chocolate almond croissant
Jailene C.

We spent about $24 or so on 4 croissants, 2 regular 2 flavored and a malasada. The croissants were really flakey and really good, very fresh. The ham and cheese croissant wasn't our favorite, didn't really have much ham in it and it's definitely small, but the chocolate almond croissant was delicious, just small compared to the pricing for sure. The strawberry malasada was alright, the filling tasted artificial so I wouldn't go that route again. Service was quick and friendly.

Ube malasada

I was craving something quick and sweet after my late lunch and Fuji bakery hit the spot! They serve donuts in a no-frills to-go window counter. I picked up the ube malasada. It had a light crunch from the sugar coating, fluffy texture, with a creamy subtly ube filling. I think the broche in the donut was a tad dry, but I did get it around 4pm. I also would've preferred a stronger ube flavor. Overall, the service was quick and friendly with tasty donuts. I wouldn't get this exact donut again as I found it pricey for the quality I got, but it was worth a try!

If you guys work in the area near Chinatown this is one of the few places that opens early and has been around for quite awhile. They don't have any seating it's more of a front store and you order to go. I got the hojicha latte added a shot to it. Overall everything was good and wanted to try their egg sandwich and it was good bread was a little dry but the center was just amazing. I finish that in like two seconds and they always have good pastries. We usually stop by here to bring baked goods to work.

Cute Bakery in the corner of Chinatown. It's a to go only spot with no seating but plenty of delicious pastries. It's a quick order and get your stuff and go. The staff is kind and welcoming and the food is delicious. So far all the danishes are my favorite I think the blueberry one would be my number one but they are all delicious. The malasada is also pretty good but it would definitely have to be the blueberry Danish that's my number one. The prices is also pretty good for each item not too expensive and you can get a lot of treats under five bucks each.

Crunchy Cream donut

This is a small, hole-in-the-wall bakery tucked on a corner and easy to miss if it weren't for the long morning lines and the tempting display of pastries in the window. We tried the matcha donut and the crunchy cream donut. My friends loved the crunchy cream one for its sweetness and texture, while I preferred the matcha donut as it was less sweet, with a smooth matcha cream filling that was perfectly balanced. Highly recommend trying both here!

Cheap but tasty donuts. I have literally never gotten anything from here that I didn't love from any location. I do with they had a few more vegan or dairy free options but it's definitely worth taking my allergy pills for their pastries. The service is always friendly and efficient. This is a to go window only - no seating or indoor space.

I love this storefront bakery so much, and have been going here for quite a while since the time when the pandemic started to ease in 2022. Back then it was to have some of their lattes which I found pretty good. For this visit, I had one of their malasadas. This was on a Saturday noon, and when I got here there was already quite a long line but it went by quickly. There's no seating at this place; it's all grab and go. Other than malasadas and lattes, they also have cakes, danishes, pain suisse and other pastries, with many people grabbing their olive breads the day I went. I've tried their red bean azuki malasadas before and since I needed a stomach for an event later that day, I got just one lilikoi malasada. It's a passion fruit flavored malasada, and my current picture of it doesn't do it justice at all. It was creamy and wasn't a sour taste in my mouth. There was a good amount of filling inside my donut, and flavor profile wasn't overly strong. There's a ton of sugar on top as expected of malasadas, but this place knows how to make their fillings a little weaker in taste strongness to compensate for that. If you're not into the long lines or overly sweetened malasadas/brioche donuts that The Flour Box has, this is the perfect alternative.

Crunchy Cream Malasada

Cute small bakery that you order with a walk up window. The crunchy cream malasada was sweet and sugary on the outside with a smooth vanilla custard inside. The corn flakes on the outside added a nice texture! Will come back to try other flavors of malasadas for sure.

Today I had the best tasting donut that I've ever had in my 22 years of life. The crunchy cream malasada SLAPS so hard, especially for the price. It is a blessing and a curse that this Fuji store location is so far away from my apartment. My blood sugar is thankful for this unfortunate geographical conundrum. Great service and food on this rainy day! Their grab and go counter service was pretty solid, not sure if they have indoor seating but it seems like based on the website that they do. Long morning lines are there for a reason!

Cheese Danish

Out of this visit, I only ordered the Tiramisu cake and the Cream Cheese Danish. A classic Italian Tiramisu made with mascarpone cheese, espresso shots, Marsala wine, and ladyfinger biscuits tends to be rich and satisfying. While a 7" cake is typically said to serve up to 12 people, it could actually serve a few more. For example, we have 13 people, we still had about 1/4 of the cake left! The richness of the dessert often means that less is needed to satisfy guests, which is always a good thing when you want some leftovers! Cream Cheese Danish was delicious! Better than your Starbucks one. The croissant baked with custard and topped with carmelized cream cheese. A good Tiramisu cake should have a balanced blend of rich coffee flavor, smooth mascarpone cream, and a light, airy texture. The cake layers should be moist but not soggy, with a subtle sweetness and a hint of cocoa or chocolate. And they absolutely nailed it. Overall, the layers were meld together harmoniously, creating a perfect contrast between the bold coffee and creamy filling.

When in doubt, yelp it out. My sister and I were in Seattle for a couple days, and on our last day she wanted to go to a bakery for some quick breakfast pastries! I found this one on here and it is relatively close to other stops we wanted to go to, so we decided to stop by and check it out :) Good thing we did!!! Everything in the window immediately caught our eye, and the sandos were calling our name. The workers were so kind and made sure they had everything in stock, and after our quick purchase, we walked to the park across the street to enjoy our buys. I think the nice Seattle breeze and the reggae playing nearby added to the atmosphere. We sat in the park and nommed on our goods. Our sandos were soooo yummy, and the pastries were delicious. We would definitely try this place again!!! The matcha latte was pre sweetened, but I prefer mine a bit bitter. It was still good tho! Yelp did a good job showing me this place, so thanks. I hope to be back to Seattle soon! #ALPHAZinSeattle #AWOOO #SandosFTW

Varieties of Malasadas
Margaret O.

A friend highly recommended this bakery which is famous for their Malasadas (Hawaiian donuts). The store has different varieties of Malasadas which includes Azuki (Red bean), Lilikoi, Ube, Matcha and Crunchy cream. My favorites are Ube Malasada and Crunchy cream Malasada. The Ube Malasada is a brioche dough filled with housemade Ube custard while the crunchy cream Malasada is made with brioche dough with corn flakes filled with housemade vanilla custard cream. I love its crunchy texture. The Ube and the custard creams in the donuts are not too sweet either. The bakery has also other pastries, cakes and cookies but Malasadas are my favorites.

I finally had a chance to try out Fuji Bakery after walking past in the CID so many times (so much food to try, so little stomach space!). This location is just a small walk up window and they have all their pastries and breads displayed in the window facing 6th Ave. One very slight annoyance I had was that there's no bread menu at the payment counter and instead I had to memorize the buns I wanted to order. Everything else from the line to the ordering goes pretty quickly. Beef Curry ($5.25) - Starting with the exterior, there's a nice chewy fried donut-like exterior studded with plenty of crunchy panko bits. This encapsulates a beef and vegetable curry mixture on the inside. There's not really a discernible texture to the filling - instead, it's almost paste-like in consistency, rather than being a curry that is thick stew as with most other curry pans. The taste is quite nice with a strong salty curry-forward punch with each bite. (5/5) Milk Stick ($3.75) - I thought it would be like a Korean salted butter roll before my purchase, but it turned out to be totally different. The bread is dense and chewy and has a nice sweetness level. It's cut in half and filled with a large slab of buttercream spread. The buttercream is on the softer side and doesn't harden up much, indicating lack of butter content. Still, it's nice to eat. (4/5) Butter Twist ($5.95) - The butter twist doesn't seem to be laminated croissant dough as the description implies. Or if it is laminated, it's not with nearly as many layers as their croissants items. Instead of being flaky, the interior is bready and a little tough, but a bit buttery and chewy. It's well baked with a nice crust on top I especially love the crunchy pearl sugar on top. (4/5) Matcha Cruffin ($5.25) - What the butter twist lacks, the cruffin has in spades. Good lamination, buttery layers, paired with a strong matcha taste from both the hardened shell on top and matcha cream on the inside. The muffin wrapper sticks on the pastry a bit too much and combined with everything else makes this a bit messy to eat. I found the construction to be pretty interesting - the cruffin is rolled into a ball and stuffed into the wrapper instead of being layered in the mold. They don't overpack the dough so there's still enough room for the layers to separate, allowing no dense spots to form in the dough at all. (5/5) I'm very impressed with the pastries I bought from Fuji Bakery. I will be returning to this location and will also try to make a trip to the original Interbay location.

The second time was later in the morning; the pastries were wiped out, and the place was still decently full of coffee drinkers. I ended up visiting the second time because of their very cool merch selection, and I regretted not buying a shirt I liked the first time. I only tried the espresso here, though they had many other tasty-sounding drinks and delicious-looking pastries. The espresso was not bitter, well-balanced, and at a great temperature. They serve it right with sparkling water on the side. Absolutely perfect! Out of all of the coffee spots in Seattle, Anchorhead Coffee is worth the visit for sure!
