We've lived here for years and I cannot believe it took us this long to try Cardoon. What a GEM!!!…read more The interior is cozy, fun, and relaxed. It's definitely one of those places that immediately makes you want to settle in and stay awhile (and we had no power so, we certainly did!). Everything we ordered was delicious, and the drinks were super unique and incredibly smooth. But I NEED to talk about the rose cookie. I have literally been dreaming about it. No exaggeration. It was that good. Perfectly delicate, fragrant, and memorable in a way that makes you immediately want another one. The service was lovely, the atmosphere was great, and the food and drinks were outstanding. Truly such an incredible spot and I'm already looking forward to going back. There was also a special Makeworth espresso shot that tasted like watermelon SO unique, do try it if you're into adventurous espresso!

Both were ready pretty quickly. The chai was spicy and not too sweet which I really liked. The egg sandwich was yummy too. Thick egg filling, with the chili sauce went well together. Pickles were a little too salty for me especially just to eat on the side. I guess you could put it inside the sandwich? But still, quite salty. Service was super friendly and welcoming, would definitely come again to try more of their seasonal drinks and food. A cocktail here sounds interesting as well!

Pardon the half-eaten food pictures, we got so excited to dig in that we completely forgot to take photos beforehand. The ambiance is lovely, and the staff was warm and friendly. They don't take reservations for brunch, so you order first and then find a seat. The staff was very helpful in guiding us to a table that fit our group size. Overall, a wonderful brunch experience, and I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

We found this café while looking for a quick lunch on our way from our apartment to Ballard Locks…read more As it turned out, it was also on my son's recommendation list, so we were happy to give it a try. The charming outdoor seating immediately caught our attention and made for a relaxing lunch spot. We ordered the Café Mezze Plate, Shakshuka, and Mushroom Toast--more food than the two of us would normally order, but since it was our first visit, we wanted to sample a variety of dishes. The Café Mezze Plate came with an assortment of mezze, including hummus, whipped feta, roasted eggplant, green tahini, marinated olives, cucumber and turmeric cauliflower pickles, along with house-made pita and pita chips. It was fun to try so many different flavors, although the portions felt a bit small for the $36 price tag. The Shakshuka was flavorful but a little spicy for my daughter, though I enjoyed it. It came with two perfectly cooked eggs and two pieces of house-made pita. At $18, it was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. We couldn't finish the Mushroom Toast, so we took it home and had it the next day. It actually reheated very well and still tasted delicious. Overall, this café has a lovely atmosphere, especially the outdoor seating, making it a great place to gather with friends. The food was enjoyable, but the prices felt a bit on the high side for what was served. I'd be open to coming back if I were in the area, though it wouldn't be at the top of my recommendation list.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! Buttery flaky layers of dough with a strong earthy mushroom flavor and savory cheese - an absolute umami bomb. We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. Definitely coming back for the mushroom and Gruyère pastry and to try their other delicious flavors. Their supreme croissant flavor switches often and we can't wait to try the next one! One of the best bakeries I've been to in Seattle so far.

I originally planned to just grab a coffee and a croissant, but after noticing how popular the mushroom Gruyere croissant seemed, I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. It was incredibly delicious, perfectly filling, and even better when warmed up. The staff member kindly offered to heat it for me, which really elevated the whole experience. While they serve Umbria coffee, which isn't my personal favorite, the food more than made up for it. The service was warm and friendly, and the overall vibe was welcoming. I'll definitely be back to try the mushroom croissant again or maybe explore some of their other pastries next time.
