$16 for this small piece of avocado toast was wild.. not to mention how many red pepper flakes were on it, it was inedible. The egg looked gray on the inside. Service was fine, but nothing to write home about. I've had some good items here before, but it's expensive and overall not worth it.
There were many people in this location on weekday. But luckily I was able to find a spot. The place seems pretty clean, but when they got me the latte, there's dirty crusted up vegetables stain on my glass. They remade me another one but one of the barista looked like giving me a look like I annoyed her which I didn't mean to but i definitely can't drink it when it's dirty. Other than that the food and drinks were so yummy! I would recommend this place!!!
We visited Cafe Hagen in Queen Anne on a Sunday morning. It was fairly quiet before 11 a.m., but it filled up quickly right after. They offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (note that pets are not allowed indoors). They have a great selection of hot brunch items, plus pastries and cakes. The whole place is modern and bright. The coffee tasting menu is unique, offering latte and espresso flights, and pour-overs. We tried the latte flight, which comes with four adventurous, creative flavors--including a miso latte! Overall, they were a bit on the sweet side for my taste, but very fun to try. The pour-over, however, was phenomenal: deep, rich, and full of berry notes. For food, we had: * Almond Croissant: Perfectly crispy on the outside. I loved that the filling was distributed all the way to the edges, so you get some in every single bite. * Chicken Avocado Salad: A wonderfully light meal featuring grilled chicken breast and a light dressing.
The decoration inside this place is so cute! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, with a mixture of different types of chairs. Was in town for a wedding and a friend who lives in the area recommended stopping by here for a quick bite and caffeine. I ordered the orange latte, and the subtle hints of orange and the floral scents in it were amazing. I also ordered the chicken avocado panini and it was delicious. The flavors complement each other very well and the bread is toasted to perfection. Service was very quick!
Popular café with lots of coffee and bakery options. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating, with staff who bring food to you when you're in the café. We often get the avocado toast and love the colors that come with it.
This was our first stop of many for our girls trip last month and o must say, one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had!!! I love how all the pastries and savories are huge portions, shareable and give everyone an opportunity to taste test other dishes. The service was super quick, nothing out of the ordinary. Love how the place is set up, wish there were more high top tables, felt like we had an audience seated at one. The location is conveniently located in the corner and parking is easy!
I love that cafe Hagen is expanding. The place is nice and staff are nice as well. I mostly come here for the pastries because they look so good . I got a regular croissant, a chocolate croissant, a pear Danish, and a cruffin. I have a weakness for layers and these have layers!! I love peeling through the layers to eat them. They were all good in flavors. It definitely wasn't as good near the end of the day as it chewy but toasting them help. Flavors were on point as well. My favorite is probably the cruffin because it was massive, it had cream, and I love how many layers it has . Overall, a pretty good place for pastries :)
My favorite solo breakfast spot the staff are lovely, and the music (contemporary French house) was just the vibe / ambience for this grey day. BTW: the churro cruffin is bomb!!!
This was our first stop before we went to our AirBnB. My friend had this on our list of food places to eat and I have to say, it was a good choice. I'm all for eating healthy, too. Ended up getting the avocado toast with soft boiled egg and I want to say I got a specialty latte that was topped with dried strawberries. The avocado had way more greens than I expected but I still ate it. Everything was delicious. They have great customer service and keep their place tidy. Everyone was so nice especially with us not knowing what to order on our visit. Thank you Cafe Hagen-Queen Anne staff.
This was my first time at this location. I usually go to the one on Thomas Street. It was of course busy, but the servers didn't seem to care you were there. I was extremely disappointed in my avocado and beet toast. It was much smaller than when I previously had it, and I'm glad that I had to take off some of the massive amount of onions to see the minimal amount of avocado and a huge part of the avocado that was inedible. It also lacked seasoning.
Yum! We had a vanilla oat milk latte which was good. The breakfast looks great too, and I really want to try the blueberry cream cheese Danish. They had vegetarian options and plant milk available, but the plant milk does cost extra. I'd say prices were very high here. But the service was very nice and helpful and we found seats right away. The noise level was good, and they are open for a good amount of the day. Parking might be tricky at times, but we found some not too far away. Definitely worth checking out!
This Café Hagen location is easily my favorite so far! I stopped by on a Monday morning, expecting a quiet atmosphere, but it was surprisingly lively. The ambiance is cozy, with a minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic that feels modern and inviting. The warm wooden accents, soft lighting, and the hum of calm house music create a perfect backdrop for a relaxed coffee break or a productive work session. The barista was so attentive and kind! I ordered the White Caramel Mint Latte with oat milk (half sweet) since I find their specialty drinks can lean on the sweeter side. The flavor was balanced: the mint was refreshing, and the caramel added a touch of warmth. The oat milk gave it a creamy texture that complemented the espresso well. For food, I went with the Prosciutto & Brie Toast, which came on a hearty multigrain bread spread with fig jam. The sweet-salty contrast of the jam, brie, and prosciutto was really satiating, and the arugula salad on top added a fresh and peppery bite. The only minor issue was that plate was too small, which made the arugula keep falling off the plate when slicing the toast. Total for both items was $24 -- a bit pricey, but the toast and latte were filling and tasty, so I personally am willing to pay for the quality of food and for the nice atmosphere. Overall, the ambiance and food are top-notch for a solo work session or a hangout with friends!
The coffee here is so good. I got a hot Vanilla Latte and it was super smooth and tasty. I also got the Urban Pesto Panini and it was so good. I ate it very quickly and enjoyed every bite. This is a very nice location as well there's great seating and there were people playing cards and doing work and such. It's nice and relaxing and I will definitely be back for that latte! read more

I paid $14 for this tiny breakfast sandwich. Adding bacon was an extra $2 and this tiny, half strip of bacon is all they gave me. It doesn't even cover half of this miniature sandwich. Also the bottom bun was still cold. Don't come to this place. They have no interest in serving quality food. They only want to rip you off and give you the bare minimum. They also told me I couldn't have my laptop out at certain tables. Meanwhile someone 5 ft away has their laptop out, and it's not a problem. read more
I visited Cafe Hagen in Queen Anne on a Wednesday morning to get my coffee fix. It was a fairly quiet lunch rush after 11 am, and there were a couple of people working from their laptops. As soon as I walked in, I noticed the selection of pastries, hot brunch items, and coffee drinks. The coffee tasting menu looked enticing. If I had more time to leisurely work or talk with company here, I would have opted to go this more adventurous route. However, I did end up trying one of their seasonal menu items - the Sakura Blossom Cloud Latte. I customized this drink with oat milk, even though the foam has to stay as dairy. The oat milk added a nutty creaminess that I particularly enjoyed. There were notes of the sweet Sakura syrup with a slight saltiness from the cream foam that gives the drink its perfect balance. It was a refreshing drink for a pick-me-up and they only had it for a limited time! My only thing is that I felt some coffee beans at the bottom that may not have been grinded as finely but other than that, the drink was amazing and I would recommend as a good backdrop for a spring walk! read more

Lovely brunch spot in Queen Anne! I came here with a craving for waffles, but ended up getting the weekend brunch board because I could not decide if I wanted sweet or savory. $23 for food of all varieties (and you'll definitely have leftovers to take home with you). Everything was fabulous, and the location is great as it's right on Queen Anne Ave. I definitely recommend walking or bussing if possible, as it can be difficult to find street parking. read more

Completely Disappointed.GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER! I've been to the SLU location and the one time I come to Queen Anne there was NO HOSPITALITY. 2 Ladies (one with short hair and other with Circle Tattoo on right arm) Purchased 3 eggs. 1 came with cheese which was not disclosed when purchased. Then waited 35 minutes for the "cook" to make 2 eggs and each time FOOD WAS COLD. "oh sorry our cook was from another location". Let's not forget they were not busy at all. 2 other people were complaining as well because the service and attitude was DISGUSTING. NEVER have I received this from other coffee stores I go to frequently. Because they know me by face and are very kind to their guests. Some one could have gotten an ALLERGIC REACTION WHICH WOULD LEAD TO A LAWSUIT! cafe Hagan needs to get their ACT TOGETHER! Pay those bill because having NO HEATER at the early ours is CRUEL! And I never got a call back! Just got an EYE ROLL FROM THE CASHIER read more
This cafe was packed when I arrived at the cafe around 11 am. I ordered the season special white chocolate based latte. Oh boy so delicious. So rich and not so sugary sweet. I love the fact that the menu is on the stand before you get in line as I feel many people sit and take time ordering when they reach the cashier. I also love that you passed the bakery glass case before cashier to view what is available. I ordered the Simon mousse toast. The toast was quite thick and little stiff and difficult to cut into it. It tasted very organic. I do not know if I would order the toast again, but I like to the bakeries next time. read more
Cafe Hagen atop Queen Anne at Boston is part of an indie cafe/bakery/roastery family with six Seattle locations: Queen Anne (2), Ballard (Nordic Museum), Pike Place Market (Freya), South Lake Union and on Dexter. Their signature niche "brings the casual yet refined, elegant yet subtle charm of Copenhagen to Seattle" and "a passion to share the best elements of hygge - the cozy contentment and well-being you feel from enjoying the simple things in life." Fascinating Scandinavian mission statements. I am late to the hygge scene and had the opportunity to check it out on 12/26/23 to meet the effervescent Yelp Elite friend, Dawne F, visiting from Florida. After a rainy Christmas, she definitely brought her signature ray of sunshine the day after. Queen Anne neighborhood was bustling with pedestrian traffic soaking in the bright rays. This particular intersection has Cafe Hagen, a long time Starbucks and a Seattle OG from 1994, Caffe Ladro. This location used to be Teacup, Sorrentino's, Firefly, Luminette, Storyville Coffee, and now Cafe Hagen. The popular cafe was packed and the line looked daunting when I arrived. I admired the pastry case, all freshly baked from their production bakery, Freya at Pike Place Market. Many of the laminated pastries are gigantic, as I noted the larger sized pain au chocolat. Thankfully, no uppity hipster barista attitude. Both women handled the customer volume with finesse. I was surprised though that the largest sized espresso beverage was 12 ounces, not 16 ounces. My mocha was on the pricey side, but had lovely latte art, spot on temperature and balanced flavor. I ended up sharing a table with bar seating with two other patrons while awaiting Dawne's arrival. It was a great cafe environment where it was not exclusively a sea of laptops, but definitely with pairs and upward, including family groups enjoying lively conversation. I enjoyed the interior aesthetic and plentiful natural light. Dawne and I enjoyed our two hour meet up with our mocha and iced chai, respectively, at Cafe Hagen. read more
This was my second visit to the Cafe. The first time I had cake. It was delicious. The second time, I had breakfast bun with mushroom. The bread is warm. The sandwich is full of comfort things like cheese and other ingredients. It looks small but is packed with calories. The rose and pistachio latte was also delicious. The reason it is not 5* is due to small crammed space. read more
I just had a glorious and unusual brunch at Cafe Hagen. It was my first time visiting the tiny but pleasant space on Queen Anne. You order at the counter, get a number, and choose a seat from among the smaller tables and counter seats. The weekend brunch was simple and delicious! You choose between bacon, sausage, and mushrooms. I picked the bacon today but will try the mushrooms next time. It came beautifully arranged on a board with small bowls of scrambled eggs, a seeded half-avocado, hard cheese, honey-drizzled grapefruit, toasted bread, and a lovely danish heart waffle with folded into a bowl with strawberry sauce and what I think was clotted cream. What a delight! read more

Cafe Hagen location in Upper Queen anne! This site has been many things in the past including a Storyville Coffee location and a tea shop before that. Great savory menu that it shares with the SLU and uptown location. Tried the healthy skillet which comes in a cute (but blazingly hot) mini cast iron skillet. Pretty tasty scramble mix of eggs, veg and meats! The coffee is delicious here and tried the pour over ethiopian single origin. The baked goods as with all Cafe Hagen locations look absolutely decadent! I would recommend this place to get some work done but bring your noise canceling headphones because they keep the music kind of loud for my old ears! read more
I'm definitely glad this place opened up in this neighborhood!! I was impressed by the atmosphere - really quaint inside - lots of greenery. It felt a little crowded in there with all the stuff though. Food was yummy - got the scramble and the prosciutto toast. All the flavors were great and the portion was satisfying. The bread was great! It was a super quaint place to catch up with a friend. Prices were on the higher side. Selection could be a bit bigger. read more
I tried Cafe Hagen in SLU and loved it, so I also had to check out this location when I was in the area! I had a very similar positive experience here. I got the breakfast bun with sausage and loved it. It's a tasty breakfast sandwich, but also light enough to start your morning. I also got a coffee and I love the cute mug they put it in! The bakery items looked so good, so I had to pick one. It was hard to choose, but I ended up getting a rum ball. It had rich and chocolately - yum! I always have a good time at Cafe Hagen, so I'll be back! Can't wait to try more of the bakery items. read more
A very pleasant (and busy!) brunch spot! We ordered an array of sweets plus their danish breakfast(?) and sandwich! The breakfast plate was VERY big, could certainly feed two people with smaller appetites. Personally I was not a huge fan of the waffle, but it was very pretty -- it had a very strong cinnamon/cardamom flavor. The grapefruit + honey combo was so simple and delicious, I'm definitely doing that at home now. Also, we subbed sausage for bacon. All in all a very simple but well made breakfast! All pastries come from a bakery and are not toasted, which is a little disappointing. I ended up taking some of these home and toasting them myself and it is so much better! My favorite was the churro cruffin :) read more

I absolutely love coming here, but I don't always love the prices. Luckily you get what you pay for when I do stop by. Even better, the insides are open and cozy enough to bring a laptop and get some work done while enjoying your meal. The lines get long, but they have several places you can review the menu. You will need this time to review the menu as they have many detailed items to pick from. Even when I got to the counter I still needed time lol. So glad their servers are nice and easy to work with. I'll just have to come back again and again to get all they I want. Lol. Fyi, yes the brunch is a bit pricey, but it's filling and comes with a nice selection of yummy foods. So worth it. I do wish it also came with some sort of drink included, but I guess we can't have it all. If you don't feel like spending an arm and a leg for a full meal. A simple drink and pastry will forsure still put a smile on your face. Be sure to enjoy the view of the surroundings as is located in a beautiful upper queen anne neighborhood with a lot to do in the area. A great place to come from a brunch date. Once I came during a street market so I got to explore after. read more
Looking for the typical Seattle experience that is not Starbucks. Our hotel had the nerve to offer coffee from St. Louis . Kinda like going to Kentucky and drinking Tennessee whiskey instead of bourbon. Anyways , this place was the Seattle experience we were looking for. Great coffee and a nice ambiance. Service was quick and with a smile ! read more

My friend and I checked out this place on a Friday after work! We wanted quick bites and a place to chat and catch up. We ordered a tiramisu, latte and a espresso martini to start with and then got our mains; cheese and potatoes flatbread, turkey pesto sandwich and a bread assortment to share. It was a perfect place to grab good food and chat for awhile. The place was very well decorated and the staff was very friendly! The food was great as well, although I don't think the bread assortment was that good- the bread was a bit dry and came with balsamic + olive oil and radish. I highly recommend getting the flatbread though! Im excited to try other things on the menu! read more
I found Cafe Hagen on Saturday morning while in Queen Anne for an early morning swim. I had the marble bread and it was some of the best breakfast pastry bread I have ever had. So light and fluffy, and not too sweet. The coffee at these places makes me nervous because I find that most of them use beans that are more bitter than I prefer, but my iced americano was perfect. If I wasn't in a hurry I would have ordered more, but I will be back to get the full experience very soon! read more

This reviewer is not easily impressed, so when I tell you that Cafe Hagen is special you can trust me. I'm lucky enough to live on Queen Anne Hill, right in the middle of several Cafes. Good , Fresh, Made to Order Food ... FAST. The staff is always accommodating and eager to please, I consider myself lucky to have found these gems in the spring so I can enjoy my Breakfast, Lunch or Spirits with a friend on their patio's. 5 stars read more
Food : 10/10. The fact that it's a bakery makes it ideal for ordering bread as it's freshly baked! I wouldn't recommend the skillet or any other items as their speciality is bread. Seed snapper is my fav item - it has a hint of sweet and savory and it's not overwhelming in either of the flavors! If you're a mocha fan, order it with oat milk! It's amazing :) Ambience: The decor is mainly plants so it feels refreshing, and makes up for a perfect brunch spot, especially by the wide windows! Staff: Friendly! read more
