I had been to Angelo's with a friend for lunch and tried the eggplant pamagiana. It was incredibly good and the price was just right. So encouraged by that I took my family for dinner. I had a glass of wine which was strictly okay then followed up with beet salad which was actually pretty good. I ate the eggplant Diana which was frankly a disappointment. I felt the flavors did not come together. My son had the fettuccini Alfredo which was again average and my husband had the lemon chicken which he said wasn't that great. We followed it up with dessert, a pumpkin cheesecake which was good but nothing mind blowing. The place does have a beautiful and cosy ambiance and the service is courteous and friendly. Food was really good! The sauce sticks to the pasta so whenever you eat the pasta you can taste your sauce (basically it isn't runny or anything like that). Ordered the prosciutto and peas, the special seafood pasta, also minestrone soup. They were a little under staffed that evening despite that they took care of our table so diligently. This place was such a great find! It's one of those classic, family-run Italian spots that feels like it's been around forever--in the best way. The vibe is old-school Italian, super cozy, and has that "everyone knows each other" kind of charm. We tried the Linguine Pesto and the Eggplant Diana, and both were delicious. The pesto was fresh and so flavorful, and the eggplant dish was pure comfort food. The service was honestly amazing. Logistically, they share a parking lot with some other restaurants and while it was fairly full, no one had any problems with finding parking. Highlights: - Seafood Cannelloni (4.25/5): Came out piping hot baked in the serving dish with a generous amount of crab. Definitely a bit heavy, but super luxurious with a slight sweetness from the seafood options. - Calamari (4/5): Nice, light crisp on the outside and good snap on the squid. Came to celebrate family patriarch and matriarch celebrating their 90 and 83 bdays respectively. For a table of 10 the staff was welcoming and warm and very accommodating. Definitely make reservation! The pricing was reasonable and fair considering drinks were consumed and we ordered appetizers. Which... get the bruschetta. Yummy!!! Could have eaten the whole plate. I was enticed to come here by all people, an Italian man who sold me furniture. He spent a lot of time with me. Hearing I was Croatian, he invited me to come here for dinner with him. He raved about the delicious Italian style steak they had here. And, insisted I would love it. I absolutely loved this place. It was warm and welcoming. Reminiscent of my grandparents kitchen. I occasionally need warmth and welcoming in my dining experience and it was definitely here. We started out with calamari. Nicely done, cooked to a soft texture. I wanted more, such as to try the soup. But my dining companion insisted I save room for the steak, The Italian Steak, Topped with sweet pepper sauce. The steak was really tender and well seasoned. The pepper sauce was so good. Sweet peppers can add so much flavor to a dish. I also detected a bit of wine sauce. This steak was worth the accolades of my dining companion. Ohh, great bread. I would recommend that you try this out based on the quality and tastiness of the food as well as the great service Being gluten-free, there wasn't as many choices as I would have hoped, but that kind of ends up being the norm sometimes in Italian restaurants. They do not have Gluten-free pasta, which is surprising since most Italian restaurants at least have one type of gluten-free pasta. The waitress said that they just don't have room in the kitchen for a dedicated pot. The house salad that came with the meal was delicious although they came with cheese, even though we asked for it to be dairy free. But they were very apologetic and quickly remade them and that's the best you can ask for with any mistake. Can be really flexible with the menu in terms of doing the different meat dishes with different pasta combinations. It was like being at an old-school Italian restaurant with the owners helping you in that they were so flexible and friendly. I really miss that with places these days. I liked the ambience inside. I didn't know what to expect its location. I'm sorry to say that I cannot remember what specific dishes we got since I'm writing this review about a month after we ate there. My husband got a pasta dish and I got a meat dish. But I can tell you they were very delicious and I can tell you that we will be back. read more

We made reservations for a group and they were very accommodating and let us sit early before the rest of the party came. Very mom and pop vibe. We got clams, caprese salad (good portion size), calamari (smaller portion and not super crispy), and bruschetta (good portion size). For entrees, we got the spicy seafood pasta (good portion of large seafood with a not too spicy sauce) and clam linguine (which unfortunately my kids didn't like citing no flavor and they usually LOVE clam linguine). The menu is fairly small but they do have specials off menu. We finished off with the chocolate panna cotta (which is really thick and sweet), vanilla gelato, and Italian cheesecake (very different -- more fluffy with almonds). read more

Okay, Angelo's Restaurant was quite a pleasant surprise. I didn't know what to expect from Angelo's, which is in the most unassuming business strip in the Wilburton neighborhood, as it's next to auto repair shops and other random businesses that you wouldn't know about unless you were seeking out for it. But I gotta say, our dining experience was wonderful. We had a reservation for a Friday night, so were able to be seated immediately for the four of us. Angelo's truly is an old school, Italian restaurant that's been around years before the light rail station next to it or the new buildings just blocks away from here. Expect dim lighting, red leather booths and a wine list that takes up an entire page. The menu had a lot of to choose from, with small plates, pastas, to heartier entrees like chicken, veal and steaks. We started with the crostini with fig jam and goat cheese and for my meal, I ordered a cup of the clam chowder and an entrée caesar salad with salmon. Everyone very much enjoyed their food. I loved how lightly baked my salmon was, so it wasn't overcooked. And I love a big salad, which the caesar here was filling and solid. For dessert, my partner and I shared the Italian cheesecake, which differs than a standard cheesecake as it's made with ricotta, so has a lighter and more airy texture to it. It was different, but in a good way. I liked how much chocolate chips were in the cheesecake too, adding some chocolatey goodness and crunch. BUT, next time I'm definitely ordering the tiramisu. Of course after we ordered our desserts, the sommelier tells us the story of the tiramisu, which they get from Milan! Previously, a relative of Angelo's made the tiramisu, but has since passed on. So the owners shopped around at local bakeries to find the best tiramisu, and none of them met their expectations, which is why they just get their tiramisu from the source of it all, Milan, Italy! Amazing. Angelo's is a small, family-run business that's been in Bellevue before Bellevue became Bellevue, if ya catch my drift. I really enjoyed the knowledgeable staff, welcoming setting, and delicious food that's traditional, classic Italian fare. Most importantly, there is a lot of pride that comes from this restaurant, which is made aware the moment you step in. I will most certainly be back, especially for the tiramisu. read more

I just called there, and asked if I could place an order to go. The woman on the other end rudely said, no, we are too busy. You can try calling back in 15 minutes. And before I could hang up she hung up on me. I have no words to describe how awful that interaction felt. Wow. Disgusting, overpriced slop. Save yourself the trouble and eat anywhere else. The service was acceptable, but everything that came to the table was inedible. Atmosphere felt like an early 2000s bowling alley, and the cutlery we had was dirty. The complimentary bread that came to the table consisted of sliced off end pieces of a stale loaf. There was 1 slice that was roughly the size of the palm of my hand, and the other 4 slices were about 1 inch in diameter and something that should normally be thrown away. Judging a restaurant on their free food doesn't make sense, so we proceeded to order the most basic Italian dish that couldn't possibly be screwed up: spaghetti. The spaghetti comes with a side salad that is clearly a bag of spring mix from the grocery store. I declined to order the meatballs originally since the spaghetti had been advertised as having meat sauce. Why order meat balls when there's meat in the sauce? When our food arrived, we found a nearly invisible amount of meat in the sauce. I was disappointed but still hopeful, so I ordered a side of 4 meatballs to add to our spaghetti. While waiting for the meatballs, I decided to try the spaghetti and see what it was about. The spaghetti was the worst food I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Coated in oil, overcooked noodles, and an abominable sauce. I couldn't believe they even called this food, let alone charged $21 for it. At this point, I thought it couldn't get any worse, but that was because the meatballs hadn't arrived yet. When the meatballs came, it took everything in me to not openly gag. 4 of the driest looking meatballs I've ever seen were placed on the table and had a topping of marinara. The problem was what was underneath the meatballs. Roughly an inch of standing oil, topped with a thin layer of marinara. It was vile. Our server was the only tolerable part of the experience, but I have no idea how she was comfortable serving that to someone. After all of this, we ended up taking one bite and asking for the check. In all my life, I've never been so disappointed with a dining experience. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner, expecting us to have a nice Italian meal. What we received was anything but. The only thing I can give Angelo's credit for is getting me to write this Yelp review in the hopes that no one has to ever experience this pathetic excuse of a restaurant. Staff where cheerful, atmosphere homey. My wife ordered clam linguine, I ordered a special - salmon, shrimp and spinach fettucine. My entree arrived promptly, but my wife's did not accompany it. I waited a few minutes, my wife said go ahead and eat, don't let it get cold. I couldn't share it with her as it had things in it she does not eat. So I started, finding the dish underwhelming. Very little (bay) shrimp and dried out salmon. Server came by in a few minutes and said she'd check on the linguine order. It eventually came out 20 minutes later, and my wife said it was great. Server added a "coupon" to the bill to take off $9 (about a third of cost of dish). Which was nice, but I noticed the bill also included a glass of wine that we did not have (I had one glass of chianti for $9, we were billed for that and also $11 for some random wine). Server whisked the bill off and corrected it, apologizing profusely. We do plan on returning to try some other dishes, and see if this is just a hiccup. read more

Best pasta spot on the east side? I think so! Angelos is a cozy spot for your Italian cravings. They have tasty wines and great recommendations if you're not sure what you want. My favorite is their pino grigio. I personally think the pasta here is better than carmines. The portions and prices are great. Great dessert menu. Their dishes are so flavorful and not greasy/oily like most Italian restaurants I've been to. Their mussels are to die for! The sauce is amazing, you'll want to order a few extra plates of bread to dip it in. The staff knows to ask before taking this dish away even if the mussels are all done, the sauce is that good! A few of my favorite dishes there are the salmon penne, penne amatriciana (no longer on the menu, but you can still order it), their salmon penne (occasionally pops up on the specials menu, and the seafood cannelloni.
