Every time I come here, there's a completely new set of baristas. This was my first time visiting this location on a Saturday, and while I understand it gets busy and there are a lot of tourists, that's not an excuse for rude or impatient service. I really miss the previous staff, who were warm, friendly, and made a point to greet each customer who walked in. The two employees working today a man and a woman came across as passive aggressive when handing out drinks, especially if someone didn't hear their drink being called or asked a question. It made the experience feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. As a local, I expect better consistency and customer care. For some reason, you get a much better experience both in service and quality at Victrola on 3rd & Pine in Capitol Hill & Pike. At this point, I don't plan on coming back to this location. read more

First coffee in Seattle. Searched for a spot near where we were staying that might have some sort of "slow bar" option and/or single origin offerings. I was disappointed to hear that a pour over wouldn't be an option at this location. I was happy to hear they gave me their house drip blend in a legit cup vs. paper/plastic. The drip was a medium roast and tasted great. My wife got a cold brew that was also great. Around $11 for the pair, mine was a large, hers a small. Definitely worthwhile for a solid cup of joe, maybe look elsewhere if you are looking for a pour over or something similar. read more

Spacious coffee shop with lots of room to lounge and do work, but I found it a little dirty (crumbs were all over the tables and the bathroom was dirty and also missing paper towels), lacking in presentation (we got there 30 min after it opened and the pastry shelf was mostly empty), and understaffed (only one person was working that morning so it took a while to place our order). As for the coffee, we just ordered a medium latte for $6.70. It was okay but we found it pretty weak in espresso - it barely woke me up. We were told the large latte had the same amount of espresso so good thing we didn't get that. Maybe we will have to get an extra shot of espresso next time or just go somewhere else. read more

The drink was amazing, which I got with Soy Milk. Loved the earthiness of the matcha, floral taste from the earl grey, and creaminess from the milk. My best friend was also a fan! We came across this place only being I needed to use restroom and it's for paying customers only. My Daughternlaw was gonna purchase something to get me the code but being I needed to use bathroom I told her I'd get something for them. I got cookies and and oatmilk, lavender latte for one of my sons and a candy bar. I was shocked by how much I liked this place! There are many Victrola locations around Seattle, but I was meeting up with a friend at this one. The inside is really spacious and has a lot of cozy seating, which makes it a good place to relax and catch up or do some work. I got a small latte with hemp milk, and man that hemp milk they have is absolutely divine. This was my first time trying it and I was shocked by how good it was. It was creamy like oat milk but nutty like soy milk and made the latte so so delicious. I regretted ordering a small immediately after trying it and wish I got a larger size. I will say prices are quite high - this tiny latte cost me around $7 so I think the larger sizes are more worth it relative to what you'd get. Try the hemp milk! read more

I stopped by seattle coffee works on a Monday morning around 10am and the space was half-full. I stayed for about four hours because I had a lot of studying to do!! I loved the natural light of the cafe and there was a steady stream of people with the cafe getting to full capacity during the afternoon. I ordered the 12oz matcha latte ($6.17). I asked for this iced but didn't complain when it was made hot since it was kinda chilly in the morning. I also thought the swan art was soo cute since I haven't seen that before. Taste wise I was really let down because it just tasted like hot milk. I come to this conclusion with most hot drinks which is why I normally get iced, and I really wish I could speak for the other drinks. But as for the matcha, I didn't really taste good flavor at all :( I will say the workers are really kind. They're attentive to customers and know how to handle difficult situations well. There was a homeless man that wandered in and he was told they have a shirt policy but was offered coffee or water. I really respected that! On another note I think it's a decent place to get work done! I had no issues with the wifi and it never got super loud. I will say there's not too many outlets; at one point a customer asked if she could charge her phone at my outlet source and another customer moved a table to reach the outlet also next to my table. I had pretty high expectations for this cafe because of the high reviews and it's prime location. Maybe I need to give it another shot! I was reading the little card on my table and the same owner runs Victrola so there's lots of coffee history there. read more

The vibe of this place was great, however the iced hazelnut latte and hot matcha latte with oat milk were lousy and bad. The iced hazelnut latte tasted acidic. The matcha was grassy, had a strong oat milk taste, and was flavorless all at the same time--it was thrown away after 3 good sips. Went for Beverage Food - 4/5. Mocha had strong chocolate notes with a good coffee aroma. Matcha latte had earthy tones with just enough sweetness to balance out the bitter flavors. Generally the consistency was good, but some of the matcha was clumpy. Service - 2/5. They are friendly and seems to be happy with their job, but service was abysmally slow. Despite not being busy, they seem very disorganized and multiple people besides us were asking about missing items. We had to remind them that we also ordered a matcha and it looked like they just started making it when mentioned. It took way too long to make a few drinks. Value - 3/5. The prices aren't bad with a small matcha latte being $5 and the small mocha $5.70. Flavor was fine, but nothing special. It lacked any history of being "Seattle Coffee Works", despite the signage and the quality was not there. I walked into Victrula and was instantly greeted with a smile from Kim, who has that quintessential Seattle vibe I love. I was having a rough morning, and her smile was contagious, she gave me more than just coffee, she genuinely brightened my day. And the coffee? Hands down better than Starbucks. Kim is down-to-earth, genuine, and actually takes the time to connect in a way you just don't find at the big chains. It's rare to meet someone who makes you feel like more than just another customer in line. This spot has officially made my list of must-frequent places. And if you're visiting Seattle, pop in--you'll be lucky if Kim is the one serving you. read more

I was walking from my hotel to Pike's Place Market and Seattle Coffee Works was on my route. I love local coffee and stopped in for a cappuccino. The casual vibe is nice, and the coffee is decent. As with everything in Seattle, the prices were ridiculously high. My coffee was prepared fast and accurately, but I was disappointed when my coffee "to stay" was served up in a paper cup. I really, really hate when coffee bars do this, as I prefer my espresso in proper ceramic cups with saucers. It's a big pet peeve of mine, and it costs the place two stars. Always put to-go coffees in paper, but NEVER when your customer is going to enjoy their beverage onsite. Maybe it was the particular beans or roast the day I visited, but I wasn't a fan of the espresso. It was hearty and felt almost thick, but the flavor was off-putting. The ratio of foam to coffee wasn't good, and my cappuccino was more like a latte (just no real foam to speak of). There was a heart art on top, which is always lovely, but that should be expected in Seattle because everybody does it. The seating is minimal and uncomfortable, making this an unappealing place to hang out. It's not the type of coffee house where you can set up an office and sit and work all day, it's kind of a quick chat and go variety. There are lots of green plants (both live and artificial) that were oddly soothing, and large picture windows that open so you can enjoy the fresh air on sunny days. The atmosphere is chill and the employees are friendly, I just didn't like the coffee. read more
