Looking for a spot near Kirkland waterfront and found this place. Great atmosphere friendly staff. We sat outside and nice view after the parking lot of the park and waterfront. Ordered mushroom flat bread and it was delicious. Drinks we tried the Keyser Saze and last widow. Both were delicious. Def will come back to this spot. read more

This a great spot and is open late. The ambiance and vibe are classy but casual. The servers are friendly and attentive. The cocktails are outstanding. And the menu has lots of great snacks that can be shared as you sip fancy cocktails. The tater tots are a particular favorite. Definitely a great spot to meetup with some friends. read more

This wasn't our first choice but when we were turned down at another bar due to seat unavailability, we decided to try them out. We were immediately seated and attended. The server was sweet and friendly and walked us through the taste profile of different cocktails. I ordered the Big nutty Fig which tasted like an old Fashioned but sweeter. As a result, I ordered the Old fashioned after that lol. The other people in my party ordered The Sage Old Fashioned, the Kentucky Mule and straight up Elijah Craig as well. None of the drinks disappointed. We also got the fries with Fetta and Honey and the stake and tomato Flatbread. Very unusual combo but both kick ass. The bar is not huge but there is plenty of seating and some outdoors as well. Service was fantastic. read more

Stopped into Vovina for some drinks and had an awesome time! Service was on point, and the vibe was just right. The outdoor patio is super cool--with plenty of seating and a couple of fire pit tables that make it extra cozy. We had a few shots of Jameson, a Midori Sour, and a Blueberry Lemon Drop--all delicious! Definitely a great spot to chill and sip with good company. read more

Cozy little spot with great vibe! Little longer wait time to get a table and it's first come first serve basis so just have to wait there for a table which can be a little tedious. Cocktails were refreshing and food was good - we got the truffle tots and flatbreads. Flatbreads could use more flavorful toppings but overall good! The dessert was unique and delicious. Definitely a spot where you can enjoy your time and spend hours chatting away with a bottle of wine. read more

The place is small, intimate. Really ideal for a small group or a couple. The music is a bit loud for conversation, not quite in the background, but we were able to hear one another well enough by leaning in close. The food was delicious. We had the Hawaiian flatbread, edamame (wonderfully spiced), truffle tots, and crudite plate. All were delicious, particularly the onion jam with the veg. The staff were accommodating of our special needs family members. The seating is not terribly comfortable but it fits the casual vibe nicely. We will go back. read more

Don't go for Happy Hour because service is terribly slow. (Maybe for non-HH is worth it but I won't be finding out.) If you go, just get a drink. Order you next round when you finally get your first drinks. You will have long finished your first drink before your server comes back. As for food, it's ok but I ate mostly from the HH menu. The flatbread is fine but it's a pizza with an upscale name. As for the tots, why did they take over a half hour? They are generic tots. I can't believe you have that small of a frier or you got so slammed with tot orders to take so long. read more

Great little spot in Kirkland! They have really cool cocktails with fun ingredients and it's always interesting to see what the current offerings are. I recently discovered the French Martinique and LOVE it! A little sweet and very cute presentation. They also have a lovely wine list with something for everything. My friends and I love coming here for happy hour to get a fun cocktail and a few snacks before dinner or to catch up! They have lots of great appetizers to share- I love the tater tots and the hummus platter and have heard great things about the steak bites! Unfortunately, we had a little of a Gnat problem in the back corner of the restaurant..(I mean it's summer, it happens) two of them ended up flying into my SO drink so he couldn't finish it (bc gross) but our server happily took that drink off for us. TINY restaurant, TINY staff, TINY tables, TINY portions - HUGE PRICE!!! To the business owner Katy B. who leaves incredibly snarky replies to poor reviews and tries to discredit their legitimacy by claiming that the folks didn't pay their bill or were in a different restaurant than Vovina. I was in your restaurant and I paid - all $70 for my TINY meal and uninspiring drinks! At Vovina on a Wed night for happy hour, $70 will get you: - 1 dirty gin martini - I like gin, I love olives, but I hated the drink. Sent it back sans one taste and one olive and wasn't comped. - 1 of the worst margaritas I ever had - who uses lemon instead of lime without mentioning it? Tasted like watery lemonade served in a highball glass instead of a margarita glass - I would have sent it back but didn't want to pay $19 without getting anything to drink other than water! - 1 small salad with a good-sized chicken breast - 1 "small plate of Brussel sprouts" as it was named on the menu. They were the highlight of the evening. Order ahead and get those for takeout - skip the rest of the experience. Also: TINY restaurant - There was no air-conditioning and very stale unmoving air - scary for COVID. TINY staff - the reviews that say "don't come here for happy hour are 100% correct. I was there from 3:45 - 6:00 pm (yes, it took that long to get and pay for my TINY expensive meal, The red-head female bartender that others have referred to was working her butt off! She was super-pleasant despite having to tend the bar, take orders, and often deliver the food for seven tables (inside and outside). They had one other person bringing out orders. Finally, another server arrived at 6 pm to help serve the 25+ customers. I left a 20% tip (minus the cost of the martini I returned because I felt bad for her). I saw people bussing their own tables. TINY tables - I guess it is good that the portions are so small because the tables are puny and we had to keep shifting our food and empties around so that our 4-person group could eat. Would have been helpful to have more staff to bus tables. I wish that I had read all of the true negative reviews before going. Now all I can do is warn others. read more

They're open on Mondays which is rare. It's actually the reason we chose to go there. The place is a little "dive-y" - a bit beat down. They raved about their charcuterie board but I didn't see anything special (I am not a fan of "meat blocks" on a charcuterie board or anywhere else). Truffle tots was identified as their "prize dish". It was good. Not amazing. Overall, if you're looking for a hang on a Monday - go to Vovina. If you're hanging on a Wednesday, try something else. Dark, wine bar with a cool vibe. Fire pit area outside was too busy so we sat at the bar. Service was spot on and so were our cocktails. Male bartender was above and beyond with customer service. He was very friendly and attentive. Cocktails were $14 each, little high. Charcuterie was just ok but not worth $24. Wish it had soft cheese as an option and different crackers. They do have a good wine list, but the pricing is HIGH. Think $25-$45 PER GLASS. Some of the wines this made sense for, but they really should consider adding a wine or two below $25 per glass. I have my WSET 2 and know a decent amount about wines so could understand why some of them were priced like this, but the whole menu being this high was strange. $32 for a glass of pinot noir didn't sit right with me. We asked to do flights so we could try a few things, but they said they were only doing glass pours. We asked for a rec for an acidic, fruity red and felt like the gal just told us the most expensive non-tannic red on the menu. Fine. For $32 a glass, I would not order what I got again. We headed to a restaurant after and got $14 glass pours that we preferred. This is a great place to go to impress someone with the chic vibes, but good wine can be found elsewhere at a fraction of the price. I do see the appeal though. We made a reservation for a Thursday dinner for our anniversary a few weeks in advance as we have done times before. When the hostess goes to seat us, we were brought to the table that you would only want if it was the last table available (no view, in the middle of the walking area, by the doors back to kitchen, no vibe, all hassle) we politely ask to move up to one of the several two tops available at the front (it was not that busy of a night) We sit. We wait. We wait. We finish the entire carafe of water. We wait. Finally our server comes to ask us for our cocktail order (30 minutes after sitting, we were on the cusp of walking out). Our cocktails take a while, which again is odd since it is not a packed house. Not once does she come to check in. Another 25 minutes passes and our waitress finally comes over and says our drinks should be there soon, and finally asked if we wanted to order an app, we did. 35 minutes after our first drink order, cocktails finally arrive. They were good. Fun James Bond theme to the list. We finished both cocktails and two appetizers. Our entire table was cleared by the busman and so we continued to admire the scenery before our waitress remembered we existed and came around to ask our order for entrees (We sat with no drinks and no apps for a very long time. The table next to us even commented on how long our service and their service was taking having noticed us sitting there with a cleared table). From order time of the main course until our food arrived - maybe another 25-30 minutes. When our food came, we were expectedly hungry and just perplexed from the experience. Food was good. Prices went up due to the economy. That's fine. It is expected these days. Again our table is cleared, our waitress again remembers we exist - drops off a dessert menu unenthusiastically. Walks away. We definitely didn't want to have to wait for dessert at this point. We let her know just the check would be fine when she comes back around and she changes to be especially bubbly, friendly and enthusiastic for the first time all evening - minutes before dropping off the check which had a surprise of 3% service surcharge. Didn't say what the service charge was for. Didn't mention it inside the menu. We later found out by looking online that it is listed in small print on the bottom of the back - it's for the option to use credit card and you are charged this before you put down a card or cash. You are then taxed at the 10%+ sales tax for this added surprise charge. People in our party often pay or split in cash- this is improper. All to conclude with minimum suggested tip at 20%. You wouldn't accept this service at a pub, a dive bar, or a proper fine dining restaurant - you shouldn't accept it at what this place has become. This was our first date night in while and a special celebration for our wedding anniversary and it truly affected the evening and made us feel like we had wasted our time and our money that could have been better spent elsewhere. We wish we had walked out after the first 30 minutes of waiting to place a drink order. Save your money, you'll get better service at most anywhere else (we skipped the affogato and tiramisu we usually order and went for dessert at Burgermaster instead) That efficient and friendly busman was oddly the highlight of the night and the saving grace from this being a one star experience. Cheers.

Would give this place a zero for the employees if I could. This place is racist as fuck. My group of friends were called Asian whores. They took our pictures (without warning) and told us we were not welcome here. Threatened to call the cops on us apparently. I had no idea this ordeal was going on until we already left the establishment. I initially thought we were leaving the place because we were calling it a night. Our friend that checked the bill told us that the employees there had an issue with me. Before you judge, let me tell you from beginning to end from MY POV. We came in to have some drinks for our friend's birthday. They checked our vax cards and IDs. Group of 7. We were seated and ordered 1 round of shots. They forgot one drink (my drink). Didn't think anything of it. No big deal. My drink was eventually brought out. Cheered and took our shots! From my POV it was all good times! I was chatting it up with the birthday girl and we were having a great time! As time passed (after the 1st shot of drinks) I went to the restroom, came back and was told that we ordered a 2nd round of shots. Apparently, I was being watched by the bartender (red head with tattoos that served us the whole night AND WAS ALSO THE ONE BARTENDING). Specifically ME. They told my friend that I needed to be cut off. I had no idea that there was a concern about me. I was not disruptive amongst my surroundings and stayed within my group of friends. HOLY SHIT, wtf did I do? Y'all got cameras for this shit? No one came up to me to talk to me/cut me off. Please tell wtf did I do wrong!?!? Genuinely do not know what I did for this outcome!? Honestly, I already know how this shit will end. No repercussions for racists! My friend stood up for us as he was paying for the tab and were called Asian whores after we already left. Threatened by calling the cops cause he spoke up. Check your fucking employees. read more

This is seriously a great place! It's somewhat hard to peg. They make very good, creative, craft cocktails. The service is friendly and competent, the owner is usually there and she is warm and personable. The food is inventive, delicious, small-plate-shareable style. The by-the-glass wine list is quite extensive, and has some of my Washington favorites that are hard to find as well as great international stuff (French champagne! Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc!). But all that doesn't really sum it up. It's a very small, almost speakeasy type of place. Big bar, small tables. Like, you have to know where to go to find it. It's got quite a few regulars and seems like a very local place. They have a members club - you get a glass with your name etched on it - and those people are there a lot. It feels like a Cheers bar. It has a wonderful ambience, great music, nice people. I just really like it there. read more

Having lived in Kirkland for nearly two years and the surrounding Eastside areas, I have to say VoVina' is doing a fine job. Their cocktails are spot on and the bartender makes every drink to sophistication. He hand slices the oranges, limes, strawberries, and herbs on order and never prior (these makes for some of the 'freshest' cocktails) I enjoy spending an afternoon here because its small enough that you can carry a lively conversation but also bring a group of friends and have your own little party on the patio or in one of their booths. The fireplace is darling and I can't wait to go and grab a seat by in come Autumn. I highly recommend giving this place a go. It's worth it. Cheers. read more

Almost between a pasta and gnocchi texture with fresh lemon and pesto--perfection. The HH pappardelle had some clumped noodles, which happens every once in a while, which affects my bites but not the flavor. Michelle and the Sammamish River Trail, and there is a lot to like here. Food & Drink: The food is very good across the board. The chicken sandwich is a standout, and they have some of the better wings in the area if you like a dry rub. The fish and chips have a solid crunch despite being light/airy, and both the beef and lamb burgers are well executed. The homemade black bean burger is an underrated vegan option. The Green Goddess salad is also pretty good, and gluten-free buns are available. They rotate in seasonal items as well, so there is usually something different on the menu. The bar leans more toward cocktails and whiskey than beer. The whiskey selection is great. Other spirits are less diverse, but there is enough to make most cocktails. They are solid at making the classics--I've had the Martini, Paper Plane, Gimlet, and Manhattan here, and all have been very good. The seasonal cocktail menu is also usually well done, with options built around a variety of spirits. This isn't a top-grade cocktail program, but it is pretty solid and fits the vibe of the place well. One of their quirks is the alcoholic milkshake. I haven't had one, but have heard good things. The beer menu is probably a little weak in terms of options for somewhere with "Tavern" in the name. They still have some local brews on tap, but beer clearly isn't the focus here. Ambiance & Service: Hollywood Tavern has a great location in Woodinville, near Chateau Ste. Michelle and the Sammamish River Trail. There is a decently sized parking lot that usually doesn't overflow. The outdoor seating area is solid, complete with Adirondack chairs and a fire pit. Inside looks and feels like a tavern. There is some great wall art showing the building from when it was a gas station and Woodinville was still "out in the sticks." The interior is basically divided into two halves, with the bar on one side. There is a nice rustic wood-top bar with seating for maybe ten, plus additional high-top seating along the windows. There is also an indoor/outdoor-feeling section along the road. There is usually a good buzz in the room. It isn't a quiet or intimate spot, but it also isn't really a "socialize with the locals" type of tavern. It works particularly well for a casual date night or a guys' or girls' night out. Country music (Bluegrass/Americana) is usually what's playing (fairly quietly). It also works surprisingly well for families. Between the noise level and lack of formal dining, it is a good option for a "fancy" family dinner where everyone can still relax. The kids menu is fairly standard, but portions are solid and the value is good. Kids get crayons and coloring menus, and parents can actually enjoy the food and drinks without feeling like they brought their kids somewhere they shouldn't have. Service is above average. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the service fits the casual atmosphere well. Final Thoughts: Five stars. Think upscale tavern with more of a focus on cocktails than beer, but with country music and a rustic finish. Hollywood Tavern combines very good food, solid cocktails, a great whiskey selection, above-average service, and one of the better casual atmospheres in Woodinville. It works equally well for a casual date night, a night out with friends, or a nicer family dinner. Von's or The Shed, will get the press/publicity in the area, but for me, this place is an underrated gem. -AC

The staff is always friendly, the vibe is always chill, and the food is fantastic. My favorite is the prawns - they are phenomenally tasty.
