Been here twice now and I really like it. Serving sizes are great, enough for roughly 2 meals for me. The bang bang chicken is so delicious and even reheats well in the microwave. Cucumber salad and edamame were delicious. The first time I went I got the spicy chicken on top of cabbage but I did not love that as the cabbage got too soggy under all the sauce (and it was too spicy for me lol). I would definitely come again. They also do rewards: for every $50 you spend you get $3.50. Theres nowhere to sit and eat though so be aware this is takeout only. This was one of my favorite eats while my husband and I had our holiday in Seattle. We were driving from our friends house and my husband was really craving teriyaki and we found Grillbird online, it was close and their menu was exactly what we wanted. I ordered the chicken teriyaki with white rice and asked for a side of the spicy sauce, my husband ordered the build your own plate choosing five spice beef and chicken katsu with plenty of teriyaki sauce and spicy sauce. We had a hard time ordering on the kiosk, so the cashier took our order he was really nice and super informative. You can't eat in the restaurant so it's perfect to just order online and go but they do have seating to wait for your food. When we got back to our hotel we had a little bed picnic, can I tell you this is the best teriyaki chicken I have ever eaten. The sauce is perfect not too sweet and had hints of cherry, not sure if that's even right. I also wanted to try the spicy sauce and holy, that is spicy my mouth was on fire but in the most delicious way. Very disappointed in Grillbird. I've had their teriyaki chicken and enjoyed it and I was looking forward to trying the Ebi Katsu sandwich, but the universe had other plans... I was able to order through Uber Eats during lunch time today (08/14/2025). When I and a bunch of other customers who also ordered through Uber Eats showed up, there was a sign on the door explaining that they were closed for repairs until 4pm!!! Ok, I understand having to do repairs or any preventative maintenance to keep your business running. BUT you should have disabled Uber Eats (and other online ordering services) during that time period. I tried calling the business line, no answer with a recorded message saying they were (not) busy. I messaged via IG to refund my money, no response. I was able to contact Uber Eats and took screenshots of my order and send in the photo from the business that they were closed. And it was easily reconciled. The repair guys even said they called the owner to let them know they should disable the order feature. Grillbird do better for your customers!!! I don't live in the area, so this was a special trip!!! -_- read more

They removed the 2 best items on the entire menu so I won't be going back - The delicious miso golden beets and fried chicken sandwich. Teriyaki portions are good, though costly. Chicken tastes fresh but the white rice is always gloopy and soggy, usually sticking to the paper takeout trays and adding bits of paper to each bite. read more

Couple of notes before you go to Grillbird: - They are entirely take-out. This means there is no seating. - Parking is tight and small. I'd recommend ordering online so you can grab and go. That being said, Grillbird was awesome. I love how meaningful the menu feels - it's small but they excel in what they do. I got the Ebi Katsu sandwich and a side of waffle fries. The Ebi Katsu is HUGE - they do not skimp on portions. The breading on the shrimp is light and fluffy. The bun is nicely toasted. The waffle fries are heavenly! My partner got a different combo and the mac salad also stood out to me. I would definitely come back to try more items off the menu. We had a teriyaki craving this past Sunday and have recently been disappointed with our usual spots, so went to our friends at Yelp to find a new solid lead for great teriyaki After some research, we found ourselves headed to Grillbird, a place I'd heard a lot about. We realized that even though 30 minutes away, there is no dine in option, so hoped the food would travel well. We placed our order on their very nice online system. We arrived right on time and the food was just being finished. The place was just a lobby, but all very clean and very friendly employees. As soon as we received our bag of food, we headed back home to give it a try. Yelpers were spot on with their great reviews of this place. The Teriyaki chicken was some of the best I've had in the past few years. It had the char flavor, yet very tender and not over cooked. Just the right amount of sauce added, with an extra to-go cup just in case. My friend had the beef, which was also perfectly cooked and very tasty. Sides on our meals were the macaroni salad, the greens. and spring rolls. The spring rolls were cooked just right with a tangy sauce accompanying them. The greens were bok choy, also perfectly cooked and was amazed by the large portion size I was given. Deceptive pricing and OK food. I would recommend ordering on the kiosk and not with the cashier, because the kiosk has clearer pricing while the cashier does not. I came here recently and got a teriyaki chicken plate. The price on the menu is $18, and it says you can sub out rice for cabbage or noodles, and comes with two sides. I subbed noodles and got mac salad and beet salad. The menu and cashier did not give any indication that anything I ordered would be upcharged, and even the screen while ordering does not tell you what is causing the higher price. My price inexplicably ended up at 22.50 instead of 18 (pre-tax)! Some friends of mine were using the kiosk to order so I looked over their shoulder - it turns out that subbing noodles is +$3 and the beet salad is +1.50. Neither of these prices are crazy, but not listing any of these numbers on the menus is very deceptive - it says that premium sides have additional charge, but does not specify which sides are premium, how much the additional charge is, or that the noodle substitution (not a side!) is an extra cost. Fortunately, I caught the discrepancy and the cashier was willing to change my order, but it was definitely a sour experience. There's nowhere to sit and eat in the restaurant, but there's a park pretty close by that has a table that I brought my food to. As for the food, it was fine - portion sizes were good, but all three items (chicken, mac salad, and beet salad) were a bit bland in my opinion, and the chicken had a few dry pieces. The mac salad was good, and the beet salad was just okay - I don't think the vinaigrette had much of a taste especially when eaten on the same plate as the teriyaki. This place used to be a favorite and somewhere I ordered from almost weekly. Over the past year or two, though, they've made a few menu changes that have slowly stripped away the things I loved most. First, they got rid of the original steak teriyaki. Yes, it was a little pricey, but it was incredible and totally worth it as an occasional treat. Then they replaced it with a steak and broccoli dish. Not quite the same, but still good enough to keep me coming back. Then, right as I got used to the broccoli beef substitute, it disappeared too! They replaced it with the 5-spice beef. It's alright, but definitely not a favorite and nowhere near the original. And now... the POG lemonade is gone too. Why?? That was one of the last things that could make the "eh" other items seem okay. Like, sure, the five-spice beef isn't the original... but at least I had the sweet, tart loveliness of the POG lemonade to balance it out. And the person working there was always kind enough to add a little extra to my lemonade (she was so sweet, thank you again!). At this point I feel like I'm watching all my favorite things slowly disappear from the menu. I still check the menu every once in a while in case they decide to add back the things I miss. So far, no dice. Remember the saying, "If it's not broken, don't fix it"? None of these things were broken. In fact, they were the glue holding together my stressed-out, need-to-figure-out-dinner-after-work burnout evenings. This is a to-go only establishment around the neighborhood. I got the pork and katsu curry bowl, and you get to choose the carbs (brown rice for us!), and two sides included. The fried spring roll was surprisingly flavorful!!! Mac & Cheese was pretty decent. The "katsu sauce" was just in two small containers on the side which i thought was a little subpar. They have a screen you can order from or someone there will take you order. They have different food options here. I ordered a Chicken Teriyaki/Katsu mix & Strawberry Lemonade. Tried Grillbird on Phinney and it was delicious! Having grown up on the original Toshi's Teriyaki I know good teriyaki. We did a mobile order (yeah for rewards!) and it was right on time. Had teriyaki chicken, white rice, spring rolls and cucumbers and all were great. My BF and I could have split one which means the portions are ample. I don't make it out to Grillbird as much as I like to, as it's a bit of a trek for me. But when I first tried it I was convinced this was the best teriyaki in Seattle. The chicken was cooked perfectly, with a slight char while staying very juicy. The mac salad was also fantastic, as good as your favorite Hawaiian spot. Fast forward to today, and my chicken today was shockingly dry. The marinade and sauce are still like I remember, but otherwise it was a chore to eat. On top of that, the mac salad was too vinegar-y. The macaroni itself had very little texture, and seemed like it was boiled too long. I know the team at Grillbird is passionate about what they do, so I hope they will recalibrate and get back to greatness. There is obviously a lot of teriyaki in this city, but in my opinion very few did it as well as Grillbird at its peak. read more

Teriyaki chicken: great char, good sauce, most pieces are tender and juicy. We went back when Grillbird first opened and thought it was okay but slow - boy am I glad someone recommended we go back again as they have not only refined their menu and flavors, they have turned into a well oiled on their ordering and pick up system. I ordered food for five people and got a text saying it was ready about five minutes ahead of when I was expecting it. Great. It's takeout only and they thankfully have parking to be able to run in and out. Inside they have an order board so you know right away your order is ready - it's also clean and well organized inside so it was no trouble to pick up. Food is packaged well and most importantly delicious. I had half and half plate of garlic chicken and tofu and cauliflower. While it is a fried decadent meal it's also light and doesn't land in your stomach. The beet salad was a refreshing but hearty counterpart. One meal is a ton of food - expect leftovers. Absolutely delicious! Grillbird is a gem. Ordering is super easy with their tablet system, and even though it's self-serve, a staff member greeted me and offered assistance. She was incredibly kind, making the customer service a 10/10. The wait was quick, and the portion sizes were huge. The POG lemonade is out of this world--so refreshing, with the perfect balance of tart and fruity. I'd go back just for that. The mac salad and spicy garlic chicken were also fantastic. While the sauce for the chicken katsu wasn't my favorite, it was still good overall.
