Place hasn't changed in 20 years, and I sort of like it that way. I used to stop by here after runs at Discovery Park, but nowadays, I'm not in this part of town very often. But I was happy to see that it was still around. You won't find single origin beans with a story, but you will get a strong cup of joe and espresso that tastes like early Seattle :). The place was fairly empty on a recent Saturday afternoon, and it was the perfect spot to kick back in a quiet space. There is also an outdoor patio as well. Would love to come back soon in the near future and also visit their neighbor, fiddlehead brewing!

    Walls and floors not maintained.

Dirty. Walls, floors and counter tops all dirty and not maintained. All things that could be improved via cleaning and better management. Coffee is also consistently burnt tasting. I know it's not the bursitis because I've purchased their beans a few times and got the same burnt taste on my machines. Overall very disappointed, especially due to the potential of the place. It's large, has in house roasting (that needs improvement), and in a cool location...

This cafe transported me back to the shops in my home town of Federal Way. Very classic, second wave, homie style with lots of pastry options and Italian style dark roast coffee. I ordered their espresso which tasted like a classic dark roast with lots of body and chocolate notes, and a sausage egg cheese sandwich which had been sitting for three days but still tasted decent. The retail beans were roasted in house and started at $17 for 12oz. There is lots of seating both inside and outside, baristas were very friendly and offered great service, and there's a very beautiful old roaster that was the centerpiece of the room which really solidified the traditional coffee shop ambiance. Overall, this shop is great for just relaxing, getting work done, and if you're craving a solid dark roast coffee.

I usually come here to hit the drive thru and everyone is always nice. The coffee is on the darker side but inside they also sell lots of different whole bean roasts with grinding. The food options: pastries, breakfast burritos and sandwiches, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, and I believe a protein box. All fresh and appears made in house. The service timing is what you expect for good coffee.

This was their iced green tea lemonade. They need to do better! They need help. Sad, this is Seattle! Please represent our city better!!!

They need to do better!!!!!!!! This is a negative 10 star review. My coffee was also bland and the burrito was cold.

    Perfection!

Really nice baristas and a good location, but unfortunately the coffee was burnt and the pastries bland.

Ordered a hot chocolate and it was not hot and not chocolatey. Something so easy to make and it was a complete fail. Pathetic!

I sat down at a table for just a couple of minutes and a grungy fisherman walked in, sat down at the grand piano, and started playing beautiful music.

Definitely a hopping place at the end of the workday. It's got a darker ambiance and it's cozy. It has indoor, outdoor, and patio seating, though we chose to stay indoor. Pro tip - the poofs make you sit REALLY low. The food choices around 1pm were dismal, and limited. Maybe they'd sold out, or maybe they just don't have a lot there, but nothing even looked fresh enough to warrant purchase. The other thing that killed me was the service. There was one person on the entire 4 hours I was there, and it made for an incredibly slow experience. It was friendly enough, if not a little dismissive. Prices are reasonable and there is paid parking across the street, but take that with a "for Seattle" caveat.

Exposed brick wall and warm tones from the wood furniture makes this shop a cozy third place. A few indoor plants give it a fresh touch. The baristas here are definitely dedicated to their craft! Their drink offerings are standard, although they also have housemade syrups and specialty drinks (seasonal mochas, lattes, etc) if you want to try something different. I love how they highlight their single origin espresso on the menu with the tasting notes. They also offer matcha and teas if you're more into that. I haven't tried any bakery goods, but looking at the pastry case, they're quite popular. Victrola embodies the perfect Seattle coffeehouse- one that I wish people knew more widely rather than the twin tailed siren that's spread globally...

I don't normally drink coffee (I'm more of a tea person, if all the boba and tea shop reviews I…read morewrite don't say anything!), but I'm always up for new experiences, especially ones that allow me to expand my taste horizons and ability to describe flavors and aromas. After booking a tea tasting at a local tea shop, I went around looking for coffee tastings and found Victrola. Every Friday at 11AM, they offer a free tasting class, so we, of course, booked the very next Friday! Arriving at the shop a bit before 11AM, it was pretty full, with most tables taken and a short line of 2-3 people in front of me. We checked in with the cashier and he said the barista was getting things ready. Maybe 5 minutes later, we were led to the room in the back, where the barista introduced the tasting experience and handed us two sheets of paper, one with the anatomy of a coffee cherry, and the other with their coffee flavor wheel. For this week, it was only us two for the tasting, so we had a full monopoly of the barista (according to him, the prior week was 8 people!). We were able to try two coffees - both single origin, one from Guatemala and the other from Colombia. We started by sniffing the beans and grounds, with the Guatemalan emanating notes of lightly roasted peanuts (per tasting notes, it's milk chocolate, orange, and "elegant") and the Colombian with dark soy and umami notes (per tasting notes, it's pineapple, melon, and date), at least to my nose. The barista brewed both via pour over (if I remember correctly, it was 203F water with 20g of the Guatemalan, 24g of the Colombian in 360g of water). I forgot the exact grind sizes he used. Interestingly, the flavor profile of the Colombian was completely different to me between the grounds and the final brew. Very fruity throughout - I'm not that adept at description, but it's definitely a fresher, crisp fruit, not dried fruit, and not red fruit or berries, nor citrus. I'll have to file this one away as pineapple and green apple, per the barista. In terms of mouthfeel, it's thick, almost syrupy, coating the mouth with the fruity flavors. The Guatemalan, on the other hand, is completely different, starting with roasted coffee, then still with the peanut notes, but also adding a caramel-like essence. Very 'brown' on the color wheel. Mouthfeel-wise, thinner, watery like tea. I have never had good quality coffee before and this was certainly an experience that opened my eyes to how good coffee can actually be. I still have a ton of tea leaves to go through, but perhaps when I'm nearing the end, I'll have to start drinking more coffee. Tea, then chocolate, and now maybe coffee? My wallet is crying...
