I ended up swinging by on a rainy Saturday to a surprisingly empty Pike's around 11AM and found Pufftown not only open, but well stocked with all their options. They do have a rotating menu, so their sweet and savory options will change based on when you go. Butter Croissant had a super nice light crisp on the outside and a fantastic buttery but light chewy center. Not too sweet and texturally, probably one of the best in Seattle (blows Seattle Wolf out of the water for sure). Pistachio Croissant was filled with a lovely pistachio cream, but because they are pre-filled, the pastry sogged up just a bit so it lost some of the lovely crisp and contrast in texture. read more

It's bakeries like this one that make me wish that Cali's bakery game was as strong as Seattle's, cuz, man, I'm always mind-blown about the pastries here in the city whenever visiting loool. - Pain au chocolat: what the youngins say these days....."~nO NoTEs~." Amazing lamination. Crispy exterior (but not so crispy that it makes a huge mess), pillow-soft interior. Not greasy!! Good balance of richness and bitterness in the chocolate batons. - Tamale (veg): cute rendition of a tamale lol it's like a croissant-y cousin of a traditional tamale. Pretty tasty though as a nitpick the black beans could've been cooked slightly longer to be more soft. - Blood orange cinna-twist: wished the blood orange glaze was a tad thinner (a little too sweet for me) but the center was as delectably soft and cinnamon-y as that of a cinnamon roll. - Hot drip coffee: pretty smooth drip thanks to Stamp Act roastery! Their menu here is solely croissants and some other pastries, and when I got here with a friend at 11:30am they were sold out of all but one thing: their bread with a matcha filling and blueberry jam on top, and they only had one left! Talk about luck. From talking with the servers - who were very kind and welcoming - it's best to get here before 9am when everything usually sells out. They open at 6am, so they must be really good. There's no seating or restrooms specifically for this area. I ended up getting that last chunk of bread and split it with a friend, and this was one of the best things I've had in a long while! Bread was a little hard to pull apart but the inside was soft and tender, with the matcha paste adding more to the softness. The blueberry jam drizzled on top added a sweeter kick to the bread and made it all the more delicious. That golden brown crisp on the top and one side of the bread felt so good to bite into, and it's buttery, flaky and crispy overall. This slab of bread is pretty hefty in price, going at a little over $12 after tax. When I come back here, it'll probably be during a convention when I know I have to come really early to even get a glimpse of their sold-out croissants. read more

I picked up the spread from Pufftown since they offer a large variety, including a mix of classics, savory, and dessert flavors. Overall, I was pretty unimpressed--especially for the price point. - The Classics: The plain, chocolate, and ham and cheese were technically fine and well-made, but the flavor or texture didn't stand out compared to other places. - Speciality Options: Pufftown gets creative, but most of it didn't land for me. Flavors like the Chicken Miso, Mushroom Miso, Tamale, and Dark Chocolate Pomegranate ranged from unappetizing to oozing with cream which was really unbalanced. The Pistachio Tree Cone tasted better that might be because all the cream fell to the bottom so the top bites were more balanced. - Tarty Options: I liked the Apple Crumble and the Strawberry Cream (a plain croissant filled with cream and fresh berries) a bit more than the rest. I think that's mostly because the tartness helped cut through the sweetness, but even then, they weren't must-haves for me. Trying the different croissant variations was a fun experiment. If I ended up back here, I'd probably just stick to the classics and play it safe, but I wouldn't go out of my way for them. read more

My rating of this place definitely have lowered after my recent trip. But I'm keeping it at 4 for now just because I think it's just personal preferences. I came here during my trip to Seattle and was just going to look to see what they have. And of course my eyes was hungry so I decided to get the apple crumble croissant and the miso chicken croissant. I was sticker shock when I saw my total. It was a whopping $23 for those two pastries! I never paid more than $10 for a pastry so it was definitely a surprise. Both pastries was good though. The apple crumble has this cream on top that was very addicting and there's apple chunks in the croissant. The miso chicken was hearty and you can easily have it as a meal replacement. But $23 dollars good??? I don't think so. The people here are super friendly and nice though. And it's a small place like many other business in Pikes. I was pleasantly surprised by their butter croissant - great texture and layers! We also got some seasonal croissants like the tomato croissant, strawberry cream croissant, peach croissant, and carbonara croissant. My friend and I stopped by this stall in the morning while wandering Pike Place, and thankfully there was no line. I love the cute sign with their fall croissant offerings! We arrived around 10, just as their focaccia became available. We ordered the pom chocolate croissant, miso chicken croissant, and pumpkin focaccia. Service was very friendly and quick, but where they really went the extra mile was when when we, in our excitement, left as they were heating up our miso chicken croissant. Upon realizing and racing back to Pufftown 30 minutes later, they not only remembered us, they had kept our pastry warm for us! They handled it amazingly, kudos to them! The pastries are absolutely incredible, and I love that their menu is seasonal. The pumpkin focaccia was THICC, there was really good rise in the dough and it showed through how fluffy and chewy the bread was. We had seen cream cheese swirls on top but realized that the swirls were actually pumped into the bread. The cream cheese was sweet and paired perfectly with the slightly savory bread. I actually could not stop eating it. The Pom chocolate croissant may have been the best chocolate croissant I have ever had. The filling was plentiful and the chocolate was rich, pairing perfectly with the slightly tart, floral tang of the pomegranate sauce. The croissant itself was light and not too greasy either. We saved the miso chicken pastry for the following day, and it stayed fresh, buttery, and flaky after being reheated in the air fryer. The chicken was plentiful, tender, and well-flavored. It was almost like a very elevated croissant pinwheel with chicken filling. I am so happy I saw Pufftown on IG, and want to try more items as their menu changes!! read more

This place is known specifically for their croissant pastries and they only make croissants, so you would know that they do them well. I went here on a Thursday morning just before 9am and there was still all the options available. There was no line and so I was not pressured to rush my decisions in choosing what I want. I ended up getting the turkey swiss & spinach ($8) and the French flan ($9). The croissants are indeed super buttery, flaky, and crispy, so they definitely do them well here. However, the croissants are fairly small for the price tag, so it gets really steep if you want multiple. Just 2 for a decent breakfast set me back almost $20 after tax. I liked the turkey swiss & spinach more since I prefer savory and there is a nice warm egg inside. The French flan was a fan favorite but the way they make the crust makes it more tough than crispy, though it is necessary to make it not soggy from the flan. They just opened six months ago as their own brick and mortar but used to prepare the croissants for The Four Seasons, etc. They have different flavors each day but we got a chance to try the spicy goat cheese with asparagus croissant as well as the apricot cardamom, and the almondine. My friend who ate the almondine said it was the best she had had yet. She loved the center layer. My son who had the apricot cardamom loved the size and texture of the apricot and said he wouldn't have mind it a little more cardamom. The spicy goat cheese and asparagus was extremely good and satisfying especially how tender the asparagus was. As someone who prefers savory over sweet this was so satisfying. The customer service was warm and welcoming, answering questions for customers who were new. They run out pretty quickly, so come early. It's worth the line. Flaky, buttery, delicious. Various things aligned with my first visit to Pufftown Bakehouse (1/23/25): traffic, street parking, site location, and product availability. The Pufftown Bakehouse owners, Serena and Daniel, had been successful with their wholesale accounts that they decided to open a walk-up location at Pike Place Market. They are located between Turkish Delight and Kitchen & Market. Very welcoming and personable owners. Love the pastry case and well appointed production area that can be viewed while at the walk up counter. I admire laminated baked goods. The foundation ones here are technically sound, beautiful layers, airy honeycomb interior, and buttery flavor with minimal shattered shards. A lot of attention to detail and freshness are immediately evident. My selections were still warm when purchased. They were decent also when eaten a day later. *Butter Croissant ($3.50) was purchased for The Homie. However, I did slice it to observe the amazing interior. *Pain au Chocolat ($4), also known as chocolate croissant, chocolate cornetto, or chocolatine is my usual go to. I enjoyed it with the two batons baked within. *Bacon, Egg, Cheddar Croissant ($7) was a tasty savory choice. I prefer the versions from Breadfarm in Edison and Saboteur Bakery in Bremerton though. Baked goods menu is seasonal. The Winter menu runs until March. The basics are spot on and enjoy seeing some innovative ones too. The Spiced Hot Cocoa croissant was already sold out during my visit. Lovely couple at the helm. Gave me reminiscent vibes from two OG shuttered faves, Cafe Besalu and Celine Patisserie. Items were nicely packaged. Enjoyed the whimsical design. Merch can also be purchased with the similar logo. I was fortunate to visit on a weekday late morning. No crazy crowds at Pike Place Market. I can only imagine how it'll be in the forthcoming months. For their product quality, I am amazed at their low prices, especially with the increased cost of ingredients like eggs, butter, and chocolate. Have been following Serena and Daniel's journey for the past few years was glad when I heard they opened up a spot in Pike Place Market just down from Hellenika. Now I can buy their delicious pastries directly from them!! Their laminated bakes are some of the best in town. The week I went there was a Potato Gratin special. I picked up some treats to share with friends. Two of the potato, bacon egg & cheese, Pistachio Winter tree and lemon meringue cruffin. My only regret is I didn't get to try the Lemon and Pistachio. Came in around 9:40 and most items were gone so rec coming in earlier than that if you wanted some more options. The people were friendly and the croissant was actually phenomenal. I love a classic butter croissant and they really nailed it. The potato gratin also had a good texture and base. I wasn't a fan of the big potato tower. I think I'd prefer if it was more spread out, but that's a personal preference. The butter croissant after tax was 3.86 and the potato 7.72. I would for sure come back regularly for that butter croissant, but didn't feel like the potato gratin was worth the price. Overall would recommend checking out! Pufftown Bakehouse. When I first heard about this bakery, I thought it was a weed and/or smoke shop given the name. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a new bakery pumping out some excellent looking croissants and pastries. Pufftown closes pretty early at noon and seem to sell out pretty quickly. When I arrived at around 10:30 AM on a Thursday, they only had the butter croissants and focaccia left in stock. I wish I had gotten there a little earlier for a better selection, but there's always next time! I don't usually mention service in my reviews, but I have to say the owners are very nice and provide stellar service, especially for Seattle. They took a warm croissant fresh out of the oven for me. Unfortunately I couldn't eat it just then due to my plans for an early lunch, but that was certainly a nice gesture. Butter Croissant ($3.50) - This croissant is very attractive with a striated egg washed exterior. It's very light and airy and has good lamination but exhibits some larger pockets towards the center of the croissant (perfect to fit in a chocolate baton!). There's a fantastic bake on the croissant, giving a golden brown crisp and flaky exterior, but not baked too much until the exterior becomes hard. My teeth just sink into the interior, so light and tender, yet when compressed, gives a good level of chew just from the layers squeezing together. It has a great light butter taste. This is the best croissant I've eaten since moving to Seattle a couple of months ago. (5/5) Jalapeno Cheddar Focaccia ($8) - This is a much larger piece than most other bakeries give - probably 50% bigger. The crumb is chewy with nice air pockets throughout. The bottom has a good crisp on the sides, but gets softer towards the middle. The bake time might be a bit less than required for a maximally pleasant crisp because the center looks a bit more wan than usual. There's the oily foccacia baked taste on the edges. Overall a good focaccia that I would gladly get again. (4.5/5) I have to say - that croissant is a killer deal at $3.50 for such a high quality croissant. Most other places in Seattle charge $5-6 for a similar one. And Pufftown is in Pike Place too! I don't know how they do it. I'm really impressed with the croissants Pufftown Bakehouse makes. Let's start by saying, no disappointment here, It's crisp as your teeth break into it, then the soft "puffy" bits inside start to make you regret not coming here before, then in this case, the filling, is like the happy surprise that fills your insides with joy and love. The people running the shop (as assume are the owners) are awesome and friendly, and it feels like a passion project that evolved because enough people said.. go for it, and the result is wonderful, worthy of praise, and revenue-generating. A new bakery in Pike Place Market. A review in The Stranger prompted me to check it out. And boy, am I glad I did! Absolutely darling shop, sparkling clean and perfect display case. The owners are enthusiastic and chirpy - a delight to converse with. But the croissants. Oh my. Insanely flaky and crunchy exterior with beautiful airy chambers inside. These rival any French bakery I've visited. World-wide. Perfectly executed potato galette - a creamy little nugget of goodness on top of the puff pastry bed. Delightful. The hot chocolate croissant was unbelievably good. A chocolate dough - not just the typical butter! This is difficult to execute but this was perfect. The chocolate mousse filling was just the right ratio to pastry amd thé ganache topping was a buttery delight. Yes. I ate both of these. How could I resist?! Finally made it to Pike Place early enough to try this place. I got a savory and sweet pastry and they were amazing. I don't know how busy it is but I'd go early to make sure you get what you're interested in. I wouldn't dare park out front but the garage is a nice way to get to the market. Highly recommend this new delicious bakery at the North end of Pike Place Market- on Western near Virginia. I ordered several plain croissants , as well as a twice baked almond and spiced mexican chocolate croissant. I was also hoping to try the pistachio winter tree, but unfortunately it was already sold out by 9:40 on a Wednesday morning. Next time hopefully. Pufftown's plain croissants are crispy and flaky, like a croissant should be, and also have good flavor. The Mexican spiced chocolate was for sure a family favorite. We loved the mild Mexican chocolate mousse it was topped with, which was super creamy and luckily not too sweet (unfortunately the pretty design didn't survive its car ride in the bag, but still tasted amazing), and their twice baked almond was also delicious. Pufftown's owners are truly so nice and welcoming and I'm so happy for them with their new shop. Go check them out. Best to go early in the day before they sell out. The owners are there every day running the shop with their small staff. They sell out almost daily, so get in quick. So glad we went when we did because they're closed on Sunday's and Mondays. We went Saturday morning. I ordered the boysenberry cheesecake pastry and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had just the right amount of sweet and savory. And it definitely hit the spot early in the morning. I also had the tomato and mozzarella one. That one was also yummy, but I will definitely say I was partial to the boysenberry cheesecake one. I am also not one for sweets. We were very excited to try out Pufftown Bakehouse based on reviews, but unfortunately, we were pretty unhappy with the service. When my husband asked for a pain au chocolat just based off of reading the menu, the gentleman working rudely told him that they were only serving the pastries that were displayed in the glass. It would have been fine if he just told us that they were out or not surviving it that morning, but he talked to us as if we were dumb for not knowing the menu. Loved getting to check out this new bakery and meet the owners during their trial run! Everything is baked and sold in-shop by Serena and Daniel who were the sweetest. They're planning on rotating the menu with the seasons, so you have until February 2025 to try the special flavors! Also, the store itself is tiny (but very cute) and take-out only, so plan on sitting by the water or similar. I got the spiced hot chocolate croissant (which I ripped into before taking a pic.) This was chocolate croissant dough with a generous amount of Mexican hot chocolate-inspired filling and was sweet without being too sweet! Felt very balanced. The croissant itself was flaky, layered, and about everything you'd want from a croissant. so happy i tried out these croissants!! i've heard a lot about the pistachio tree croissant and had to try it. the croissant itself is so flakey and has so many layers to it! i loved the pistachio cream as well, it had good flavor and wasn't too sweet. i also tried the pain au chocolat which was delicious! it was warm and the chocolate was gooey. again it was laminated super well and it was so flakey and crispy. the owners are so so sweet and i will definitely be back to try their other flavors !! read more
