I was excited to try Valentina's after hearing good things, but it was a letdown. I ordered the Mexican mocha, and it tasted like a lukewarm kids' hot chocolate from Starbucks. My husband even took a sip and asked, "What's Mexican about it?" It lacked the rich chocolate and spice you'd expect from a Mexican mocha. What made the experience worse was the customer service. The staff came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, and I didn't even feel comfortable asking them to heat up my drink. Overall, it was not worth the visit and I don't plan on returning. Cute ambiance and decor for sure. I thought they would have used Mexico beans at this cafe but it seems they just use regular beans/blends. Was hoping they might have some good beans for sale. Got the orange mocha which was tasty. They use Mexican hot chocolate in it. I also was hoping there would be more Mexican pastries available but majority of their pastry case were just regular scones/pastries and just had one type of conchas. First time visiting The wait was a bit long since there was only one cashier taking orders and one barista making all the drinks. That said, the staff were very friendly and patient in answering my questions I ordered a latte with Mexican caramel syrup , which ended up being a bit too sweet for my taste. What a cute gem! The interior is elegant and has beautiful high and low tables. Drinks are also classics but also some with a twist! I love that they offer their drinks in 4 oz as well. Matcha: strawberries were like jam, but slightly tart. This is pretty great considering it's not actually strawberry season. Kind of reminded me of the sweetness of a freeze dried strawberry. It was a bit creamier than I expected, but not in a bad way. I felt like I was drinking strawberry matcha clouds. Mocha with orange: this was fun! The slight citrus zing gave it a more refreshing taste than your usual coffee. Would get again and would also like to try the other fun flavors. Saw some people doing work, saw some people catching up with others. Barista was kind and seemed to be the only one working. First, the barista was friendly and helpful. She not only helped me make a very difficult decision, but also gave us ideas for what to do around Seattle. Valentina's menu has some incredibly delicious sounding options making it very challenging to not walk away with 14 drinks. The specialties drink menu is fire -fresas con crema matcha, Tulum latte, Catalan latte, mazapan latte.... What's a girl to-do?? Even a flight option! Unfortunately, the flight cannot be customized as this would have solved some of my decision making troubles. Eventually I settled on the Valencia mocha and got the strawberry concha. To start with, the concha game in the Pacific NW is unbelievable. This concha was soft and chewy with just a hint of vanilla on the lightly sweetened bread. The burst of fresh strawberries was a delightful addition to the pastry. I could smell the orange oils in the Valencia mocha as I walked my coffee to the table. It was vibrant and exciting! I couldn't wait to get into it and it was worth every penny. It reminded me of the holidays with chocolate covered oranges. It was so good-rich dark chocolate with the essence of orange. A beautiful little Cafe right next door to Olympic athletic club. They have some great big goods and other food options and a bunch of Mexican specialty coffees. Their drinks were fantastic and a little different than what I've been able to find from other coffee areas, so I'll definitely be back again. The cafe itself has some really interesting decor and is a great place to sit down and get some work done or catch up with friends. It's one of the few coffee spots open until later in the day as well, so it's definitely going to be a regular spot for me. I stopped by for a late breakfast. The cafe was clean and welcoming with friendly service. Luckily I found street parking nearby. I ordered the Beyond Breakfast Burrito and the Burnt Basque Cheesecake. The burrito was made-to-order with fresh-tasting ingredients. It was also wrapped so well that it didn't fall apart while eating. The cheesecake was delicious with a creamy texture and just the right amount of sweetness. It was on the pricey side though. I enjoyed my visit and spent almost two hours reading. It's a great spot to get work done. They open early, close late, and have great vibes. read more

I visit weekly. I love that the drinks are Mexican inspired. The cafe is beautiful, nice ambiance and customer service. I have done some work here as well. I've tried the Valentina's latte, mazapán and Catalan... all good! The blueberry scone is just enough sweetness, almost doesn't even seem sweet, which I like. The person that was closing on Sunday, May 17th 2026 was extremely rude to us, cutting off my wife in the middle of our order to say that drinks were unavailable. (I am certain they just didn't want to make them.) The drinks they made were disgusting, we got a matcha and a chai tea but both tasted like straight milk. And they were yelling at the rest of the customers about closing soon with a temper that would make me not surprised if they forcefully kicked everyone out right when closing time came. The only nice thing about this cafe was the atmosphere. But atmosphere means nothing if the service and drinks are absolutely trash. That was our first time trying that cafe and will definitely be our last as well. read more

A wonderful remote work spot or a spot to chat. It's so cozy and the art is so whimsical in here. All there drinks are such awesome flavor combos that kinda never fail. My favorite Seattle coffee shop! As a Mexican American, it was so fun to stumble upon this Mexican coffee shop in Seattle. I had a latte with Mexican caramel and it was delicious. I do wish the caramel was mixed with the espresso a bit more before adding the ice and milk, but it was still tasty. The decor was my favorite part. It is a truly beautiful shop that had plenty of space to feel comfortable in. My friend and I read our books for a little in one of the nice booths and it was the perfect place to do that. A vibe - Diverse Coffee Menu - Great staff Valentina's a whole vibe and I'm here for it. The coffee menu is so unique compared to what's around and definitely worth the try. Pays great homage to their Hispanic coffee roots. Don't get a regular coffee, try something outside your norm. A safe space to do it! The aesthetics are all too pleasing, classy rustic and modern vibes. Great spot to get work done or meet up for coffee. My only complaint is that there is no way to rewarm a coffee should you stay and need it reheated but the barista was nice enough to top me off - which I so greatly appreciate! read more

I've been to Valentina's a few times now and have had a good experience each time! It's in a convenient location of downtown Ballard, but not on the main strip, which is nice. They have plenty of seating inside and also have wifi. Outside they have just 2 small tables, but it's very cute. Their drinks are a bit on the sweeter side, but have good variety. All food is prepackaged or prepared in this cafe, but I like the pastries! Overall, a solid addition to the neighborhood and such a cute spot! read more

Food - our breakfast/brunch food was fresh and not just reheated or pre-packaged stuff. The breakfast sandwich for my partner and the veggie burrito for me. They were still serving breakfast items (as available) until around 1pm, which was lovely. They have lots of options for dietary restrictions like vegetarian (me) or vegan or gluten free. The drinks were also fantastic and decently unique selection with a cornucopia of milk options (including sesame milk that I'll have to go back to try). We went with the chai (more spicy than sweet, which is my pref) and the Valentina, which was really good. Service - very speedy and friendly server. She was also very patient with any questions and seemed to be handling a full cafe of people by herself without us even realizing. Ambiance - super cool and funky spot. It's got elegant but unique decor that you want to look at and find more detail in, but doesn't distract from any work or conversation. It's just a pleasant and unique vibe! I would absolutely come back here and am already planning on bringing some friends. Gotta try the cochas next time before they're out! read more

Very friendly staff and a calm atmosphere with lofi music. I've visited a couple of times specifically looking for conchas. They're on the pricier side, so I was expecting them to taste fresh. The flavor is great and, when fresh, I think they'd be nearly perfect. I bought two regular conchas and one filled with jam, and the total came out to $22 with tax. My hope is that day-old conchas could be sold at a discounted rate and/or clearly labeled as such. A quick heads-up would help set expectations, since the texture really does change quite a bit when they're no longer fresh. read more

Visiting from San Diego and added a visit to this cafe to our itinerary because we wanted to support more Latino businesses, but oh my. 1) Decor was beautiful. The cafe was aesthetically elegant and traditional. 2) Coffee was good. We had 2 Mexican mochas-- arguably nothing "special" but good. 3) I've never had a burrito piss me off, but theirs did. $12-13 for a burrito that seemed to be frozen, and so flavorless. This is such a cozy little place! Valentina's is such a gem in the Ballard area! I have ordered twice from here now and it really seems like the staff are newer. The concha la Valentina took me by surprise. The sweet bread is huge! It might be a bit overpriced at $11. But I would say that it is made to share. I have tried the Tulum latte and the habanero latte. As a spicy mocha girl, I wish the habanero latte was spicier. I could barely taste the spice. Not sure if I need to ask for less sweet or more spice in the drink. Now the Tuluum latte, I have no complaints! The coconut shines with the coffee. I will definitely be trying more on the menu! read more

As a Latino, I came here hoping to enjoy even a small taste of Latino culture--but instead, I left disappointed, disgusted, and frankly, a little disturbed. While I wasn't expecting much representation in Ballard, I at least expected decent service and basic cleanliness. Unfortunately, this place failed on both fronts. I waited over 15 minutes for a simple chai tea while multiple customers who arrived after me were served ahead of me. That alone would be enough to raise eyebrows, but what I observed during that wait was far worse. There were clear hygiene issues: employees were using bare hands--no gloves--to wipe down cup rims, and I saw tools being cross-contaminated without cleaning in between. One employee opened a container of simple syrup from the fridge, sniffed it, made a face like it had gone bad--and still placed it on the shelf for use. The counter was cluttered with dirty dishes, and milk was left sitting out unrefrigerated. Drinks were left out so long they began to visibly separate into layers of milk, coffee, and watered-down ice. When I finally got my drink, it was overwhelmingly sweet and completely undrinkable. I tossed it in the trash after one sip. This wasn't just a disappointing experience--it was borderline unsanitary. I absolutely would not recommend this spot, especially to anyone in the Latino community looking for a place that respects our culture or basic standards of service. 10 out of 10 do not recommend. read more

I got the Valencia mocha and it hit a great balance between the chocolate, espresso, and orange flavors, and isn't too sweet. Valentina has been a nice cafe to have for a few reasons. It's open particularly late for Seattle standards so it provided me with a getaway option when I wanted to get away from my roommate's band practice in the evening once. The wifi is good enough for working but it's a little weak for a video chat. The coffee here is good and it's nice to chill in a relaxed ambiance that Valentina's offers. I sometimes get the specialty mocha, which is a lot less sweeter than mochas I've had in other coffee shops. I also sometimes get the mousse cakes whenever they're available. They seem like they are from an Asian pastry shop - it's cute and it's pretty good. Staff is friendly and I always have a good time here. read more
