How I heard of this place: Cafe Javasti has been around probably since I moved to Seattle in the early 2000s. That being said, it wasn't until recently, when a friend invited me to join her for coffee and crepes that I entered the cafe. Type of cuisine: Espresso beverages, pastries and crepes - sweet and savory varieties. Ambiance: A bustling Maple Leaf neighborhood cafe, set in a small strip of shops, with minimal outdoor seating, and cramped indoor seating. A large window at the front provides natural light. The display of pastries, salads and sandwiches is in your immediate view upon entry. The clatter of knives on plates, chatter among patrons and staff distracts from any music that might be playing in the background. What I ordered: On my first visit, a number 13 ($11.75): Savory crepe with sauteed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, spinach and a tarragon sauce. Not impressed by the buckwheat crepes at all- go for regular if you don't have major issues with wheat! The regular ones have been much better in the past. The toppings were extremely light. I added arugula to mine, however the arugula was mostly yellow and gross- a little shocked they actually served it. I don't want to leave a poor review, but if the barista, who also took my order, doesn't know what a flat white is, why wouldn't they ask for a description instead of making a watery, foamy latte? There is no place to wait for your order and it is very awkward. I was the only one waiting and had to move so an employee could get to the bus tubs. The flow is the least concerning issue, but it doesn't help customers feel welcome. This is the second time I've been disappointed with my espresso order. Amazing crepes and coffee! What more can you ask for. We drive across town to come here definitely some of the best crepes you can find. We ordered the Nutella and Banana sweet crepe and the ham and Swiss savory crepe. A perfect balance of sweet and savory. Both very tasty and made to perfection. The service here is awesome. I love that the chef takes pride in the look and taste of these and as he walks it out to you he knows your going to be excited. We also love the coffee here and they make it quickly. This location has a decent amount of seating but every time we come it's pretty packed. We can usually grab a seat. If it's warmer weather they also have a few seats outside. I really liked the savory without mozzarella cheese, since I have trouble with that issue, sometimes seating is difficult to find, you have to snag a table and chair, maybe put your coat and bag over it as a place holder, the restrooms are okay when both of them work, if there's a line, then of course you'll have to wait, maybe go do your laundry and come back-there's a laundromat within steps away outside. If you live nearby it's a great walk to place, if you have a few extra dollars. read more

First time at this location, and I think I prefer the Wedgwood spot which doesn't feel as chaotic. Or maybe this was an exception to the norm. The food and drink here were still good, but the flow or lack thereof didn't work for me. It was around noon on a busy Sunday, and we were lucky to claim a two-top when we arrived, and even luckier to expand to accommodate four of us when the rest of our party showed up soon afterwards. We were told when we ordered that it would be a half hour before we'd get our crepes. Grateful for the heads up, we grabbed a couple pastries with our coffees to tide us over. Coffee pick-up on the other end of the counter was a little dysfunctional. We couldn't hear them call out coffee orders across the small cafe, but there's not really room to mill around the coffee bar because that's where they're bringing out crepe orders and where people are bussing dishes. My latte sat in front of me at the bar for a while before I realized it was "mine" because it wasn't what I'd ordered. I politely asked them to remake it, which they did, but everyone was in go-mode (read: abrupt) which made it seem like a great inconvenience leading me to feel bad for their mistake. Anyway, it all turned out fine and the crepes were tasty. I usually go with a #12 (Olive tapenade, roasted bell peppers, goat cheese, spinach) or #13 (Sauteed mushrooms, swiss cheese, tomatoes, spinach, tarragon sauce) but instead tried the #10 (Fresh mushrooms, pesto, mozzarella, tomato). The fresh mushrooms cooled it down too quickly, so next time I'll revert to one of my regular favorites. And it will likely be at the other location. read more

The food and drink are both solid! Came here a couple times for drinks but first time ordering the crepe. The paste inside tastes like some variation of honey Dijon. There's way less cheese than I was expecting and the spinach is raw. The overall flavor is not the best but it's a nice crepe nonetheless. The mocha is great! Not too sweet and strong cocoa flavor. Everything tasted pretty good and was out pretty quick for the amount of people in there. For to go orders they ask if you need cutlery and provide the food in compostable take away boxes. The biggest disappointment, though, was that the internet didn't work. A nice cafe with sweet and savory crepes within the $7-11 range, just a hop and skip away from Maple Leaf Park. This is their flagship store. They offer dog treats to the left of the entrance! Everyone was friendly. My friend and I sat at a table outside and enjoyed our savory crepes, which came in around 15 minutes: #8 with ham, swiss, spinach and tarragon sauce, and #11 with chicken, pesto, mozzarella and tomato. The ingredients and flavors were well-balanced and delicious, they were generous with the meat, and the portion was great for lunch. These crepes really hit the spot. I especially recommend #11 if you're a fan of pesto! Through Cafe Javasti, we enjoyed a taste of this peaceful and interesting neighborhood. read more

I've heard great things about the crepes so definitely will come back to try but my vanilla latte was pretty watered down even after the initial sip. The melting ice didn't help either as it kept just getting watered down. My friend's oat milk latte tasted only like oat milk with a very light coffee taste. I think this is one of my favorite cafes in Seattle! It's a small,warm,cozy, and charming space where people meet to practice conversational Spanish, enjoy some crepes, and sip some good coffee. Strawberry vanilla whip cream crepe, like woah! Quite possibly the best crepe I've ever had. I was surprised to have casually ordered this and to be blown away by its taste. I'm picking on my crepes, especially if it's too little crepe filling or if it's overly loaded. A lovely little cafe in the maple leaf neighborhood. A great place to great a cup of coffee and walk to maple leaf park. Another perfect studying spot for students. However, there are limited seats and limited outlets. I personally love studying here and grabbing a nice warm latte. If you want a nice snack, they make good crepes that can be savory or sweet! The employees are so nice and kind. As required by all food and drink establishments they do check vaccination cards. So do not forget to bring that or a photo of it. Because of COVID, they do leave the door open for ventilation of the cafe to protect you and the employees. It does get chilly so I recommend bringing a nice warm coat to wear to keep you warm. Parking (3/5): Street parking only. Around the neighborhood, there are usually parking spots with 30 minute or 2 hr limits. Other areas don't have a limit for the study folks :) Overall a great cafe to come and have a nice cup of coffee. read more

Consistently great baked goods, solid coffee, and delicious crepes! This is one of our go-tos, in part due to the variety and high quality of the baked goods. Unlike many of the other coffee shops in the area, Javasti bakes their own, and everything is delicious! Zucchini bread, monster cookie, banana bread, and more. Coffee is consistently good, too! Outdoor seating area is small but if you get a spot, it's a nice spot to sit and enjoy your food. I'd recommend ordering crepes ahead, as these may require a bit of a wait, particularly if others ahead of you have ordered crepes. For those reading earlier reviews, neither vax cards nor masks are required now that the mandates have lifted. read more

Cashier with silvery purple hair took nearly 10 minutes just to take the single order of the lady in front of us. Our order was simple; we all ordered the same crepe to go. We still waited 40 minutes for them. They each sat getting cold while the single crepe cook finished them one at a time. There were a lot of people working but while the crepe cook was working very hard was not clear what the other staff were doing to help. The crepes are still some of the best I have tasted. That's the dilemma. Cook is great. Food is great. Experience and wait time is awful. So I suggest getting them to go, reheating when you get home, and being prepared to wait at least half an hour or more after ordering for them, or eating in with time to kill an hour while you wait for your food and ask for them as they are done or 1st one will be cold while you wait for the 2nd etc. Be ready to eat before everybody is served in your party or eat cold food. Or maybe the owner will better train his or her staff and get a 2nd crepe cooking station so service is faster, and get heat lamps so warm food is kept warm. Actual crepe cooks deserve a raise. Both weekday and weekend ones. We have gone both times and both cooks were exceptional. read more
