Seared Kama Toro - collar of the tuna, my favorite piece!
    Melissa C.

My husband and I were lucky enough to snag a 7pm reservation on a Saturday. Sadly we weren't served by Shiro but was able to see him! We learned from the hostess that you can request him on your reservation or you have to be among the earliest to arrive in your seating to get him. He alternates days he works so it's never guaranteed. The omakase was $180 per person although we opted for an additional 3 piece seared course which was an extra $30 and well worth it. My favorite pieces were the seared Kama toro, uni, seared king salmon belly and albacore belly. My husband's favorites were the saba mackerel and scallop. The pickled herring was a surprisingly unique nigiri we both enjoyed too. We have tried a number of sushi restaurants in Seattle and Sushi Kashiba still ranks at the top! Sitting at the bar is definitely the way to go if you can get a counter reservation.

The sushi was good, and the ambiance offers a more open, public take on the omakase experience. My friend and I made reservations and were warmly welcomed. It's a convenient and enjoyable choice for omakase while visiting Pike Place Market.

Well. I don't even know where to start with this experience. All the amazing. ALL THE AMAZING! Supreme service, superb food, nice cozy atmosphere, and fair prices. The omasake was 100% worth it. Never left so full from sushi LOL Next time I'd stay away from the cocktails, those fell short, but hey, we were there for the sushi. And it did not disappoint. There's also counter dinning 3 times a night and the reservations are strict.

Definitely one of the better omakase's I've had! It was tucked away in a small area that you couldn't really find just from looking on the outside. We had a reservation for the bar and got sat pretty quickly. Both the staff and our chef was super attentive and really friendly. I really enjoyed how they presented each piece, as they went through the main types of fish at a time. All the salmons, then the tunas, etc. it really let me compare all the different cuts of the fish which is harder to do with standard omakase's. A lot of these fish melt in my mouth which is definitely an understatement! We also got the supplementary bites at the end which had some wagyu and more fish. This was all topped off with a super simple, light, and sweet tamago dessert which I wish I had more of. Overall a definite recommend if you're in the area and are open to splurging a bit on sushi

If you're looking for some of the best sushi in the Pacific Northwest, Sushi Kashiba absolutely deserves a spot on your list. Located by Pike Place Market, it's one of those places people talk about for a reason. The ambiance feels authentic, warm, and welcoming. Refined without feeling stuffy. Before even getting to the sushi, we started with a rye cocktail called the High Tea. It may be one of the most dangerously balanced cocktails I've had in a while. Smooth, flavorful, and so well balanced you almost forget there's alcohol in it. (Proceed with caution, or don't. Live your life.) We started with Nigiri. The Mackerel was definitely salty, as our server warned us ahead of time, but the Spanish Mackerel was more subtle and balanced. Both the King Salmon and Atlantic Salmon were excellent. Each piece had just the right amount of brushed wasabi. Enough to enhance the fish without overpowering it. For Maki, we tried the Spicy Tuna and the Kashiba roll. The Spicy Tuna had the perfect level of heat, even if you don't like spice. Noticeable but not overwhelming. The Kashiba roll was the only item that didn't fully land for me. It had a very strong ocean-forward flavor that some people may love, but it just wasn't quite my thing. Now, the star of the evening was the Black Cod. This is one of the dishes the restaurant is known for, and after trying it I completely understand why. It may honestly be the best cod I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, flaky, rich, and incredibly flavorful. Service was excellent throughout the night. The staff clearly know the menu well and guide you through the experience, and everything arrived surprisingly quickly considering the level of care in the preparation. Pro tip: None of the dishes are overly large and you can easily try many different things from the menu like we did without being too full. If you're visiting Seattle or simply want an exceptional sushi experience, Sushi Kashiba lives up to the hype.

Sushi Kashiba is truly a Seattle treasure. For over 50 years, Chef Kashiba has been perfecting his craft, and it shows in every bite. As a three time James Beard Award nominee for Outstanding Chef, his reputation speaks for itself, but it's the experience here that really makes it unforgettable. Located right next to Pike Place Market, Sushi Kashiba delivers fine Japanese cuisine in its purest form. The omakase-style dining is a must, just sit back and trust the artistry of Chef Kashiba and his team. Each course is beautifully prepared, perfectly balanced, and a reflection of decades of dedication to the craft. Reservations are highly recommended if you want to secure your spot, because this isn't just dinner. it's a culinary experience that draws visitors from all over the world. If you want the best sushi Seattle has to offer, Sushi Kashiba is the place.

Would absolutely recommend the omakase experience. The sushi chefs are lovely and super personable. The sushi tastes incredibly fresh. I have been twice and have been consistently impressed with their seasonal fish selections and changes to their omakase menu.

High end sushi with high end prices around Pike Place Market. Went on a Sunday evening - had reservations, but had to wait a few minutes to talk to a staff member. Eventually was able to check in and was seated. The ambiance is your typical Japanese minimalistic/modern vibes. Ordered a small sake bottle as well as various sushi bits. Had all the nigiri salmon sushi pieces. Everything is good (maybe a little bland) - but the price sort of put me off for what it was (comparing to higher end sushi places in LA / NYC). Not sure I'd come back but will see.

On this trip to Seattle, my goal was to dine at places other than the ones I've frequented on prior trips. I used Yelp and Google to find the highest rated restaurants within walking distance from my hotel ... Anything within a mile was feasible. Sushi Kashiba is located on the ground floor of the Inn at the Park Hotel, one of my favorite hotels in Seattle. I made a reservation in June for the 7pm seating as they only accept a reservation for one at 7pm and 9pm. I was seated in position 3 so I had the good fortune to be served by the master himself, Shiro Kashiba, now 83. The Chef's Counter Omakase ($180) runs 1.75 hours and consists of 23 courses: 1 hand roll, 20 pieces of nigiri sushi, miso soup and tofu in broth. One can order an additional 3 pieces of sushi for $30, up to two times. Accompanying my meal, I had two glasses of Elise Dechannes Essentielle NV Champagne ($29ea) and one glass of Vocaret Chablis ($23). Every piece of sushi was delicious and being able to speak with Chef Kashiba was priceless. My only nitpick was I would have preferred to be served nigiri one piece at a time rather than in groups of three or four. I understand the need to meet the 1.75-hour timeline but that meant that the fish sat longer. At a Michelin star sushi restaurant I enjoyed earlier this year, the pieces were served one at a time and we were asked to consume it within 10 seconds of it being placed in front of us. They only did two seatings per evening, and the cost was commensurately higher. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Sushi Kashiba and would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended! To your health, Chef Kashiba!

I dream of the omakase meal I had here. It's pricey but worth every penny. It's hands down the best sushi I've ever had. Some of the most unique flavors I've ever had of nigiri. Even after going to Japan, nothing compares to Sushi Kashiba. Service is exceptional and the staff were so attentive and ready in a heartbeat for anything. Great ambiance and it was an amazing experience at the sushi counter. I can't wait to go back!

A Seattle icon. Edomae style meets Pacific Northwest right in the heart of Pike Place Market. We tried Sushi Kashiba as a last minute decision My fiancé wasn't blown away but there were a few pieces we agreed on. Also we were hoping to try Ankimo (monkfish liver) but it wasn't available today. The details: $160 pp for omakase, which included about 15 pieces of nigiri, 1 hand roll, 3 pieces of sashimi. What we enjoyed - Uni from Hokkaido / Japan - Flounder from Korea - Amberjack from Japan - Otoro and seared bluefin tuna from Baja California

We wanted to do a fancy dinner for our last full day in Seattle! I booked a reservation for four, a couple days before our dinner and was able to snag the last spot for a Saturday night. We got seated immediately upon arrival and the service was fantastic. Our server was wonderful and knowledgeable and took time to explain everything we were eating. All four of us did the Omakase dinner for $160 a piece. It was a wonderful experience and I had some of my favorite all time bites ever in this meal! The cold egg custard came first, then the hand roll, then appetizer trio, followed by two sets of our (6 piece) nigiri, followed by a set of (3 piece) nigiri, and finally a dessert finish with two pieces of nigiri and a miso soup. Everything was phenomenal. My favorite bite ever was the amaebi!! This was the BEST amaebi I have ever had. The fried head of the amaebi is just as important as the body. It was fried to perfection, it was the perfect crunch while retaining all of its creamy juicy innards. It was so good, my friend and I got an additional amaeabi each! The body was super sweet and just delightful. Honorable mentions, the uni!! Best, so sweet, so creamy, so melt in your mouth goodness! Everything about this meal was amazing. The desert finisher with the tamago and the fried eel donut nigiri was also insane. I have never had fried eel nigiri before and this was it. It was like nothing I've ever had and it tasted like an eel donut! So good! I had a wonderful view of pike place with the sign and also the Ferris wheel peaking behind. This dinner was definitely one for the books! Also be aware, that in lieu of tipping they do have a 20% surcharge fee that acts as tipping. Our total for four omakase, two additional nigiri and two beers was roughly 1K. So definitely pricy but very worth it!

    Fried Unagi and Tamago

We sat at a table and had the omakase while our kids had a few sushi pieces and appetizers. The sushi pieces are cut really thin. I've eaten at various omakase sushi restaurants and have never seen the pieces cut this small and thin. The shoyu brushed on is a little light for me. Personal preference. Kids had the salmon and tuna sushi, agedashi tofu, tempura set, kanpachi collar, and black cod. They enjoyed all the dishes. Overall good experience but felt has the waiter was pushing to order more food and pushing more sake than we wanted to order. Wanted us to order 720ml when I'm the only one drinking. Some individuals might be able to finish but a little too much for me. Overall, I thought the prices were a bit high for what they offered. Sushi was fresh and appetizers were very good but I guess the prices are set for a tourist area where they can charge higher prices.

Want to buy a gift card as a gift but can't tell the price of the meals, what would be a good amount to purchase?

Does this place take American Express?

    Yes! Of course!

How many spotsin their sushi bar?

    12!

How do we get on the waitlist for sushi bar? Do we come the day of and wait until they open at 5:00pm? If so, how early should we get in line?

Yes, you come the day of and wait. We arrived around 4:15 on a Wednesday and were given the second round of seating at 7pm. If you want to be seated at the first round at 5pm, I recommend arriving no later than 4pm (maybe earlier on the weekends).

How hard is it to get in (for two) at the chef's counter on a weeknight? If you arrive shortly before 5PM is it easy to get a spot or do you have to arrive way earlier?

It wasn't that hard for us at 5pm... and we had 5 people

How much is the omakase at the chef counter?

    $175

Where do you park ? I have a late reservation and am worried about how safe it is there

We parked at Pike Place Market and it was a short walk to the restaurant. At the time it was safe to park there but I haven't been that area since 2019.

Can someone tell me how much Omakase at the sushi bar will come out to?

Depends if you are drinking ....for two of us with sake it was over 300 plus tip

How much does the omakase cost for one person?

    $125/person

    Is outdoor seating available?

I didn't see any, but it was raining when I went.

Do they take parties of one? I am unable to make a reservation online. I don't want to be a "walk-in"

I don't see why not. Maybe try calling them instead of trying to make a reservation online.

    Is it omakase only?

No, you can also order individualized entrees.

I'm planning to go with my partner and want to try the omakase. My partner isn't adventurous when it comes to sushi. Is it possible to still sit at the bar with one person to experience the omakase and the other person with regular order?

    What is the dress code?

    There isn't one. But I wouldn't wear gym clothes. I think it's a 4 or 5 star restaurant.

I'm trying to make a reservation and 1 of the availability is 9pm, how does that work if they close at 9?

You can just ask them. We've only done take-out (learned of them during the pandemic), so we haven't dealt with reservations. But, they're very gracious and their customer service is really good!… Read more

Do they allow to split the check 2 ways?

Yes, and they will also do separate checks if you ask.

Does anyone know if chef Kashiba is there during the lunches as well or only dinners?

How does the sushi in the dining room compare to what you receive at the sushi bar?

Same quality. Restaurant is not that big so no matter where you sit, it's all great.

How far in advance do they take reservations?

I was able to make reservations 1 day in advance as long as you are flexible on time. They had either early or late once. We went at 8.

The biggest complaint was actually the cutlets - despite a nice crunch to it, something felt a little off. Like the cutlets were a bit old or were previously reheated or something. I was pleasantly surprised to see their combos come with additional appetizers like the agadashi tofu, the salad with dressing choices, and miso soup. The chicken katsu definitely had more meat and a thinner layer of breading as an FYI. I ordered the sushi combo for 38 dollars and got great tasting sushi for that price. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you want somewhere casual with good options and little extra items mixed in with your meals. It's definitely not like Umi, or Shirros but you're also paying like 1/3 to 1/2 the price. I definitely see myself returning when I want a quick or convenient bite to eat (it's one block from my home).

My waitress gave me a warm towel to clean my hands and I appreciated the gesture. I ordered miso soup, a hand roll and one of their specialty sushi roll. Westlake roll: spicy California roll with sliced salmon and lemon red onion with mild mayo 5 pcs. Delicious, fresh and satisfying for me. 5/5 I also decided to get a hand roll and went with the Cajun salmon hand roll. The hand roll was made well, stuffed and fresh salmon. The sauce added a great flavor overall. 5/5 Service went well and staff were attentive the whole time I was there. It was busy and the staff kept up with the flow.

The best part is the complimentary edamame with flaky salt. I'd come back for this detail alone. The setting inside is nice and bright, and the servers are very friendly. You'll probably want to make a reservation to be on the safe side because the restaurant isn't very large.

Momiji was one of those and it was extremely close to the movie theater we were walking out of. Sushi sounded great so we strolled over to get some. The sushi didn't disappoint... not in the slightest! We got some specialty rolls off of that portion of the menu and they were so very good! Fresh and extremely flavorful! Moonraker was one of the rolls we got. I highly recommend it! In addition to that we got an order of the Spicy Tofu... again delicious and made an excellent side with our sushi! I got a hard alcohol I wasn't used to getting. It was fun and it was quite good! It was Shochu which is a distilled beverage and involves sweet potato. If memory serves I got the one with sweet potato and pear. Very different but very good. It had a nice dryness to it. To wrap it all up we got some deep fried mochi ice cream. It held up nicely to being a great finish to a very high quality meal. We are definitely coming back!
