Such a lovely, low-lighting, peaceful vibe restaurant. Went on a Wednesday night and it was not busy, seating was quick. Shrimp tempura was absolutely delicious, perfect coating and crunch. Edamame was a fun appetizer as we waiting for the rolls. Rolls came out pretty quick. The Seahawks roll was very smokey, savory, with a wide variety of flavors. The Godzilla roll was on the sweeter side. The glaze on top tied in the whole collection of flavors within. Overall, dinner was about $55

    Happy hour Gyoza

I live nearby and recently decided to try their happy hour. I was surprised to find only three items on the happy hour menu - not what I would consider a true happy hour selection. I ordered the gyoza, priced at $6 during happy hour, but the regular menu offers six pieces for $8, so it didn't seem like much of a deal. Still, the gyoza were excellent and perfectly fried. They do offer happy hour drinks at decent prices. I tried the crunch roll and was pleasantly surprised by the delightful crunchy toppings. I've heard from friends that their chicken wings are excellent, so I'll be returning to try those on my next visit! The service was fine nothing to complain about. The kitchen staff even greeted me once I walked through the door but I was the only person in there. Great seating areas and very welcoming.

How I heard of this place: In conversation with friends about favorite neighborhood eateries, a couple of the establishments at this intersection came up. Yopparai, among them. When my sister was visiting we made it a point to try at least one of these newer restaurants in our neighborhood. Type of cuisine: A fusion of Japanese and Korean cuisine, set in a bar, a space encouraging inebriation from the name itself, meaning "drunkard". Ambiance: From the mini parking lot in front, one wouldn't expect such a large space inside. Two stories, with loft-like dining area upstairs (closed the day we were there), the downstairs has plenty of seating for small and larger parties. The bar is off-limits to those under age, but is adjacent to the dining space. Televisions in the bar, mellow, intriguing artwork throughout and matching table settings give the space a uniform and comforting feel. What I ordered: To start, we selected honey garlic and yangnyum a traditional sauce atop Korean chicken wings ($22/order), then continued on to our sushi selections: Greenwood Roll ($15) - cucumber, asparagus, cream cheese, avocado, Sunset Roll ($17) - spicy tuna inside & tuna, salmon, avocado, tobiko, spicy mayo, lemon atop, and Crazy Salmon Roll ($16) - spicy salmon and avocado inside, seared salmon and spicy mayo atop. A Shrimp Tempura Udon ($12) rounded out the meal. What I loved: Everything was great! The udon broth was flavorful and tasty, the wings crisp and well coated, the sushi options full of punch with each bite. Why I loved it: The food was delicious, the space clean and neat. Cost: Average

Yopparai has a large menu, especially with lots of different rolls to choose from. I had trouble picking only a few because there were a lot I wanted to try. The prices are standard - not too high, but not cheap either. The size of the rolls are standard as well. The prices for wings are about a dollar or couple dollars higher than Sodam chicken's. I like sauce on sushi rolls, so I liked that they put a decent amount on each one. The only roll I tried that wasn't so great was the Seahawks roll. I would come here again just to try other rolls I didn't get the first time. The staff is also very nice, but we didn't get water refills once we finished the water jug.

Tried to check out Yopparai earlier, but it was a no go due to the parking situation. This time I parked on Greenwood and we walked over (7/19/24). It is located where 105th meets up with Holman and Greenwood. Tiny strip mall that has a Jiffy Lube, massage/spa, Vietnamese spot, Mexican spot, and Yopparai. It used to be Stilos, Alibi Room, and Snoose Junction. Yopparai has two level indoor seating, bar seating, and a sliver of outdoor seating. Decent spot for groups to meet up, smaller parties have a meal, small bites & beverage while watching a game, chilling out after work...you get the general idea. The Homie and I got a collection of items from their QR code menu. Stuck with chilled water, passed on any other beverages. *Provided a sampler of their Yangnyum chicken wings. I snagged a bite and a swipe of that delicious sauce, The Homie devoured this. *Shrimp Tempura (5 pieces,$10). We both enjoyed this. Nicely battered and fried, I even ate the tails. *Chicken Karaage ($10). Enjoyed this too because the two pieces eaten were succulent chicken thigh bites. The Homie savored the rest. *Tater Tots ($7). Again, nicely fried and served with ketchup. *Salmon nigiri (2 pieces, $7). Fresh, generously sized. Definitely chomped that. *Two sets of Negihamachi (6 pieces, $8 each). Enjoyed that, fresh, and uncomplicated. Rice, hamachi, wrapped in nori. *Curry Udon ($12). I liked the bite to the two udon noodles sampled. Flavorful curry with a bit of heat to it. The Homie got done in and had to get a takeout box. Just hope the curry udon doesn't soak through the compostable box. Thankfully, it didn't, but would have felt better if offered a recyclable lidded plastic container. Nice sampler of menu items, with tax & tip was a little over $82. Pleasant service. A plus, we provided some Korean brand wet wipes, which came in handy during our meal and did not have a perfumy after scent. It was only their 11th day of business, but kind of empty for a Friday evening. Give Yopparai a try and help them get further established!

This place is awesome! I came here after work with my coworkers. The food was delicious. I had the gyoza, which were crunchy and hot. Some places make them soggy and I don't like that. But these were so delicious that we ordered another plate of them. The miso soup was hot with plenty green onions, just the way I like it! I also had the Seahawks roll. It had crab, cucumber, tempura shrimp, cooked salmon and a spicy salmon sauce. It was to die for. I don't like cucumbers but they went perfectly with this roll. I don't think it would have tasted as good without them and they offered a textural contrast that was pleasing. I liked that everything on this roll is cooked. I am immunocompromised and cannot eat any type of raw meat or fish. This roll was made for people like me! My coworkers really enjoyed their food as well. I liked mine so much that I went back a few days later for the same things I had ordered on my first visit. The owner remembered me. She was so nice. I will return simply because she was genuinely friendly and seemed happy to have us there. It's definitely worth a try, you won't be disappointed!

    Sunset Roll

Everything was FIRE! Gyoza was super flavorful and crispy and the garlic soy wings were amazing. Loved the sunset roll as well. Service was excellent and the place is super cute. Will be back again and again!

I will be coming back here OFTEN. Quality ingredients, and just great food. We split the crazy salmon roll, Seattle roll, dynamite roll, and Korean wings between three people and were all FULL. I would order everything we ordered again, but everything else has to be just as good. The wings are CRISPY and the sushi tasted really fresh. Ambiance is good - very chill place (would be good for a date). There is a little bar area too, which we didn't enter. I think the upstairs was closed when we were there. Service was also great. We did have to ask for water once, but I drink a lot of water at restaurants. Our server was otherwise great - she was very sweet and did check with us multiple times. I will definitely be back!

Took this for a friend before the food arrived. After that I was too busy eating to take photos.

Great service, delicious food and they have soju! We ordered Korean fried chicken, sushi, gyoza and seaweed salad. Everything was prepared quickly, was fresh and tasty. This is a great addition to the neighborhood! Can't wait to be back. We sat outside and it was lovely. The server brought us baby wipes for when we were done with the wings.

Accommodating and nice for us coming in late, prices were sick and the food was actually epicness tbh pretty nice

    Chicken Karaage

The hospitality was really great but the food wasn't mindblowing. I loved the honey garlic fried chicken and the sauce that came with the karaage, but the karaage batter wasn't my favorite and the sushi we got kind of just felt mushy. I would go back for the fried chicken!

The menu and experience differ between lunch and dinner, and this is my lunch review. Simply put, lunch is much more casual and affordable than dinner (You order lunch scanning the QR code at the table). If you're on a budget, you can eat lunch here for less than $20. I went here for lunch twice during my business trip last month and here's what I ordered: - Seafood Tofu Soup - $17.50 - A seafood soondoobu (순두부) with a generous helping of soft tofu, shrimp, mussels and clam, served with rice. Delicious, refreshing and not spicy-I bet they could make it spicy if you asked. I enjoyed the texture from the cabbage bits. - Seolleongtang (설렁탕) - $15.50 - Oxtail bone broth served with potato starch noodles and brisket, comes with salt and green onion already added(typically doesn't at other Korean restaurants). High-quality ingredients and flavor, a great comfort food with a generous serving of brisket. - Shaved ice dessert (빙수) - $9.00 - A great combination of cinnamon, ginger cream and fried rice puffs. Delicious and different than other Korean shaved ice desserts I've had that typically have red bean and overly sweet ingredients. If you're on the fence about coming here, maybe try out lunch first. Lunch is more casual, affordable and simpler than dinner, but is delicious and high-quality. You should come here for dinner too, and I'll post about my dinners here soon.

I dislike the more common 'elevated' where a restaurant makes changes such as swapping meat cuts from traditional recipes to something wagyu without any added thought or creativity in the process. Not at Paju. They are Koreans elevating Korean dishes. The dishes are refined and well-honed. Their creativity shows they know what they are doing. Plating is thoughtful. The restaurant itself is modernly elegant, great for date nights. Note the restaurant is quiet and elegant; perhaps they have a private room for loud celebrations. Staff was helpful with my questions. Food was available in a timely manner. The Food: Octopus, $27 - 5 Stars Served with smoked trout roe and dashima beurrie blanc sauce, this dish is visually attractive and absolutely delicious! One of our top dishes of the night. Paju Fried Rice, $27 - 4 Stars Cooked with kimchi, bacon, squid ink, and quail egg, this dish is one of their most popular dishes. I find squid ink to have a subtle earthy type of sea-umami flavor. The bacon and kimchi are a touch stronger in this combination. It's a good dish, but amongst our five dishes, this one ranked the lowest. Mushrooms, $23 - 5 Stars Served with parmesan cheese shaved so thin it's translucent, white kimchi, and truffle aioli, this dish is the bomb! Excellent for the mushroom lovers, it might convert mushroom haters, too. Lol. Another top dish of the night. Branzino Gui, $51 - 4 Stars Served with four banchan, this dish stands out for its execution - impeccably grilled and plated. The fish is very tender and perfectly cooked. I do think it is a bit plain for the price. Branzino is fairly common in different parts of the world. Ranked 4th for the night. Duck - 5 Stars Duck breast is served with a slice of duck and pistachio pastry plus four banchan. The duck is super tender. The pastry is clever utilizing other bits of duck meat. The simple sauce is very important, adding flavor to the pastry. Also delicious.

The staff is gracious, prompt, professional, and - I hope no one objects when I say this - rather attractive. Generous portions and reasonable prices for what you're getting. The food is nothing sort of legendary - bold flavors and dishes have the perfect balance of sweet, heat, savory, and umami. THE THORNS: None significant enough to mention. NEITHER ROSE NOR THORN: It is important to note that this place is insanely popular with the area's Korean community. The restaurant is quite busy Thursday thru Sunday, and significant waits for a table are likely. Monday thru Wednesday is your best time for going and getting a table without a wait. The price of some dishes, like their signature offering, Kalbijjim, might give you a pause ($80+). It is important to keep in mind this is made to order, and one serving can easily serve four regular appetites. If you're just a couple, you're definitely going to be taking this home with you. This is not a bad thing, as Kalbijjim is one of those dishes that is even better the next day and doesn't suffer from reheating. THE VERDICT: Daeho Kalbijjim is extremely popular, and it's not hard to see why. The execute authentic Korean cuisine pretty much flawlessly with efficient and charming service. The first time I visited, the quality of the meat cuts didn't impress me, and the soups lacked depth of flavor. I'm not talking about needing more salt--the broth itself just tasted flat. When you're paying close to $30 for a bowl of soup, I think it's reasonable to expect a higher level of quality and care to ingredients. The second visit was a mixed experience. To be fair, I was in the wrong. There is a clearly posted policy stating that your entire party must be present before being seated. My group was about seven minutes away, and since I had already checked in on Yelp and there were only two parties ahead of me with no one physically waiting, I asked if I could be seated and order while I waited. I had already been standing inside for about 10 minutes. I was told that although tables were available, seating me ahead of the other parties on the waitlist would be unfair. I understood the reasoning, but she had also asked prior for my order. Her explanation left me confused so i sheepishly said I understood the policy. She already seemed upset by the time i had gotten there. Sometimes we have off days i get that. This place is clearly hit or miss, I've got friends who absolutely swear by it. For me, though, it wasn't anything special and didn't justify the price. If you're looking for Korean food in the area, I've had better experiences with higher-quality dishes elsewhere, especially in Lynnwood.

Once they received their order, I heard the couple tell the sever that everything was very good multiple times- their food did look good! I recommend checking this place out especially with the new ownership. Menu looks similar from previous owners, but will for sure go back and try something else!
