This was one of my favorite eats while my husband and I had our holiday in Seattle. We were driving from our friends house and my husband was really craving teriyaki and we found Grillbird online, it was close and their menu was exactly what we wanted. I ordered the chicken teriyaki with white rice and asked for a side of the spicy sauce, my husband ordered the build your own plate choosing five spice beef and chicken katsu with plenty of teriyaki sauce and spicy sauce. We had a hard time ordering on the kiosk, so the cashier took our order he was really nice and super informative. You can't eat in the restaurant so it's perfect to just order online and go but they do have seating to wait for your food. When we got back to our hotel we had a little bed picnic, can I tell you this is the best teriyaki chicken I have ever eaten. The sauce is perfect not too sweet and had hints of cherry, not sure if that's even right. I also wanted to try the spicy sauce and holy, that is spicy my mouth was on fire but in the most delicious way. I wish that we had a Grillbird in San Diego, I wonder if you can order their sauces to be mailed?

We ordered the family meal to take out. The food was good but afterwards my mouth was so dry it must of had a lot of msg. The tofu and califlower delicious I liked it better than I thought I would. The teriyaki chicken was okay alittle too sweet for me. I like the dark meat. The other was a spicy chicken. See my photos of what we go it is three proteins and two sides we fit the Mac salad and cucumbers

Very disappointed in Grillbird. I've had their teriyaki chicken and enjoyed it and I was looking forward to trying the Ebi Katsu sandwich, but the universe had other plans... I was able to order through Uber Eats during lunch time today (08/14/2025). When I and a bunch of other customers who also ordered through Uber Eats showed up, there was a sign on the door explaining that they were closed for repairs until 4pm!!! Ok, I understand having to do repairs or any preventative maintenance to keep your business running. BUT you should have disabled Uber Eats (and other online ordering services) during that time period. I tried calling the business line, no answer with a recorded message saying they were (not) busy. I messaged via IG to refund my money, no response. I was able to contact Uber Eats and took screenshots of my order and send in the photo from the business that they were closed. And it was easily reconciled. The repair guys even said they called the owner to let them know they should disable the order feature. Grillbird do better for your customers!!! I don't live in the area, so this was a special trip!!! -_-

Chicken Teriyaki, Sesame chicken, bok choy, and macaroni salad.

We had a teriyaki craving this past Sunday and have recently been disappointed with our usual spots, so went to our friends at Yelp to find a new solid lead for great teriyaki After some research, we found ourselves headed to Grillbird, a place I'd heard a lot about. We realized that even though 30 minutes away, there is no dine in option, so hoped the food would travel well. We placed our order on their very nice online system. We arrived right on time and the food was just being finished. The place was just a lobby, but all very clean and very friendly employees. As soon as we received our bag of food, we headed back home to give it a try. Yelpers were spot on with their great reviews of this place. The Teriyaki chicken was some of the best I've had in the past few years. It had the char flavor, yet very tender and not over cooked. Just the right amount of sauce added, with an extra to-go cup just in case. My friend had the beef, which was also perfectly cooked and very tasty. Sides on our meals were the macaroni salad, the greens. and spring rolls. The spring rolls were cooked just right with a tangy sauce accompanying them. The greens were bok choy, also perfectly cooked and was amazed by the large portion size I was given. Grillbird will defnintely be a placed I'll revisit, as I don't have a problem driving for great food and this place dishes our some delicious grub!

Couple of notes before you go to Grillbird: - They are entirely take-out. This means there is no seating. - Parking is tight and small. I'd recommend ordering online so you can grab and go. That being said, Grillbird was awesome. I love how meaningful the menu feels - it's small but they excel in what they do. I got the Ebi Katsu sandwich and a side of waffle fries. The Ebi Katsu is HUGE - they do not skimp on portions. The breading on the shrimp is light and fluffy. The bun is nicely toasted. The waffle fries are heavenly! My partner got a different combo and the mac salad also stood out to me. I would definitely come back to try more items off the menu. Even though it's out in West Seattle, it's super worth the visit.

Spicy chicken, cucumber salad, and Mac salad

Fresh good quality food. Small on the inside not meant to sit in only grab and go. Very delicious and I'd eat there again. Actually found out about it on TikTok. The service was great they take your order and you wait. I got the spicy chicken (It was indeed spicy) with rice, mac, and cucumber salad. I enjoyed it all. Don't mind the poor lighting in the photo I was in a hurry to eat believe me it's delicious!

Bang bang chicken and chicken teriyaki (we got both and did a swapsies)

Top contender for best teriyaki in the city for me (i miigght still like I teriyaki more still). Flavors are on point and it feels like care was put into the tastes and quality. Like it's a meal that's got that touch to it. I also got the bang bang chicken and i mean it's just good. Like really good. I wish they had seating though but we took it to a nearby park to eat.

Deceptive pricing and OK food. I would recommend ordering on the kiosk and not with the cashier, because the kiosk has clearer pricing while the cashier does not. I came here recently and got a teriyaki chicken plate. The price on the menu is $18, and it says you can sub out rice for cabbage or noodles, and comes with two sides. I subbed noodles and got mac salad and beet salad. The menu and cashier did not give any indication that anything I ordered would be upcharged, and even the screen while ordering does not tell you what is causing the higher price. My price inexplicably ended up at 22.50 instead of 18 (pre-tax)! Some friends of mine were using the kiosk to order so I looked over their shoulder - it turns out that subbing noodles is +$3 and the beet salad is +1.50. Neither of these prices are crazy, but not listing any of these numbers on the menus is very deceptive - it says that premium sides have additional charge, but does not specify which sides are premium, how much the additional charge is, or that the noodle substitution (not a side!) is an extra cost. Fortunately, I caught the discrepancy and the cashier was willing to change my order, but it was definitely a sour experience. There's nowhere to sit and eat in the restaurant, but there's a park pretty close by that has a table that I brought my food to. As for the food, it was fine - portion sizes were good, but all three items (chicken, mac salad, and beet salad) were a bit bland in my opinion, and the chicken had a few dry pieces. The mac salad was good, and the beet salad was just okay - I don't think the vinaigrette had much of a taste especially when eaten on the same plate as the teriyaki. Overall it was just average teriyaki which is a bit disappointing given the high reviews and price.

Pork and Katsu

This is a to-go only establishment around the neighborhood. I got the pork and katsu curry bowl, and you get to choose the carbs (brown rice for us!), and two sides included. The fried spring roll was surprisingly flavorful!!! Mac & Cheese was pretty decent. The "katsu sauce" was just in two small containers on the side which i thought was a little subpar. It tasted like just those premade sauce. The fried pork was pretty good, lightly breaded and crunchy and savory. This one item after tax is about $21+

Drove by and saw this place and came back for some food. Walking in it's quiet....no seating inside at all. You just order and leave. They have a screen you can order from or someone there will take you order. They have different food options here. I ordered a Chicken Teriyaki/Katsu mix & Strawberry Lemonade. Chicken Teriyaki was a little dry but ok....Chicken Katsu was good and they make their own Katsu sauce. Strawberry Lemonade was ok. If you're in the area check it out.

Food freshly made. Hot and tasty. Lots of fun sides for choices to go with the chicken teriyaki I ordered. Service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant has been recently remodeled and it is bright and clean.

How is this business operating during COVID-19? Are they offering takeout, delivery, or both? Anything else to note about them right now?

They offer take out and delivery.

Is there a list of gluten free items you could put on here or is on your website?

Are items listed as Gluten Free prepared in a GF fryer (eg the fried cauliflower) or are they prepared on shared equipment?

Update! We use separate fryers for gluten and gluten free items. We keep all gluten items physically separated from all others when preparing our dishes and switch out gloves upon request!

Are there vegan options?

Yes! Our tofu teriyaki and sesame tofu & cauliflower are both vegan main dishes if you opt out of the Mac salad side and ask for the vegan salad dressing option for the cabbage salad. We also offer Chinese greens, fried cauliflower and noodles as… Read more

Is the chicken teriyaki light or dark meat? Fingers crossed for chicken breast!

We only use Halal certified chicken thighs at grillbird.

Is the macaroni salad gluten-free? We specified gluten free when ordering but doing an online search it states items line Mac salad and Katsura contain wheat?! Did they change this? Why would they give a gluten with a gluten free meal?

It isn't yet. I was there today and they mentioned they're looking into it. They just recently included Mac salad as an included side and are researching gluten free options so that GF folx can partake too. For now if you're GF you have to ask to… Read more

Tonight, my partner's Chirashi bowl arrived promptly, but I waited nearly 30 minutes for three basic rolls, despite the restaurant being nearly empty (only two other tables). The most concerning part, however, was the food quality. I ordered three rolls--none of which were meant to be spicy. As a native New Mexican, I have a high spice tolerance, but two of these rolls were "stupid spicy" to the point of being inedible. Having had these exact rolls here before, it was clear the spice level was intentionally altered after I inquired about the long delay. The waitress was pleasant and offered to comp a roll, but the issue isn't the money--it's the lack of professionalism from the chef. Tampering with a customer's food because they asked for an ETA is unacceptable. We will not be returning.

The exception was our vegan friend, who had a vegan version of midori, their vegetable omakase. The menu said the omakase would take about two hours, but it ended up taking three hours since there was a lot of waiting between items. The quality of the fish varied--the shrimp was good, but the uni and salmon did not seem as fresh. The cooked dishes were good though, and I appreciated the interesting combinations like pickles + geoduck and ice cream + furikake popcorn. The cooked salmon was nice and soft, just barely cooked through. It was great that this omakase place is vegan-friendly, but unfortunately, my friend was not a fan of most of her food. But we all liked the soup that came before dessert! I actually really enjoyed the black cod miso soup they served; it was very rich in umami. I appreciate that this restaurant uses sustainably-sourced seafood, which contributes to the higher price, but I unfortunately still didn't find the meal to be worth the high price tag, especially given the slow service. The server was nice and filled our water pretty frequently, but the estimate of how long dinner would take was too inaccurate. We were also confused about how we got six pieces of each type of oshizushi (the cube-like sushi) to split among four people

Started off strong with the uni shot, which was really good, and the sashimi fresh, clean, and exactly what you want from a sushi spot. We also ordered the mushroom and pumpkin salad with spinach, which tasted great, but at $20, it felt a bit overpriced for what it was. The rolls, unfortunately, didn't live up to how they looked. Presentation was definitely there, but the flavor just didn't hit. On top of that, they were falling apart pretty easily when picked up with chopsticks, which made them a little frustrating to eat. Service was solid overall staff was attentive despite how busy it was but they did miss our hamachi kama, which was a bit of a letdown. A couple things to note: this place is cash only, and it gets very busy, so expect a bit of a wait. That said, the vibe is nice, and the design of the space is something I actually liked. Would I come back? Probably for sashimi and appetizers but I might skip the rolls next time.

Georgetown has some nice hidden gems and I would consider this one of them... just good,…read moreno-nonsense Japanese rice bowls of comfort. If you're a fan of Red Bowl in Financial District, this place has a similar vibe with its approach to rice bowls. Having been here twice on different weeks, I think this will become one of my go-to places in the area when I'm craving fresh seafood on a weekend south of downtown. LOGISTICS Parking is convenient for Georgetown area, given they have a dedicated lot for customers of businesses in the area. Entering in, you order through the kiosk and if you're dining in, you can seat yourself and they'll bring the order to you. The space is small for larger groups but if you're 4 people or less, generally there are tables available on off peak hours (at least what we observed Sat/Sun). Ordering happens at the kiosk, which you can choose for takeout or to dine in. Keep in mind there are some items available for dine-in only (ex. udon or seared salmon bowls), but if you plan on doing takeout anyways you can order online or call ahead for pickup. Note - they do close at 2:30 pm but re-open at 4:30 pm. So long as you get your order in by 2:30 pm they'll still service you... which was nice since the last two times we came in around 2:00 PM. FOOD First off, they have nice nice presentation both in how the food is arranged and the bowls they use when dining in. From the ceramic/decorative bowls to the trays they use... it's the little things that add to the dining experience and make you think a business cares about its food. (Note: there was one time we had initially ordered togo but decided to eat in person; so they kept the food in plastic bowls for one of my photos.) In every bowl we had during our two visits, the rice was excellent! We've had some terrible rice at other donburi places before where it can be too overcooked or too mushy. Fortunately their seasoned rice was a good texture and tasty to eat on its own. The seafood was also excellent for the price / quality - fresh tasting with a melt-in-your mouth texture. Volcano Bowl: Spicy salmon + spicy crab salad w/ masago - despite the description it wasn't too spicy (siracha mayo) but it went really well with the rice, like a deconstructed sushi roll. I liked mixing in some wasabi to give it a stronger kick. Aburi Sake Bowl (seared salmon bowl): This is only available to order for dine-in; if you love salmon... I would recommend this one. Seared salmon is delicious seafood umami. I liked how the salmon had the right amount of fattiness too. Chirashi Bowl: If you like variety, then this is an excellent bowl to try a little bit of everything. I was amused that they also included unagi (I don't think I see that in most chirashi bowls). Even the shrimp, which is usually my least favorite part of chirashi bowls, tasted good with a slight sweetness. OVERALL Awesome place and a good location for the area given there's parking available. Price was just right for the quality (I'm amused how much cheaper good seafood is here in Seattle compared to the Bay Area) and the staff were really friendly. There are also two excellent bouldering gyms nearby (Castle Climbing Club and Momentum)... so if you're looking to recharge after a climbing session, I would highly recommend coming here!

I wouldn't say it's very salty but it is saucy and you need to mix it with the rice properly to balance it out. The portion is generous and it is very filling. Not bad but I'd go for the chirashi every time.
