I had a half day class course this past Friday and it was at the Theodore! I've heard wonderful things about Made Coffee so decided to give it a try for coffee and breakfast. The staff is super nice and friendly! I think one of them was named Zac and we talked about Cocowhip! He even offered me hot sauce with my breakfast sandwich and apologized that there was no ham, just bacon. He heated my sandwich up and it was perfect with the English muffin. For my drink, I had their chocolate cherub cherry drink -- it was SO good! There's a long table and a couple of seats as well as bar seating by the windows but the lobby into the seating area also has couches and tables to sit. Lovely place! Located on the lobby floor of the Hotel Theodore, this quaint but lovely coffee shop has the breakfast and coffee items you may desire on your way out to explore what Seattle has to offer you. The service is friendly and polite. It's clean, has a small area inside to sit and they even have a walk up window to order from outside the building. This is a cute little coffee shop nestled in the Hotel Theodore. The seating area in the coffee shop itself was limited but cozy, but you were able to sit in the lobby of the Theodore if you needed more space. My drink, the Snickerdude, was so delicious, as was the spinach and cheese bun I ordered! The staff was so friendly and even offered to toast my pastry for me. There's even a walk up window if you're in more of a rush- overall this is definitely a place I'd go back to! read more

This is a nice nook of a coffee shop inside the Theodore hotel. I got an italiano and an espresso. Coffee - 4/5, but bumping to 4.5 since their beans are wood roasted (not every coffee shop sells this!). It's darker and smokier, and tastes fantastic in an italiano! I wanted to talk to the barista more about the beans, but unfortunately she didn't know much about them. Interior - 3.5/5. The space was a little dead and the coffee counter was pretty empty. A small coffee spot located inside Hotel Theodore. Inside has a few seats with an outside order window if simply grabbing a quick drink. We arrived close to 8 AM on a weekday and a single employee was managing everything. The counter had boxes of pastries which were being individually wrapped, although no prices were written. Note that only the 8oz drinks can be in the glass cups. Any larger drinks, such as the 16oz, will be in to-go cups. ----- Caffe Mocha (8oz): $4.50. Such a lovely little shop! They are located inside the Hotel Theodore lobby, though they have a walk-up window from the outside. There is outdoor seating tight to the side of the building, a large dining table inside, and the beautiful hotel lobby for sitting. The style of this place is adorable! They weren't that busy each time I stopped by. I had a delicious latte, though was bummed that they were out of soy milk. There's a long communal table and a few small patio tables inside and outside against the store front. Pricing is similar to Starbucks; Perhaps a little less expensive. Two bucks for a cup of coffee. The staff behind the counter is friendly and polite. If you're staying at the HT, this coffee shop is super convenient. It's located right in front of the two elevators. Probably one of the coolest hotel lobby coffeeshops you'll find. Walking up to the place, the outdoor European bistro chairs lend a cool outdoor relaxing vibe. Chairs aren't too comfy for me, tables are decent but hey it is nice. It calls Hotel Theodore home and blends in nicely to this preserved historical classic with the retro black awnings. The interior is definitely swish and sharp while emitting deep, dark and earthy tones. Initially the lobby foo-foo spray caught me off guard but it's rather pleasant and not too off-putting or toxic-smelling (hopefully it isn't). I typically swing by for an Oatly steamer with personal mug and mix in my own rotating spice(s) of choice from my work desk collection. For personal rec's on this, PM me. Very cool spot with friendly baristas, to boot. No vegan snack options. The seating area is chill and great to check out. You could also try swinging their outdoor walk-up window. read more

I just returned from my first ever visit to Seattle, where I spent 3+ days home searching in advance of relocating for work. Though I had everything planned out to the letter, sometimes there are just happy accidents in life. Finding Made Coffee by chance (it's inside Hotel Theodore) tops the list and became an absolute highlight of my time in Seattle. I went there my first morning in the city, the next two mornings, and I can't wait for my next visit once I actually move in a few weeks! What's so special about this place? Well, it isn't just great coffee...and it's GREAT coffee. It's also the unique roasting process using an original roaster from the 1940s that burns alder wood instead of natural gas! Yes, this is fire roasted coffee! At the barista's (more on that in a moment) suggestion I ordered an Italiano. That's essentially an Americano with less water, so much stronger. The sweet, earthy, smoky quality was immediately apparent in the aroma with the earthiness more subtly carrying through on the palate. Folks, this coffee was intoxicating. I want to give a special shout-out to Allison, an incredibly nice person who is now also my favorite barista! She recommended and made the aforementioned mind-blowing Italiano, was so kind to explain everything about the company, and we ended up chatting for awhile. I even got a sample of the beans to take home with me. Except it didn't end there! Allison mentioned she'd be working the morning of my return flight, so on top of needing my coffee I wanted to make sure I said goodbye and thank her again. Well, Allison had made a point to get a pound of fresh beans for me direct from the roaster. How lucky am I?!?! I couldn't resist buying them, and as a nice perk my Italiano was free! The next morning I'm back in Seattle will begin with a return to Made Coffee. I love supporting a quality local business, and I already can't wait for a hello and perfectly crafted Italiano from my new favorite barista! P.S. - Try their delicious muffins while you're there. Espresso beans were not very good and barista just dumped room temp milk into the pulled shots and called it a cortado. The only experience we have with this place is the walk up window, which we went to twice while staying at the Paramount Hotel. This is EXCELLENT espresso, dare I say some of the best I've had? Found this little cafe during my stay at the Hotel Theodore last weekend. The coffee was excellent, but their mocha was unexpectedly incredible! I rarely order mochas (they're usually too sweet or gritty from cocoa powder) so I'm very happy I did this time. The barista told me they use Dilettante chocolate, which is local. Barista is a thinner woman with silver hair who is berating every customer who walks up. So far, she has yelled at 4/4 customers: First when I arrived, she stood and shouted and glared at customers for 2 minutes because no one picked up a small vanilla latte instantly, repeatedly shouting 'why order this if you're not going to pick it up.' The man in the bathroom came a few minutes later to pick it up... Every customer at the table by the coffee shop is looking at each other talking about how abrasive and rude ("what the hell is wrong with her?") she has been. When I approached to order, I asked for a latte with toasted marshmallow flavor. She rung it up and instantly asked for credit card and walked away. When I asked her to charge it to my room, she rolled her eyes and yelled "why didn't you say that?" I gave her my room number and she said "I NEED YOU TO STOP TALKING. STEP ASIDE." When the two French gentlemen after me came and asked for a croissant, she had a 60 second back and forth berating them for not pointing correctly to the right croissant and having a language barrier. "YOU NEED TO POINT CORRECTLY AT WHAT YOU WANTED - WHY DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS. HAVE YOU EVER POINTED BEFORE? DO YOU KNOW HOW TO POINT?" She then put the croissant into the paper bag and then slammed it on the counter. The two French gentlemen looked at each other confused. My coffee arrived seconds later, and she did not announce it at all or clarify who it was for, and so one of the French gentlemen picked it up and drank it. When I asked her what happened to my coffee, she yelled at me for not picking it up immediately (mistaking me for the man who ordered the small vanilla latte). I clarified that indeed that was not my order and asked her if she was okay as she had berated every single customer who walked up, and told her every single person was talking about her hostile attitude. Acting bewildered and victimized, she threw her hands up and said "I HAVE NOT BEEN MEAN TO ANYONE AND THAT WAS YOUR COFFEE." Unlike everyone else she tried to dominate, I matched her energy and said, "You have been a jerk to and berated every single person who has walked up here and I just want to know if you're okay." After yelling at me for about 10 seconds she took offense and snapped at me and rudely told me to leave. I told her I would either like my coffee, or to talk to Hotel / store management and started to walk away, to which she begrudgingly told me "WHAT DID YOU WANT THEN?". Right now there are 8 customers sitting at the table giving each other wide-eyes and asking each other "what the hell is her problem? Is she hungover?" After I told her I'd be discussing this with Hotel staff and posting a review, I went to sit in the lobby. She came over 20 minutes later to "apologize for her behavior" which was just an attempt to not get me to say anything to staff for her behavior. I told her I'd posted a review as this was a horrible experience to which she said "WOW, WOW, REALLY?!" and walked behind the front desk, assumedly to do damage control. I've had coffee every day for 4 days and the rest of the staff has been so kind and fun in the morning. Not sure if it's just a bad day or if this is her normal personality, but it is at odds with the environment one looks for at 7 am. Just check the security cameras I'm sure you have.
