Whole foods Local Event
Angie Y.

Love this event venue! Came here to attend a Whole Foods event and was floored by how well this space accommodated all the vendors! There was a lot of space to walk around and seats in almost every room for you to take your samples of food and be able to sit and enjoy! Parking is a little bit tricky as we were only able to find street parking but aside from that, there is a large sign outside that says "within sodo"! Cozy, warm lit environment with some posh accents! Would totally love to attend another event here.

It's been 8 months since I've gotten married at this venue and a long overdue reviewing is needed. Overall experience here was pretty good, there were some hiccups in communication with the site but in the end it all worked out. The venue itself does not need much when it comes to decorating, the open space, the modern industrial look has its appeal, this building itself is beautiful. I had some floral and greenery here and there but no need to spend so much on the extras. We used every space minus the rooftop, but no need when you're having a November wedding. The newest edition, The Lobby was my favorite room (I had guests arrive from the 1st Ave side and they were greeted with champagne as they walked in). Then the Mirror Room, where I had my cake and desserts set up. If you plan on having a wedding with 100 guests or less, I would definitely check this place out. But once you go over that point it gets a little crowded, I had about 120 guests and that was definitely pushing it with my setup. Only reason why I am giving it a 4 star rating is because the miscommunication here and there was stressful and the last minute change up on my onsite venue coordinator was unneeded stress on the day of rehearsal. But the overall space is wonderful.

We had originally planned for WithinSodo for our ceremony and reception, but then Covid hit and we had to change plans. We were so stressed out about how this was all going to work out, but WithinSodo was by far the easiest vendor to work with. They gave us lots of options and flexibility, and we ended up having an initiate 25 person ceremony and it was amazing. The venue itself is so unique with all of the rooms; you honestly barely need any decor if you want that industrial look. The rooftop, lounge, and mirror rooms are a dream. Kate was so amazing with her communication, working with us, and even helping out so much on the day of (we had let go of our day of coordinator so this helped so much). Kate even gave us some glasses of champagne to help ease our minds. Thank you to Kate for creating such a memorable day! We are planning on holding a reception there once things are safe!

rooftop deck, with rented furniture from greenroom decor

My husband and I were married there in August, 2019. The venue was perfect, and exactly what we wanted. We rented the rooftop deck, and the two lower banquet rooms. The rooftop area is gorgeous as is, with very little needed decoration. The reserving process with Kate was super clear, and helpful. Working with her about options, bar, coordination, etc. was seamless. Kate worked with us on bar services, our budget, what furniture that they had vs what we would not need, etc. The only area for feedback would be the day of. The day of coordinator was a person who I never met before (nor even saw the day of), and was a little challenging to communicate with. My florist was on-site throughout the day to set-up, and shared that there were a few vendors there not for our wedding, and were doing a walk-through. I never really found out what that was about, or if someone was at the wrong space, but when I talked to the coordinator, he didn't have any kind of explanation or didn't seem like he knew anything about it. It was a little frustrating that my friend was the one who spoke with the other people, and inform me. Would have been helpful if he had been a more clear communicator. I did not have a day of coordinator, so you likely would avoid any potential miscommunication if you have your own person. Overall, lovely space, lovely people and exactly what we wanted! Thank you!

Nice space for private events. The back of the venue is especially nice, with a bar setup and lots of natural light. The front of the venue is spacious but lacking natural light, which can be a plus perhaps depending on the event. Parking during off hours isn't bad.

Just to start off, I'm not sure if I should review the venue or the event? Looking at this super cool, kitschy warehouse venue, I love the fact that it's in a "district" that is very unassuming! Finding the entrance itself is just part of this experience, if you've never been here before. Once you walk in past the warehouse doors, the venue is only as great as your imagination! The sectioned areas are great for "station" type activities. The bonus is the upstairs rooftop area where you have amazing views of downtown Seattle on a clear day, let alone a night, as we were fortunate enough to enjoy! I'm not sure how many were at my sold out Whisky Jewbilee, but although it seemed like a lot of people, we were still able to move freely and experience the whiskeys that were 'must taste' and then some. After a few hours imbibing, having the last hour on the rooftop was a dream respite! There was plenty of seating and again, the closing venue views were the perfect ending to a great evening! If/when I need a large venue like this, I will definitely have WithinSodo in mind. And, of course, I will tell all my Seattle Peeps to check this out if they ever have an opportunity to attend an event here! *cheers

March 2019, my nonprofit youth rugby club held their annual fundraiser at WithinSODO. The venue is beautiful and the staff was amazing. This was the perfect rustic venue for our event and the price was very reasonable. Kate and Adam are amazing people to work with and made planning the event and the night of our auction a really enjoyable experience. There was plenty of parking for our 85 guests and the location is really accessible from the freeway.

Our ceremony set up in the Gallery

Krista Marie recommends WithinSodo. Just now · We had our wedding at Within SODO on leap day and it was so magical! The space itself is absolutely stunning and does not need much added for the perfect mood. We rented all of the indoor rooms. We loved how each room had its own style and how they all were different. We used the Lobby for our cocktail room where we had passed appatizers, the gallery for our ceremony, and then the ballroom and lounge for dinner and dancing. We had a total of 95 guests and it felt like the perfect amount of space. We loved working with Kate throughout the planning process. She was very accommodating and helpful. Their bar service and bartender were also very efficient and spot on on the day of. The only thing that was a little worrisome is that they were doing some construction on the front door when we arrived to set up. They got done in time and everything worked out but it did seem a little odd for last minute fixes during our paid set up time. Thank you Kate and Within SODO for hosting our wedding!! photo credit: savannamarleephotography.com

How does parking work? Is it street parking? I'm concerned if you were having 150 guest for a wedding how would that many people find parking?

We have seven spaces at our Utah Street address for you use as you see fit. There are 3 Diamond Parking lots in the surrounding blocks that offer all-day secured parking. To be honest, since we are in such a business-driven district, street parking… Read more

The space itself is full of character and charm, which meant we didn't have to add much decor. GTB already brings the perfect vibe. Between the ballroom, theater, and patio, we had so many beautiful backdrops for every part of our celebration. The catering was incredible - our guests couldn't stop raving about the food, especially the brisket (which the chef loving tended to into the early morning hours). We also loved that we got to do a tasting beforehand, and the team was wonderful about accommodating dietary restrictions. The bar was just as great! Our specialty cocktail and mocktail were both a big hit. Danielle, the venue manager, was amazing to work with throughout the entire process. Her communication and organization were top-notch, and she was so friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible. On the day itself, Danielle and the GTB team were calm, detailed-oriented, and took care of everything behind the scenes so we could enjoy our wedding without stress. The in-house florist created stunning arrangements, which made things that much easier for us. Everyone we interacted with was warm and welcoming. GTB is very LGBTQ-affirming, and worked seamlessly with our other vendors. We're still getting compliments from guests about how beautiful and effortless everything felt. Georgetown Ballroom truly gave us the wedding of our dreams.

A parking lot is available but can fill up quickly, depending on the size of your event and other activities that may be going on. There is an upstairs and downstairs but the hall itself is on the main level (or upstairs). On one side of the building, there is a lounge area near the bathrooms. It is a very clean, well kept space to sit and chill out away from the action. On the other side is the gathering hall. The hall itself has beautiful wood floors and large windows. If your event requires darker quarters, the shades can be drawn easily. Right where the windows are, there is a stage that covers the width of the hall. There are stairs all the way across and two accessible ramps up each side. The stage can fit a variety of needs and they have a podium and other tables that can be set up there, depending on your needs. I've been to most events where round tables are used. Other sets can be with chairs only. There is a sink on each side of the back of the hall as well as areas to hang coats, which I think is a necessity in Seattle. The staff is fantastic! They are flexible and easy to work with in order to meet your needs. I have to say that aside from having things set according to a floor plan, they recognize that it is possible you may have last minute changes and are very accommodating. Before you enter the hall, there is a hallway that can be set as a check-in area. I find that really helpful as people don't get clogged right inside the doors. If you're looking for a facility, you should consider NewHolly. They have tons of information on their website about cost and such. A great facility run by great people. Who could ask for more?

Oh, Seattle Design Center...so much potential as a wedding and large event venue. Yet, so poorly…read moremanaged. Let me explain. We had a beautiful wedding at the Seattle Design Center in May 2012--both the ceremony and the reception in the Atrium (the largest room). The venue is gorgeous--ridiculously high ceilings, full of skylights that bring in natural light, neutral tile flooring, a gorgeous grand staircase--part of the second floor balcony. The square footage is enormous and could easily hold 500 people if you wanted to. The BIGGEST PERK of the SDC: you can bring in your own caterer. That, and it's quite reasonably priced compared to other Seattle venues that would hold 200 or more people The biggest downside: the people who are supposed to be helping you plan your wedding in fact know next to nothing about the wedding business--they are managers at Molly's Salads, the daytime food cart! After booking the SDC officially in April 2011 (13 months before our wedding), our SDC "wedding coordinator" changed THREE TIMES. That meant we had to connect with the newbie each and every time to make sure they could accommodate some of our special needs, like having a small religious fire for our ceremony (don't ask). And also confirming (again and again) the rehearsal time and date, as well as where the bridal party would have space for changing and storing stuff. Needless to say, we had to be very proactive in dealing with the SDC and made sure to get everything in writing. They provided very little outside of signing the contract and some tables and chairs. If it had not been for our stellar wedding planners of Blue Ribbon, this event could never have happened. Thus, I am torn--the SDC is a stunning venue, but really needs to focus on event management and hiring people who know what they are doing.

I've booked two fundraising auctions at SDC, and am about to sign a contract on a third. As the…read moreother review mentioned, they had some turnover, but since last Fall there has been one person in charge of booking, Jenifer, and she is GREAT. The rest of their event staff, the people who are on-site managers during the event, are amazing, too: they helped us with everything from weird electrical stuff to dimming the lights for the video portion to moving stacks of chairs over and over as we got the tables set up, and stayed to the bitter end as our worn out staff and volunteers cleaned up (they clean up their own tables and chairs, we rented additional tables and catering-ware which we had to secure for pick up). Both of our events there looked stunning, and our constituents (who have been to many venues over the years) have only given us positive feedback on the move. Plus it's reasonably-priced AND has its own parking lot. I think this is one of the best venues in the city, and I look forward to putting on more events there in the future.
