Really cool lunch place in Madison Park! Had the tri salad option. The French lentils with.goat cheese, heirloom tomatoes bread, cauliflower salad all delicious. Added the goddess chicken on the side and was a terrific lunch!

Cute neighborhood cafe with a full case of freshly baked goods to greet you when you walk through the door. No indoor seating, but they have a covered seating area with overhead space heaters outside, which was much appreciated on this near-freezing morning I visited. I ordered a 12 oz mocha and was pleased that it was not overly sweet or too piping hot to sip on as I enjoyed my strawberry scone. Unlike many scones I've had elsewhere, this one wasn't dense, but rather airy and moist on the inside. I loved that they used fresh strawberries, and the course sugar on top added a pleasantly sweet crunch to every bite. Prices were a bit steep (almost $10 for coffee and a pastry) but reasonable in light of inflation and the quality and portion size. And I much prefer supporting a local bakery than a large chain coffee shop.

If you ever want a thanksgiving meal that is out of this world good...try it here! This business delivers the results. Order in advance and pick up the day before thanksgiving. Do yourself a favor and order a pie for dessert, homemade with love. . I have a photo of one of our plates with the food.

Breakfast sandwich on sourdough. I added cheddar cheese.

This review is long overdue. I just had the greatest breakfast sandwich I've had in a long time. The food is always super fresh and tasty. The staff are always so nice. Ice water station always fully stocked and a great little seating area outside.

One of the best coffee shops in the area! I've traveled all over the country, this place makes you feel right at home. Very professional and could not ask for better service. First day I was here, Ali and Jess were working. These ladies make an awesome team among with the crew in the back. The one place on my trip I did not mind spending all my money. This place is the best way to start your day, all the food is made to order with fresh ingredients. If I ever win the lottery, I want to purchase this place. I was hooked on the cookies and the deli. Best café latte ever. Keep up the good work and I'll be back

What a cute place!!! Loved the inside and all it had to offer. The staff was super helpful and they have a rotating menu with items behind the glass to take home. They were quick with taking orders and their coffee was delicious. Would definitely come back if the opportunity presented itself.

I came in and asked for the discount and was informed that this was no longer in place. The man behind the register then looked at me and probably saw the exhaustion in my eyes of working 80/hr per week in the hospital for minimum wage and gave me a cup of matzo ball soup for free anyways. He didn't have to do that and it was such a kind and generous offer. What a genuine and caring establishment. Also that matzo ball soup was better than my Jewish grandmother's! Bonus: this spot is kosher! Potato Latkes (5/5): These latkes are thick boys and fried up so they're piping hot when they hit the table. Because of their size, you really get the contrast of the hard crunch on the outside with super fluffy potato inside. So good we immediately turned around and ordered more. Chocolate Babka (2/5): This was truly the only miss I've had here. Unfortunately, the babka just really dries out after it's been sliced, which is a shame because it's just gorgeous with generous swirls of chocolate inside. Reuben (5/5): I really thought their pastrami couldn't be beat, but the brisket is dare I say better? Just as tender and feels a bit less fatty, so it's a little more crushable. Tip: go for the seeded rye over the marbled rye; something about the marbled rye just falls apart a bit more with the juices of the meat, though it's still delicious! Black & White Cookies (4/5): I expected this to be cloyingly sweet, but this was actually scrumptious with some fresh lemon flavor in the cookie itself. Absolutely massive as well.

They had everything I would expect at a grocery store, but much more curated, which makes shopping easier. It really takes the cognitive load off to not have to compare seventeen different brands/sizes/prices. They had a nice selection of meal kits (four person dinner for ~$65, and 2 person meals for ~$45), cheeses, frozen goodies (ice cream, Hello Robbin cookies, chicken pot pie), and produce. I probably wouldn't do a regular full grocery shopping here for my whole family, but I can see myself stopping by for last minute ingredients, goodies for gatherings and picnics, and meals to go. The Kitchen & Market - Madison Valley location is located between Bar Cantinetta and Cafe Flora. It has a limited parking lot and adjacent street parking. I briefly toured the retail shop glancing at all the displays, but exercising restraint. This is truly a high quality, grab and go, treat yourself (+family & friends) neighborhood bodega. I wanted to also compare this site with my visit & experience at the Pike Place Market location. I stopped by the showcase table to sample and savor the meatball, parmesan crisp, and chocolate chip cookie samples provided by a very personable individual. I ended up buying a tub of their pomodoro sauce (same sauce used with meatball sample) and a roast beef sandwich. The latter was savored down by Lake Washington at the Madison Park Beach. Delicious sandwich, would have been perfection if one bread slice was not soggy due to the contents. But the wrapper helped and had napkins in my car. Pomodoro sauce was used with premium al dente radiatore pasta. This yielded a flavorful dish for dinner. I like the concept for pret a porter/meal kit ideas. Price point not for every budget though, however, one is paying for high quality and well curated items. Current sites are located at Seattle's Pike Place Market, Mercer Island (will return after fire damage renovation), Bellevue/Medina, and this new Seattle/Madison Valley site. Future locations will be in Yarrow Bay/Kirkland and Seattle/Eastlake. Minus one star due to soggy bread, challenging parking situation, and ignored twice waiting to pay at the register. Note: Card payment at the register area, no cash accepted.

Today I tried their house-made pistachio paste latte with oat milk -- and wow. Perfect for someone like me who prefers coffee-forward drinks over sugar bombs. The pistachio flavor was rich, subtle, and beautifully balanced with the espresso. And the Americano? Spot on. Velvety, smooth, deep, and incredibly well-crafted. There's a reason this place is always busy, packed, and has a line out the door. I ended up going a classic pork katsu sandwich and made it a combo where I got some fries as well. It was a decently busy day, but they made sure to get the food out to us at a reasonable time. Although we didn't dine in, I did want to note that the inside was nice! There were seating options inside and outside. The inside had simple but fun decorations and even had a mini claw machine as well. Now the food. It was so good! The sandwich flavors blended perfectly! We ordered a pork sando, a chicken sando, Takoyaki, and a couple of beers. The only difference between all the sandos is your choice of meat; otherwise, they're identical. If there's one universal truth about sandwiches, it's that the messier they are, the better the flavor. Daruma's sandos are delicious and potentially catastrophically messy for sloppy eaters like me -- as my shirt can attest. I'm not a food critic or a food writer and I don't pretend to be, which means I'm not going to break down each recipe and assign it a numerical score that means nothing. Here's my scale: Is the sando flavorful? Yep, very. Did I eat the entire thing? Sure did -- nearly inhaled it. Did it put a smile on my face? Also yes. The Takoyaki were super flavorful and rich, though the texture may be an issue for some -- a semi-firm shell with a pudding-like interior. Overall, loved Daruma and will absolutely be going back.
