We were thrilled to discover it's new management's plans and community, service oriented nature - not to mention their excellent breakfast sandwiches and good beverages! Type of cuisine: Cafe fare - espresso beverages, as well as non-caffeinated items for kids and those who prefer not to partake. Breakfast sandwiches, burritos, pastries. Ambiance: Large, expansive and spacious. There is a small patio with outdoor seating available, should you prefer to dine facing Aurora's traffic congestion. But inside, office furniture helps create separte-feeling booth-like seating with small coffee/end tables for your purchases. Large tables, too, conference sized grace the main space for those wishing to work alone on devices, or engage in conversation among friends and family. An open area also exists, accounting for about one-third of the entire room, which allows for gathering while standing, as well as providing ample space for lines to grow and distance to be maintained (covid-safe). What I ordered: On most ever visit, I stick with my favorites: the bacon breakfast sandwich (if you like the bacon crispy, as that it be cooked out of the sandwich and alongside then placed inside), the sweet potato scone, the sausauge breakfast sandwich and the slightly spicy, vegan potato, bean burrito. My beverage of choice is the Melanin Mocha (dark chocolate moch), though I've also ordered the blackberry mocha, and a couple of others. My husband always sticks with The Karen (white chocolate mocha), while our children enjoy a cup of steamed milk with caramel sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles with their food. What I loved: Everything about this place; namely its mission and complete devotion to the youth and community. Definitely a quiet cafe with dim lighting and most people reading, doing laptop work, or with headphones in. I highly enjoyed the outside seating with benches available. You are welcome to bring your cat or dog outside as long as you are respectful and pick up after any accidents or mess. The menu is much more affordable than other nearby coffee shops. A simple menu with an extensive list of syrups. For my first visit I chose a hot hazelnut latte with hemp milk. Coffee was standard and did the job. I also chose a pound cake with chocolate and vanilla which was okay but a little dry. There were ample slots at their parking lot by their facility entrance. Outdoor seating was availble too with the pleasant weather. I joined the short line and was able to see beautiful flowers available for bouquet arrangements. There's also an area for photo ops too. One can peep into their roasting production facility while in line. There was a variety of merch with their new floral design and single origin roasts available for purchase. During the pop up, buy two roasts and get a free tote. Fresh baked goods featured (ham& cheese croissant, pain au chocolat, and a flower cookie) were from Maddy's Bakeshop. I learned that the Kuma coffee beans sold at my local Town & Country Market in Shoreline are blends. Single origin roasts are available from specific cafes, their Interbay/Magnolia production site, and of course, their online business site. I selected an Ethiopian roast (12oz, $25.75) and cortado to go. I resisted getting another savory pastry from Maddy's Bakeshop since I just ate one yesterday at another indie cafe in Ballard. I enjoyed seeing the cross pollination amongst local, indie businesses and stopping by Kuma Coffee's pop up this morning.
