Breakfast is more than a meal; it's a state of mind. One can eat eggs, bacon, biscuit sandwiches, or pancakes at any time. It can be the fuel one needs to jump-start one's day. Located directly across the street from our hotel, Midtown Espresso is a cozy, locally family-operated establishment on 5th Avenue tucked in among Belltown's densest condos, where some of us started the day in Seattle last July. There were counter areas with a few tables inside and outside. Their breakfast menu featured omelettes, sandwiches, entrees, and cereals.  Greeted by the staff inside with a retro vibe, I ordered a breakfast sandwich and coffee. It was delicious and hit the spot. The service was quick and efficient. Don't let the size fool you. read more

Came from out of town from Los Angeles stayed in local area for two days -came to this cafe twice. First off the cashier gives..no greeting ..I guess many locals come here and know what to order -anyhow- I wasn't given or offered utensils or napkins-? the chai was delicious the breakfast sandwich was ok. Came back day 2 same deal this time my breakfast sandwich was wrapped in a foil- no lettuce no tomato ... no utensils... no napkins ..no greeting. Especially for the prices. I'm the type of customer I will spend money if I'm given smile and good service. Food was ok. Chai was good. Customer service can be improved but I guess that's a Seattle thing. Cute ambiance to the cafe will give it that. read more

I don't know how this places has such good reviews. Both the drip coffee and latte we got were luke warm. The bagel was a bland, cheap grocery store bagel that they barely waved cream cheese near. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good coffee or quality food. While we were in there a guy commented on how relaxing their music was (basic jazz instrumental) so I guess if that's more important to you than food quality, this is your place. read more

Been navigating for a nice and warm cozy coffee shop in downtown Seattle and Midtown Espresso happily came up! It serves wonderful coffee and tea drinks including breakfast. We came for its coffee. Small, comfortable and luckily it wasn't crowded. It was empty when we got there just after 12 noon. Spent an hour enjoying our coffee and cappuccino. Service wise, it's functional. But it's a nice place to be to warm up your hands while sipping your favorite cuppa. read more

My wife and I stopped here for a coffee and cappuccino. Both were very good and well prepared. The ambiance of the coffee shop is very pleasant and chilled, even cozy. The chairs were comfortable and the tables a nice size. On a chilly day it was a nice place to park ourselves and warm up. The reason for the 4 star (vs. 5 star) rating is the person serving us was brusque and not warm at all. Maybe she was having a bad day. It won't keep me from returning though. Midtown Espresso does have a good vibe and is a good place to hang out. Next time I'll try the food. read more

Quick, inexpensive average breakfast. We were getting ready to fly home that afternoon and this cafe was across the street from the hotel we stayed at so the close proximity was appealing. The breakfast was lacking however. The actual cafe was very cute and homey. The gal running it was nice enough and let me select my tea of choice from some boxes that were on display. For $12.95, I got their 2 egg breakfast with toast and bacon and it was similar to something one can make at home or find at a convenience store. My eggs were a bit overdone and the bacon was microwaveable bacon. Toast was the best part I suppose. The hubby concurred. But the breakfast served as a filler and kept me full until I got to the airport for lunch later that day. 3 stars. read more

I decided to have breakfast here and honestly wasn't expecting much, I do apologize for the honesty, but to my surprise it was quite nice from the food to the interior as well. The lady that helped me was pretty straightforward with everything and she seemed to be very quick at her job, which fits the place well. Overall the food in honesty was above average and I also forgot to enjoy my meal with ketchup, which would have elevated it for sure. Would try again. read more

I came for the breakfast because it was close to my hotel. It's quick and convenient but the egg and meat for the meals are microwaved. I didn't try the coffee but see several come in for it. Just don't expect much for the breakfast. read more

The vegetarian breakfast sandwich and matcha were really good! I appreciated that they toasted it for me without squishing it. The matcha tasted very much like a more traditional matcha too. They are actually open on Saturdays from 7-12:30 according to the person behind the counter and I stopped by just before they closed to grab my lunch/brunch. Very kind and efficient service. They made me a sandwich and let me eat inside even though they were closing soon, which I appreciated (and was once scolded for at another cafe down the block even though they weren't closing for 45 more minutes). It's a pretty small space inside with only 3 or so tables, though it seems they have outdoor seating when the weather is nice and they're not 15 minutes from closing. read more

There was only 1 person working at the time and she provided great service. She took our orders, made us our lattes and then cooked up our breakfast and served us all pretty quickly too. I do NOT recommend this place. The food was very minimal, breakfast sandwich on a bagel is a small, frozen bagel, not fresh. The coffee wasn't very good and in Seattle this is a priority. The person working wasn't friendly and didn't seem to care if we were there or not. Across the street is Top Pot and they have wonderful food, made on premises plus fantastic coffee. Walk across the street for breakfast or coffee, you will be very happy you did. read more

Cute little cafe rightttt across from Top Pot (took all I had not to cross the street). I saw that it had great reviews, so I was pretty excited! So far, I just feel pretty "meh" about this place. I ordered an organic green tea latte and the first half of the drink was pretty good. Once I got about halfway through, all the matcha flavor disappeared and I was just drinking steamed milk... I'm not sure if they didn't stir it well or what, but I couldn't handle just drinking steamed milk. Bleck. It's a really cute place (very tiny) and the owner and his employee that was there was super nice. I'm interested in coming back for their breakfast sandwich or omelette options - and to give them a second chance on the drink. read more

this is the best little spot for a quick breakfast sandwich and coffee (or green tea latte)! they have all the milk alternatives, and are willing to substitute anything for you! might i also mention they have the cheapest breakfast in all of downtown?! $5 for a handmade (not the frozen crap like starbucks) breakfast sandwich. it's also family run! they close at 1pm, sometimes around 12:30ish, so get your butt out of bed!! read more

This little breakfast/brunch/lunch shop is super cute. They have a variety of breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and coffee. I even got a free coffee here once just because, which was really nice of the owner! Prices are a little high for breakfast sandwiches (bacon egg and cheese run close to $5.00) but I can't seem to find too many good breakfast sandwich places in Seattle for some reason. I've gotten it twice and it is pretty decent. You get a choice of bagel, wheat bread, English muffin, or a croissant. read more

Last Friday morning, desperate for caffeine and a bite, I almost resorted to the Starbucks next to my hotel but fortunately kept walking due to the looong line, and stumbled into this charming, friendly little gem right across from the top-something donut joint. Glad I did! The coffee was nice & hot (unlike the lukewarmish stuff Starbucks Corporate decrees (just in case someone spills on themself I guess). And both the oatmeal and the bagel egg sandwich were superb. The oatmeal was the thick old-fashioned kind of oats that almost no one serves anymore, served with nuts and raisins in my case. And the bagel sandwich was lovely, warmed perfectly, chewy but not tough, with perfectly cooked egg and fresh spinach. read more

Alex! You rock! Alex owns the shop. He's secretly a super hero. This dude can remember not only everyone's face that comes in maybe once or twice, but also what each person drinks. You walk in, he'll recognize you, call it out, and get it ready in a matter of seconds! It's crazy amazing! I mean, I once didn't come in for a good month or two, and he STILL remembered that I am double tall Americano. Now he knows my brother, who works in my same building and comes in with me. We are a double tall Americano team. He loves it. Another time, they were out of V8, which my co-worker gets every morning. Alex literally FLEW to Safeway and bought more V8, just so Carl could have his morning salt rush. Sure, Midtown is just a little corner stop. Right on 5th Ave. under the monorail, across from the Top Pot, people are thinking they'd rather have a slow-served grease blob instead of a banana, a breakfast sandwich, a made-to-order espresso, and a hard candy from Midtown. But, I'm telling you: the people at Top Pot are not super heroes. They serve pre-made grease blobs and unappetizing cold sandwiches that sit in the same case all day. Alex offers freshly made food, super hero espressos and drinks, and a warm neighborhood feel to each customer. read more

Its a tiny hole in the wall that most people would pass by every day and never think to go in. Its not very flashy or modern, and the interior only has 3 tables and 1 counter to sit at. ignore that, the coffee here is good, the owner remembers all his regular customers by name, and their favorite drink, and he customizes a design in their cut with a paint brush. you just dont get that kind of attention at any of the chain coffee companies.
