Coconut Pie
Joaquin P.

I visited Dahlia Bakery in downtown Seattle during a business trip from Florida, and it turned out to be a really memorable breakfast stop. I ordered an extra bacon and cheese sandwich on a toasted English muffin, and it was excellent. The muffin was perfectly toasted, the bacon was crisp and flavorful, and the cheese complemented everything really well. It was simple, fresh, and very satisfying to start the morning. The bakery itself has a very pleasant atmosphere. It feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy a quiet breakfast in the city. To finish, I tried a slice of triple coconut cream pie to go, and it was absolutely heavenly. Rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, it easily stood out as one of the highlights of the visit and something I won't forget anytime soon. Overall, Dahlia Bakery delivered great food, a relaxing atmosphere, and an outstanding dessert. Since I was only in Seattle briefly for business, I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'm glad I had the chance to experience it.

Cinnamon roll & latte
Lori M.

Cinnamon roll and coffee was delicious and the environment was very cool. I wish I had the option for heating up the cinnamon roll and I would have loved for 'here' or 'to go' packaging but I get with volume like theirs it's probably unreasonable. Try it out though, it's a great place!

sausage egg and cheese sandwich

I'd ordered the breakfast sandwich from here, but received the sausage egg and cheese sandwich instead, so that's the one I'll review. The bread, coming in as a kind of sourdough English muffin, is incredible. This might be the best English muffin buns I've ever had as part of a breakfast sandwich. They were the perfect sourdough - toasted really well, super airy, just the perfect amount of crispiness. I could eat this bread all day if I had the choice. Another couple things that were great - the egg, and the cheese. The egg was perfectly cooked, being super soft. The American cheese also melded in beautifully. What was a little disappointing was the sausage patty. While the maillard reaction on the outside was shown by it being a deep brown, the inside just wasn't my favorite. It tasted a little dry. Some other things - like vegetables - on this sandwich would've gone a long way in increasing flavor diversity I also got a couple of the pastries here. They're especially famous for their triple coconut cream pie, which I got a bite of. Surprisingly, I wasn't a huge fan of this. It was fine, but it pretty much didn't have a crust, meaning the only thing you really have to anchor to are shavings of coconut - since everything else is just cream. It tastes a bit like if you squirted whipped cream into a bowl, and mixed it with some coconut flavorings. Which is still good, but it's not really a pie. The coconut flavor is very strong though The salted caramel mocha cheesecake was interesting. While the crust of the cheesecake and general taste was good, there was just no salted caramel flavor at all. Also, the mocha was just too strong and ended up overpowering the cheesecake flavor itself - I had to take that part off The total came out to be around $35 for my three items. While I think the sandwich is an ok deal, and $6 for the bite is on the high side but fine, over $10 for the cheesecake feels like a lot. I should note: after letting them know of the wrong order they were very generous with the next steps. Incredible hospitality there. Overall, it's good breakfast food, but don't know if the pastries are quite worth the hype. 7.5/10

Very cute and well decorated. I liked their cute offerings. They have an outside space!

Ham and Gruyere sandwich, 2x Coconut Cream Pies, not worth $15 per slice
Brian C.

Was really looking forward to trying this bakery. A Tom Douglas establishment, but left feeling somewhat letdown. The coconut cream pie was good but nothing extraordinary with, and certainly not worth the $15 per slice price! The mochi donuts were also decent, but 6 for $25 just made me feel like this bakery was overpriced for what it was. Left spending over $120 for bakery items and two lattes. Probably won't be visiting again anytime soon. BTW, very limited seating of you plan to eat here.

Coconut Cream Bite

I used to go to Dahlia Bakery a lot when I visited Seattle more often. My favourite item being the Dahlia Donuts. After several years, I visited Dahlia Bakery again and noticed they had expanded into the space next door (Serious Pie) where the tables could be used for dining-in during the mornings. I liked having this extra space. We picked up a couple things: - Coconut Cream Bite: Good. Classic, and continues to be good. - Dahlia Donuts: OK. Clearly dealing with shrinkflation, because they are roughly half the size they used to be a few years ago. The vanilla mascarpone continues to impress. - Joe's Hash: OK. I like the ingredient combination, but it wasn't as good as I remember. Service is pretty standard for a bakery set-up. I was satisfied with my food, but it's not as good as I remember. I might come back to try some of their newer, more popular items (like the mochi donuts), but no longer crave the Dahlia Donuts

I'm back! ...for more of their Oh Mochi cake doughnuts. The texture of these is polarizing, you either love'em or hate'em, and I'm a lover. Most people seem to think mochi donuts should only be the pon de ring type which is super frustrating! I'm certain this has to do with personal preferences and expectations, so hoping to put this out there to prevent misconceptions. THESE ARE CAKE DONUTS. Again. THESE ARE CAKE DONUTS. In red font, bold, caps. Triple underlined. NOT the light and airy, slightly chewy pon de ring style donuts that are served at every other mochi donut establishment. Though those are good in their own right too. So temper your expectations accordingly! If you are not a fan of cake donuts and the denser texture of traditional mochi, then step away now. To elaborate, the special part about these cake donuts are that they are in between an American cake donut, and the texture of traditional Japanese mochi or Hawaiian butter mochi. Meaning--they are denser, they are still the slightest bit chewy but more in the vein of a teeny tiny bounce. I also like that unlike pon de ring donuts which are generally the same flavor dough with different frosting, these cake donuts have different flavored dough. Their seasonal flavors vary and this visit I ordered a chocolate espresso donut and a maple pumpkin donut ($4.50 each), another in my party also ordered an almond croissant. The chocolate donut balanced the rich chocolate dough with the slight bitterness from the coffee in the frosting and was not too sweet. The maple pumpkin flavor was good though a little on the sweeter side, definitely recommend a cup of coffee with it. I tasted a bite of the almond croissant ($5.50?) and it was very almond-forward, tasted like almond extract was added to punch up the cream inside. Ok I've said my spiel--no matter what the ratings are for the rest of Dahlia Bakery, these are one of only a couple places that I know of coast to coast that do mochi cake donuts well. Really hope they keep these around so next time I'm in Seattle, I can come enjoy these tasty treats again!

THE BEST Apple fritter, sorry I ate before the camera

3.6/5 I've heard about dahlias for years but never took the time to try it. A friend asked me to pick up a pie for a celebration so I finally got my chance. Service - honestly wasn't the best. I walked in and nobody acknowledged me. I walked back and forth in front of the pastry case but the 2 workers who both saw me were pretty focused on what they were doing. After about 2 minutes, one of them walked over and took my order. Ambiance - seats along the window in this cozy little cafe/ bakery. Your instantly met with the pastry case when you walk in. Apparently there's a whole large seating area to the left of the cafe area that I missed somehow, but that makes sense since they have a full food menu. Food - I only ordered 2 items, a coconut cream pie, which even after sitting in the car for 4 hours and then in the hotel fridge for another 4 hours, was still delicious. very flaky crust and a lot of coconut. I also grabbed an apple fritter for the road. It was small and I thought a little pricey ($7), but if I'm being honest, it was probably the best apple fritter I've ever had. And they are my go-to pastry whenever I indulge in one, so I've had a ton. Overall would have ranked higher for me if service was better, but in the end this place delivers where it mattered most. I'll be back to try their other pastry's!

Mochi donuts $24/6
Huong T.

All the treats were amazing, but the price point was a bit steep. My friend highly recommended that I stop by since it was only a two-minute walk from my hotel. We picked up some treats to go before heading out on a hike to Snoqualmie Falls. The place was very busy at 8:00 AM on a Sunday, but the line moved fairly quickly, and the service was superb.

Mocha caramel cheesecake

This is amazing bakery. Close to the glass museum and space needle if you are in that area and looking for a snack. One thing to note is there's not much seating. The birthday cake cookie was so delicious and I loved the frosting on the inside. The perfect sugar cookie. Cheesecake also delicious. They are know for the coconut cream pie which we had at a restaurant in Seattle. A lot of local restaurants serve it, it's so good. They have it in multiple sizes and a mini truffle form. All the other baked goods looked amazing as well but I would definitely recommend the birthday cookie. I doubt you will get anything bad here. They also have lunch and breakfast.

Brian T.

This is just a review for the coconut cream pie. I ordered a slice and it was quick and service was nice. It's probably the best coconut creme pie I've had and I really enjoyed the toasted big slices of coconut on top. It was rich and definitely sweet but not too overpowering, just a tad too sweet for me. I popped it into the fridge for a bit as well and it tasted even better cold

Grease pooling in the bag!
Kailey C.

Came for the breakfast sandwich, never coming back because of it! Wildly greasy, oil literally dripped all down my arm anytime I took a bite, and soaked all the napkins and pooled in a corner of the bag. The sausage had large chunks of gristle in it. The egg was overcooked. The English muffins were far larger than the sausage patty or egg. See photos!

Here for a.l conference and stopped in for a quick breakfast with a colleague. I had a latte with hazelnut and biscuits and gravy. It was a bit pricey. I eill say the portion of biscuits and gravy could be shared if you're not for used on being stuffed. The coffee was potent but I could not taste the hazelnut (which was an uncharted). The gravy was rich and had a decent amount of sausage. The baked is rustic and very cute. In the morning you can sit on the pizza restaurant side to enjoy your order, otherwise, youd have to take it to go. Staff was kind and willing to answer questions.

The croissant was on the crispier side, especially with the almond crumble on top it was a bit too cripsy for me, but I tend to like soft and flakey pastries so it's probably a matter of taste. There was a TON of almond filling in the middle. I enjoyed the taste and texture but it was too much filling for me personally. I would have liked more croissant in my croissant, so to say haha. The chocolate was slightly dark which worked well with the sweet pastry and filling! Overall I enjoyed the croissant but it was a tad too heavy on the filling and cripsy/crunchy for me.

We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. I've been hesitant to visit Sea Wolf Bakers due to their prices. $8 baguette? Oomph. Well, in early…read moreMarch I finally decided to give them a try. And now I'm a regular... Through several visits: Baguette, Large ($7.95) - Great baguette with bubbling golden exterior complete with the perfectly baked crust even after waiting 3 hours before cutting in and eating. The interior has the perfect moisture level and is delightfully soft and chewy. The taste overall has a deep developed flavor. This is a great baguette. The only problem - the price. I can find ones for half the price that are maybe 80% as good as this one. (5/5) Seasonal Biscuit ($4.50) - This biscuit definitely isn't Southern-style. It's more of a drop biscuit, combining a relatively soft and tender interior with a nice exterior crust, without any flakiness or layering. The interior is almost cake-like in texture and crumb, and is plenty moist. They add plenty of fresh black pepper inside. It's distributed very evenly, giving a peppery bite with every mouthful. Parmesan is added to the top of the biscuit before baking, giving plenty of umami and richness but only on the upper layer. (4/5) Green Vinaigrette Cafeteria Style Pizza ($6.25) - The pizza is kept under a warming lamp, so it starts getting a little dried out after I assume a couple of hours spent there. I do love the base though - it's focaccia-like giving a really crunchy dark golden brown crust underneath, which supports the toppings. The pizza slice has lots of structural integrity and doesn't flop over. There's a base of fragrant concentrated tomato paste-like flavor which is topped with a very even layer of cheese. Since it's warmed rather than freshly baked, the cheese starts congealing a bit. The cheese is peppered with parsley, garlic, and a bunch of mustard seeds, giving a special zing. The toppings go all the way to the sides of the pie, making it great for people who dislike crust. Even though it's cafeteria style pizza that's kept under heat lamps, I quite liked it. I wonder if I can get a really fresh slice if I get there right at 11AM when lunch starts. (5/5) Chocolate Croissant ($6.10) - Great lamination with a very aesthetic honeycomb pattern. Baked on the harder side, causing fantastic crispy flaky layers to flake off, but also creating a darker golden brown character that is on the verge of bitterness. Nicely buttery soft and chewy interior. Chocolate is a darker variety, probably somewhere around 70%, so it has a pleasing balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor. It's not typical baton, instead seems to be a section from a bar. Still warm and melty even through I didn't eat the croissant until ~30 minutes after purchasing. When cooled down further, some red fruity notes start appearing, so this seems to be be pretty high quality. (5/5) White Sourdough ($12.60) - Now this is a loaf of bread. Superb crust, probably 2 or 3 times as thick compared to competitors, creating a supreme crusty bite with a chew approaching a hard crunch with almost caramelized molasses notes on the bottom. The interior is moist and tender with a pleasing slight sourdough tang. It's a superb piece of craftsmanship. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.80) - This is another heavier bake with some acridity development on the top surface. Unlike many other bakeries where the kouign amann is basically a differently shaped croissant with sugar glaze, Sea Wolf's version feels more in line with tradition. The crumb is denser and richer, more like brioche. There's interesting black speckling inside which I believe is due to the inclusion of espresso powder given the mild coffee-like flavor. The crust is again baked hard, but it's lighter and not as flaky as the croissant. They sprinkle just a bit of salt on top of a very light caramelized sugar glaze. It's not very sweet and I didn't find it too salty unlike some other reviewers. (5/5) Plain Focaccia Slice ($4.80) - Good quality olive oil, some salt sprinkled on top to boost the flavors. Light and airy interior, but the exterior is a little wan, being more light golden brown and lacking some good crusty crisp especially on the fried bottom. Quite oily. (4/5) Sea Wolf gives out free sourdough starter, which can be requested from the cashier. Since picking it up several weeks ago, I've gone through several feed/bake cycles for making sourdough focaccia. I've visited Sea Wolf 3 or 4 times in the last month. That's a testament to how high quality their pastries and breads are. I think the only thing stopping me from visiting more is thanks to the starter I got from them fanning my baking instincts. I bake so much now that I don't have any need to buy their bread! Note: Sea Wolf charges a 3% credit card fee. This is not noted on their menu - it only appears in the POS right before paying. Kind of sketchy. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

I will note that I haven't tried the breads, but as a non-morning individual, I do appreciate that they do tend to still have many items available even later in the afternoon (~1-3PM time frame). You will have to find street parking, but I've never had too much trouble in this neighborhood even on the weekend. Butter Croissant (3.75/5): I'll admit I'm insanely picky with my croissants and I think Sea Wolf's is just okay. I want a stronger crisp on the outside, something that almost shatters and makes a mess when you bite in, but the inside has a nice chew. Kouign Amann (3.75/5): I had a really fantastic time with this my first time picking it up, they have almost a crunchy sugar caramel crust on the outside with super buttery pastry inside. Unfortunately, my second time picking this up ended up being a miss, just stale and much to dry. Cinnamon Roll (1/5): The raisins are a nice touch, but this was awfully dry. Even the caramelized crus on the outside couldn't save this and charging extra for cream cheese frosting on top of a dry dough is criminal.
