Went here at like 8 in the morning on a thursday, it was decently busy with a few groups there. The vibe of the place is nice, it has a corner spot so lots of windows and open space for people to sit. We inquired if they would heat up our ham and cheese croissant but they said they don't hear anything up which is a minus for us. Overall for the food and everything tho I wouldn't come back, everything was just ok. Ham and cheese croissant - 6.5. Not warm, it was very hearty. Lots of ham. Liked the cheese on top of it. It might've had mustard seeds on it which I liked Cinnamon roll 5/10. It had raisins which was nice but it was just kinda mushy overall.

Went with some co workers to get lunch to go and ended up with a box of pastries in addition to lunch. Turkey and chutney sandwich was delicious. Light and flavorful yet filling. Bread was perfect. Oatmeal cookie was wonderfully soft and chewy. Staff was friendly, patient and accommodating.

My friend visiting from out of town LOVES this place and was insistent that we go. After two visits I found that everything was OK. My Mocha was hot and chocolatey but not quite on par with a handful of other coffee shops I favor. On my follow up visit my latte was very good. I've had a couple croissants from here and they are hot and flaky, definitely has to be some of their best offerings here. Sausage egg biscuit is pretty good too, the biscuits are big. The Bacon Egg and cheese croissant was pretty good, again hot and flaky but lacked a bit on the bacon. I tried some of my friend's almond croissant and while good, I found it to be a bit too sweet. Service is decent. They hand you a buzzer that goes off when your order is ready. Ambience good, spacious compared to most coffee shops around town. Biggest gripe, it's expensive here. The 2 croissants and mocha and I believe a matcha for my last visit was over $30. So, if you come, be prepared for Grand Central level prices otherwise, not bad. 3.5/5

This is my favorite GCB located in the Wallingford neighborhood. Their baked goods are solid. On this visit I got the Blue Ribbon sandwich with roast beef, pickled onions and blue cheese mayo, which was delicious! Honestly, anything sandwiched between fresh baked bread is gonna be awesome. I also got the marionberry coffeecake & a 12 oz drip coffee. They have unlimited refills on coffee, so ... I ran my errand nearby and came back for a refill! Staff are friendly and this location has a chill vibe.

    Sausage Egg Biscuit

Ordered an iced matcha, sausage egg biscuit, and a chocolate croissant. The croissant was like biting into a fluffy cloud, I loved it. However their sausage egg biscuit had decent flavor but definitely could have used some kind of sauce as it was pretty dry and a bit bland without it. The espresso machine was sadly broken when I went in and their matcha was okay. Not the best but not the worst. Definitely would come back for another croissant! Overall vibe: 3.5/5 - nice amount of seating but minimal decor / vibes. Chocolate croissant: 4/5 - would've been 4.5 if they heated it up a bit. Sausage egg biscuit: 2.5/5 - a bit boring & dry. Matcha: 3/5 - good for a caffeine boost but forgettable.

Really good place for breakfast or a snack. Their Chai Latte is amazing! Just the right amount of sweetness . The coffee cake is really good. And their cheddar egg biscuit was FANTASTIC! The biscuit was cooked so well (great vegetarian option). I think the sausage egg biscuit would've been better, but they only have pork sausage (no beef or veggie sausage). Their bread is also really good. And they have a bunch of little desserts.

I've heard mixed reviews about some items, but I've been impressed with their almond croissants (4.5/5 stars) and sourdough bread (5/5 stars) every time that I have gone!

Fresh pastries with nice atmosphere. I love coming to Grand Central Bakery for fresh-out-the-oven pastries in the morning with a cup of coffee. Staff are friendly but it could take a while if you order a grilled sandwich.

got the Notorious PIG sandwich and the Buttermilk Biscuit while I was here…read more Starting with the sandwich, there were a ton of things to love about this The very first thing I noticed was how all-time crispy the pork belly was. Interestingly, the meat came in two separate pieces, arranges somewhat like an X or a cross in the middle of the sandwich. This certainly wasn't the eating experience of a typical sandwich with a circular meat patty, and I appreciate the creativity here. The meat was insanely crunchy, oily, and quite plentiful. Each bite felt a bit like you were biting into a crunchy churro, but without the sweetness. I did think the outside of the pork did overpower the inside, though, as I didn't taste the meat or the fat inside much, and due to the amount of breading the pieces ended up being a bit chewy The bun was quite good as well - it was pretty soft, fluffy, and served as a really good bookend to all the ingredients inside. I thought the lettuce and onions also were good. I don't know if I'm a fan of the jelly on the sandwich - but again, I do like the creativity. What did shine here was the aioli, however. In a lot of places, you don't really taste the aioli on a burger - but that flavor was ever-present on this sandwich, and it was really fantastic. The absolute best part of the meal, by far, though, was the biscuit I have to start with how huge this is. This is certainly not the size of a typical Southern-style buttermilk biscuit - rather this biscuit makes no apologies in its effort to stand out from the crowd. Absolutely nobody would mistake this for a traditional biscuit - on the contrary, I think on first glance most people would assume this isn't a biscuit at all. It's shaped more like a massive pastry. I hesitate to say that looks are deceiving, because it does look great, but its taste manages to elevate past that. This was SO good. The edges are baked perfectly - they're oily, crispy, crunchy, and perfectly flaky. All four sides provide an amazing base - like the walls of a fortress that surround the soft, tender interior of the biscuit. You can see the different layers from the outside as well. When it comes to the inside, there was so much to get through but every bite was heavenly. So much credit here goes to the honey butter - which when spread onto the biscuit, raises the taste level of the entire thing. I put so much honey butter on mine that I nearly finished the whole thing. When it came to the jam, it was good, but since it didn't combine great with the honey butter I mostly ended up just using the latter This place was expensive - around 16 dollars for the sandwich and 8 for the biscuit - however, I was quite full at the end

However, today may have been an off day for the team and there were a few new faces. After a long day of work, I just wanted grab food and go home. I ordered takeout for my family's dinner tonight, and unfortunately, the portion sizes were inconsistent. The beef curry and chicken curry were only half-full containers, and the three large orders of rice were also barely half-full. Additionally, the spring rolls appeared fresh, but their quality was questionable. It may have been an off day, and certainly a couple of new staff. However, it was disappointing considering the usual quality of their food and price point. Before writing this review, I had already prepared the curries in a pan. Therefore, they are not pictured. My family noticed them before I reheated the dish, and subsequently, I reviewed the order and decided to share my thoughts.

Oh, and a vodka lemonade - you can get cocktails delivered via DoorDash! Everything was super good, especially the chili cheese dog. They were really generous with the chili (a full cup of it) and it was delicious. The lemonade is made from scratch and I really enjoyed that, as well - not too sweet. When we did takeout, we each got a sandwich, and we also got a Chicago dog, "chum bucket" w/ tots, and a handful of cocktails. I'd had kind of a bad week and was basically like, I don't even care, let's just get whatever we want even if it's an insane amount of stuff, haha. They do single serving craft cocktails for takeout in little cans, which is pretty cool. And they were SO GOOD (all with very clever nautical-themed names). I think our favorite was the "No Ship Sherlock" seasonal Moscow mule. The Chicago dog was amazing - based on this and my previous chili cheese dog, I can say without hesitation that their hotdogs are 100% 10/10. The "chum bucket" tots were also really good, and again came with a very generous full cup of chili. I hate to say it because everything else was so good, but the sandwiches were pretty disappointing for the price, we both thought. I had a tuna sandwich and my bf had a veggie sandwich. They used fresh, quality ingredients, but both sandwiches were kind of bland, and a lot smaller than we were expecting for $14 apiece. That's the only reason I dropped a star, but aside from that, they are 5 star all the way. So, we would not revisit the sandwiches, but hotdogs and cocktails HELL YES YES YES!! Anything involving the chili is also highly recommended. And although I didn't really go into detail about it, chicken tenders were good, too (there were more in there than what the photo shows) - crispy and well-seasoned, and more than what I was expecting.

We tried the promo Oyako Sando(egg salad and Chicken Katsu together) sandwich. It's a honker of a sando, messy, hope you like mayo, katsu wasn't as crisp as I liked, bread does get a bit soggy at the end, napkins are your friend. We also tried the regular Pork Katsu Sando. Same here, wasn't as crisp as we thought it would be, pork was ok too, pretty classic sandwich. Made these into combos, which comes with a choice of fries and a drink. You get to choose your seasoning on the fries, we got one Nori and Spice style. Combo comes with a fountain drink, or pay a little extra for a bottled drink. FYI: They go heavy on the seasoning for your fries. You get a choice of dipping sauce, we chose their Katsu sauce and the spicy mayo. Another FYI: Spice fries with spicy mayo gets a little heavy in your mouth with the spice. Don't forget to clear your own table when you are done. Prices are about $20/person if you get a combo.
