Staff was nice. Cute small coffee place. Went in to get a couple slices of cake for dessert. Got the gingerbread lingonberry and chocolate forest cakes. Worst cake ever. It could be flavor anything and it would be ruined by how dry the cake is.

We came in to try and find a cake for an event. This small bakery is so cute. We came at the end of the day but they still had a good selection of pastries and cakes. The service was great. They were able to answer our questions and assist us in ordering a cake. And the cake was pretty and delicious!! When I am in town again, I would love to come back and try more items.

Yummy cinnamon rolls.

Apparently, it rains a lot in this town. Plane landing: rain Dinner last night: rain Breakfast: rain Okay, you get it. This is a wonderful little bakery with plenty to offer and many great products. Nordic themed, it's a delightful taste of old country baking. Prepare yourself, however, I believe they do things extra-sweet over there, because that's how everything in here tastes. We had to abandon our plans for the morning, so our first stop was here, which went swimmingly well (see what I did there). They make a fabulous lingonberry tart, but the items that really stand out are the cream puff, the princess cake and the onion cheese puff. Our group found the coffee to be so-so, but I really enjoyed my Shot in the Dark, cold brew. The service is excellent and the workers phenomenal. They showed great patience and were quite helpful to us newbies! 04/25

We came to Byen just because we were in the area and wanted to try a new bakery. We were so pleasantly surprised. The first thing we noticed is that all the food is priced well. We didn't feel like we were getting gouged for a cookie or a cheese puff. The coffee was priced pretty standardly. In terms of quality, all the food was great, we had the jalapeño cheese puff, the sprinkle cookie and the thumbprints (I think that's what they call them). Only the thumbprints weren't for me. The coffee was solid but half of my 16 oz cup was just frothed milk so it was more like 8 oz, which was a little dissapointing. You'd expect the parking situation here to be difficult but when we came here the street parking wasn't bad, seemed like most people just walked in on foot so the street parking wasn't packed. There wasn't a ton of seating so plan for maybe having to do a to-go order. But they do have both indoor and outdoor seating so that was nice

Love this bakery! They have a lot of delicious options! My husband and I came on a rainy day. We were able to find some street parking which can be difficult depending on the day/time. Service is friendly and patient. They have indoor tables/seating perfect to enjoy your pastry/coffee there. They have such a big variety of yummy treats and breakfast sandwiches available. I also really loved that they have some cute retail things for sale as well. Breakfast sandwich, mini swedish gooey cake, and some of their pastries were a big highlight for us. I definitely want to come back and try their cakes!

This is the second time I've been here with my friend. We tried several cake slices, pastries, cookies and croissants: my favorite were the jalapeno cheese puff, almond cookie, and chocolate cake. Staff was friendly and patient as I pick what I wanted to try/bring home. There's enough tables inside and outside to sit and enjoy our late lunch/dessert. The bakery was located in a quiet part of the neighborhood too, and there's always parking right out front. Def coming back to try other baked goods from here.

Nothing, because nothing was ready.

We had a very unfortunate experience at Byen. We came at 6:45 on Saturday (15 minutes after they opened), and there was literally nothing available. To make it worse, when we asked the cashier how long it would be she walked as slowly as she could to ask the baker. We were told it would be another 15 minutes. Why open at 6:30 when you aren't going to be ready until 7? Super disappointed as we were very excited based on other reviews, but this was a very poor experience.

Locally charming and Scandinavian goodies made with love! Selection of shortbreads was a lot of fun with such affordable prices-- I enjoyed the buttery goodness and can't wait to see what my coworkers think! The pistachio eclairs was LOADED with pistachios! Wish the praline cake was a little less sweet but the Caramel flavor and the moist chocolate cake was addictive! Thank you to the friendly employee helping us out!

Located right across the street from Seattle Pacific University, this is a bakery specializing in Swedish breads and pastries. We came because we recently learned about Semlor, and Byen Bakeri was one of the few places that served it. It was a brioche style bun, filled with whipped cream, and a slice of marzipan - so delicious, as was their cardamom latte, and cheesy jalapeño bread. If I lived closer to the area, I would come here all the time! The only downside is parking kinda sucks here, as is typical of old Seattle neighborhoods. I will certainly be back for more of their yummy breads, pastries, and seasonal coffee!

Onion and jalapeño cheese pastries

Smells so good inside! Lots of savory options. Would def recommend this place. We tried the Jalapeño cheese and onion pastry and the pecan sticky bun.

Nice, cute modern Nordic cafe. Serving up a large selection of traditional and modern pastries. Very quick service.

A friend has been wanting to take me here and so, we did! Street parking wasn't too difficult and the case was already sort of picked through but still loads of treats to choose from. I had a coffee and sweet roll that was covered in pecans. The roll had plenty of cinnamon and the perfect sweetness. Service very accommodating to answer questions and patient with my inability to make a decision. A few tables inside and outside contributed to a cool bakery vibe. Cookies, cakes and other items were available. Looking forward to going back and trying more of these items!

Tomato & feta cheese (pretty much inhaled it; bread is like a cross between a croissant and a parmesan-crusted breadstick)
Gillian A.

Uh oh, did this bakery actually steal Bakery Nouveau's thunder of being my personal favorite bakery that I've ever tried (so far)??? I think it did! :O Granted, as much as I love croissants (especially the twice-baked one at BN) I think I love danishes more. With that being said, the danishes here are *aMAziNG*! I tried the lingonberry and marionberry ones and what I really like about them is that the fruit fillings aren't overly sweetened and I could actually see some fruit bits. Perfectly soft and chewy danish bread and it even has some croissant-like inner layers to it. I also tried the tomato & feta cheese pastry, which leans more towards croissant style with how crispy it is. Though, what's unique about this pastry bread is that it's like a cross between a traditional croissant and a soft parmesan-crusted breadstick....idk how else to explain it lol. This along with the tomato and feta.....I mean, do I have to directly tell you that this one is a must-try?? :p Pastries will bring you back by about $7 each, which is a bit high compared to the pricing at other bakeries. The thing is that these pastries are really hefty!! I was particularly curious on how much the danishes weigh (these were exceptionally heavy) and using my kitchen scale they're about 1/2 lb each! Lol. Very large pastries as well so easily sharable (well maybe not the tomato & feta cheese pastry as I inhaled that one in like 2 minutes). Make your way here please! :)

The croissant was on the crispier side, especially with the almond crumble on top it was a bit too cripsy for me, but I tend to like soft and flakey pastries so it's probably a matter of taste. The chocolate was slightly dark which worked well with the sweet pastry and filling! Overall I enjoyed the croissant but it was a tad too heavy on the filling and cripsy/crunchy for me.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. I've been hesitant to visit Sea Wolf Bakers due to their prices. $8 baguette? Oomph. Well, in early…read moreMarch I finally decided to give them a try. And now I'm a regular... Through several visits: Baguette, Large ($7.95) - Great baguette with bubbling golden exterior complete with the perfectly baked crust even after waiting 3 hours before cutting in and eating. The interior has the perfect moisture level and is delightfully soft and chewy. The taste overall has a deep developed flavor. This is a great baguette. The only problem - the price. I can find ones for half the price that are maybe 80% as good as this one. (5/5) Seasonal Biscuit ($4.50) - This biscuit definitely isn't Southern-style. It's more of a drop biscuit, combining a relatively soft and tender interior with a nice exterior crust, without any flakiness or layering. The interior is almost cake-like in texture and crumb, and is plenty moist. They add plenty of fresh black pepper inside. It's distributed very evenly, giving a peppery bite with every mouthful. Parmesan is added to the top of the biscuit before baking, giving plenty of umami and richness but only on the upper layer. (4/5) Green Vinaigrette Cafeteria Style Pizza ($6.25) - The pizza is kept under a warming lamp, so it starts getting a little dried out after I assume a couple of hours spent there. I do love the base though - it's focaccia-like giving a really crunchy dark golden brown crust underneath, which supports the toppings. The pizza slice has lots of structural integrity and doesn't flop over. There's a base of fragrant concentrated tomato paste-like flavor which is topped with a very even layer of cheese. Since it's warmed rather than freshly baked, the cheese starts congealing a bit. The cheese is peppered with parsley, garlic, and a bunch of mustard seeds, giving a special zing. The toppings go all the way to the sides of the pie, making it great for people who dislike crust. Even though it's cafeteria style pizza that's kept under heat lamps, I quite liked it. I wonder if I can get a really fresh slice if I get there right at 11AM when lunch starts. (5/5) Chocolate Croissant ($6.10) - Great lamination with a very aesthetic honeycomb pattern. Baked on the harder side, causing fantastic crispy flaky layers to flake off, but also creating a darker golden brown character that is on the verge of bitterness. Nicely buttery soft and chewy interior. Chocolate is a darker variety, probably somewhere around 70%, so it has a pleasing balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor. It's not typical baton, instead seems to be a section from a bar. Still warm and melty even through I didn't eat the croissant until ~30 minutes after purchasing. When cooled down further, some red fruity notes start appearing, so this seems to be be pretty high quality. (5/5) White Sourdough ($12.60) - Now this is a loaf of bread. Superb crust, probably 2 or 3 times as thick compared to competitors, creating a supreme crusty bite with a chew approaching a hard crunch with almost caramelized molasses notes on the bottom. The interior is moist and tender with a pleasing slight sourdough tang. It's a superb piece of craftsmanship. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.80) - This is another heavier bake with some acridity development on the top surface. Unlike many other bakeries where the kouign amann is basically a differently shaped croissant with sugar glaze, Sea Wolf's version feels more in line with tradition. The crumb is denser and richer, more like brioche. There's interesting black speckling inside which I believe is due to the inclusion of espresso powder given the mild coffee-like flavor. The crust is again baked hard, but it's lighter and not as flaky as the croissant. They sprinkle just a bit of salt on top of a very light caramelized sugar glaze. It's not very sweet and I didn't find it too salty unlike some other reviewers. (5/5) Plain Focaccia Slice ($4.80) - Good quality olive oil, some salt sprinkled on top to boost the flavors. Light and airy interior, but the exterior is a little wan, being more light golden brown and lacking some good crusty crisp especially on the fried bottom. Quite oily. (4/5) Sea Wolf gives out free sourdough starter, which can be requested from the cashier. Since picking it up several weeks ago, I've gone through several feed/bake cycles for making sourdough focaccia. I've visited Sea Wolf 3 or 4 times in the last month. That's a testament to how high quality their pastries and breads are. I think the only thing stopping me from visiting more is thanks to the starter I got from them fanning my baking instincts. I bake so much now that I don't have any need to buy their bread! Note: Sea Wolf charges a 3% credit card fee. This is not noted on their menu - it only appears in the POS right before paying. Kind of sketchy. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

I will note that I haven't tried the breads, but as a non-morning individual, I do appreciate that they do tend to still have many items available even later in the afternoon (~1-3PM time frame). You will have to find street parking, but I've never had too much trouble in this neighborhood even on the weekend. Butter Croissant (3.75/5): I'll admit I'm insanely picky with my croissants and I think Sea Wolf's is just okay. I want a stronger crisp on the outside, something that almost shatters and makes a mess when you bite in, but the inside has a nice chew. Kouign Amann (3.75/5): I had a really fantastic time with this my first time picking it up, they have almost a crunchy sugar caramel crust on the outside with super buttery pastry inside. Unfortunately, my second time picking this up ended up being a miss, just stale and much to dry. Cinnamon Roll (1/5): The raisins are a nice touch, but this was awfully dry. Even the caramelized crus on the outside couldn't save this and charging extra for cream cheese frosting on top of a dry dough is criminal.

The focaccia was pillowy and chewy at the same - I could've eaten five of these on their own. The frittata was my least favorite item, but by no means am I saying that it's bad!
