Place hasn't changed in 20 years, and I sort of like it that way. I used to stop by here after runs at Discovery Park, but nowadays, I'm not in this part of town very often. But I was happy to see that it was still around. You won't find single origin beans with a story, but you will get a strong cup of joe and espresso that tastes like early Seattle :). The place was fairly empty on a recent Saturday afternoon, and it was the perfect spot to kick back in a quiet space. There is also an outdoor patio as well. Would love to come back soon in the near future and also visit their neighbor, fiddlehead brewing!

Walls and floors not maintained.

Dirty. Walls, floors and counter tops all dirty and not maintained. All things that could be improved via cleaning and better management. Coffee is also consistently burnt tasting. I know it's not the bursitis because I've purchased their beans a few times and got the same burnt taste on my machines. Overall very disappointed, especially due to the potential of the place. It's large, has in house roasting (that needs improvement), and in a cool location...

Roaster

This cafe transported me back to the shops in my home town of Federal Way. Very classic, second wave, homie style with lots of pastry options and Italian style dark roast coffee. I ordered their espresso which tasted like a classic dark roast with lots of body and chocolate notes, and a sausage egg cheese sandwich which had been sitting for three days but still tasted decent. The retail beans were roasted in house and started at $17 for 12oz. There is lots of seating both inside and outside, baristas were very friendly and offered great service, and there's a very beautiful old roaster that was the centerpiece of the room which really solidified the traditional coffee shop ambiance. Overall, this shop is great for just relaxing, getting work done, and if you're craving a solid dark roast coffee.

I usually come here to hit the drive thru and everyone is always nice. The coffee is on the darker side but inside they also sell lots of different whole bean roasts with grinding. The food options: pastries, breakfast burritos and sandwiches, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, and I believe a protein box. All fresh and appears made in house. The service timing is what you expect for good coffee.

This was their iced green tea lemonade. They need to do better! They need help. Sad, this is Seattle! Please represent our city better!!!

They need to do better!!!!!!!! This is a negative 10 star review. My coffee was also bland and the burrito was cold.

Perfection!

I was so excited to try the lava cookie as a lover or all things chocolate, but wasn't a huge fan of the cardamom. I think the pungent flavour definitely added a unique juxtaposition to the rich chocolate, but to me it was too reminiscent of taking the wrong bite of biryani and having to spit out a mouthful of spices. Thankfully my date had no such qualms and loved finishing my cookie for me! The crunchy crisp was his favourite part and he cleared the plate. My mocha was exceptional though, I loved the creamy texture of the milk and how perfectly the chocolate was incorporated into the drink! It was perfect until the last drop. My date also loved his latte and practically chugged the whole thing down! As a lover of Pokemon I especially adored all the decor, it was so cool seeing all the fun Pokemon cards and I just love the fun vibes and atmosphere of this spot!

Both were ready pretty quickly. The chai was spicy and not too sweet which I really liked. The egg sandwich was yummy too. Thick egg filling, with the chili sauce went well together. Pickles were a little too salty for me especially just to eat on the side. I guess you could put it inside the sandwich? But still, quite salty. Service was super friendly and welcoming, would definitely come again to try more of their seasonal drinks and food. A cocktail here sounds interesting as well!

I started off with an Iced Americano (very solid) and later got the Lamb Pita with an Aperol Spritz. The pita was well-sized, fresh, and the cucumbers on the side perfectly complimented the meal. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Highly recommend the visit!

On entering, it has a beautiful Mediterranean ambience: 10/10. My friends and I got a table outside, which was also very aesthetic. I ordered Chicken Shawarma Pita. The food is delicious (and ingredients are super fresh), just the quantity was less. Also ordered latte: which was good. However, I really liked Seville Latte, which my friend had ordered: it had hints of orange and chocolate. Only thing I didn't quite like it I got my coffee in a to-go cup while my friend got a special cup for his Seville Latte (I need my coffee in a proper cup if I am dining in: its all part of the experience, ain't it :D ) Anyway, the service was a bit slow, but the cafe was packed (seemed like quite a popular brunch spot, and expectedly so).

The foam was so deliciously creamy. I loved the lemon flavor, and it worked well with the matcha. I think they could have done a little more lemon, but I always think that. There is ample amounts of seating, so you can choose to take your goodies or eating them inside. I went in the early afternoon, so there wasn't any line, but I am sure if you went at brunch time, it would be a whole different story. This place is great! We arrived around 1:30pm on a Saturday which was the perfect time because we stepped right up to the counter, ordered, and found a table without waiting. I started off with the Zucchini Bread with Cardamom (no dairy, yay!). It was moist, just the right amount of sweetness, and delicious. Wish it had a stronger pop of cardamom, but I'd still definitely order it again. My hubs had the Ginger Scone which brought back sweet memories for him of going to the now-no-longer Cafe Besalu on 24th Ave NW and getting their famous ginger biscuit. He said this scone was just as good. Then we shared a whole rotisserie chicken (2 drumsticks with attached thighs, 2 chicken breasts with attached wings) that came with a salsa verde, lemon crema, and a spice mix. The fresh salsa verde was a beautiful condiment for the crispy and juicy chicken. We ate our fill and took one breast and wing home. Would order this dish again. Our cashier was friendly. The atmosphere while we ate was peaceful because of our timing. I can imagine it might be noisier at busy times. The cafe/restaurant has a gourmet foods, grab & go foods, and wine shop combined with it, which we browsed through after we ate. Might come here for some pulled rotisserie chicken to go if we just need some easy protein on a busy day. Super convenient option. Now that we've eaten here, I can see why so many people like Mainstay Provisions, and I really hope it's a mainstay in Ballard for many years to come.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. Definitely coming back for the mushroom and Gruyère pastry and to try their other delicious flavors. Their supreme croissant flavor switches often and we can't wait to try the next one! We were thrilled to discover it's new management's plans and community, service oriented nature - not to mention their excellent breakfast sandwiches and good beverages! Type of cuisine: Cafe fare - espresso beverages, as well as non-caffeinated items for kids and those who prefer not to partake. Breakfast sandwiches, burritos, pastries. Ambiance: Large, expansive and spacious. There is a small patio with outdoor seating available, should you prefer to dine facing Aurora's traffic congestion. But inside, office furniture helps create separte-feeling booth-like seating with small coffee/end tables for your purchases. Large tables, too, conference sized grace the main space for those wishing to work alone on devices, or engage in conversation among friends and family. An open area also exists, accounting for about one-third of the entire room, which allows for gathering while standing, as well as providing ample space for lines to grow and distance to be maintained (covid-safe). What I ordered: On most ever visit, I stick with my favorites: the bacon breakfast sandwich (if you like the bacon crispy, as that it be cooked out of the sandwich and alongside then placed inside), the sweet potato scone, the sausauge breakfast sandwich and the slightly spicy, vegan potato, bean burrito. My beverage of choice is the Melanin Mocha (dark chocolate moch), though I've also ordered the blackberry mocha, and a couple of others. My husband always sticks with The Karen (white chocolate mocha), while our children enjoy a cup of steamed milk with caramel sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles with their food. What I loved: Everything about this place; namely its mission and complete devotion to the youth and community. Empowerment is strong in this space and the food and drinks are a bonus that amplify and support the work being done. Why I loved it: For all of the reasons listed above - and more. Cost: Average
