Service was generally very bad. You had to explicitly ask for utensils, napkins, or sugar/sweetener for the coffee. Even when you asked, often nothing would happen. They forgot the dish of my wife, which added insult to injury. The cheese plate had barely any cheese. We asked for a warm baguette, and it was not warm, plus it was hard. They had only two out of main dishes available. Soup was salty. Salad had little dressing. Child seat was extremely low for the tall table. Quiche was too cold. Safe to say we are not coming again. The large windows and the ambience of the space are really what sell it for me. The brunch is also very delicious although seems like it's a little pricey for what it is. The desserts and the dessert case are also delicious and I would highly recommend grabbing a croissant or two. My only gripe with this location is finding parking. I was stoked to try it out but it was so full there was only space for me at the counter. My visit didnt start out great with the hostess being a bit snotty about me not having reservations. Of course its a Sunday and its busy but I'm visiting from out of town, how would I know? The manager came to help and set me up at the bar. She was lovely, professional and you could tell she had been doing it for a while, she had everything down to the T. My food came out promptly and was great. Their quiches are amazing. If I had a table I would have stayed longer but the stools werent super comfortable. Inside is beautifully decorated, modern and chic. There is a 2nd floor as well but I didnt see upstairs. We met for drinks and snacks on the gorgeous patio of Cepae as a glamorous going away party for our friend moving to NYC. This super swanky wine bar in downtown Bell puts the C in chic. With its urban design it sports clean modern lines, a long wood and black bar, and lush vegetation growing in planters for a splash of color. Their outdoor patio is refreshing and comfy with plush grey couches and table service. We were able to snag spots on the couches and enjoyed the beautiful day while sipping some wine. They have a great happy hour from 4:30-6 and 9-close that we fully intended to take advantage of. We each ordered some wine off the happy hour menu, though of course they have an extensive selection if you prefer something else. With this being a french patisserie I wasn't shocked that there were a lot of restrictions because of my gluten allergy, but I was pleased to see they do have some options! We ordered the charcuterie and fromage which was beautifully presented on a white marble board with a selection of cured meats, cheeses, and some gorgeous fresh figs. The black truffle chips were also fantastic. The others enjoyed the le crabe and I at least gave it compliments to its lovely presentation. On the dinner and lunch menus there are a few more gf options, but don't expect a ton if you are celiac. Our service the whole afternoon was excellent with our server and wine steward helping us make good choices to accompany our snacks we'd ordered. The addition of this French wine bar to downtown Bellevue is amazing! We planned on visiting the bakery (La Parisienne), but were enticed by the looks of the wine bar. We were greeted immediately and the ways of the wine bar were explained to us. I decided to leave it up to our host and he picked out four French wines for me to sample. My guy had a glass of white wine and then proceeded, later on in the visit, to order the 6 for $6 champagne tasting; I, later, joined in as well. An excellent place to celebrate a sunny Saturday kickoff to the holiday weekend. We started with the cheese-stuffed gougeres. They were fabulous and, with a salad, could make a meal on its own. The three-cheese plate was just right for two; the cheeses selected were flavorful without being too unusual for mainstream tastes. We shared an entree - a creamy pasta with shaved truffle and Jamon. The pasta was undercooked, chewy rather than toothsome. The chocolate mousse was the meal's crown!! We truly enjoyed the champagne and our glass of Passe Partout. A few negatives - the online menus have not been updated, and so we came expecting Happy Hour and a completely different set of food options. The garage parking is unclear. This is my favorite coffee shop in Bellevue. Not necessarily for the coffee (even though it is good)... but for the pastries. Every single ingredient in every pastry is flown in from France. The flour is from France, the sugar is from France.... the only thing that isn't from France is the berries (which are local). They taste unbelievable. Their breakfast is also amazing! I even like their lunches. I've been going here about once a week since I moved to downtown Belleuve. Aiden is a barista there who is the nicest guy ever and makes you feel at home in the coffee shop. Can't say enough good things about this place! Located in the same building as La Parisienne Bakery, Cepae is the sister bar to the bakery, as it's also owned and operated by the same owners of La Parisienne. Cepae is bright and spacious with high ceilings and large windows. There's bar seating, in addition to table seating and an outdoor patio with couches where your dog is allowed! Cepae also has a large TV for your viewing pleasure. In my latest visit to Cepae I tried a rose flight where the employee was able to deliver it to me out on the patio and tell me about each, different wine, ranging from specific areas in France. Great customer service and knowledgeable about their products! The variety of wines here is excellent, as there is a lot to choose from in all price points. Just make sure you ask the staff for recommendations, which they are happy to do. In addition to wine are some food items, including a happy hour menu that's offered from 430-6pm. And of course since they share space with La Parisienne, you can get food from there, too. They also have a wine club where members get discounted wines and specials. I'm thrilled this is walking distance to my place, as there's nothing better than enjoying a glass or two of French wines in a relaxing setting. In fact, it's encouraged to take your time here, as you will never feel rushed from the staff to check out until you're ready to. Just remember that like in France, Cepae is closed on Sundays. Just out on counter near where people pay so that was a slight turn off but Im weird with germs. Still i had to try it. To me - it is ok. I wish it had sugar. I love this place it is cozy and quaint. My first experience here was at a Yelp Elite event last year and I have been hooked ever since. To stop in for a glass of wine, coffee and croissant in the early afternoon is quite delightful. The wine selection is quite extensive and you can try them by the taste, glass or bottle. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The pricing is quite reasonable and Julien's knowledge of the wines on the shelf is amazing. If you are out in the afternoon and looking for a light snack and glass of wine to get you through, this is the place. If you are out for the evening and you want someplace to have some great wine this is your place. Just visited Cepae last night as part of Yelp's Winery Adventure tour. This event was for Yelp elites, a night of tasting and bites. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly, and you can tell they truly care about the business and educate while they serve with a smile regardless of your experience or wine knowledge. There is free 2-hour parking in the Soma Towers garage which is really convenient as well. It isn't your validation style, you simply park, go to the machine by elevator and print out a 2 hour retail receipt and place it on your dash. Need more than 2 hours? Go back and print another! Just don't get caught over-time, I hear its a $70 ticket. The space at Cepae is beautiful, well-decorated with a good mix of fancy flair while remaining casual and inviting. Surely somewhere you can bring a date, or stop in after work for some wine and bites. The wine selection seems incredible, and I can't wait to come back to try more. I really enjoyed the sparkling rose, perfectly refreshing and flavorful- would love to keep that flowing this summer. The other wine I tried was a fantastic cotes du rhone- dry and well flavored. The cheese, bread, and bites paired excellently with the social atmosphere and wine flow- and made for an overall exciting and enjoyable event. I came here with friends last night and there were some good and not-so-good moments. The Good: my wine was yummy, the wine list was impressive, and my salmon tartine was excellent! The Not-so-Good: We got a pretty pretentious vibe from our server (we know wine, but he made us feel like we didn't). When my friend asked for a little butter with her bread, he made a big deal about how they only have the most expensive butter in the world and even brought out the little butter packet to show her. And the check was not correct - he said he thought they comped one of my wine glasses - but then he brought back my check and he had added the glass back on. After you tell a customer that you've comped something, it's not too nice to add it back on. Overall, it was a pretty spot for a date, and the food/wine was good, but I probably won't return. read more

My wife and I's visit to Cepae was a terrific experience! We decided to sit at the bar during happy hour. My wife tried a flight of 3 different white wines and I decided to try a flight of 3 different red wines plus adding in their happy hour wine on their menu. You can pretty much try any wine they have available for a very affordable price, especially being in Downtown Bellevue! Most of the wines you're able to "taste" for between $2.00 and $3.00 from what I could remember. Their happy hour menu was quite tasty as well as we chose to get a little tasting place of cheeses, meats, and other hors d'oeuvres...bread with butter was yummy too! The service is top notch, their sommelier, who served us was very knowledgeable and made our experience even better. On a nice day, you're able to sit outside. They even serve coffee from Victrola Coffee Roasters, sell French pastries and other products, and you can purchase unique wines that you're unable to find in most of the big box retailers since they have a direct relationship with the manufacturers. The wine was great. Burger not so much. First, burger took a while, almost 30 mins. Second, meat had a little funk, like it was too old. Third, bun was toasted to the point of being rock hard. Lastly, burger was way smaller than the bun, which was supposedly made in house, but tasted like cardboard. I first discovered this place by attending a Yelp event and had been wanting to return for quite some time. Well made it twice in November and neither time disappointed! Denise helped us both times and she was absolutely wonderful! It was fun to taste all of the wines the two weekends that we went. I love that the tasting fee is refunded if you purchase a bottle AND all of the bottle prices are incredibly reasonable. It was so fun to talk to Denise about the origin of each of the wines and the uniqueness of some of the wineries. While we cannot eat any of the pastries since we are gluten free, I am tempted to cheat every time I visit! 120 wines by the glass -- outdoor seating -- amazing. But then the service was very slow -- they were always friendly but I had to go looking for them more than once. The wines, 5oz or 1/2oz, covered a wide area but were mainly French. I was really surprised they only had five Washington wines! Of the 8 wines I tried, they were all very pedestrian with lots of sweetness and zero acidity. Quiet possible I picked wrong -- but even after describing my desired wines the recos were uninspired. The staff was friendly and nice, albeit a tad slow but it was fine overall. We ended up ordering the risotto and halibut, accompanied by the ratatouille and roasted potatoes. Everything was delicious. The reason for docking one star is because the chairs are awful - small, uncomfortable and hard. We ended up moving seats to a lower table which ended up to be ok but the chairs definitely make you want to leave sooner than you'd like! We had never seen it before and were extremely eager to check it out. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly staff behind the bakery counter & then by our bartender, Adam who was very eager to help us pick out some great wines to try. Cepae has a wonderful selection of carefully and expertly curated wines and champagnes from France -- a lovely tour away from the WA varietals. Their coffees and espressos are actually quite good as well -- and a perfect accompaniment to a classic croissant or freshly made on-site pastry. The cheese portions are generous and delicious. The mains are beautifully presented and well executed in the classical French style. Tip: get the gougeres -- they are fabulous as a starter to excite your palette or as as a snack to go with your wine. The desserts are the crowning glory, however. The overall experience was pretty uncomfortable. The waitress had a serious bone to pick with everyone. She couldn't get through her initial schpeal because she was so annoyed with a crying child. Then she was condescending about people not knowing the difference between sparkling rose vs champagne rose. She later offended a couple so much that they left before even ordering. The sirloin was good, but not worth $52. The duck was over cooked for both people and doesn't come with any sides - like 1/2 a baby carrot and 1/2 of a single cherry. When we expressed that the duck was unseasoned and asked for additional sauce, the waitress was put out and told us that we are supposed to be tasting just straight duck... no seasoning. She then brought out a plate of desserts without any explanation and just expected us to select something. It was really an unfortunate and uncomfortable experience. You can purchase a bottle ... so let's say their Rosè on their HH menu is $5 you can purchase a bottle for $13... one downside if you plan on drinking that bottle there it's an additional $30. So might as well take it home and drink. Great place to host events, they can pre-fix your menu for your group and offer great wine pairing. They also offer breakfast over the weekend and have a great selection. Their menu and offerings is perfect for the Bellevue residence, like myself that live walking distance. I recommend this place. Organized a surprise birthday for my BF a week ago with 25 people, and WOW, the team was incredible! Julien helped me organize ahead of time both the food and the wine, provided some fabulous choices and catered to my various constraints (no cheese, specific budget, timing, type of setup i wanted (standing, not seated)). When I got there, everything was perfect, all ready to go! Even got to visit the kitchens and meet the teams "backstage". During the evening a guest wanted to try another type of wine, and Julien provided great recommendations keeping my own budget constraints in mind, which I really appreciated! Also the croque-madame were to die for, so guests asked for more, and the team delivered.
