I occasionally work nearby, so when I need to take a coffee/tea break, I swing by here to get something. It's located on Occidental in Pioneer Square, this place has been here for a long while. It's a nice place to come by, I really like the decor of the place, inside and out. It's the Italian coffee bar look to make you really get into the spirit of being elsewhere. Depending on what you order, I would think everything is made nicely here. Besides their coffee drinks, I've ordered chai lattes too, equally as delicious. Haven't had their food yet but plan to one day. Overall, it's always been nice visits when coming here. I stopped here during my bus/train layover in Seattle. I came in just after 9 and must have missed the rush hour because it was pretty quiet. The interior is very spacious with lots of seating, and it looked clean. The barista that took my order was very friendly and gave me a very in-depth answer to my question about one of their specialty drinks, which I appreciated. I got an orange currant scone and a lavender latte. The scone was gluten free and had kind of a grainy texture but not in a bad way. The flavour was great. The lavender latte was pretty sweet but I liked how strong the lavender was, and it was really good coffee. Good choice for a quick coffee and bite. read more

When I politely pointed it out, the cashier's response was simply "yeah" -- no explanation, no correction, no apology. It was dismissive and frankly unacceptable. On top of that, these two male staff members openly chatting about dating and their "shitty life" behind the counter. It felt unprofessional and awkward as a customer, especially when basic service issues were being ignored. We're tourists, and based on other negative reviews, this doesn't seem like a one-off. It honestly makes you wonder how this place is still in business. Is this really the level of service Seattle coffee shops are settling for? I began my day in search of a place with a good vibe. My goal was to find a chill cafe to sit and journey into the bowels of Postgre SQL. And I found the best local cafe in seattle, located in pioneer square, close to all major forms of transportation! The noise level was well meshed with ambient background music and there was ample seating for any size group. In addition, the decor was unique and futuristic and showcased different forms of art and technology as a store layout style. Ohh btw, do yourself a favor and try the Cardamon Maple Latte with almond milk. I promise you won't regret it! Overall, I would give this cafe a 10 out of 10! Not to mention, the customer service was exquisite! Soleil and Naomi helped me decide which drink to pick based upon my mood! I stopped by this cafe on a Saturday afternoon after seeing cute pictures of it. I really enjoyed the decor and space. They had lots of seating and even a couple tables outside. I think it would be a great place to sit and get some work done. There was also this couple sitting by us who was doing a crossword together and I thought that was really cute and added to the cafe vibe. The drinks were subpar, unfortunately. We did come around the time they were closing so maybe they were rushed a bit? But my matcha latte tasted like milk and the honey oat latte my friend got was missing the creaminess that lattes usually have. Over all I wish the drinks were better, but I would be willing to try again since the atmosphere was so cute! read more

Cute and convenient. They're open early, even on weekends and the few tables they have outside were all taken so it seemed like a popular spot on a Saturday morning. I came in because I heard they have good scones and the pastries did look very good from outside. I didn't quite catch what type of bread I got, I went more for looks but it had a bunch of nuts and seeds and was pretty tasty. Perfect snack for a bird or me. Went here because we had a gift card but they said they couldn't honor it because it was too old and they had a new system. It was a $50 gift card and the manager (I'm assuming) said they could offer us 2 free drink cards or $20 off our order. Our order total was around $26 (2 coffees and 2 pastries) because we were planning on using the gift card. I'm pretty sure it's illegal to not honor a gift card as it is supposed to be treated like cash. We took the $20 off but it's pretty lame that they couldn't just give us our order for free this one time. They said they had no way to verify the amount on the card but why would we lie about it being $50? The coffee was also mid and the pastries were just okay. Save your time and money and go to a better cafe in Seattle, there's plenty. However, the workers were all very nice and welcoming and we did not make a fuss about it. I visited Caffè Umbria recently in search of the perfect coffee to drink the morning of my wedding with my whole bridal party. I immediately loved the atmosphere and was kindly greeted by the person behind the counter. I loved the freestanding tables I could set my items on while I waited for my coffee to be prepared. Once my coffee was ready, they clearly called out my order and I grabbed my drink and the (optional) lid they had sitting for me on a plate. I dropped in for quick and simple lunch on my work day without much expectation. Dirty chai latte is always my favorite but since I had a great one in Australia, I just couldn't find any good ones in the greater Seattle area until I tried this cup from Caffe Umbria. The spiciness, sweetness and espresso tastes were so matched and it was surprisingly good! I also had a piece of quiche and it tasted so good with wonderful aromatic in my mouth. Ordered a small, coconut cream latte that had zero coconut flavor. If I didn't know that it was supposed to be a flavored coffee. I would've felt that it was just a regular latte. It does have great ambience, because you can sit on tables that are on Occidental Square. If I'm ever in the area again, I would order some thing else because the ambience is so nice. Update: cafe Umbria reached out to let me know that they would've remade my drink if I was unhappy. Great customer service! I love Caffè Umbria's coffee, gelato, and food offerings. Their seasonal fall drinks are by far my favorite of any Seattle coffee shop. Their pumpkin spice actually tastes like pumpkin, and their cardamon maple is the most "fall" tasting drink I've had in my life. This location has a wonderful patio and ample indoor seating with a variety of options. The cafe is spacious, and the standing tables by the coffee bar so you can wait on your drink is a great idea and I wish more coffee shops did this. The low rating is due to the service and staff. I have very serious food sensitivities that can cause very serious medical issues if I'm not careful, and the staff treat my requests like I'm just being a finicky customer. On more than one occasion I have asked for nonfat milk, watched the barista use whole milk to make my drink, hear them announce my drink without specifying "nonfat," apologized to the barista for the misunderstanding and that the drink should be nonfat, and have them lie to my face and tell me it is as if I didn't just watch them use whole milk. At that point they generally double-down despite this, so I give up and leave, throwing the drink out once I'm far enough away. When I observe them using the right ingredients, they're my favorite coffee drinks. Yet... I have landed in the emergency room in the past from drinking lattes where I was lied to, so I can't risk it anymore and have to watch closely. I also should not have to disclose my very serious medical conditions and food sensitivities for my requests to be treated with respect. I have yet to get coffee here, which I've done often in the past 3 years I've lived in this neighborhood, and not be treated like an absolute nuisance and annoyance by the staff. The baristas always snarl at and snap at me, and sometimes they even talk/gossip about me amongst themselves right in front of me. I am the type to patiently wait for the cashier to be ready, make my order, pay, wait for my drink and leave without speaking, so there is absolutely nothing to warrant this. At one point I had to wear a medical device for a few weeks, and coming in and hearing them gossip amongst themselves about it while I waited for my drink was one of the most humiliating and demoralizing experiences. I just wanted a coffee. I get this is Seattle, and I'm not asking you to feign happiness or glee when you see me, but not being snarled at or gossiped about every time I come in would be nice. Zeitgeist are typically pretty rude to me, but at least they don't audibly mock me amongst themselves or constantly make my drinks with ingredients I can't have then lie to my face about it. Maybe Caffè Umbria's owners and management need to pay their employees more and treat them better so they aren't always so burned out and upset. That alone wouldn't normally deter me, I've been a barista and know what hard, thankless work it is, but combined with how often they don't honor my dietary requests? I just can't justify going anymore. read more

A nice cafe' place in beautiful Pioneer Square. Was on my way from downtown to sodo and could not find a caffe Ladro open, my favorite espresso place in Seattle. Knowing how good caffè Umbria is (I love their Gusto Crema), I decided to stop by their Pioneer Square store and get a Cortado. Great decision, I needed a good velvety delicious espresso to carry on with my day. The pastries and cookies looked really good, next time I'll get some. The place is spacious and beautiful with roasting machines and lots of coffee related pictures, it's a shame that nobody is around due to COVID. I'll be back. read more

First time customer. Nice cafe win a great location and great big window to look outside. I can image how beautiful it would be in sunny days. I appreciate the alternative milk options. They also have one (1) vegan pastry. I ordered my go to Soy Milk Latte. The coffe was too weak and it barely tasted like a coffee drink. It's the reason why I don't do Starbucks, the weak coffee. It's like hotel coffee with soy milk in it. I can make that in my hotel room. I couldn't believe the tour guide suggested it and mentioned the coffee here is strong coffee. Maybe I should trust your guide's suggestions no more. I only give it a 3 stars based on the tasteless coffee and only based on one time visit. read more
