Le Panier - A Little Taste of Paris on Pike Place Le Panier is exactly the kind of spot that makes Seattle's Pike Place Market special. The almond croissant was genuinely impressive -- flaky, golden, loaded with toasted almonds and just the right dusting of powdered sugar. My only minor note is I could've eaten two of them -- wish it were a touch bigger! The macarons were equally delightful, soft with great flavor. The space itself is charming -- maybe 10 tables, French vintage posters on the walls, striped floors -- cozy without feeling cramped. Water was already set out, service was friendly and smooth. If you're walking Pike Place and want something authentically French and beautiful, skip the tourist traps and come here. Five stars, no question.

Almond croissant was delicious -- fresh, rich, and full of flavor. The place is very stylish and cozy, right around Pike Street. Service is great too. Really nice spot to enjoy a classic French pastry in a beautiful setting.

Café Latte and Wild Strawberry Macaron

Was recommended by a friend to check this place out and this hit the mark. Coffee and bakery food was delicious. Loved their brioche, light and fluffy. Loved their wild strawberry macaron, light and sweet. Loved the Caffé Latte, a bit bitter and rich. Place was small, so at around 2 pm on a Friday, could not find an open seat as people were hanging out and relaxing here already. Overall, from my friend to me to you, I recommend!

Kouign Amann

Everywhere I go, I have to find a bakery. I got the ham and cheese croissant and the kouign amann. Both were ok. I think I've been spoiled by SF baked goods, so nothing can compare. I read that their sweet baked goods are better so next time I'll give them a second try and get those instead!

Enjoyed this little pastry. Lots of flavor coming through from the veggies and herbs. It was served warm, which was perfect. Expensive.

Cheers!

I had to stop by when visiting Seattle because I kept hearing that they had good macarons. I'm very picky! Well they are by far some of the best I've had. Really delicious! My bestie had a pistachio eclair and said it was good too.

4.5 stars for this pastry shop. It is located in the Pike Market. This is a French bakery shop. It has good pastry and coffee. I got an Amandine pastry. It is top with slice almonds and powder sugar. The inside is cream filling. Very good for breakfast or sweet items. I also got a London fog coffee. This is coffee with tea mixed. I went there in the open hour there was no line. I noticed the line getting longer later of the day.

We wanted some coffee and we were walking by this place, had a long line, but it moved quickly. We got a Cannalle (it was dry) two Caramel Frappuccinos (this really disappointed me. Because half the cup was just foam. It tasted good, but the cup was literally just half liquid and half foam.)

Had a few pasterys and they were all delicious. This place did not disappoint. I wish I tried more while I was in Seattle.

Galette des Rois

The best French bakery in town. Everything that they make is so good, fresh tasting, and not too sweet. We really enjoyed our chocolate croissant and madeleine. Their chocolate is not too sweet and perfect amount of chocolate inside the croissant. Madeleine is crispy on the edges and the inside is more dense, different from store bought pastries and it's delicious. Their macaroon is good and the flavor I recommend is the wild strawberry. I was very happy to see they have the Galette Des Rois, a puff pastry almond cream cake that has a very beautiful history behind the cake.

Kouign amann

My mom loved the kouign aman she got here. Nice seating inside here and they have a large selection of drinks as well as pastries. Very popular place in Seattle. No line when we got here

Close your eyes and bite into any one of the tasty pastries available at Le Panier -- you might just think you're in Paris. Classic croissants, perfect eclairs, and a variety of other delightful bites not to be missed.

There's a line, which must mean this place is good! I waited maybe fifteen minutes before ordering. The server was friendly. I didn't get any pastries or coffee, but I got the desserts like chocolate cake. It was so good and not too dense! It was a melt-in-your-mouth type of cake. The eclairs were delicious but tiny. Macarons start at $3, and you can get a box of 4 or 10 or more. Indoor seating only. They close at 5 PM. No wifi Apple Pay/Credit card accepted No bathroom

Any vegan options?

I doubt it. It's a French Patisserie! Butter's the thing 😂!

Is it necessary to arrive early in the day for best selection (amandine croissant, any other popular items) - do they run out by the afternoon as some places do?

Yes, as any place going early is best, but they are always replacing what has been sold, the place gets busy but they do stop replacing baked goods close to closing time.

Are there any glazed croissants?

Traditional croissants-- but they have some great fillings and styles that vary. We had a fantastic cherry pistachio one a few months ago! The chocolate and almond are also delicious.

Better to eat-in or take out? (Always packed...)

It's nice to eat there if you r able to find a seat

I originally planned to just grab a coffee and a croissant, but after noticing how popular the mushroom Gruyere croissant seemed, I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. It was incredibly delicious, perfectly filling, and even better when warmed up. The staff member kindly offered to heat it for me, which really elevated the whole experience. While they serve Umbria coffee, which isn't my personal favorite, the food more than made up for it. The service was warm and friendly, and the overall vibe was welcoming. I'll definitely be back to try the mushroom croissant again or maybe explore some of their other pastries next time.

I made the mistake of ordering a banh mí because I needed lunch and saw it advertised on their chalk board tent sign outside on the sidewalk. I'm sure everything else is great, except this. I waited 5 minutes to be served a cold sandwich. When I asked if I could warm it up, they said it would be another 7 minutes. It wasn't busy, not sure why the long and specific wait. Like everything else, this was incredibly overpriced. The only disappointment was that I would rather order a banh mí from an authentic Vietnamese restaurant than a French bakery (yes, I know about the colonialism involved).

Through several visits: Baguette, Large ($7.95) - Great baguette with bubbling golden exterior complete with the perfectly baked crust even after waiting 3 hours before cutting in and eating. The interior has the perfect moisture level and is delightfully soft and chewy. The taste overall has a deep developed flavor. This is a great baguette. The only problem - the price. I can find ones for half the price that are maybe 80% as good as this one. (5/5) Seasonal Biscuit ($4.50) - This biscuit definitely isn't Southern-style. It's more of a drop biscuit, combining a relatively soft and tender interior with a nice exterior crust, without any flakiness or layering. The interior is almost cake-like in texture and crumb, and is plenty moist. They add plenty of fresh black pepper inside. It's distributed very evenly, giving a peppery bite with every mouthful. Parmesan is added to the top of the biscuit before baking, giving plenty of umami and richness but only on the upper layer. (4/5) Green Vinaigrette Cafeteria Style Pizza ($6.25) - The pizza is kept under a warming lamp, so it starts getting a little dried out after I assume a couple of hours spent there. I do love the base though - it's focaccia-like giving a really crunchy dark golden brown crust underneath, which supports the toppings. The pizza slice has lots of structural integrity and doesn't flop over. There's a base of fragrant concentrated tomato paste-like flavor which is topped with a very even layer of cheese. Since it's warmed rather than freshly baked, the cheese starts congealing a bit. The cheese is peppered with parsley, garlic, and a bunch of mustard seeds, giving a special zing. The toppings go all the way to the sides of the pie, making it great for people who dislike crust. Even though it's cafeteria style pizza that's kept under heat lamps, I quite liked it. I wonder if I can get a really fresh slice if I get there right at 11AM when lunch starts. (5/5) Chocolate Croissant ($6.10) - Great lamination with a very aesthetic honeycomb pattern. Baked on the harder side, causing fantastic crispy flaky layers to flake off, but also creating a darker golden brown character that is on the verge of bitterness. Nicely buttery soft and chewy interior. Chocolate is a darker variety, probably somewhere around 70%, so it has a pleasing balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor. It's not typical baton, instead seems to be a section from a bar. Still warm and melty even through I didn't eat the croissant until ~30 minutes after purchasing. When cooled down further, some red fruity notes start appearing, so this seems to be be pretty high quality. (5/5) White Sourdough ($12.60) - Now this is a loaf of bread. Superb crust, probably 2 or 3 times as thick compared to competitors, creating a supreme crusty bite with a chew approaching a hard crunch with almost caramelized molasses notes on the bottom. The interior is moist and tender with a pleasing slight sourdough tang. It's a superb piece of craftsmanship. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.80) - This is another heavier bake with some acridity development on the top surface. Unlike many other bakeries where the kouign amann is basically a differently shaped croissant with sugar glaze, Sea Wolf's version feels more in line with tradition. The crumb is denser and richer, more like brioche. There's interesting black speckling inside which I believe is due to the inclusion of espresso powder given the mild coffee-like flavor. The crust is again baked hard, but it's lighter and not as flaky as the croissant. They sprinkle just a bit of salt on top of a very light caramelized sugar glaze. It's not very sweet and I didn't find it too salty unlike some other reviewers. (5/5) Plain Focaccia Slice ($4.80) - Good quality olive oil, some salt sprinkled on top to boost the flavors. Light and airy interior, but the exterior is a little wan, being more light golden brown and lacking some good crusty crisp especially on the fried bottom. Quite oily. (4/5) Sea Wolf gives out free sourdough starter, which can be requested from the cashier. Since picking it up several weeks ago, I've gone through several feed/bake cycles for making sourdough focaccia. I've visited Sea Wolf 3 or 4 times in the last month. That's a testament to how high quality their pastries and breads are. I think the only thing stopping me from visiting more is thanks to the starter I got from them fanning my baking instincts. I bake so much now that I don't have any need to buy their bread! Note: Sea Wolf charges a 3% credit card fee. This is not noted on their menu - it only appears in the POS right before paying. Kind of sketchy. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

There really has been no rhyme or reason on when there are long or short lines, but for your sake, hope that you get a short line. I'm a big fan of the horchata brioche donut, so that's what I recommend you try. The pastries are reasonably priced and freshly made, and if you don't like things that are too sweet they will be perfect for you. I think the only complaint I've had is the drinks the barista has made can be very hit or miss, especially once with Chai I had. Service was super friendly! I got the hojicha latte, the okonomiyaki frittata, black sesame cookie, kimchi focaccia, and sakura swiss roll. The hojicha latte was rich and earthy in the best way, and it went really well with the black sesame cookie, which had a great strong sesame flavor, and the texture was perfectly chewy! The focaccia was pillowy and chewy at the same - I could've eaten five of these on their own. The frittata was my least favorite item, but by no means am I saying that it's bad! I thought the sauces overpowered it a bit, and the frittata itself was a bit bland - I couldn't even tell it had sweet potato in it, but it was cooked really well. I really was looking forward to trying a cardamom croissant or bun but they didn't have either available. My iced latte was alright. Nothing to go crazy over. The cherry foam for an additional $2.00 was very pretty but that's where it stopped at. Absolutely no cherry or sakura flavor. Disappointed. The sesame cookie had a great smell to it. The aroma of sesame was strong. The cookie had a nice crisp to the edge and a chewy center. The sesame taste wasn't as strong as the smell. The spicy chicken sandwich on special was not spicy at all. It was overwhelmingly sweet from the orange glaze/sauce on the kitchen. It was a decent sandwich and I definitely finished it. Just not something I would gravitate back to. I understand the reviews about how this place doesn't live up to some extra hype. It's decent, solid and a great option for the area but to go out of your way for and wait thirty minutes in line? Not really.
