Just love this old building, it's like a museum all around. Beautiful view of Lake Washington (I think that's what its call) or the Puget Sound..lol one or the other. Had some old weaving mills displayed on the second floor and some other artifacts. I was there for an Uber event and I think it's a private club so it's not accessible to the general public. Great place to have a conference, wedding reception or any big event. Easy to find and lots of parking available on the lower lot.

This review is for the Swedish Club and not the pancake breakfast. I've been to numerous events over the past few years and I have grown to love this place more and more. The staff here have been nothing but welcoming since the first day I walked in. The building is located on Queen Anne and over looks Lake Union. There are some really spectacular views from the 3 Crowns room and the balcony around it. There is ample parking and the building is easily accessible. There seems to be something going on everyday here and the building is open even if you just want to look around. The Swedish Club knows how to throw a party. I highly recommend going to ABBA night once in your lifetime. These people know how to throw a party. There are people of all ages and all walks of life who attend these events so don't be scared. My personal favorite is Eurovision night. They watch Eurovision on the big screen upstairs and open the bar for drinks and snacks. They offer svensk classes for those wanting to learn a little Swedish. They also have weaving classes and a bunch of choirs to join as well. I think I can say that there's something for everyone here. Tusen tack!

After hearing about the Swedish Cultural Center's Sunday breakfast a few times, we finally made it over to Seattle to check it out the first Sunday of this month. Overall, it was a really enjoyable event! Parking is either in the lot at the Swedish Cultural Center or across the street in another lot. We arrived probably around 10:30 or so and felt lucky to find a spot... when we were leaving, someone was already waiting for our spot behind us too! It appears there is also street parking around the place, but I honestly didn't look at any special parking permit required or anything like that. When you get inside after a nice greeting by a gentleman in a kilt, you join a line to pay for the breakfast (CASH ONLY, be prepared!). Several people were also enrolling to become members which will give you a free breakfast that morning too. We picked up a flyer with events sponsored by the Center and it looked like there were several fun activities including a Viking Happy Hour, a Christmas gift shopping event, movie nights, etc. After paying - in cash ($9/person) - and getting 2 tickets, you enter the dining area and follow the ropes to the food service area. There are several large circular communal tables with people enjoying their Swedish pancakes and having conversations with one another. Coffee is provided on the tables (and it's good coffee too!), orange juice is also available near where you pick up the food. You get 3 folded up Swedish pancakes, lingonberry or strawberry sauce (lingonberry was delish!) and some fresh whipped cream on top. You also get a big piece of ham with your first serving which really goes well with the sweet breakfast. For seconds, you can have more pancakes, but not more ham. We ended up sitting with some of the cooks and some other members of the Cultural Center. It seemed kind of like a family dinner party and we felt very welcomed there. There's music playing from a band, room to dance if you want to, good food.. fun! This definitely seems like a family friendly event and I think kids would enjoy seeing live music and the food is approachable to little ones as well.

This place makes me happy. They offer Swedish language classes, a gorgeous pancake breakfast on the first Sunday of each month, and a killer view of the city. I'm half Swedish and love the fact that there's a place where I can get in touch with my roots or catch a subtitled Scandinavian film! Parking can be headachy but plan ahead and you should be fine. There's space behind their building and on the street. Or you can carpool or take the bus.

I would never have found this place if there wasn't a UYE (breakfast club). The Swedish pancakes are great! CASH ONLY! It's $9 per adult and you can get two plates: first plate pancakes with meat and second plate just pancakes. You have choice of orange juice, milk, coffee and tea. The first plate comes with 3 rolls of Swedish pancakes with either strawberry topping or raspberry with whipped cream and a piece of ham. I didn't get to have the second plate because I was already filled up with the first plate. There were a lot of people. It's more like family style. Since all the Yelpers arrived different time, we had two or three different tables with others. It was actually pretty fun. The table two other Yelpers and I sat was shared with a family. The wife was next to me and she was really interested in food as well. We had conversation about food and where to grab good food. In front of the breakfast room, there's a space that people can dance with Swedish music. A lot of the members of Swedish Cultural, they also wore traditional clothes to the breakfast. There's parking lot behind the building and across street. Or, you can find parking on the street. Thanks Food Ninja for finding this great breakfast place! It was awesome.

My daughter is interested in the Japanese culture. The classes they offer range from young child to youth to adult and each age level has its own skill levels so that a teenager just learning Japanese is not put in class with a 5 year old starting Japanese Language Class. Not only does the JCCCW offer Japanese Language Class, they have a lending library and a museum of Japanese culture. In addition, they host many activities related to Japanese culture and participate in the Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cultural Festival held in the spring at the Seattle Center. Unfortunately, the people who run the JCCCW seem to live in their own world and do not always use technology to a beneficial result. They also consider, well whatever it is they consider, and fail to consider their students or their students' families in their decisions, when they choose to announce things, and how they choose to communicate. This is a drawback. Frankly, they seem very technological inept and are not helpful or reasonable under the anonymity of using the internet, even when they sign their name. However, when working with them in person or on the phone, they tend to be very nice and helpful. Worth a visit to learn more about Japanese history, and worth the classes if you wish to learn the Japanese language.

Also the show was not directly overhead rather slightly forward facing (most of the time) so you should think about bringing a pillow! Right when the show started the lasers were pretty sub par, but by the middle they added more lasers from different directions and smoke which really elevated the visuals to the next step. The music started off wayyy too loud, my ears adjusted over time but afterwards it was hard to hear ppl next to me. There's really no need for it to be that loud when we're so close to the speakers and we're not competing with audience cheers. Was a fun hour spent! The candlelight setup created a really warm, immersive atmosphere, and hearing familiar Beatles music in that setting gave it a completely different feel. It's one of those experiences that's hard to fully capture in photos, but definitely stands out in person. Between the architecture, the exhibits, and the events they host, it's more than just a typical museum visit. Located on a busy road, it's easy to drive past without noticing, but inside is the history of Puget Sound and the indiginous people who live here. There is no fee to enter. At first I thought it was a gift shop, but several displays with artifacts and photos are to your right. There is a lot of information regarding the original topography, before civil engineers rerouted rivers and installed dams. It also documents how this activity contributed to the demise of some Duwamish people who relied on these waterways for food.. Artifacts include hunting and fishing gear, hand made baskets, herbs used medicinally and fibers used to make cloth are on display with information on how they are used. Very interesting. A lesson on living off the land. Inside the longhouse are photographs and a canoe you can checkout. This longhouse is built as the communal longhouses of the past were with an elevated platform around the edges that would have been used for sitting and sleeping. It's a beautiful space. After we read all the info (there's a lot of info) and looked at all the artifacts we browsed the gift shop and made a few purchases. They have a variety of artisan made products including beautiful blankets, jewelry, note cards and wall art among other things. We chatted with the staff member as we made our purchases. We had never gone until this past weekend, though, when they held a craft fair. The longhouse is located very near the industrial port area, on the opposite side of Marginal Way, and is very nicely built (wood) yet small. There are two rooms, that we know. The first houses a museum of sorts. In the second was where they put the crafts and behind that is a small kitchen where they were selling a few items, including the hottest item (basically everyone came for this), the frybread. We felt honored to be hosted by the Duwamish. We picked up a beautiful beaded hummingbird. The reason I do not give five stars is because the space was so small, which made browsing the crafts very difficult. Normally I would have liked to learn so much more about each vendor and their items yet here you were lucky if you could even squish close enough to see or buy anything. A couple of vendor spots were less populated, I think because what they had on offer was less of an "easy" sell - gorgeous ledger art and handmade drums. Recommend a visit.

Ok so Grey Sloan memorial may be in my head and not a real place but second to none is the space needle. No way could I have come to Seattle and not go to the Space Needle. I live in Los Angeles, so high rises and observation decks I am not a stranger to. I don't want to discourage anyone from going but most observation decks are almost a dime a dozen once you have done a handful. But no matter what the standout special that is sharing the courtyard of the space needle is this lovely glass garden. I have no idea why no one from Grey Sloan has made their way over there (Yeah, yeah, I know it's really filmed mostly in Los Angeles) When people talk about the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden should be mentioned right along with it. It was such a beautiful and refreshing place to visit. The only thing I could ask would be for maybe 3 more exhibits. The glass blowing demonstration was so cool, well it was hot, and visually cool. So when you buy the tickets to the Space Needle and it asks you if you want the combination ticket for Chihuly Garden, you should absolutely click that option. The ticket as an addon or solo is a bit pricey in my opinion for the size of the exhibit, but so is everything else in the world now. I took some cool pics, but I am going to keep them to myself.
