Small, but mighty (and free). A fantastic place to visit but it requires some planning ahead. They're only open to the public the first and third Saturday of every month. Reservations are available 15 days in advance. I'd highly recommend that you reserve tickets when they are first made available. We planned a trip out on the Bainbridge Ferry the day we had The Spheres reservations. I definitely don't recommend doing that. The ferry was delayed and we wound up getting to The Spheres 25 minutes after our reservation time. Thankfully, they let us in without really mentioning the time. They request that each guest stay in the building for at most an hour to accommodate the constant flow of guests. The Spheres is a 4 level botanical garden. It was designed to replicate a cloud forest in order to host thousands of tropical and subtropical plants. There were a lot of interesting things that I had never seen elsewhere including spiky-leaf plants (Bigonia xerox), a palm with bright orange stalks with small green fruit that look like capers (Pacaya Palm), and a cone-shaped, bright orange flower that looked unreal (Guzmania conifers). There were also exhibits with amphibians or tropical fish. There's a cafe on the second floor called General Porpoise and gender neutral bathrooms on every floor. A few stations have experiments for kids to interact with or poster boards to read. Because they restrict the guests, it's not too crowded. There is a ton of things to look at and photograph. The amount of people make it so you can get the perfect shot if you are willing to wait a little. It's a must see building and worth the time planning ahead for. How lucky were we to see on Facebook that the Amazon Spheres would be open the day we arrived in Seattle. We were completely blown away by what we saw when we arrived at our appointed time to visit. The Spheres comprises a trio on connected glass domes, located in the center of Amazon-occupied office towers in Downtown Seattle. The Spheres opened in 2018 by Jeff Bezos for his employees. They are only open to the public for free on two Saturdays of each month. The structure was designed by American architecture firm NBBJ. They serve as an employee lounge and workspace. The Spheres are a fully functioning, self-contained ecosystem - a greenhouse with more than 40,000 different varieties of plants from all over the world. It is built on a concrete foundation, using 620 tons of steel. The structures are connected in an open-plan indoor area filled with numerous exotic plants. The most striking feature inside the Amazon Spheres is a 4,000 square foot Canyon Living Wall. It stands 62 feet tall and 50 feet wide. A path winds up four stories across a suspension bridge to a Bird's Nest meeting area. During the day the temperature inside is in the mid 70's with 60% humidity. At night, it drops to 55 degrees with 85% humidity. The highest of the three Amazon Spheres is 90-meters tall. The catalans at the Amazon Spheres contain an incredible 2,643 panels of glass, making the whole structure visible from the outside thus, creating a clear view on the inside. Nice sphere for Amazon. This sphere is well build and good architectural design. The system is triangular support that makes this double bubble design stand out. The collection of the plants and flowers are very unique. This includes the special corpse flower which open only every 12 months. The animals collection has the color frog and some fresh water fish. This was actually my second time visiting the Amazon Spheres... and of course, I somehow missed the entrance again! These glass domes in the middle of downtown Seattle are seriously stunning so futuristic on the outside and filled with lush greenery inside (or so I hear... since I still haven't made it in yet, lol). We were there at the end of September, and sadly, the Spheres weren't open to the public that day. For anyone planning a visit, pro tip: the Spheres are only open to the public on the first and third Saturday of each month, and you'll need to reserve tickets online in advance through seattlespheres.com. To make matters worse, we also missed the corpse flower blooming by just one day! I was so bummed! That rare bloom only lasts a short time and apparently smells awful but is a total spectacle to witness. Even though we couldn't go inside, the exterior alone is worth checking out. A friend told me about these spheres when I was visiting last week, so I dropped by for a look. Gotta admit they are pretty cool, it'd be nice to have a work environment like that to go to every day! Taking up a corner of the block, these 3 glass bubbles look as if they're simultaneously rising out of the ground, nestled in between a well-manicured jungle growth glistening in the sunlight--while encapsulating the explosion of green vegetation inside. Fantastical. The plants surrounding hint at the variety inside. While I didn't go in, I enjoyed taking a walk around these huge baubles. There looks to be about three floors inside, with labeled plant life, lounge areas, hanging art, a cafe. Willmott's Ghost, a contemporary Italian kitchen on the first floor, is also available as a dining option. The community banana truck on weekdays is a popular spot to check out. I didn't realize they have a sign-up for free entry every 1st and 3rd Saturdays so I'll make sure to get ahead of that next time! Sounds like a guided tour is available those days too. read more

I was able to visit because of my uncle and I was amazed! Imagine greenhouse, a coffee shop and an office all in one! It is warm in there due to the environment being controlled, so dress accordingly. This is for someone who likes being outside. It felt like I was in a rainforest of different plants. My family thought it was the coolest. I don't enjoy getting sprinkled with the mist when it's time for watering. Also of the people who work for Amazon work from there, it is a peaceful spot, you can get coffee as well and sit and relax. It's a workspace... for employees it's a little slice of work heaven, because it's warm, cozy, and lovely for the long days when you are working yourself to... you know. I spend many a day here, escaping wood tone home of the door deck, and here in the oasis, where I can feel at zen, while writing my OP1 documents, meeting partners who want me to spend money with them, and meeting partners who want to spend money with us. Did I mention I used to have 1:1s with my co-workers here, because everything is better with the sound of running water, and the fine mist of water. Yes, this place does it all, and if you are in the mood to enjoy your lunch that you purchased at Whole Foods (just down the street), then this is your place too. What a beautiful space in the middle of downtown Seattle. It feels like a tropical rainforest with a diverse range of plants. So peaceful and relaxing. There's a cafe that serves coffee, donuts, and gelato. Plenty of seating to sit and unwind while being surrounded by nature. I recommend visiting this place if you're in the area. Make sure to make a reservation online ahead of time, as it's required to visit. It's definitely worth the effort. I was at a conference in Seattle and was provided the opportunity to visit the Amazon Spheres with an AWS worker. I have to say, that this is a gorgeous place just to visit and see all the foliage and layout. You can tell it was intentionally designed from the structure being two giant domes, the way they ensured plants were organized based on geographic regions, and the cozy areas you could sit and relax. My son works as an exec at Amazon, so he was able to take us on a tour of this unique facility. The place is basically a multi story greenhouse with numerous plants, aquariums, terrariums, and more. You get to walk through paths surrounded by fauna, with sign identifying the species. The kids really liked the fish and frogs in the varied displays. I enjoyed spheres. There are five or six floors. I lost count. There was a bonsai tree exhibit that I enjoyed, I loved the wall of flowers and greenery as well as the fauna and the aquarium along the wall. The seating is unique and there's plenty of it. The bathroom is clean. The doors to the bathrooms, I felt were grand forward to ceiling doors. I made sure to take my picture in the nest. It was a bit stressful to get the tickets to come here on a public Saturday - I called my sister-in-law and together we were tapping/refreshing like crazy women trying to get a time slot for our group of 9 to get in at the same time. The Amazon Spheres is open to the public only on certain days and times of the month, or an Amazon employee can bring you in as a guest any time. The rest of the time, it's used as a soothing office space for employees to work and they have a small cafe. The architecture is stunning and the plants are well kept and beautiful. Im not sure how crowded it can get or how long the lines are when it's opened to the public, but it was nice to visit as a guest of an employee and we only stayed for about 15 minutes. Amazon is also known for their community banana trucks and there's one right outside of the visitor entrance of the Spheres, so you can pick up as many bananas as you'd like for free! read more

The Amazon Spheres is such a beautiful, green experience. There are an abundant amount of beautiful plants for all plant/nature lovers to admire. Upon entry, we were provided with a visitor badge (which you need to provide identification for). Then, we were able to get badged in by my brother who is an employee of Amazon. The initial entry experience is a cute, mini waterfall, however, if you have a stroller or a wheel chair, this may be an experience you would have to bypass and take the elevators. Each level after the ground floor is filled with greenery (green plant walls, green plant paths, and glass like exhibits with more plants with insects and or frogs for you to spot). The last floor of the Amazon Spheres was closed off due to an Amazon event, so I wasn't able to experience that, however, the beauty of the rest of the Spheres was nice to experience. This place is gorgeous! Beautiful plant life growing in there and the little reptiles or fishes in their their displays are cute too! You'll need a guest pass badge to enter if you don't work for them. But there's a lot of photo opportunities and a really cool treehouse like structure. They also have a little coffee bar in the middle of the second floor which has delicious treats and do tour groups as well! The ambience and scenery are just absolutely stunning. The spheres are in walking distance of my hotel, but because of the construction on the street, there was a little detour which caused me to be about 5 mins late. The check-in process was smooth. They scanned my ticket & let me through after stamping my hand. The tour was self guided which was nice. It was so beautiful and tranquil. Amazing photo ops. I got amazing shots. I visited here right after the underground tour, after a short Uber ride. The check in started right when I arrived. This sphere is pretty interesting, but I seriously don't see why they have such high security just to get checked in. Nobody wants to steal your plants amazon. I am not necessarily a nature lover, but I seemed to visit every area of every level. Took lots of photos and still finished within about 25 minutes. During the free entry for non-employees, which is when I visited, you are allowed 1 hour in the sphere. Do they come track you down if you stay 1 hr 15 mins, I doubt it? Is this a must visit while in Seattle, on that 1 Saturday a month? I would say no. Alot of the plants are consistent from level to level, so it's not a massive selection of 1,000s of rainforest or Amazon species like they want you to think. read more

We visited the Amazon Spheres during a weekday with the help of my cousin who works at Amazon. Also learned, during weekend, they are open to the public for free, but you have to reserve spot online days in advance, as the slots fill up quickly. The checkin process is smooth and clean, as soon as i entered, I was amazed by the diversity and beauty of the plants inside the domes, which create a tropical rainforest atmosphere. There were also waterfalls, fish tanks, and terrariums to admire stitched along with work areas and conference rooms for Amazonians. The Spheres are not only a botanical wonder, but also a architectural marvel. The glass structure is stunning and futuristic, and the interior design is elegant and cozy. Also, I saw many people working and collaborate at their meeting and workspaces, as well as a coffee shop and a gift shop for visitors. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there were informative signs and guides to learn more about the plants and the project. Do not l to get your free banana from their banana truck. What can I say other than an absolutely amazing experience in the heart of downtown Seattle. Challenging to snag a reservation given they only open up the Spheres two Saturdays per month to the public. Check early online and set up a reminder on your phone to ensure best chance at getting one when they open up. The outside structure of the Spheres is definitely impressive and the surrounding neighborhood is cool. But nothing compares to once you are inside exploring. It is akin to being transported to an Amazonian rainforest within the concrete jungle of downtown Seattle. The plants and flowers are gorgeous. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Check out General Porpoise coffee and donuts on the 2nd floor. Lots of tables to enjoy the ambiance of the natural environment within the Spheres while enjoying some amazing coffee. In some circles, the spheres are known as Bezos' Balls lol. You gotta admit though, it does take some cajones to decide you want to construct a set of conjoined glass dome triplets smack dab in the middle of Seattle. The spheres are for use as a workspace and lounge for Amazon employees but they do offer admission to the public on certain days. We knew someone who worked at Amazon and were able to get in on a random weekday. Once we were inside I was amazed by all the unique and exotic plant life spanning the globe. Where else can you find an entire plant wall that spans several levels?
