the Saturday before Mother's Day and it was a big hit. There was a wait but the staff gave us a realistic estimate of the wait and they take your number and text you when your table is ready. They have both great outdoor seating and inviting indoor dining as well. I started with a nice London Fog made with Earl Gray from Smith Teamaker. It comes in one size - large. My Mom got the Eggs Benedict with fresh dill which she enjoyed even though there was a slight hiccup. The English muffin under the eggs was over toasted and was very difficult to cut with a knife. But the staff was very gracious and remade the whole thing in no time. I got the roast chicken with goat cheese sandwich and my wife got the smoked turkey sandwich. Both come on bread they bake themselves. The fresh greens on both really elevated the sandwiches. DERU also has an excellent bakery case. We ordered a slice of the Coconut cake. It was a generous slice and delicious. If you don't have time to dine can walk up and order pastries to go. Will definitely be back again!

My hubs with his mom! We all enjoyed our brunch.

My hubs and I took his mom to DERU Market to celebrate Mother's Day the day before (Saturday). Even though not everything went well, it was such a great experience that we will for sure come back again. I signed up for the waitlist at 11:15am before we left for the restaurant. When we got there at 11:40am, we checked in and the staffer said it would be approximately an hour to hour and a half wait on top of our already 25 minute wait. Whoa! We didn't know these were typical weekend waiting times. My MIL was willing to wait so we took off and came back in an hour. At that time, they were able to seat our party of three at a table outside. So, it took us about 90 minutes total to get seated. Note to future diners to get on the waitlist early if you're coming for weekend brunch!!! You use a QR code to order from an online menu. Liked how detailed the menu was and how we could remove or add ingredients. With my dairy and eggs intolerance, this comes in handy. My MIL ordered Eggs Benedict, I got the smoked turkey sandwich on focaccia, and my hubs got the chicken sandwich on focaccia. Our sandwiches were packed with lots of deliciousness, but my MIL's English muffin was toasted so hard she couldn't even cut through it with a steak knife. So she sent it back and she also asked for her poached eggs to be cooked harder. The staff member was apologetic and said no problem. It took a while to cook it, but when she got her remade Eggs Benedict, she really liked it. We split a slice of apple bread which was delicious. So happy it was dairy free! My hubs also enjoyed his London Fog. My MIL got a huge slice of coconut cake to go and loved eating it later, telling us it was very moist and coconutty. It was a bright day with nice weather and was a perfect time to try out DERU Market. Even though it was very busy, all of the staff were friendly and attentive. They worked like a well-oiled machine. We definitely want to come back and try more of their dishes, pizza, and desserts.

Deru is always good when I go. This time my girlfriend and I shared the Chicken Pesto Pizza and it was super fresh and tasty. This place tends to be busy so I'd suggest always joining the waitlist when you are about 10-15 minutes away so you can be sat quicker. You just scan a QR code and order whatever you like on your phone, but servers are there to help if needed. It's also very nice inside and modern. The outdoor seating is great too. Always good here and I'd suggest to come if you haven't already!

Believe the HYPE!! The densely chocolate, peanut butter, airy frosting cake is TOP TIER! You won't be disappointed if these are the flavor profiles, you are into!! My mom recently had a 75th birthday and the woman loves a sweet treat! I know that when I would fly over from NY, this would be one of our first stops. I wanted to take both my parents out for coffee and dessert. Our waitress was an absolute dream. The service was so stellar that morning. Yes, we ate cake at 9:39 am but it was way after our breakfast and before our nice walk in downtown Kirkland. We looked at the desserts before sitting down. There was a tray of a rhubarb crumb that looked good. I asked for that and the chocolate cake. I ordered a large cappuccino, my dad an americano and my mom got a latte. While the coffees were being made someone came in and snagged the whole tray because of Mother's Day. We made a decision to get the carrot cake. Secretly I think my dad was hoping for a Carrot Cake. We enjoyed both cakes and the cake slices were huge! I love baking myself and understand ingredients are not cheap so I believe they are very much worth the price. The space was nice and clean. Everyone's food around us looked delicious. I will definitely be back to try out the food next time I come to visit.

Great classic American food in Kirkland. Came here at 12:30PM and it was completely packed, but luckily two open seats outside. It was pretty cold this day, but luckily they have blankets if you need. You can order through the QR code on the table, and the food comes pretty fast. We got the salted caramel latte, rosemary cream pizza, smoked turkey sandwich, and fries. The salted caramel latte is creamy, salty, and roasty. It comes in this massive bowl cup which is fun to drink out of haha. The rosemary cream pizza was super aromatic and savory, and the crust was fluffy. Loved the potato and bacon on it. The sandwich had a soft and fluffy focaccia, and I appreciated the generous amount of arugula piled in. The apple inside was a great contrast to the white cheddar inside. And the fries were super well seasoned with a delicious aioli. I would've taken home to aioli if I wasn't just visiting for the weekend. My friend actually used to work here and recommended the salted peanut butter cake, house herb focaccia, and apple and arugula pizza, which I'd love to try the next time I'm back in Seattle!

Wow, this spot is popular! Reasonable prices and delicious food. I visited on a sunny Wednesday for lunch and the restaurant is thriving. It's very lively, has indoor & outdoor seating, and even a busy curbside pickup. Parking is limited but there is plenty on the surrounding streets. For the food - The salad was amazing and fresh, pizza was great too. DERU Market is known for their delicious cakes, so save room (and time) for dessert! Pro tip, there is an online wait list you can join ahead of time, but it doesn't give a wait estimate unfortunately, so you will have to ask up front.

Update: I've been back a couple more times and ordered a lot better. I like their fries, pizza, and pasta. They have interesting fresh juice drinks when they aren't sold out. I would avoid the cake (way too big, sweet and dry when I got it) and matcha, and I think their brunch is better than their lunch/dinner. Service is always pretty friendly and it's a nice vibe especially on a sunny day.

Ask the Community - DERU Market

Are they ever going to reopen the dining room? This seems to be permanently changed to take out only which is very disappointing. I've just stopped going bc I'm tired of going in hopes they are open only to find out it's take out only.

They open for dining now and you can join the waitlist on their website. It always says 5-10 mins wait on the waitlist but I usually give 20-30 estimate wait time during peak hours. It works out well.

Are they still take out only?

    Nope! Eating here right now!

Do they serve breakfast all day?

Breakfast is served until 2pm on weekends, and 11am on weekdays

Was wondering if anyone knows what the brunch menu is like?

If you're talking about breakfast, they have a chalkboard with the daily menu. As for lunch, they have a printed menu that reflects what is on their website with some additional daily specials on their chalkboard.

Is this place allergen friendly? Want to go for breakfast but have gluten and milk allergies?

Yes they are, I have the same allergies and it definitely dwindles your options down, but they're always very accommodating. If cross contamination is an issue I would ask them about how much of the equipment is shared.

This place would be great for date-night or get a drink or have a family meal. Our server was attentive and helpful, making a change for us last minute with a 'I gotcha ya' attitude - LOVE! Thank you! The food is so, so good! The Seattle area doesn't have enough 'soul', southern, creole, 'island' type of foods. This place fills the perfect niche. I have the urge to say 'hmmm, hmmm' dining here! Yum! Parking is free under the building, and nearby street parking tends to be available, too. The Food: Blackened Salmon, $33 - 5 Stars Menu: Salmon, corn soubise, fried plantains, fried okra We both wanted this as our main dish, so this is a 2X. The salmon is perfectly seasoned and grilled. You can SEE the seasoning on the fish. So glad they included pieces of okra. The frying/searing gives it the perfect chew. Fried Green Tomatoes, $15 - 5 Stars Menu: Green tomatoes, panko, egg, onion, Buddha's belly seasoning This dish is known as their must order. I have no clue what Buddha's belly seasoning is, but I can tell you it is tasty. Fried green tomatoes is a perfect southern dish (and I will always think about the movie). Wings, Jerk seasoning, $18 - 5 Stars Like many, we're suckers for wings. Even better if the seasoning is different. Jerk wings is rightfully popular, here. The sauce is generously applied, and every bit is delicious. The flavorful foods will have me returning for sure!
