Nana's Green Tea has always been my go to for quick yet satisfying lunch place. You order from the counter once walking in, then seat yourself with a number, and the food will be brought out to you. Chicken Nanban rice place comes with miso soup, salad, and potato salad. The chicken crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, which pairs perfectly with rice. I didn't get matcha drinks this time, but they were also good when I had it before. Now the not so good part. There is a fair amount of indoor seating and outdoor seating if needed. The matcha ice cream has a strong matcha taste as opposed to sweet. The red bean paste tasted overly sweet on the flip side. I think they were meant to compliment each other but the red bean paste was very overpowering. The flakes added really nice texture and reminded me of my childhood. I've been eyeing Nana's Green Tea ever since moving here two years ago and wow, it absolutely lived up to the hype. This place is a matcha lover's dream. I had the black sesame frappe with mochi, which was rich, nutty, and perfectly balanced: not too sweet (I'm not a sweetened matcha person), just right. My partner got the seasonal purple sweet potato latte and it was stunning both visually and flavor-wise. The drinks are so unique, we both enjoyed the elements we had to enjoy with a spoon. We also grabbed the sweet potato Mont Blanc to share later, and honestly, I'm still thinking about it. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, high-quality and thoughtful. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side, but the quality makes it feel mostly worth it. This was easily some of the best matcha I've ever had: super smooth, earthy, rich and vibrant. The space itself is also lovely: bright, open, and super inviting. There were a LOT of different options with matcha, hojicha, red bean, black sesame, etc. Tried the matcha with red bean and mochi, and the black sesame with black sesame ice cream and both were yummy! The matcha cake with red bean cream filling was pretty good, too - because of the filling. The cake was a little on the drier side, but was fine with the filling. We came for dessert, but there's also a small selection of katsu. They take your order and bring the items to your table, so that's nice. The decor is bright and a cool place to hang out while enjoying dessert. Other people ordered the parfaits, (which look amazing!) and it was a popular place. My best friend wanted to try Nana's Green Tea. I remember coming here a lot when I lived in Hawaiʻi so was excited to come back! We came on a weekend night and it was popping! The drink was okay, with no strong matcha taste. Honestly pretty milky. We got ours less sweetened as well, which made it not overly sweet. Yall i love nanas and always will for their good matcha soft serve and the cute japandi interior (their savory food is still very questionable as i am still hesitant to give them another try after getting a gyuudon (beef rice don) with one piece of beef in it, see my old review) but i gotta update this review to share my experience trying their spring 2025 limited edition sakura menu. As always we were greeted by friendly staff at Nana's and despite it being a very busy day due to Sakura con, we were able to get what we wanted and find a seating. Awesome! We didn't get the sakura cheesecake since we were already sharing quite a few items just among two people so we decided to leave that one out. The sakura parfait: 2/5, the sakura jelly at the bottom takes up a lot of real estate of the overall parfait composition and its not very flavorful. We definitely prefer the matcha or hojicha version and the only reason this gains 2 stars is purely because of the cute dango, pretty colors and the pink colored red bean paste. Sakura latte: 0.5/5 would not get this again. The whip cream does not mix well at all into the latte and the latte is way too pulpy to be called a latte, there is a layer of red bean paste at the bottom that kind of mush up all together, making it very unpleasant to consume as a beverage drink. The sakura jelly doesnt help with the texture or ease of drinking and isnt very flavorful. .5 score just for the visuals and again.. the DANGO. sakura roll cake: 4/5, as someone who loves cake, and i mean love all cake even shitty cakes, this was unfortunately a good cake turned shitty due to sitting in the shelf for too long, the exterior cake had all been dehydrated and gotten so stale and crusty.. i do not want to know how long it had been sitting there. The staleness takes away 1 star but the overall flavor was the best for this item out of all three, accompanied by the sakura cream and thin mochi layers... and A MINI DANGO on top. So cute.
