I've known of this place for years and even met the owner back when it first opened. Funny enough, despite passing by countless times, I never actually stopped in. Part of that was because it used to compete directly with Ladro, which was less than a block away and had always been my go-to spot. Recently, I finally decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. The space is much larger than I expected, with plenty of seating for around 30 to 40 people. It also seems to be more than just a coffee shop, offering brunch and cocktails in addition to coffee. I didn't have a chance to try any of the food, so I can't speak to that side of the menu. What really surprised me was the coffee. It was excellent and honestly might have become my new favorite coffee spot in the area. The only reason I'm holding back from giving it five stars is the pricing, which feels a little steep for regular visits. Still, the quality of the coffee, the atmosphere, and the overall experience were enough to make me want to come back. read more

Stopped on our walk from street parking to Pike Place because my mom needed to use a bathroom. I got a hemp cappuccino and maybe I don't drink them enough at places outside of my local cafe, but I always thought cappuccinos were small (8 oz) and lattes were (or could be) larger. When I ordered a hemp milk cap- the barista asked me if I wanted 8 oz, 12 oz or 16 oz so I was nervous it wasn't gonna be a good cap. While there wasn't a cute latte art, the froth was decent. As a vegan, this place was a miss for me. We came for breakfast because I read reviews from other vegans saying there were a few options. They didn't have the tofu scramble in the Grab & Go. So when we went to order, I asked if they had any vegan options, and they asked me what that meant. I said I wanted something made without animal products, and they recommended the Fonte scramble. So that's what I ordered and asked for no cheese and a side of potatoes. It arrived with scrambled eggs. You may think I should have known that and it was my fault, but I specially asked for an animal-product free option and that's what I was told I could have. We also got the avocado toast, which was tasty enough, and two steamed vanilla almond milks. It wasn't too busy when we went, but we waited quite a long time for our food. Directly across from SAM, I can see The Hammer Man from my seat looking out over the street. Nice vibe instead and fast service. Ordered the usual (decaf flat white with heavy cream). I'd say it's an above average coffee shop and bar with thier own grounds and lots of local businesses to use this as an offsite meeting space. One drink everybody knows the rules, thier Carmel latte had very pale Carmel flavor, you could give this to a diabetic and they would live, I need my Carmel latte to smell and taste of Carmel 40 yards away. This is one of my favorite coffee places in Seattle. And given how many there are, that is saying something. I love the casual vibe of this specific location and how friendly the staff is. This place is less than a 10 minute walk from pikes place. When we were here, there appeared to be a lot of locals. The baristas were super friendly and gave some good recommendations on the different coffee types considering I was a tourist here. Service was quick. There are numerous options ranging from classic espresso drink, to drip of the day, to customizable options like a brewed-on-demand French press or "Clever Cup" made with your choice of beans. +1. Customer Service. Demonstrated knowledge of coffee, friendly, willing to share insight on other cafes which provide brewed-on-demand options. +1. Hours. Open at 7 am. Compared to nearby cafes this is a welcome time. Background. Let me cut to the quick. Downtown Seattle is $#!t for parking between 6 and 9 am. For starters? They don't allow parking on 1st Avenue during those hours. Then, there are the numerous commercial parking spots, temp. drop-off spots, and temporary work areas. So yeah, I'd suggest if you come here, you either are a pedestrian staying nearby, or are using public or rideshare transportation. Because, unless you find street parking, you're looking at around $20 at most large paid parking lots! Now, with that stated, Fonte's cafe is welcoming with subdued lighting, plenty of seating, and numerous drink options. The entrance is accessible by those with or without accessible needs. Those needing a ramp are covered also. Standing in line, there is a large, digital, menu board, to your left which provided numerous drinks including classic espresso-based, drip of the day, along with french press and clever pour (e.g. kinda like pour over) options. Queued up, I was able to order a clever brew with their Sumatra, which was poured in a 12-ounce format. The barista also went to the trouble of reminding me the wait, around 10 minutes for the coffee to be finished. During the wait, the overhead audio was at a level that some might find aggressive. But, I didn't find it burdensome. The cafe even took the meaningful step of putting up sound mats in key parts of the cafe. As far as roasters go, this is probably the total package. This is the first roaster that didn't deny me a brewed-on-demand option, of my choice. Finally, I can't speak to most of the drink menu. But, what I can say, is my coffee was hot, bold, and rewarding. As always, your individual will vary. read more

It's located right next to the four season hotel near Pike Place. It's definitely convenient place to grab coffee/breakfast/lunch. The floor and chairs were dirty more than I expected as our puppy's brand new white diaper completely got dark! So don't wear any nice clothes. They do offer free wi-fi and outlet plugs are available on certain seats, so it's convenient for digital nomads. Cappuccino - nothing special but it was a good strong cappuccino Dessert rose latte - this latte with rose syrup and cinnamon was amazing that we ordered the second to go. Sage latte - We tried this out of the curiosity. It tastes like rotisserie chicken or chicken soup with coffee. We should have known. It's drinkable, but neither of us are big fan of this one. Unless you are looking for a cup of coffee to fool your brain to think you've had rotisserie chicken with coffee, we would not recommend it. We got kicked out from this coffee shop before we were able to order lunch because our puppy (usually super quiet) didn't stop whimpering for some reasons. First you have to clear off the huge pile of arugula, then a layer of very soggy tomato and underneath a thin layer of avocado concoction.
