TLDR: MY NEW FAVORITE BAKERY & extra stars for it being a super close drive. Good coffee, great pastry variety, a good amount of seating, good food options AND longer hours compared to other cafes. Came to try the bakery because I fell in love with their bread (discovered at PCC) and I'm ECSTATIC. Prices are on par with my other favorite bakery (Rosellinis in Whittier Heights). Everything I had was delicious. This will be my new spot from now on. Need to go back to try the things they ran out of when I visited ! They have locations in West Seattle, 2 downtown, & Capitol Hill as well :) read more

Macrina always manages to deliver subpar quality somehow. I asked for my bread to be sliced and this is what they gave me. Are you serious? There was another time where they burned my quiche to a crisp so I asked for another one and they were the absolute rudest about it. They gave me the new quiche in complete silence. Unreal consistency in service! Also the pastry is always bad read more

Macrina Bakery & Cafe - My bread "sliced" - Bakeries Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Stopped by Macrina Bakery & Cafe and had a really nice visit overall. I loved the cherry and almond scone, which was definitely the highlight for me and such a good bakery treat to pair with a casual coffee stop. The latte was just okay and a bit mediocre for my preference, so I probably wouldn't come here specifically for the coffee. That said, the vibes were very cute and cozy, with that neighborhood cafe feel that makes it a pleasant place to pop into. Service was fast too, which I appreciated, especially if you're just looking to grab a quick bite. Overall, a cute neighborhood cafe with great pastries, and I'd come back to try other pastries. read more

We stumbled upon this place while visiting Seattle our Airbnb was walking distance, I would highly recommend having their pastries and coffee. We even got some French bread to go for dinner that night. Everything we tried was good it did not disappoint and the decor is super cute too makes the place feel so cozy and inviting read more

Good location with great baked goods and coffee. Service was good and the people are nice too.

I never really like any sandwiches from cafes. But that changed when I tried Macrina bakery in Kent. So I have a very high expectation from Macrina any location. However this place I didn't like very much unfortunately. I ordered a cup of americano, a cup of tomato soup and a croissant. Their croissant that was warmed was very soft and great buttery flavor. The soup was not strong more vegetables soup with some tomatoes to me. It came with a wheat bread and butter. The 12 oz americano was bland. The bakery was full of customers that we had to share the window seats with another person. Still it was a good environment that we were able to stay for a while. read more

Always fresh pastries and great coffee. Staff is great as well and it's a good location to hang out for a bit.

This was not the place for me. I found no flavor in the cookie and my coffee had lots of grainy coffee bits. I may give it another chance in the future. They do have lots of pastry options and sitting area if you wanna meet up with from or for work. read more

What a nice treat for the neighborhood. We went there after a walk on a weekday afternoon and it was still a pleasant crowd with many options left in the bakery section. Their matcha was refreshing. Their walnut bread was yummy and fresh. The cafe is pretty big with spacious seating for the family to enjoy. There is a nice ramp inside for the mom's with strollers like I was. The staff was sweet and quick. Street parking. read more

Food is delicious , but service is very inefficient. Ambiance is cute coffee house with share tables. Feels like a neighborhood gem. Problem area... arrived 12:30p... only 2 ppl before me. Then placed order of 1 chicken pot pie, 1 quiche...2 little mini pies. Why did it take over 30min to get food. 1:11p food arrives at table. I ask why did it take so long? The last snaps it wasn't that long... only 18 minutes and here's a few coffee card. We got lots of food request at the same time. Ohhh.. maybe. Problem is they have lots of staff, but very inefficient use. Endless process... for good food. read more

Cute little neighborhood cafe that's walking distance to where I was staying. Love their selection of pastries and breads. Coffee is good and I love the interior decorations. This location seemed quite busy with "remote" workers or students so I'd say it would be a good place to bring your laptop and get some work done! read more

I split a coconut cream pie with an old friend. It was as good as I could have expected. The crust was a little hard and where it's hard to cut, it was actually good because then I could hold it up to eat and it didn't flop around. The quiche I had was wonderful as well. I think it had asparagus and cheese. The house salad looked great however it had nuts in it so I had to give it up to my friend. I assumed it was going to be a super basic salad (I.e. just lettuce and maybe a carrot curl) so I didn't read the description well. My friend said it was great and I'm happy it didn't go to waste. The way it was constructed I think if I had asked they would have excluded it. read more

If you're looking for a good spot to get some work done, this is it! I went on a Friday morning and it was empty. The employee was super helpful when we asked about nut allergies. The three pastries we got were solid. The Cornetto was probably the standout. Next time I'm coming back for the carrot cake cups. The place was very clean and had plenty of seating. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Amazing food, vibes, and service! We go here at least once a week -- it's truly an incredible neighborhood staple. And honestly, to the people leaving harsh reviews because they waited a few extra minutes for coffee or didn't love one item... maybe give the staff a chance to make it right first. They are always kind, hardworking, and would gladly replace something if there was an issue. It's frustrating seeing people bash a small business over one imperfect experience when the overall atmosphere, food, and service here are consistently amazing. Good coffee and fresh food take time -- the people behind the counter are humans, not AI robots. read more

Ambiance and service always top notch. Food, sure it was good. Biscuit, sausage, and egg breakfast sandwich was good on the dry side, it could take it to the next level if they had added gravy on the side. Macrina Bakery & Cafe - Latte with tres leches and fizzy water. - Bakeries Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Food is delicious!! so many delicious options in the bakery case and the breakfast sandwiches were amazing; friendly staff.

I stopped by to pick up a baguette and a few bagels this morning. I've had great bread from Macrina before at other locations but perhaps bread is made differently at this one. I was most disappointed. Both the bread and bagels tasted stale and dry. As well, their crusts were thin and rubbery, not like you'd expect from artisan breads - more like day-old supermarket breads. I don't know whether they were baked fresh but they certainly didn't live up to what I expected. While the other offerings looked delicious, I would strongly advise against this location for breads. read more

Macrina Bakery & Cafe - Baguette Plain Bagel - Bakeries Near Me - Seattle, Washington

We were very excited for the opening of a new Macrina Bakery, but after visiting several times since they opened in June 2023, I'm sad to say that it is underwhelming here. TL;DR: their bread is good! Their sandwiches are not. Some of the pastries are good. Ambiance/amenities are good. If you want hot food or coffee there are better and more affordable places to go in the neighborhood. I've tried a range of items here - breakfast sandwich, lunch sandwich, cookies and pastries, and coffee/cold brew. SANDWICHES - (for reference I have tried the Italiano Breakfast Sandwich, and the Demi Baguette Sandwich) such a bad deal and SOO bland. There is hardly anything in the sandwiches, and I'm honestly surprised by how bland and tasteless they are. After the first couple of bites, I actually ended up bringing the rest home with me to add more stuff to because they were just not enjoyable to eat. The bread itself in both cases was good, however. Do yourself a favor and get a breakfast sandwich from local cafes Cloud City, Javasti, Blue Saucer, or literally anywhere else for half the price. SCONES (blueberry) - I am not a fan of their scone consistency here. It is very cakey and bready, and manages to be dry and tasteless at the same time. BISCUIT WITH JAM - after the terrible scone experience, I expected to not like the biscuit - but it was actually VERY good! I recommend this. ALMOND CROISSANT - pretty good. A bit smaller and on the dry/toasty side, but still good. GINGER MOLASSES COOKIE - great! This is one of their staple items and one of the better ginger molasses cookies you'll find in town. They also sell these in bags of mini sizes. We've had a few other seasonal/specialty pastries here and they have been hit or miss, nothing to write home about. PORCINI MUSHROOM HARVEST ROLLS - bought these for Thanksgiving and they were yummy. LATTES - it's fine, it's a latte, no complaints. COLD BREW - expensive; for a cheaper cold brew go up the street. STILL/SPARKLING WATER ON TAP - one of my favorite features here! Self serve, and complimentary. LOGISTICS/ORDERING - the whole logistics of how they do their operations and ordering here is beyond frustrating. Customers are often confused by what to do from the minute they walk up to the door. You are instructed to walk into one door, which deposits you into a line for the bread/pastry case. It seems like you are supposed to order your pastries here. What if you just want to order a hot food item not in the case? Or grab and go bread? Or coffee/drink only? Do you still wait in the pastry line or go straight to the cashier? Is it for here or to go? Sometimes you order with the pastry people and sometimes they tell you to order at the cashier. There's no rhyme or reason and it causes unnecessary frustration for everyone. Maybe some posted instructions would help the masses. Macrina is also known to be *not* a dog friendly establishment (which is fine, I can respect that), however they are located in one of the most dog concentrated neighborhoods as well as right across from a park where the entire neighborhood (and then some) brings their dogs, and these people all want to go to visit Macrina, but there is no place or even room for people to tie up or wait with their dogs other than standing awkwardly on the sidewalk. Everyone hovers around the entrance with their dog and jams up the entrance and sidewalk. We witnessed a woman literally tie her dog TO THE DOOR HANDLE OF THE ENTRANCE....(maybe to make a statement?) I've also seen a woman bring her dog inside anyway, in her arms, and go up to the counter to pick up her food. Their outdoor seating area is a joke, not very accessible, and also borderline dangerous (raised up on a narrow ledge with no safety barrier/railing). Not sure why they didn't make better use of their parking lot area. read more

I really enjoyed this location for its roomy interior space and nice food and drink selections.

I've been coming to Macrina's since day one if it's opening. I write a stellar review a year ago and I'm writing another one. Autumn and their amazing staff go above and behind. The baristas are exceptional and the staff that bring out the food always provide great customer service. I appreciate front counter staff that manage the long lines, work the register and triage accommodations. Keep up the great work. I don't know everyone's names and I wished I did. I would like for everyone to be commended. My fav go to's are the focaccia, the pinwheel and the avocado toast. Please support local read more

I think they are a top notch bakery with the arrogance of stuffing their DAY OLD SOUR DOUGH BREAD as much as they can to those who are fooled by it. I however really like their SOUR DOUGH bread, WHEN IT'S FRESH and even knowing they are stacking the shelves with day old bread and some will never buy it again. THEY MAKE IT so skinny, it's all very hard crust , and I broke a lower tooth on it, but still buy it. PLEASE make it shorter and fatter so the day old bread isn't so noticable. Are they that hard up that you cant have FRESH SOUR DOUGH BREAD? really??????????? JUST offer it WHEN it's freshly Made read more

Congrats on 30 years in business, a well loved, popular Seattle OG - Macrina Bakery & Cafe! Today is the grand opening at their Maple Leaf location (6/30/23). Nerd alert as I was here by 0622 and did not take long for a lengthy line to form behind me. It was great to see the well stocked pastry and bread case with speed racks full of product! The sights! The aromatic smells! Love the layout of this larger site. Plentiful assortment of indoor seating, lovely decor, windows at this corner site allowing plentiful natural light. Bought a plain corneto, two chocolate cornetos, sticky bun, orange hazelnut pinwheel and an 8oz mocha. Observing a lengthy line, but the Macrina team are pros anticipating this. Well organized, efficient, and welcoming! This will become a neighborhood anchor, especially being well situated across the Maple Leaf Reservoir Park. On a Metro bus line and decent street parking availability. Very happy to have this location in NE Seattle, much closer than my visits to their SoDo, Belltown, and Queen Anne sites. A big fan of Macrina since the beginning. Congrats to Leslie Mackie and the entire Macrina team! Top notch for your viennoiserie, boulangerie, coffee needs. Great welcoming neighborhood location. A highly recommended spot! read more

Came here for brunch last weekend and it's such a cute bakery. It's self seating so we got in line and took a look at the goods and made our order. Great cafe and bakery near the maple leaf park. They have fresh bread and pastries, and they also have good coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating. Order and wait on the side to pick up. They also have in house made dog treats, so fun. Matcha is ok. read more

Some staff is sweet . Food is ok . But I was disappointed, when I had no refill for my coffee and spoke to by a rude female and she was demanding told me to buy an americano instead ... in Instead of giving me my drip refill or the americano , It was like 520pm. No one had said this to me . She was expecting me to pay up , Probably to be lazy and not give me my drip coffee ...: Since she was closing ? a horrible experience read more

Sugary, bland, mass produced pastry. Still, not a deal breaker since no other bakery in the area, but service is marginal. Orders are wrong, lackadaisical staff who don't seem to want to be there. Just like another Starbucks bit less efficient and less happy diligent workers. read more

Big fan of Macrina's breads, though I typically get those elsewhere closer to home. I like coming in here for a scone or pastry treat then walking the neighborhood or the park across the street. The verdura veggie sandwich I tried recently was also very tasty. They start running out of lunch items mid-afternoon in my experience. And it can also be difficult to find indoor table space if you're planning to stay. Minus one star for those mishaps at this location. read more

Lovely bright airy space with lots of mixed seating. Prepare to share tour table as it is community seating. Lots of folks meeting to catch up or work on their laptops/ work meetups. Good solid coffee with very poor latte art- doesn't take away from the taste though. You line up to place your order at the counter- they take your order and then walk over to billing. Service for this portion was efficient and friendly. The baristas and waitress seem overworked and not as happy as the first counter staff. Takes a little away as it's almost a lackluster, check off the order ( think mcdonalds) type of service. They are known for their bread, pastries- stick to those and you wont be disappointed. That would be 5 stars for food. If you get any of their lunch or other menu items which are made to order- would put it at 2 stars for taste and likely not worth the money when you have so many other options nearby for good food. We tried a slice of cake- excellent, latte- excellent ( sans art), chicken pot pie- very buttery/ oily with mild flavors, verdura sandwich- lacked salt or any flavors, the olives on the side provided most of the flavor, bread was good but you can likely make something better at home. Great place if you are meeting someone for coffee and a snack or want to work. Might get busy and tougher to find a spot during meal times or evenings/ weekends. read more

Finally there's a coffee shop right across the street from my favorite park. Finally there's a rival to cloud city coffee and another option for coffee lovers. I believe this is their 3rd or 4th location in seattle and they seem to offer amazing pastries and above average latte, way better than cloud city in my opinion. The place is huge and always packed on the weekends. It's really frustrating because the wait can be at least 15-20 min, it might be because this location is new but only time will tell. Oh and I forgot to mention that it's a bit pricy, one oat milk latte will run you $8.49 read more

The issue here is not the coffee or the baked goods - both are very good. However, the service is painfully slow - baristas spend time on phones, making coffee orders one-handed management needs to address this - not a goid spot to pick up coffee to go - prepare for a good long wait read more

I had a craving for their avocado toast. I tried it yesterday. It is just a joke. One thin slice of bread with mashed avocado which tasted sour. They used not even a half of small avocado on my toast. Bread was burned on edge. Charge for it was $10.50. A shame! read more

Yummm! Never met a beautiful crafted baguette I didn't like. Macrina is just a staple. But also: never been to such a beautiful macrina before. I've been to their bwlltown location forever ago. Then came capital hill. But this! Such a stunning decor. Absolutely beautiful: architectural envy from outside in. I love the high ceilings, chandeliers, gorgeous coffee bar ( marbles), beautiful booths, luxe chairs. It's just a feast for my eyes. Luckily, their food matches the decor. I mean! I can eat their baguettes for days. A basket of fresh baked baguettes and a giant latte is my goto happy meal. And a perfect lunch. Throw in their pastries/ Yumm! Spice walnut was perfectly fall. All the flavors: cardamom! Walnut. Just Yumm. I'm a pumpkin fan as well their croissants. But Cornetto! Takes you back home. Like Roma Cornetto taste. I love it. I wish I can have a bottomless Cornetto brunch. Chef kiss. Did I mention the decor? I wish I can work from here all day with unlimited Cornetto and lattes. My unlimited would be 2 Cornettos and 3 lattes. Or 4 lattes. But would be fun! Free parking outside on the street. read more
