Located just a 5 minute walk away from the Pioneer Square light rail station, this small French cafe serves some seriously good pastries. They use high quality ingredients (Isigny Ste Mere butter, Valrhona chocolate, etc). It's something that really comes through in the final product. Cinnamon Cruffin ($6.50) - I'm not sure I would call this a cruffin since there's not really any laminated layers on the interior. It's more like monkey bread, with a richer brioche interior interspersed with ribbons of cinnamon, then dusted with cinnamon sugar on the outside. There are some crispy caramelized sugar bits on top which I found to be fun to bite into. (4/5) Casse-Noisette ($6.50) - The lamination on this croissant looks quite nice, but the interior isn't particularly buttery and the layers are quite delicate. It's filled with a hazelnut-dark chocolate spread which is sticky, messy and rich. I believe it's a homemade spread rather than nutella due to the richer taste and darker color. The exterior of the croissant is soft instead of crusty and shattering, probably since we didn't eat this until the end of the day. They sprinkle crunchy pearl sugar and crushed hazelnut on top, adding some additional pleasing texture. (5/5) Savory Tartelette ($6.50) - This tart is filled with tangy and funky goat cheese, sweet and soft caramelized onion, a drizzle of honey, and a small zing of rosemary, on a super buttery and crisp base. The croissant base tastes by far the most buttery as compared to both the Almond and Hazelnut croissants. (5/5) Almond Croissant ($6.50) - I believe this is a double baked croissant given the dark brown bake. As with the casse-noisette, this croissant has been softened by the Seattle spring humidity and unfortunately no longer remains particularly crisp. The croissant is cut in half and filled with a sweet almond frangipane. I believe it's made in house - it's more sugary than almond, and the texture is quite a bit less viscous than most almond croissants. The frangipane compresses the croissant layers into thicker slabs, and this creates a chewy texture that almost reminds me of egg in texture. (4/5) Kouign-Amann ($6.50) - Finally another proper Kouign-Amann! This one has enriched more brioche-like laminated dough rather than plain croissant dough like a lot of other bakeries use. This makes the pastry so much richer and decadent. The interior here has a certain flavor that's totally different from the dough in the casse-noisette and in the tart. I feel like there's a unique funk that might be from cultured butter. The pastry is still quite flaky, with layers that easily come apart, and there's still a bit of a crunch from the sugar glazed over the surface. I especially love the center, where towards in the interior, there's an almost sweet custard-like center, and the center top, where there's a sand-like mound of almost-melted sugar. (5/5) Marbre ZigZag ($5.99) - Really moist and dense marble cake, deceptively heavy for the size. There's a thick layer of dark chocolate ganache covering the cake layer, making the slice exceptionally rich. (5/5) La Baguette MBO ($3.95) - This is an oddly shaped baguette, curved instead of flat, and very uneven in width. The shape was strange enough I thought the baguette would not be good. Cutting it open with a bread knife, the interior crumb seems a little tight, missing some of the more open holes of a well risen baguette. The taste and crustiness, however, are excellent. The flavor is very well developed and there's a hard baked crust that gives a fantastic baguette crisp. It's not perfect, but for $4, which is less than baguettes cost at most places in Seattle, this is a great deal. (5/5) Mirabelle by Orphée is another excellent Seattle bakery! Honestly I haven't had a baguette sandwich this good since I was in Paris last! I'm so obsessed with how fresh and flavourful the authentic dishes are here. I ordered The Parisien "Cochon" which was absolutely delicious! I just wish the bread wasn't so hard, I needed to take several breaks to rest my jaw. My sister loved her latte. She adored the flavour of the sweet vanilla and that the oat milk had a high quality taste with a creamy texture. I agree that the drinks are perfect, my medium oat milk mocha was perfect with a delectably rich profile. My only qualm is the cleanliness! There aren't very many tables that seat more than two, so my mom, sister, and I had to push together two tables that were absolutely filthy. One was covered in croissant flakes and the table was covered in crumbs and the floor was dirty. Overall it just ruined the entire aesthetic and atmosphere that the place wasn't clean at all. I am so glad I came here for breakfast on my solo trip to Seattle this past weekend. Though it was a Saturday morning (10am), the line was surprisingly short with only 2 parties ahead of me. You enter the café and order first, so make sure you browse through the menus they have on the right counter to get a better idea of what you'd like. As I was waiting in line, I saw them restocking their baguettes and it took everything within me to not buy one just to try! All the pastries by the front look amazing, but knowing I had the underground tour (which is RIGHT next door) after breakfast, I couldn't necessarily order with just my eyes. I eventually opted with their seasonal mademoiselle yuzu sweet treat and Mr. Breakfast 2.0. I added avocado with the house-made brioche bun and the size was so petite yet perfect for 1 serving! The yuzu treat was FANTASTIC and has this citrusy cream and meringue that's to die for. To get a caffeine fix, I ordered a regular latte with oatmilk--not sweet at all but did the job to get something warm in me on a chilly day! There are about 10 small tables you can dine inside for, but it's a bit difficult to snag one since they fill up quick! All I can say is wow. This is a must try place in Seattle. I heard a lot about this place via Instagram so decided to give it a try. I went here twice before able to give a fair rating. This is a small shop in pioneer square. They have a few seatings but it's also small so not good for big groups. Parking is street if you can find them. The owner of the shop is the person taking your order and he very nice and has a strong French accent :) Food wise: Croque monsieur 5/5 it doesn't feel heavy and feels clean and healthy. Love the flavor on this and the texture is amazing. Get it with egg! Terrine 4/5 -- this is for the adventurous eater. This is similar to the vietnamese pate but the flavor is a lot stronger. It comes with a side of butter and some bread. I didn't care for the bread as much. The combo of butter and pate was delicious. I actually spread it on the croissant that I had and wow, soooo good. Hot chocolate 3/5 -- pretty standard Regular croissant 4.5/5 -- feels soft but actually flaky, needs a little more butter flavor though. Kouig aman 4.5/5 -- love the layers, needs a little more sugar. Texture was perfect Cinnamon cruffin 4.5/5 -- almost like a pull apart bread but still have layers, flavor was good. Hazelnut croissant / apple turnover (oui oui) / beignet 4/5 --- really good flavor, soft and light. Carre verdome 10/5 --- one of the best cakes I had in a really long time. I love the crunch, the soft silky texture and rich chocolate flavor. Price was also very reasonable which kind of surprise me given how everything is inflated these days. This place is super cute! Definitely reminds me of the cafes in France. I finally got the chance to try it after hearing about it for a while, and came on a slightly rainy weekend. The staff were all super sweet and friendly, and they have a great selection of baked goods and other items as well. I ended up getting a classic croissant, since that's what I tend to always get when trying a new spot. Theirs was gigantic and was so reasonably priced - you won't really find this elsewhere in Seattle! I do wish they warmed it up for you, but nonetheless it was still pretty good. I will say for the texture, this croissant won't blow you away as it leans on the softer side overall (rather than the crispy flaky layers). However, for flavor this one is absolutely delicious - the buttery-ness of this one is outstanding, and the flavor is so so good. My friend also got the canele which I took a bite out of, and it was fantastic. I've never had a canele before but this one definitely stood out - it was the perfect crispy exterior with a soft and chewy and flavorful middle. Highly recommend getting that! I'm not someone who enjoys waiting in line -- I usually stick to places that take reservations -- but this spot doesn't take any, so I just had to go for it. All the pastries looked amazing, but we wanted something more filling, so we ordered the croque‑monsieur and the quiche Lorraine. Both were delicious -- the quiche was soft, creamy, and savory, and the croque‑monsieur had that perfect ham‑and‑cheese comfort. And the mimosa here was surprisingly great. Even the side salad was fresh. Finding a seat is the tricky part. You basically have to scan for tables while ordering. It was already busy at 8am, and when we arrived around 9:30, the place was packed and we waited in line to order. Funny enough, it seemed quieter around 10:30 before it got busy again. Their pastries are phenomenal. I love the combination of crispiness and softness of their croissants. The cherry flavor is made with really fruit and not overly sweet at all. Pair it with any of their drinks make a great treat of the day.  Almost all the ingredients they use are from France. The ingredients are all of high quality, and you won't find this level of quality at such a low price anywhere else.. Usually gluten makes me feel uncomfortable but I DIDN'T experience any discomfort with Mirabelle's pastries!! As a croissant lover, I had to try this place after seeing the glowing reviews. We came here around Saturday at 10 AM and the line wasn't bad, but it started to get very crowded a bit later on. First, the ambience is very cute and chic, and the plates are so beautiful. I recommend eating there although there are only about 4-5 tables for indoor seating. We ordered the baguette with butter, many pastries, and a yuzu tart: Baguette with butter and jam - this was one of the most moist baguettes I've had. I personally don't usually like baguettes but this was my favorite thing here! Mademoiselle yuzu - this is a yuzu tart with meringue at the top. Tart and sweet, this was quite refreshing Plain croissant, kouign amann - sadly, these were misses for me. Not flaky and buttery enough. I'm used to the super flaky kinds I've had in SF. Kouign amann felt a bit stale. Maybe the SF ones aren't as authentic French but then so be it, that's just my preference. Casse noisette - this is a croissant with a lot of hazelnut chocolate cream inside. I liked the bits of hazelnut toppings but the pastry itself was again not flaky/buttery enough for me, and the chocolate filling was a bit too overpowering and sweet. But this place is worth the journey to Pioneer Square. Apparently it gets very busy at lunch but it was not when I went around 2pm. Usually the pastries are the ones on display while the made-to-order lunch dishes are available consistently. I originally wanted to get the regular Parisian croissant but due to popularity, they sold out before noon. So I opted to get the other croissant that they made thereafter - chocolate almond cherry croissant which is a bit more loaded and decadent than the original for sure. $6 for one is a bit steep but the croissant was large and filling. It's like half a meal for me. The first bite was divine - buttery and crunchy and flaky. The inside filling is decent though it did take away this crunchiness. But I'd say I got to experience the best of both worlds - nice chocolate and almond paste inside, with their signature croissant texture on the outside. read more

There were whole cherry pieces inside the croissant too, distribution could have been a smidge better. The only caveat is that some of the almonds on top were a bit burnt. I was not able to be at the grand opening on 3/20/25, but made sure to visit first thing last Sunday 3/23/25. Pro tip: free parking (on Sundays) right out front and the area near the pergola was tranquil. I loved all the details about the shop - the exterior, welcoming vibe and service, the interior full of natural light and seating, fresh flowers and foliage, the retail displays, and especially the enticing pastry case showcasing the quality baked goods: boulangerie (breads), viennoiserie (all the lovely laminated dough pastries), and the patisserie (saw assorted tarts and macarons) that morning. And that particular scent that literally transported me back to my last visit 25 years ago on a baking scholarship in Paris and Aurillac, France. The overhead contemporary music and the conversations onsite were in French. Sigh, such nostalgia for me. I ordered a Croque Monsieur ($14.99) which came with a nicely dressed salad, a croissant ($3.95), and a pain au chocolat ($4.50). The croque monsieur made me wistful for the shuttered Cafe Presse and rivaled the one at Bar Bayonne. The pain au chocolat was on point and I took the croissant home. Surprisingly, despite being stored ambient for a week in a tightly sealed container, another family member did not eat the croissant. So I ate half this morning and it remained superb! Speaks volumes about the ingredients and care executed with its initial preparation. Definitely recommended while in Pioneer Square and the downtown Seattle vicinity! read more

The location and décor fit the neighborhood perfectly, and as someone who lives in the area, the convenience alone makes it a go-to. The space has that cozy vibe that feels just right for a slow morning or an easy lunch and you can tell there's real care behind the food. Where they fall short is the customer service. Not the speed; the food comes out on time, but the friendliness and the basic welcome when you walk in. Especially for a new place in the neighborhood. They do get a lot of tourists, but even when the café isn't busy, the greeting can feel a little flat or nonexistent. It doesn't ruin the experience, but it does keep the place from being the warm neighborhood staple it could be. Overall, still a great spot with amazing food and a lovely atmosphere. Wonderful French bakery, with authentic flavors in their patisserie. The couple of times I have been here, I always gravitate towards the basic chocolate croissant or plain croissant. You can taste the difference in the butter and ingredients used. The French butter (or at least what I taste in French bakeries like French Guys in Cap Hill) tastes slightly more flavorful and cultured, imparting an almost mild fermented flavor that is wonderful. Along with a texture that is not too crunchy and deliciously layered and fluffy, this is definitely one of the top croissants in Seattle. It was a culinary masterpiece. The tart was absolutely creamy and indulgent. I couldn't ask for a better dessert. Classic. The espresso was nice and strong. The piece de resistance, however, was a Croque Monsieur. Very smooth and creamy bechamel sauce and gruyère cheese. Delicious ham. Light and refreshing salad. Very filling. The presentation from the server was spot on. They make you feel like you're in a a cafe in Paris. I've never been to France. Not at all. But should you ever bribe me into visiting with all expenses paid, I might hear you out. Was it busy in there? Absolutely! There are people in the cafe. Conversations were going on. I didn't really budge in. Not my style. So noise is pretty give or take. In my case, the food quality and presentation won me over. Loved the fruit tart! The croissants are excellent and not too sweet. I managed to get the last raspberry tart and they came out with the blackberry tarts an hour later. There's a big table and a few two seated tables and bar seating. read more

Wonderful little place in the middle of Pioneer Square! Everything was fresh and delicious, probably the most authentic pastries I've had on the West Coast. I would recommend the Cruffins and the sweet onion and goat cheese tart. Very welcoming staff and spotlessly clean dining and kitchen area. I can't help but wonder if being an incredibly cute young man is a job requirement here. Okay fine I'll talk about the food. I don't think I have ever had a better quiche in my life. Absolutely beautiful little cafe right in the heart of the city. The employee I interacted with was so kind, genuine, and helpful--it was so apparent how much they care about their customers here! Not to mention, the coffee and pastries were incredible. I'm normally not much of a viennoiserie person but the kouign-amann was genuinely one of the BEST pastries I have ever had.
