Was kind of taken off guard at how good the food is here, wow! I needed some dinner but it was starting to get late so choose this place as it closed at 10pm. I walked in at 8:30pm and only one other table of 2 dining in. It was pretty quiet and dimly lit and great soft jazzy music playing and service was prompt and nice. The decor in here is great and its a nice spot for an intimate dinner. I choose a sushi regular set which comes with miso soup and salad, 5 pieces of nigiri and 3 pieces of California roll and 3 pieces of spicy tuna roll. All of the food was fantastic and the fish was very fresh and I very much enjoyed my dinner. The place wasnt awkward at all and by 9pm, 3 other parties showed up to dine in with many solo diners. This being close to campus, I see how solo diners are welcomed and opening until 10pm definitely still brings in hungry students. Overall, a great dinner and would definitely return. Came here for a friends birthday dinner. I felt so bad because there were 10 of us but they were so good and nice about it! Since there were 10 of us we had quite a few rolls and I was sure that it was going to be a while before we would get them. I was pleasantly surprised that we didn't have to wait long at all! And the presentation of the rolls was very well done! The people serving us were very patient with our large group but still stayed attentive to us. The sushi tasted good and they had a lot of your favorite classics available. There were even non sushi options available as well which I always think is a good thing! The inside was well decorated with a variety of things. There were paintings, photos, sound system collections and more. It was a little interesting as a whole but I think they made it work well. I was in Seattle for a work trip and *had* to try some local sushi. Village sushi was the perfect place to do so! One of the best shrimp tempura rolls I've ever had, easily. The staff was incredibly kind, even at the late hour of 9pm. I had a fluke and needed a picture of my receipt and the following day Sang had no issue of helping me out. Salmon roll: my favorite! Nice balance of fatty delicious salmon with a melt in your mouth texture. Mango mochi: mango-flavored ice cream served with whip cream. A nice portion all for yourself or easily split. I wish I could have the option to sample all 3 flavors without needing to order each one individually. Wonderful restaurant with an unexpected ambiance. Lots of pretty oil paintings mixed in with the traditional Japanese style decor. Jazz playing was a nice touch too. Sushi was very good and definitely had the most unique plating I've seen so far. The micro greens inside the spider roll was a cute touch. Definitely not cheap for the amount that you get (about $15 for both rolls, with the spider roll only having 5 pieces), but for an occasional nice outing it's worth it. I did not leave feeling full though, so keep that in mind. My boyfriend got the chicken katsu which was very good from the bite I had. About $16.30 if I recall. I will probably get that next time as the amount of food he got better suited the price tag. Overall a wonderful restaurant and I will be sure to come back again. read more

One of my favorite spots to grab some great sushi is Village Sushi in UW District. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. We waited about 15-20 minutes around a table. I've been here once before and couldn't wait to come back. The interior is so warm and cozy and truly a great date night spot. We ordered the V-Roll, Dragon Roll, Dynamite Roll, and Godzilla Roll. Everything was so delicious and fresh. There was an ample amount of fish within each roll especially the Dynamite roll. The hamachi (yellow tail) was so fresh and definitely a standout. I came here for dinner on a weekday, and it was not busy. Upon entering, I was greeted by the chef and server, and they allowed me to sit anywhere in the restaurant. The restaurant is small, with dimmed lighting and lots of art. Service is excellent, as the server periodically checks in on me. I ordered the Spicy Salmon roll, Negi-Hama handroll, and Paradise roll. The food took less time to come out; it took roughly about 10 minutes. My favorite roll has to be the Spicy Salmon roll. Sounds basic, but I loved how spicy the salmon roll was. Usually, it tends not to be spicy when I order a spicy salmon roll at other sushi restaurants. However, the spiciness level exceeded my expectations at Village Sushi. Overall, the fish's freshness and the rolls' presentation were top-notch. The meal was close to $40 for three rolls, and I was very satisfied with the results. If you love eating salmon and want a kick to it, I highly recommend the Spicy Salmon roll. read more

I got a few rolls to share with a friend and they were all pretty good (although I think their eel sauce is too sweet and it really threw me off). We waited very very long for our food to come out, and so did everyone else, as the people next to us were complaining about the wait time as well. I really hope I had just an off day. My partner and I came in here after a show at the Neptune due to the high reviews. Upon entering there is a pretty strong fishy smell. I know it's a sushi restaurant, duh, but it was fishier than other sushi restaurants I go to, so I was kind of nervous maybe the fish wasn't as fresh. We ordered a tempura roll, tempura udon, beef yakisoba, gyoza, and salmon and tobiko nigiri. The gyoza and tempura was good. However, my partner noted that the yakisoba had no flavor. I thought he was being picky because the yakisoba was pretty brown, but he gave me a piece to try and it legit didn't even have that much salt on it. My udon tasted watered down compared to other places as well. After trying the sushi, it left a pretty fishy taste in my mouth that I didn't like (and yes, I eat a lot of sushi, I'm not overreacting). Overall, we agreed that we won't be returning here. The service was great, the artwork had an interesting look, the place was a little old, but most importantly the food wasn't good in my opinion. If you go, I'd say stick to the rolls, they're most likely your best bet. read more

My go-to chirashi bowl spot. They always give you a wide selection of sashimi and the food is delicious. We love the vibe there as well. Decided to try out a different sushi place and he found this place. The place inside has an eclectic feel to it. When we stepped in, there were 4 empty tables but we were told by the female server to wait 15-20 minutes, which I found super baffling. We were just standing there at the door while she walked back to her counter doing stuff. A guy came out from the kitchen area, saw us standing, and approached the female server, seemingly telling her to tend to us and seat us (he was pointing at us while talking). But she shook her head. After 15 minutes wait, the female server came back and seated us at the table right in front of our eyes that had been empty for the past 15 minutes. We were off to not so-good start. Husband was starving, confused, and pissed thinking we could have sat down and were given an extra time to look at the menu while waiting instead of just standing there. We ordered Salmon Sashimi, Eel Roll, Goma Steak, Saba Shioyaki, Rainbow Roll, and Supersonic Roll. The Salmon Sashimi was amazing and fresh. Goma Steak was also really good. My Saba Shioyaki was too salty and a little dry. For the Eel Roll, I didn't really enjoy but I have always been really particular about eels. The other sushi rolls that we ordered were just okay. They weren't bad but not mind-blowing either. So our first visit wasn't the greatest and wasn't too memorable. But considering the salmon sashimi was indeed very fresh, I do feel compelled to try out their omakase one day. read more

The interior of this space is very dark, a little crowded, and for that reason noisy (my friend and I overheard many conversations of the people seated around us). The server was very polite and kind. She took her time to explain the menu items and clarify what came with each item. The miso soup and side salad were brought our first. The salad had a little too much dressing for the small portion, my bowl had a good amount left in it after I finished and the last few pieces of lettuce were soaked. I ordered the 5pc Sashimi. It was beautifully presented and very fresh- no overly fishy smell or taste. It came with daikon and shiso leaf as well which added to the beauty of it.
