This venue is exceptional for so many reasons: not only is it a non-profit venue, but they light over 100 candles for your event and provide so many things that you would typically need to rent at other venues (chairs, tables, glassware, etc.). Also there are so many things for your guests to do in downtown Ballard if your wedding is mainly out-of-town guests like ours was. Nate and the team were so kind and thoughtful throughout the entire process. We are so grateful we had the opportunity to spend our special day at Cathedral Ballard - it was truly so special!!! :)

There is a ground level and an upstairs. Upon coming in staff greeted us and informed us of the going-Ons upstairs. There were 3 bartenders all of whom were very nice. Lots of seating and small music and dancing area. The food was self-serve, buffet style, catered La Cabana. The salsa and guac were good and was nicely laid out. Cathedral donates much of the earnings made from the use of the space and are also known for their candles which I've received as a gift and can say are nicely scented and benefit causes. So, if you see one in a local shop or otherwise it makes a good gift. Not sure they sell them at this actual location of Cathedral though. If you 're looking to host an event or know someone who wants to, Cathedral has a decent space to be rented out with nice staff who will help manage it.

We had the chance to photograph a summer wedding there, and I was absolutely blown away by the space, the staff, and the overall experience. The couple we worked with had gotten engaged in Paris and wanted their wedding to reflect that romantic, European flair. The Ruins, with its opulent, maximalist style and stunning hand-painted ballroom, was the perfect fit. Every room felt like stepping into a different storybook, and the attention to detail in the decor made for the most magical, photo-ready moments. Their guests were wow'd at every turn--it was truly an experience, not just an event. From a vendor perspective, the staff couldn't have been better. Friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating. The on-site coordinator, Ruby, is a total gem! Even when a few minor hiccups popped up (as they always do), she handled everything with grace and efficiency, keeping the day running smoothly and stress-free for everyone involved. We have used the RC for two client appreciation/business development events and not only do we love it, our clients do too! The food is always great (a highlight is the appetizer bacon wrapped dates), the drinks are tasty and the bartenders are pleasant, and as an organizer I think the spaces are beautiful and perfectly decorated. After spending seven months on the hunt for the perfect wedding venue, I was ready to give up. I'm…read morenot going to lie, I am picky; I specifically wanted a large, open, indoor space with natural light, and minimal furnishings - ultimately, a blank canvas. Just something neutral, classy, and easy to work with my vision for my wedding. Apparently I was asking too much, because every other typical wedding site was $3000+ to rent, required you to use their vendors (boooo), had hideous carpet or tapestries, or their coordinators liked to ignore me. Then, in a final search of desperation, I found a link to Great Hall at Green Lake. It was meant to be. Nelda was super prompt in responding to me (major cookies and points here), friendly, and didn't just want to throw numbers at me. My fiance and I scheduled a tour of the place and Nelda showed us every nook and cranny, and was more than happy to answer all of our questions. Very reasonable rental prices (in comparison to all the other wedding venues out there) and Nelda is very up-front about any optional/additional costs. I am not a bridezilla, but I do expect a professional attitude and level of interest from someone acting as a vendor on one of the most important days of my life, and I am happy to say that thus far, the communication process and tour of the space has been perfect; I cannot wait to have my wedding here next spring, and I will surely return with another review.

I also really liked that it got a lot of natural lighting in the building. We initially wanted an outdoor wedding but being in Seattle, that was too much of a risk to take even in the month of August. We were initially concerned that it would be too hot and that we would need to rent air conditioners but it was pretty cool outside that day so we did not need to. They also had some large portable fans on the stage if needed but we did not need them on our wedding day. The staff was very hands-off. We scheduled a tour twice and sometimes it seemed like they were not expecting us. I think it was because someone was on their way out of the job and some things needed to be communicated. They were very flexible about letting us come in to look at the place for a second time with our wedding coordinator and set out chairs and tables to see what it would be like, they basically left us alone and said we could leave whenever we were finished. They have one larger room upstairs to be used as a bridal suite, and then one smaller room downstairs that seemed too small to be a second bridal suite. I ended up letting the groom/groomsmen get ready in the main, larger bridal suite, then us ladies got ready at my friend's house, and then we told the guys to leave when we were on our way and that worked out pretty well. I had about 120ish people at my wedding and it was pretty tight when the tables were out, like my husband and I could barely walk across to get to our table and people had to stand and scoot in. During there ceremony, it was perfectly fine. The main thing that was an issue for me is that they do not have a dumpster that we could use and expected us to haul our own trash out after the wedding reception. They charged quite a lot of money if we were to leave trash for them to dispose of. I think that was the most stressful part, and they also said that we can't dump garbage in the neighboring dumpsters. This was the only reason for me taking off one star. Otherwise, I loved this venue for my wedding!

A family member was married here. $2500 gets you a beautiful space overlooking the water. We had use of the venue from 10am - 12 midnight. There was a bar area that had various sized glasses for 150 people. We brought our own beverages. We had use of the kitchen and did all the food ourselves. The bridesmaids decorated the chairs and gazebo that was made for the wedding. Two employees helped facilitate setting up plates and bussing tables. There is a dressing room for the bride (and wedding party) that has comfy couches, a dorm sized fridge and a counter space for hair & makeup people (if you bring them). There is a places to hang clothes. I saw hangers by the coat rack but I would bring hangers for gowns and dresses. The door by the kitchen can be locked. If you want privacy for this room, it is s good idea to have someone posted by the door. The facility has members that aren't restricted during your event. We saw a few people making their way to the dock that were not on our guest list. It would have been nice if they could have discreetly entered and avoided our dining area. We had 150 guests and a bridal party of twelve. There were only two stalls in each bathroom. If you want photo opps by the water, the bride and groom can take pictures on the dock. There is also a lovely place by the water that is a short walk from the building. The venue has various vases and containers that you can borrow to put on tables. The sound system is simple. There was a microphone. We brought our own music. There is a baby grand piano inside. Bonus points for the pretty views at sunset.

I was scheduled to have my wedding here on August 3rd. After booking in December and being told that construction would be completed in March my family and I checked in often to make sure everything was on track. The venue was not completed in March and we were given excuses every week since then about why things were not happening. My fiancé ended up going to see the construction progress on a date not scheduled with Peter and Crystal which is when he found the stop work order posted on their front door. Every time we had visited they covered this with a poster advertising the venue. We confronted them about this at our next meeting where they denied any problems and assured us that the venue would be completed. After looking into it more ourselves we found out that they do not have permits for the construction and have multiple people trying to get money back from them. At our next meeting we confronted Peter with this information where he finally said that our event would not be able to happen. The stop work order had been in affect since January. He chose not to inform anyone of this and keep taking people's money. We asked for our money back and he said if he wrote us a check it would bounce. They do not have any money and are scamming people. He promised to pay my dad back on Monday and it has not happened. He has stopped responding to us. Do not use this venue or their other venue called The Landing at Tyee. The construction has been done with out permits and the owners are lying to couples about what is going on with construction. I would think this would be better suited to charity and professional events and less suited to personal events like weddings. It was certainly far more elegant and pleasant than the church the auction has used in the past.

She was great to…read morework with, gave excellent, thorough information on the venue and was happy to hold the date we were interested in until a decision was made. Although we decided to book our event elsewhere, it was a pleasure to work with her. I'm definitely holding onto the information she gave me for booking an event here, corporate or personal, in the future. One can book out the space of the cafe as well if needed. They will also add their cafe's barista service to your event for a small fee. There's a small parking lot that is right nearby to use which is really helpful in this neck of the woods where parking is space. The space itself is a big concrete slab with concrete walls but they have all of the tables and chairs, a grand piano to rent, and the price is great along with the ability to have catering come in from outside and decorate the space as you see fit.

This allows you to really do want you want with the space! We chose to keep it pretty simple with just some floral centerpieces and it worked wonderfully. Peter and Karen were a joy to work with; they were excellent, quick communicators. As far as wedding/reception venues go in Seattle, this one was really well priced. Loved that tables/chairs/dishes/flatware were included in the price. The only things that may present slight issues are that there is no parking onsite (although lots of parking options close-by), and that the space is maxed out at 160 guests. We had 115 and I think it'd be too crowded to go much higher than that. There's also no elevator for older folks, but there's not too many stairs and they aren't very steep.
