Nicely located by the gas work park makes it a great picnic food! Although a bit of a wait, it was made to order! Nice size of katsu chicken, but taking to-go may make the wrapping a bit soggy from the heat and condensation, so recommend eating as soon as possible!

Came here on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it was busy and popular that day. The line moved quickly and we ordered on a tablet, there's some seating inside and limited outside seating which is great for the warmer days ahead. I got the pork katsu sando and the matcha soft serve. The ice cream had a good matcha flavor and was sugary enough that my friend who doesn't care for matcha liked it enough to take a few bites. The restaurant is next to Gasworks park so we took our food over there to look at the view and picnic. The sandwich is juicy, has cabbage which cuts the fat and the standard tonkatsu sauce on it which gave it that flavor. 8/10, def recommend if you're in the area.

Favorite sandos in Seattle! Tasty pork katsu sando, ebi mayo. Also tried the menchi katsu sando, but preferred the pork katsu and ebi mayo. Sandos are flavorful, freshly made with premium ingredients, well composed. Recommend stopping by Daruma to pick up a treat!

The place was a cute vibe, its self serve ordering and you buss yourself too, kind of sucks because people will be more prone not to tip which sucks for the employees. The flavor was great but the sandwiches weren't as crispy as I thought it would be. The even on the pork curry bowl the katsu was real soft and the breading didn't stick . Kind of disappointed.

The katsu sandwiches were yummy; flavorful sauce and a good portion of meat. However, while the breading on our chicken katsu sandwich was crispy, the pork katsu sandwich was soggy. In addition, the pork katsu sandwich came out cold (despite dining in), whereas the chicken katsu sandwich was still warm. You order at a kisok by the door. There are tables inside for indoor seating. When your food is ready, you pick them out at the counter. After your meal, you bus your own dishes.

We were craving some katsu sandos for dinner and headed to Daruma, a newer spot serving katsu in sandwiches and curries, and huge mugs of Sapporo. We went on a rainy evening so there was street parking available across the street. You order on a kiosk and food comes out fairly quickly. We got the pork katsu sando, pork katsu curry, and a side of spice fries. The sando is on the saucy side but makes for a satisfying meal combined with the fries. The spice fries are perfectly crunchy and definitely have a kick! The real star of the show was the katsu curry. The flavor was SO good - deep umami flavor just as good as the curries we've had in Japan. Paired with fluffy, chewy rice, sweet pickled onions, and crispy katsu. The perfect bite - sooo yummy! We talked to one of the co-owners and learned they get their rice straight from Hokkaido! I can tell they put a lot of passion into this and it shows. Friendly service and delicious, authentic food. We will definitely be back often and can't wait for sunnier days where we can take our sandos outside and have a picnic!

Excellent food! Loved the pork sando, would definitely return again. There is a kiosk to order from inside but wish they had more than one kiosks. You can order online ahead of time as well. The credit card swipe on the kiosk does not seem to work, person in front of me had the same problem, but eventually realized there's a tap option on the side. It's a little small inside so tables were almost filled but also a couple tables outside. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

This place opened after I got back from Japan. My friend wanted to go after experiencing the sandos in Japan. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations since Japan sets the bar so high for food. The place wasn't too hard to find, but you can easily miss it if you aren't paying attention. It's tucked away in a corner of the building. It's not a very big place, but it's a good size for a quick lunch. Ordering was through the kiosk and the food came out in a timely manner. The fried stuff seemed to be made fresh. For the food, we got the oyako (tamago/chicken katsu) sando and the Tokyo-style ebi sando combos with nori shio and spice fries. We tried the oyako sando first. The tamago had the perfect texture balance. Not too creamy, not too chunky. The chicken katsu was served hot. It was crispy and tender. The tamago could've used a little more sugar to let it pop because I think the chicken kinda took over in terms of flavor. This sando would probably better separate than together. I didn't like mixing the cold tamago with the hot katsu (just a personal preference). I would've enjoyed much more if the tamago was warmer, but it was still pretty good overall. Next was the Tokyo-style ebi sando. Now this sando really impressed me. It was hot, crispy, and full flavor. I'm not a fan of slaw but it went so well with the ebi and the sauce just binds all the flavors together. This sando alone is worth going back for. The fries were alright. I enjoyed the nori shio fries. I think they could've used more seasoning or some salt. It went very well with the spicy mayo. The spice fries had a bit too much seasoning. Flavor was good but the seasoning overpowered the fries and you couldn't really taste anything else. Neither sauce went well with it. The only problem I had with this place was that the soda machine was out of CO2, so all the soda was VERY flat. But that's an easy fix and hopefully will be different next time. Overall I'm actually kinda impressed how good the sandos were. Pretty decent value at about $20 per person for a meal. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

I was excited to try this spot out after a friend said we should try it out! It's a nice spot that's a bit tucked away but conveniently close to Gasworks park, so it's a great place to stop by if you plan on hanging out there. When entering, we were greeted by the staff, even though ordering is done through a kiosk. That was appreciated. I ended up going a classic pork katsu sandwich and made it a combo where I got some fries as well. It was a decently busy day, but they made sure to get the food out to us at a reasonable time. Although we didn't dine in, I did want to note that the inside was nice! There were seating options inside and outside. The inside had simple but fun decorations and even had a mini claw machine as well. Now the food. It was so good! The sandwich flavors blended perfectly! The fries were a good addition as well with my favorite part being the nori that's added into it. I WILL be back and ready to try out the other things they have to offer!

The ipad at the front makes ordering very convenient, but I would strongly recommend ordering online before coming! The rate at which the sandwhiches were being made was unfortunately quite slow when I was there. There was a lot of people in the store but 80% didn't have their food yet as the kitchen doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the popularity yet... When we got the sandwhich, presentation wise it looks very pretty! Flavor wise it is quite underwhelming, I think adding more flavorful toppings into it like pickled daikon could really build on the complexity there. The bread was also quite soggy and sort of... pathetically thin... I'll be back to try some of their other sandwhiches, hoping that I just got unlucky and will get some toasty crunchy bread next time!! Overall though, quite disappointed and decently overhyped. Parking is manageable here though!

I had been wanting to try this place for a bit so finally got a chance to, and I'm so very glad that I did. The staff was wonderful, the food was fresh and delicious. Not many places serve traditional Japanese style curry katsu so I was pleasantly surprised and it brought back memories. A must for chicken katsu curry lovers.

Wow , these are some yummy Sandos, the egg is the star , simple yet delicious, chicken katsu delicious as well . It's order on a kiosk, but it was quick. Cool vibe w/ small bar area . Definitely will come back again.

Been seeing this place all over Instagram so I had to stop in to try it out. Ordering is done via a tablet located near the entrance, and everything else (eg seating, drinks, utensils) is all self serve. I came in with a few friends right at opening at 5pm, so it was pretty empty and we were able to grab a table. There wasn't a whole lot of seating here, maybe 5-6 tables and some bar seating, so maybe not great for a larger group. I got the chicken katsu sando and opted for the combo which comes with your choice of fries and a drink. I chose the spice fries option - it definitely had a kick to it and wasn't that pleasing for my mouth, will be opting for the nori one next time. The sando was good! Super saucy and somewhat messy to eat. Portion sizes were decent and filling as well. Sauces were somewhat of a miss for me, don't feel like it added much flavor to the sando or fries. Will be back to try the curry next time.

Front entrance is down a few steps. 2 outside tables and a small park just up the hill or Gas Works park very close by.

When we visited on a Saturday for lunch at noon, the place was completely packed. The owner gave us an estimated 30 minute wait time, which steadily increased to over 45 minutes by the time we got our food 25 minutes later. I think this scared away a lot of people so it started to clear out soon afterwards. The restaurant is small and cramped with about 20 seats in a really tiny space with barely any room to move. It's completely self service; order at the kiosk, pick up food and utensils from the counter, then bus the table after finishing. Pork Katsu Soup Curry, Spicy Level 4 ($24) - The entree comes with two dishes, one with the rice, tonkatsu, and a slice of lemon, the other with the curry soup. The rice approaches being mushy, not giving the best mouthfeel. The tonkatsu isn't great either. It has a thick breading that's only fried until very slightly crisp on the outermost layer, with the rest of the breading becoming gummy and unpleasant. The pork isn't dried off that well before being breaded, so the crust detaches without much effort. The pork itself is fine; it's thinly pounded, not super overcooked or tough. Neither the pork nor the breading is seasoned much, if at all, so both are bland. Things improve when switching over to the soup curry. The soup has a concentrated savory curry flavor, filled with salt and curry spices with just a hint of tanginess to round things out. At spicy level 4, it's barely spicy at all, barely heating up the mouth at all. They actually deep fry veggies to order with the dish - in this case, a whole potato (probably par baked first), some eggplant, and broccoli. This gives a nice crust on the outside, which also helps them retain some texture in the soup. The potato, unfortunately, isn't cooked all the way through; the thickest part of the interior still is a bit hard with a raw potato taste. The curry also comes with two shishito peppers and a simply boiled quarter carrot. I got unlucky (or perhaps lucky?) getting one of the rare spicy shishitos, which turned out way more spicy than the broth. (4/5) Aojiru Beef Brisket Soup Curry, Spicy Level 2 ($24) - I think the base is the same, but is modified by adding a bunch of pureed green, and the substitution of tomatoes and cilantro for fried broccoli. The result? A much more vegetal tasting curry. There's no bitterness to be had here. For some reason, this curry at spice level 2 is more spicy than the other one at spice level 4. Still not very spicy at all, but it's definitely inconsistent. Instead of tonkatsu, this comes with four pieces of slowly stewed beef brisket. It's excellent, with both fatty and lean pieces, all the toughness cooked out by hours upon hours of being stewed. I would definitely choose the beef brisket over the katsu in the future. (4/5) Curry Lab Sapporo serves some warm and comforting food. While their food definitely has some issues, they still bring a flavorful and unique dish to the Seattle area. I'd visit again to try more. Bathrooms - Single unisex room.

Around 20 minutes before closing, our waiter started hovering, asking if he could clear plates, ginger, and wasabi bowls. This happened at least four times between him and another staff member. At one point my boyfriend was asked if he was finished with his ginger, and even though he wanted more, he felt too pressured to say so and just said yes. The third or fourth time around, I told our waiter he was rushing us and that it wasn't nice. He apologized, then immediately grabbed more items off our table instead of giving us space. A few minutes later, someone started mopping the dining room with a strong-smelling cleaner while we were still trying to eat, which killed what was left of our appetite. I understand that restaurants close at a certain time, but hovering over us, constantly asking to clear plates while we're still eating, and mopping the dining room floor all before the restaurant is even closed, is beyond me. I went in during dinner time on a Sunday and the place was like 85% full. Service was still prompt. But in the end I realized I just want ramen noodles whether it's hot or cold so decided to try something new! The seasonal citrus shio hiyashi was a hit! The noodle remained chewy the whole time because it wasn't in a hot broth, which was the exact texture I wanted from ramens. The jalapeño sauce on the side was pretty spicy so I only put a bit in the ramen half way, but it was a good way to switch things up. And it's not like freezing cold so you have no worries of freezing your butt off from eating it on a breezy summer day in Seattle. I highly recommend giving it a try for something new! I was also impressed with the service. I ordered nitamago with my ramen in the beginning and it never came. I noticed the egg was missing when I was half finished with my dish, but I was getting full so I thought I'll skip it for now and just inquire about it when I ask for check.
