Cafe Veloce - Ambience - Italian Near Me - Kirkland, Washington

We came here for a Valentine's Day dinner--our first time visiting after hearing good things from friends and seeing solid ratings. Even with a reservation, we did have to wait a bit, but it was Valentine's Day, so totally understandable given how busy Italian spots get. Parking was pretty convenient with spaces both in front and behind the restaurant, and if those are full, it's close to the Totem Lake area so there are other options nearby. The ambiance was definitely unique--lots of mannequins, motorcycles, and a sort of roadshow vibe. It felt fun, a little quirky, and different from your typical Italian restaurant. Service was good overall, especially considering how busy it was. Our server was attentive enough and kept things moving smoothly. We started with bread and butter--nothing particularly special, but still enjoyable. The garlic herb compound butter oddly felt nostalgic and reminded me of childhood. For appetizers, we got the meatballs, which were hearty and flavorful. For my entrée, I had the seafood pasta in a wine cream sauce and really enjoyed it. There was a good amount of seafood--not super crab-heavy, but enough to get a few nice bites--and the sauce itself was light and well-balanced. My husband ordered the chicken parm, which he said was good but leaned a bit on the bland side. Overall, it feels like a solid neighborhood Italian spot. Definitely a place we'd come back to when we're in the area. read more

Friendly people and great food! Very thoughtful wine collection! We tried the Bruschetta, quatro formagio pasta and criolo pasta. The Bruschetta was different than what I have had before but it was delicious, my husband liked the quatro formagio pasta and said it was creamy and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The criolo pasta was amazing, the creole seasoning was perfect and paired really well with the Italian sausage, peppers went really well with all the flavors in the dish. We will definitely be back for trying other stuff. read more

After a long time had a really tasty Italian food. Food:5/5 Service:5/5 Ambiance :5/5 Meatballs : juicy and tasty meat balls. The tomato purée was fresh and delicious. Beef & Gorgonzola: very tasty pasta. A must try. Right amount of salt and cheese. Lasagna: one of the best lasagna I ever tasted. Authentic and delicious. Service was great and friendly. The restaurant was fully occupied and wait time was around 15 min. Ambiance was classy and motor cycle themed. Overall mus try. read more

I recently went to this restaurant with my entire family for my milestone birthday... First of all the service was good, a little slow initially but good. The food on the other hand was not enjoyed by anyone except the person who ordered pizza. All the pasta dishes were watered down like it had not been drained well. The salads were bad, old romaine lettuce. Frankly, I was a little embarrassed because two people flew in to be with me and they paid for the dinner. I'm just disappointed. I had their Gorgonzola meatballs about 4 years ago and thought it was delicious. I ordered the pasta Quattro fromaggio and it was so watery it drowned out the flavor. read more

We just had our first visit and will go again! The food is really good, the menu offers so many great meals and sides. The service great and the best thing about our meal was our server, Nicki! What a wonderful woman; she can make anything or anyone happy! She was attentive, helpful and a complete joy to be served by. She truly made our meal so much fun. read more

CV never ceases to disappoint. Hadn't been in quite some time and decided to go this evening to celebrate a new job. I realized I had never done a review! I know, shocking. I have no negatives here. From the somewhat cheeky Italian themed interior (Italian motorcycles from the 20th century) to the incredible food, I always have the best experience. Tonight was no exception. I got the seared salmon pasta special and SO got the stuffed pork loin with gnocchi. We shared the pesto cheese bread and bread with garlic butter. Finished off the meal with chocolate soufflé a la mode. Ughhhhh, I can't wait for leftovers. I also added some photos I took of food from past visits. read more

I don't normally order salads, but I'm trying to eat healthier, so I went for one today, and it completely surprised me. The lemon shrimp salad was so good. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the lemon seasoning was spot on, and the sun-dried tomatoes tied everything together. The portion was generous too, and I was so full after. The interior is amazing too, with motorcycles and really cool wall decor. Definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

The place was uniquely decorated with motorcycles, definitely gave a nice vibe. We got seats quickly on a weekday. Pastas were great. Especially, Quattro Formaggi had a blend of marinara and Alfredo that was unique. Recommend the garlic bread appetizer. Only reason for 4 star is the service was ok - for whatever reason the waiters appeared cold all the time they attended us. But food made up for it - will visit again. read more

Cafe Veloce is somewhat of a Totem Lake tradition-old school Italian with a motorcycle theme and has been on that same corner forever. The service was cordial and fast. The food is very average-large portioned and a bit overworked (and underseasoned) pastas. A lot of variety and just ok. My side Caesar in the other hand was ridiculously small. A good choice for an affordable family meal-every one will be well fed and there is something on the menu for everyone but if you are seeking great Italian food look elsewhere. read more

The restaurant is located walking distance from the Totem Lake Shopping Center. The restaurant is a bit dark and outdated but the decor makes up for it with lots of vintage motorcycles and racing memorabilia. The menu features a variety of pasta and pizza, including gluten-free options. Service was friendly and fairly quick. read more

This place looks vintage but the food is pretty good. The pasta is a good size as well that I managed to still have some leftovers. The staff are really friendly and were asking us what we needed. I also ordered the strawberry lemonade soda. The location does have some parking and is very close to totem lake mall. Love their decor inside very retro and lots of old motorcycles. read more

Veloce Cafe is a local favorite we've visited over 100 times for its consistently delicious food. The stuffed pork shank with fontina, raisins, and cream sauce served with gnocchi is my all-time favorite--a rich, indulgent dish that's worth searching for on the menu. The Capri Salad (not caprese) with goat cheese and nuts is another standout, always fresh and flavorful. Their pizzas are also fantastic, with crispy crusts and bold toppings, though the lasagna is a bit underwhelming and doesn't match the rest of the menu's quality. However, our most recent visit had some service hiccups. Our waiter, a young African American gentleman who seemed new to the role, was noticeably slow. Bread and water took a while to arrive, and my boyfriend's meal came out over 16 minutes before mine, which was a first for us here. As a slow eater, this didn't bother me too much, but it frustrated him. The restaurant wasn't busy--only a third of the tables were even set for patrons--but the staff, including servers, cooks, and hosts, kept gathering at the hostess stand to chat, which slowed everything down. Despite these issues, because I love Italian food and it is less than 3 miles away-Veloce Cafe and Pizza Bank will stay on our family's regular rotation. With a bit more focus on customer service even at the end of the night, this place would be perfect. read more

My husband was super excited to go here as the restaurant is decorated with Cafe Racers. The menu was simple, not too big. The price is overall reasonable. We got the Dungeness Scallopini and Lamb Lasagna. They were both mediocre. Dungeness Scallopini was very liquidy, I wish the Alfredo sauce was thicker and stuck to the fettuccine more. The Lasagna was pretty dry, we were surprised to see the lack of sauce. Service was good despite them being busy hosting a wine dinner. We ended the night with a tiramisu. That's usually a great way to judge an Italian restaurant, by trying their homemade tiramisu and it was delicious! read more

Waiter was unprofessional, pasta dish was missing ingredients because per waiter they were low on that ingredient. Forgot to bring bread and laughed at my dinner guest when the food wasn't as advertised. I suspect a recent ownership change as I have gone to this business for over 25 years. Decided to stop in on a whim. I drive by here all the time and haven't been in in years. I was quickly seated, but then had to wait quite a while before the waitress came. When she took my order, she was very curt almost to the point of rude. I ordered one of their salads that had olives, artichoke hearts , tomatoes & onion chunks. There was only one artichoke heart on the whole salad. I also ordered bread with garlic butter. The bread was not warm, the garlic butter was good and ordered the beef Bolognese for my entrée which was OK but dry. Everything was just OK except for the service really was exceptionally poor for their prices. I will not be going back. read more

This is our go to place whenever I am craving Pasta because of their amazing vegetarian options. This time we ordered the Mediterranean pasta and a pizza to go with it. Both were amazing! We found this place on RESY and made a reservation on that platform. We wanted to use our dining credits that come with the American Express Gold cards and this seemed like a great place to try great Italian food. We took the 11:00 slot and we were the first to be seated. We were seated right by the fireplace and it was cozy, warm, and welcoming. The interior was very unique with various racing themes and motorcycles on the center wall. Service was friendly and responsive. Ordered items: 1. Lavender Lemonade - from non-alcoholic drinks menu 2. Veloce Signature Meatballs Garlic Cheese Bread - from Happy Hour menu 3. Caprese - from Happy Hour menu 4. Dungeness Scallopini - from full menu 5. Gino - from full menu 6. Tiramisu We thoroughly enjoyed all the items. I loved the meatballs so much. They were so tasty that I almost regretted not ordering from the full menu. Caprese was very flavorful and fresh. My favorite was Dungeness Scallopini and the portion was pretty generous. It had a nice balance of myriad of seafood and vegetables and the alfredo sauce was a perfect blanket of both fettuccine pasta and all the toppings. It was unique (to me anyway) and delicious. Gino was also pretty unique and to us, it was on the saltier side but we still enjoyed the dish. We didn't finish this one and took it home. I loved my Lavender Lemonade, also unique to me. Tiramisu was not too great but still delicious for us to end our meal with. read more

Excellent customer service, great food, and cool decor. I love the motorcycles ghat separate the dining room from the bar area. We ordered a Ceasar salad, garlic cheese bread, lasagna, and a margherita pizza. I appreciate the freshly dressed Caesar salad however it was overdressed and very lemony. But the saltiness of the parmesan cheese and the croutons was a nice complement to the salad. The garlic cheese bread was yummy, but I wish it had more cheese. I loved the crunchiness of the crust and the somewhat soft yet crisp bread center. The lasagna was amazing. It was meaty and cheesy. The Margherita pizza was different. We thought it was going to be the traditional pie, with a tomato base, sliced mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and fresh basil however this was completely untraditional. The crust was good. It had a white sauce, cheese and diced tomatoes on top. It looked different, tastes different, but was surprisingly delicious. We would have loved to try desserts but already had somewhere else in mind so we skipped. Overall, I would go back again. read more

Out of all the places in the totem lake plaza, this gotta be the best especially for the price. The pasta is seasoned better than most of the broccoli head bois out there lifting at 24hr fitness afterschool. Def recommend getting the pizza thin crust cause it did remind me of the thickness of school lunch pizza in a good way. Service was fast but def weird about the not warm/toasted bread. Wait on a Friday night was like 40 mins so be prepped. Bulk approved read more

Made a reservation for a girls' dinner. I ordered the pesto chicken pasta and appreciated that they offered a choice between breaded or grilled chicken -- most places usually only offer the breaded option. The portion size was very generous; I even had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Considering both the quality and quantity, the price was very reasonable. Our server was attentive and kept checking in throughout the meal. Overall, it was a pleasant and decent experience. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely go back! read more

Service was probably the best things going for this place . If you like looking at Italian motorcycles or dates race paraphernalia, then you would say the decor is amazing. I, however, will say it's trying hard to have an Italian theme but comes off as a classy biker bar. Weekly lunch specials are a good deal if you want to soup and sandwich out of the office. It could have been a good place for a beer or glass of wine, but the area has better spots. I had hoped to find a good pizza place but I am positive the base pizza was made a day ahead of bought from somewhere else (possible frozen). The crust layer was too cool to be that perfectly cooked. The toppings were too warm to have actually been cooked with that crust. I think they use a base pizza and mask it with toppings. The meatball are literally balls of meat. I doubt they even add any spices or herbs or even salt & pepper they are so flavorless. They cover mediocrity with cheese in the hope it compensate or distract. It doesn't work. read more

The food was so bad. I was shocked.. how can you get pasta wrong! There was no salt or taste to the pasta dishes we ordered. The garlic bread was too salty. Service was friendly but the food is sub par. If you are in the area do yourselves a favor and walk a block to Due Cucina instead for good pasta. read more

The ambience is cute - the space is decorated with F1 and Moto and motorcycle displays. There's also a large fireplace which seems like it would be nice on a cold day The food was good and the drinks were OK but a bit expensive for what was delivered. The service was horrible . Our waiter was not attentive, forgot items that were requested, then forgot again when he was reminded. I asked three times for a water refill and never received it, never received a refill on my pricey, iced tea, and never did get that sugar I requested. I was not impressed. Had the service been better this would be a five star review, but instead it's only three. I'll hesitate to go back. read more

Excellent convivial decor with the motorcycle theme! Got the seafood pasta with crab and the pesto one ( fettuccine pasta + extra chicken Parmesan) . We deeply regretted our decision to try this restaurant tonight. The review was great with 4.1 stars so we thought this place must be amazing. Pasta: 2/5. Both Quattro formaggi and basil shrimp pasta were very disappointing. They tasted like a kid cooked pasta with a canned or jarred sauce. We were so tired from workout and were so hungry that we ate, but we don't need to come back here again. We felt that Olive Garden might actually be better than this place. Bread: 1/5. Cold and not tasty at all. My boyfriend decided to feed it to birds later. Service: 3/5. Our server was nice. No complaints. Ambiance: 3/5. It almost looks like a diner with motorcycles. Overall, we should have gone to Paradiso or somewhere. read more

We went in on a weekend and they were busy. Fortunately we had a reservation. The service was great, lighting dim with a cute diner style decor. The furniture was a bit dated and our table kept rocking, making the waters spill. We got the salicito pasta with chicken, a margherita pizza and a Lamberetta with chicken. Overall the food was decent, but the chicken felt a bit stale and hard. The food felt a bit more American Italian with a lot of cheese to make it indulgent. This place was all right. I'm a snob when it comes to Italian food, and this place didn't meet my standards so take my opinion with a grain of salt. My friend got a pizza and I had the lasagne. It had fresh sliced tomatoes (???) and besides that, tasted ok. No bread or salad with it, seemed overpriced for that. My friend liked their sausage, ham and pepperoni pizza that was a 1-person size, but commented there was a serious lack of cheese which I agreed with. We had the lambretta chicken pizza and the lamb lasagna. The food was ok, but not awesome. For instance I found that the chicken in the pizza was a bit dry and also the crust wasn't my favorite. The lasagna was better though I would have liked some more lamb in it. Service was OK no major complaints but it felt that they didn't pay attention to small things that could have enhanced our experience. As an example, the place was cold with the AC on and had to wear our jackets (most customers did), the waitress acknowledged but didn't try to mitigate. read more

Elderly guests rushed out with unnecessary hostility My elderly mother, aunt, and disabled uncle- who have lived in this neighborhood for years and have been regular customers of Cafe Veloce for decades - brought me here around 11:30am after picking me up from the airport. We didn't realize the restaurant wasn't open yet. A man came out from the back clearly frustrated and immediately told us we needed to leave. Before we could even ask what time they open, he repeatedly said "i need you to move, you need to get out" and stood directly behind my family, becoming increasingly impatient with how slowly they were walking. My uncle is recovering from a fall and my mother has bad knees - they move carefully and were confused, just trying to ask a normal question. As they made their way to the door, his behavior became aggressive and hostile. He rushed them from behind, nearly pushing them out, snapping that the hours were "right on the door." He then closed and locked the door immediately, barely allowing them time to get out. The lack of patience was shocking. The tone and body language were cold and dismissive, and we were treated with a complete lack of courtesy after making an innocent mistake. Watching elderly family members be hurried and spoken to this way was deeply upsetting. What made this especially unfortunate was seeing how disappointed my aunt and uncle were. They were excited to bring me to a place they've loved for years and later said they had never experienced anything like this here before. Being early doesn't justify that level of hostility. I'm still appalled by how it felt to be shooed out the door and treated without basic respect, and I hope management is aware of this interaction and takes steps to ensure it doesn't happen again. read more
