We are with friends from Kirkland and they wanted to show off the favorite places. Walked over from the Heathman Hotel and were seated in a beautiful intimate room. The male server who was taking our order decided he didn't want to serve us based on a slow decision on a drink order. We are a party of six adults. We hadn't fully looked at the menu as we just sat down. He literally judged us and said he wouldn't serve us based on our slow response. It was truly rude and unjustified. As an owner I would want to know how my employees are treating the guests. I have worked in the industry and this was totally unacceptable. We sadly will not be retuning. read more

A small restaurant which only has 15 tables is quite a find. Located near the lake, parking is quite challenging. The moral of the story is leave early for your reservation. And now for the food. It was wonderful. We started with the chèvre tartin. It was creamy and a good balance of sweet and savory. My entree was the duck breast. I didn't particularly like the red sauce on the plate, but the duck was wonderful and the polenta was very tasty. My husband had the risotto with shrimp. The only downside was that the tails were still on the shrimp. We shared the strawberry-passionfruit sorbet. It was creamy, but not too sweet and had an amazing flavor. Husband's favorite was the Dot Dot Dot. Best note to say was it was interesting! Ambiance is dimly lit and its not overly loud. It is a perfect lounge to just hangout and drink. The truffle fries came with a delicious garlic aoli. We started with the Boise in the Hood and the Penicillin. The penicillin has a Laphroigh spray which I didn't like because I'm not a big Laphroigh fan, but the person I was with loved it. Even though it was still early evening, it felt intimate and cozy inside. Restrooms are large and well stocked, and service was great. While everything was warm, I like mine to start hot and cool to warm on the table. I didn't have to blow on anything to cool it down. The flavors were great. I get why the mushroom pasta is popular. The porcini were very "meaty" and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The bread that was served with the mussels was perfect. Dipped that in the cream broth, which had lentils. I ordered a green Isaac, and my husband got a whiskey drink I can't remember the name of. The drinks were unique and delicious! We ordered the almonds, smoked beet salad, lamb sliders, and the beef tartar. Everything was absolutely fantastic. The star of the show was the tartar, we couldn't believe how good it was. For dessert, we had the pillow mint drinks. They were fantastic as well, like a drink version of an Andes mint! The staff is down to earth and friendly, and the atmosphere is a nice mixture of western, cozy, and dark academia. We will absolutely be coming back. We woke up this morning talking about the tartar. I think Kirkland is a great spot for a place like this, as they stay open late, and are a tasteful and classy vibe. I have to highly recommend the octopus on the menu, as well as the beach salad! Both 4.5 stars! I would say the drinks are dependent on who is making the drinks, I know we had a super personable bar manager named Cody, and that was really nice to interact with him and also learn a little bit about his flare on drinks. I would say that not everything on the menu is exceptional, but everything is at least tasty/good. Every every single time I have come here, it's been later in the night, and finding parking is never an issue. Both were good although I liked the former more; it was spirit-forward with a hint of sweetness. I also tried a sip of the bourbon au poivre which was similar but not as sweet. My sister and brother in law live walking distance and have always talked about how much they love this place. We made a reservation for a Saturday at 7:30 and were seated in a booth. The restaurant was completely full so I assume having a reservation is highly recommended. The restaurant is dimly lit with a great menu and an ever better cocktail and spirit list. We started with cocktails - the hibiscus sour, enjoy the vieux, boise in the hood, and another gin cocktail. They all felt like the bartender had taken a great amount of time putting them together. We opted to share appetizers - the smoked beat salad, the kale caesar, and the octopus. The servings were a great portion size to share amongst 4 people. We followed that with the crab and shrimp risotto, the burger, and the vegetable campanelle. My sister in law is dairy free and they were easily able to make her pasta vegan. My husband and I had a great Sunday dinner at Bottle & Bull! We decided on it on very short notice, but we were able to reserve a table for 2 just a couple hours before. Inside the restaurant is dark and cozy. They have plenty of room for big groups and smaller tables for two. The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our time there. To start two of the bacon wrapped dates, the Brussels sprouts with bacon foam, and corn chowder. The dates were pretty underwhelming and small based on the cost ($2.75 a piece). However the corn chowder and sprouts were amazing! The corn chowder was creamy and warmed us right up. And the sprouts were charred to perfection while the foam was a cool new experience. Definitely elevated the dish! For our mains I ordered the crab and wild prawn risotto, while my husband got the steak frites. My risotto was perfect and the seafood was a nice balance. The steak was cooked medium as requested, but the peppercorn sauce on top was a little too much. The steak should be allowed to shine on its own. Maybe they should consider including the sauce on the side? Total with a couple of drinks and tip was $140. Overall it was a great experience and we can wait to visit again! read more
