For my beverage, I had an iced matcha made with lemonade and topped with vanilla coconut milk cold foam. I was extremely refreshing. It was a perfect treat and was light in my stomach. The foam was so deliciously creamy. I loved the lemon flavor, and it worked well with the matcha. I think they could have done a little more lemon, but I always think that. They have lots of beautiful looking pastries to try. The croissants were especially beautiful to admire. There is ample amounts of seating, so you can choose to take your goodies or eating them inside. I went in the early afternoon, so there wasn't any line, but I am sure if you went at brunch time, it would be a whole different story. Fresh Flours was such a pleasant surprise! I tried the lavender matcha and it was sooo good--perfectly balanced with just the right hint of floral without being overpowering. Definitely one of the more unique and memorable drinks I've had in a while. I also got the oat and coconut cookie, which was absolutely divine. It was incredibly soft and had a great texture, with the coconut adding a really nice flavor. Honestly one of those cookies you wish you had grabbed two of. I've been coming to fresh flours for a while a thought I'd finally leave a review. They have a stellar array of consistency delicious baked goods, and it would be hard for someone to not find something they enjoy here. The fruit danishes are my favorite! Fresh Flours has very quickly become my absolute favorite coffeehouse in Seattle. The pastry selection is something that dreams are made of, I am never able to decide on just one (luckily the staff are always so lovely and patient with me). As a pastry lover, I love a morning pastry, but more often than not if a cafe has incredible pastries, the coffee drinks are something to be desired...well, NOT HERE!!! No more sacrificing yummy coffee for a beautiful pastry or vice versa :) My partner doesn't always enjoy sweets for breakfast, so she has gotten the breakfast tacos and they usually never even make it out the door. On top of all of their delightful wares and treats, the staff is incredibly kind, they make the vibes so cozy and comfortable (and I'm never made to feel bad for my indecisiveness!!). How I heard of this place: We were in search of a gluten-free bakery many years back and came across Fresh Flours. It had been a long time since our last visit, so we decided to give it another go! I arrived here around 9:30am on a Friday. I really did not expect this place to be busy but the availability of seat inside were limited (yes it was that busy). They also have some outdoor seating available though. By the time I left around noon, more seats were available but I think it filled up as other people arrived. I ordered the Peach Danish and hot chocolate. Then on the way out, I had to get their croissant. -Peach danish: 5 stars. It was delicious. I was not planning to eat it right away but one bite became 5 then I ended up finishing it. The dough was just so authentic and one of the best (if not the best) I've tried in Seattle: buttery and the layers where just perfect. -hot chocolate : 4 stars? I didn't really care for it. Just hot chocolate too special about it. -croissant: 5 stars. Just as good as the peach danish minus the peach. Definitely recommend their croissant or danish pastry. I was house sitting in the area and in need of some nourishment when I stumbled upon the best lil coffee shop on Phinney. What a remarkable discovery!! I ended up revisiting this place every morning - it's the perfect spot to grab a drip (light roast is amazing), get some computer work done, and enjoy a wide selection of burritos, sandwiches, and tacos for breakfast and lunch. I love the delicious Treehugger Sandwich (arugula, egg, and white cheddar on ciabatta) and if I feel a cold coming on, the immunity boost shots with ginger and pineapple heal all ailments. One of my top 5 places in Seattle for pastries, they usually have 10-14 different kinds of pastries left at lunchtime on weekends. Today I tried the ham & cheese croissant (4/5 stars because it was dough-y around the ham), the pecan pull-apart (easily 5/5 stars, loved it!!), and the Mt Bakon taco (solid 5/5 stars, would happily order again). The food here is pretty solid especially being close to the woodland zoo. Coffee is great here. Try out the matcha latte, the flavors really mix together well and is delicious. All the pastry on the counter looks delicious. I also tried the sunrise burrito which is premade and warmed up. The insides of mine came a bit cold or not fully hot but isn't wasn't too bad. Also got the startup which is a egg sandwich which I would recommend. I think the picking up process is a bit confusing and it's too easy to take the wrong order. I think something like calling names for the order would really ease the confusion rather than just calling out the drinks especially for people like me who have never been and know the menu. Seattle is filled with coffee shops and bakeries, and my eyes and my bank account are on two different budgets. We'll talk about that later... Anways, Fresh Flours! Started by two Japanese friends, their menu features fresh laminated pastries with a hint of Asian flavors. I got their blackberry danish with an oat milk cappuccino. The danish was heavenly. Flaky, airy, and not dense, it was everything a danish should be. The blackberry custard/jam was sweet and tart, a creamy contrast to the flaky pastry. The coffee was a bit light in my opinion, and I wished it was stronger. Service was okay, not the most friendly, but it was still professional and as it should be. This one isn't nearly as comfortable as its SLU location. I was a bit disappointed with its outdated furniture and worn string-woven chairs. Delicious pastries and coffee! This was my first visit, and I'll admit it was pretty overwhelming. So many options and the line was long but moved quickly. I let a few people go ahead of me while I dealt with my indecisiveness. Finally decided on a swiss and onion croissant, oat milk latte, peanut butter and a chocolate cookie. The latte was smooth and the perfect temperature. The croissant was flaky and full of flavor. It was so good I forced myself to eat it much slower than norm. Who cares about onion breath; it was so worth it! Of all the items purchased, this is one I'll surely return for! The peanut butter cookie was rolled in sugar - a little too sweet for me, but oh how I loved the addition of chopped peanuts. The chocolate cookie was rich and again too sweet for my taste. The customer service was great, the space is small, but there's plenty of neighborhood parking. My friend and I met on a Saturday mid morning and there was no seating available however, the neighborhood is walkable, so we took our goodies to go. Really enjoyed the mint matcha--good balance of flavors, on the sweeter side. They have an 8oz size that was perfect. I tried the almond croissant, pear almond Danish, kouign amann + a small latte (~$20 total) Pastries aren't as flaky or flavorful as I have hoped. The almond croissant is a bit dense and breadier than for example Celine or Bakery Nouveau. The pear almond danish is a little bland and suppressed in flavor considering it has plenty of pear slices , a bonus that it it pear-shaped, which is quite cute. Latte tastes great and is strong, I can feel my legs shaking as I'm writing this review lol. How are the people around the Phinney neighborhood not extra fat? There are at least 4 incredible dessert places within 2 blocks of each other. I wish I live closer! Anyway, Fresh Flours at the corner with doors wide open on an inviting sunny day, taking a peak is a must. Immediately I see some awesome looking pastry options and also recognized Japanese treats from the nearby Tokara, which is difficult to buy from the main store but they offer selections here. Yay! Between goodies from Fresh Flours and goodies from Tokara, this is an excellent place for treats! Fresh Flours Items: Chocolate croissant - 4.5 stars Despite the number of things I bought, I had 3 little white baggies to carry all the items nilly willy, and I had to request the 3rd baggie. As a result, I partly moshed my chocolate croissant by the time I walked back to my car, which is a shame. It's a gloriously rounded half dome, crispy crust, with two pieces of chocolate inside. It's much better warmed with the chocolate softened. This is near perfection ignoring the moshed parts. Macarons - Yuzu lemon, Earl Grey, Black Current - 4 Stars The flavor of the yuzu and the black current is amazing! Earl Grey was too subtle; I couldn't recognize it. They are a touch flat, visually and literally. The outside is not quite as crispy (but can't be crunchy!). The ratio of the outer shell and inner cream is just right. Matcha Tea Cakes - 5 Stars The matcha flavor is strong, which I love! Tea cakes can be dry sometimes, but this one has the right balance. The bits of sugar on the outside makes it extra naughty. Azuki Bar, $2.25 - 4.5 Stars For the azuki fan, this is a must. It's an extra fancy cookie sandwich with a generous azuki center and handmade soft cookies on the outside. Tokara Item: Mochi, $5.20 - 4.5 Stars I don't know the exact name of the one I bought as the signs are all moved around; I think it's called the Young Grass. (The staff was annoyed that I asked the name...) The cost is for the workmanship. A fresh, pretty, soft-gummy mochi forms the outer floral petals. Strips of yellow mochi forms the stamen of the flower. The inside is generously filled with azuki. This is yummy and spendy. But it's worth it once in a while. There was one staff member when I went. He was nice but came across as impatient, kinda annoyed that I was looking at everything. Ah well. read more

Was visiting Seattle and came here (to the Phinney Ridge) location. They have a large selection of pastries: most notably the croissants and danishes. I got the onion and swiss croissant and thought it was really good! The pastry was thin, but the flavors were amazing! I also got an oat milk cappuccino, which TBH was not great. But I wasn't mad because I was coming off the high of the delicious pastry. I stopped in here after a cold rainy run and was delighted to see the array of baked goods and hot drinks! I appreciated that they were replenishing the pastries late morning on a sunday so there were still lots of choices. The twice baked pumpkin croissant is seasonal but if its there you should try it! I also enjoyed the pear and cream pastry! The kouign aman wasn't all I was hoping for but still tasty. The coffee was good and they had a selection of alt milks. Note the indoor space isn't huge so if it's a popular time, plan on getting items to go. There are also hot breakfast items but I didn't try those on this visit. The pastries here are amazing. If all you want to do is grab a pastry and go, this is one of the best bakeries in the city. Sadly, the staff likes to keep the seating area cold. I might be drinking a good coffee and a yummy pastry but they leave the door open because they are hot (the ovens from the bakery. Keep them hot I'm sure.) Either management needs to put fans in the back so the staff doesn't die or they need to figure out a way to heat the seating area so customers don't feel cold. One of the main reasons to go to the coffee shop is to sit in a warm space and drink a nice coffee and a pastry. It sucks that I have to buy pastries from this place and go to another place to stay warm and drink coffee. read more
