The first time I visited, I got the espresso doppio and the cafe Al Pepe. Both were good -- the espresso was chocolatey (but not too concentrated). I haven't had any cafe al pepes before so was pleasantly surprised by the pepper flavor profile. However, the second time I went, I got the cappuccino al cacao. It was SCORCHING hot!! Definitely had minor tongue burns after the first sip. I was super disappointed.. overheated milk is one of the marks of bad coffee.

Extremely aesthetic coffee shop with plenty of outlets. I got a latte made with nonfat milk. I was (pleasantly) surprised when the barista brought my drink over to my table instead of just shouting my order; I always get nervous about spilling! The included chocolate was a nice touch too. I also appreciated that they had the option of sparkling water. Overall, a pretty good place to do work. I'd bring a jacket though; the AC is turned on pretty high. Will definitely be coming back.

Delicious! I bet competition is steep in Seattle, but Cafe Umbria really brings it. I was in Seattle for a month and this was probably the best coffee I had. The service is fast and efficient, likely because they are deeply busy (we went on a Sunday during the farmers market, so that didn't help). Even so, we had our drinks within minutes. We got an espresso and an americano, and both were made perfectly. You could tell that the coffee is very high quality. It was pretty loud in there, so I don't think (at least on Sundays) that this is the best option to sit and hangout/study, but the coffee definitely rules!!

In Seattle you will find many coffee shops. Some will charge you an arm and a leg and have crappy customer service. This place is the opposite. The coffee is top notch. They understand the quality of coffee and will make sure you experience how Italians enjoy coffee. I love that they gift you a piece of chocolate with your coffee order; quality chocolate. The aesthetic is gorgeous with many sitting options. If you're in Ballard, go here if you enjoy good coffee and want to be greeted with a friendly smile. Both were ready pretty quickly. The chai was spicy and not too sweet which I really liked. The egg sandwich was yummy too. Thick egg filling, with the chili sauce went well together. Pickles were a little too salty for me especially just to eat on the side. I guess you could put it inside the sandwich? But still, quite salty. Service was super friendly and welcoming, would definitely come again to try more of their seasonal drinks and food. A cocktail here sounds interesting as well!

This place is great! We arrived around 1:30pm on a Saturday which was the perfect time because we stepped right up to the counter, ordered, and found a table without waiting. I started off with the Zucchini Bread with Cardamom (no dairy, yay!). It was moist, just the right amount of sweetness, and delicious. Wish it had a stronger pop of cardamom, but I'd still definitely order it again. My hubs had the Ginger Scone which brought back sweet memories for him of going to the now-no-longer Cafe Besalu on 24th Ave NW and getting their famous ginger biscuit. He said this scone was just as good. Then we shared a whole rotisserie chicken (2 drumsticks with attached thighs, 2 chicken breasts with attached wings) that came with a salsa verde, lemon crema, and a spice mix. The fresh salsa verde was a beautiful condiment for the crispy and juicy chicken. We ate our fill and took one breast and wing home. Would order this dish again. Our cashier was friendly. The atmosphere while we ate was peaceful because of our timing. I can imagine it might be noisier at busy times. The cafe/restaurant has a gourmet foods, grab & go foods, and wine shop combined with it, which we browsed through after we ate. Might come here for some pulled rotisserie chicken to go if we just need some easy protein on a busy day. Super convenient option. Now that we've eaten here, I can see why so many people like Mainstay Provisions, and I really hope it's a mainstay in Ballard for many years to come.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. How I heard of this place: Their soft then grand opening was in a space previously called One Cup,…read moreand while driving by one lone afternoon, we found that ownership and name had changed. We were thrilled to discover it's new management's plans and community, service oriented nature - not to mention their excellent breakfast sandwiches and good beverages! Type of cuisine: Cafe fare - espresso beverages, as well as non-caffeinated items for kids and those who prefer not to partake. Breakfast sandwiches, burritos, pastries. Ambiance: Large, expansive and spacious. There is a small patio with outdoor seating available, should you prefer to dine facing Aurora's traffic congestion. But inside, office furniture helps create separte-feeling booth-like seating with small coffee/end tables for your purchases. Large tables, too, conference sized grace the main space for those wishing to work alone on devices, or engage in conversation among friends and family. An open area also exists, accounting for about one-third of the entire room, which allows for gathering while standing, as well as providing ample space for lines to grow and distance to be maintained (covid-safe). What I ordered: On most ever visit, I stick with my favorites: the bacon breakfast sandwich (if you like the bacon crispy, as that it be cooked out of the sandwich and alongside then placed inside), the sweet potato scone, the sausauge breakfast sandwich and the slightly spicy, vegan potato, bean burrito. My beverage of choice is the Melanin Mocha (dark chocolate moch), though I've also ordered the blackberry mocha, and a couple of others. My husband always sticks with The Karen (white chocolate mocha), while our children enjoy a cup of steamed milk with caramel sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles with their food. What I loved: Everything about this place; namely its mission and complete devotion to the youth and community. Empowerment is strong in this space and the food and drinks are a bonus that amplify and support the work being done. Why I loved it: For all of the reasons listed above - and more. Cost: Average
