Sushi Combo
C. R.

Consistently great sushi and katsu place on the Ave near the University of Washington with kind owners! I've gotten a variety of dishes here, and I've enjoyed all of it. Some of my favorites include the fried sashimi appetizer, the katsu-don, and the salmon sashimi. Service is quick and friendly, and the restaurant has a very relaxing atmosphere, which makes it a great stop at the end of a long day. I would recommend!

Chicken Katsu
Myrnie T.

Very delicious! Food was great, if a bit salty, and perfect for a drizzly spring day. I had the curry udon chicken katsu because I didn't want to make a choice and it had everything in it haha. Katsu was super crisp, udon was bouncy, rice was perfect. He ordered the chicken katsu don and I'm not certain we got the right dish because he ended up with udon and katsu? Regardless, it was delicious.

Spicy white tuna poke.

This is the second time I've been to this restaurant. Both occasions have been very pleasant. The first time I came around 7pm, it was packed. Today I arrived at 5pm and I am the only person here (both visits were on random weekdays). I ordered the spicy white tuna poke and a nigori - both were very tasty. The restaurant is clean and the staff have been very friendly.

Curry Pork Loin Katsu

It wasn't super busy on a Tuesday evening, but it is also the summer so there aren't many students around. We got seated fairly quickly and the workers were nice. The curry pork loin katsu was pretty good and the portion size was enough for a full meal. The katsu was super crispy and delicious! I also got a rainbow roll and a piece of sake salmon. I will say the prices for the fish do feel a bit pricey when compared to other places in the area. The sake salmon was quite large and fatty, so I think it can make up for the price. The fish I tried all were flavorful and delicious, so I enjoyed the food overall. The servers were nice but they never noticed to refill our water even though we were there for a while. Otherwise they were great!

Very clean, very fresh food. Friendly service and excellent suggestions! Sushi tacos were great!-two different styles. Not yet on menu! Nice upscale but unimposing decor, pleasant background music. Terrific flavors. Sushi tacos were my favorite! Hope they make it to menu soon!

Caterpillar roll and Inari
Diana C.

The gentleman at the counter was very kind and welcoming as well as highly efficient. We just grabbed some take out and it was ready pretty quickly. The ambiance was nice and spacious too. I had the caterpillar roll and Inari and then my partner had the shrimp tempura roll. We both liked our rolls and felt the quality was good and fresh and traveled quite well. It was also well packaged.

West coast roll, dragon roll
Julia L.

We ordered the west coast roll and the dynamite roll, as well as 2 salmon sushi. The salmon sushi was okay but wouldn't recommend - it was served with a lot of rice so we couldn't really taste the salmon very well. West coast roll was pretty good - salmon quality was to be expected at the price point. I really enjoyed the dynamite roll. Food came out quickly, so if you're in the area craving sushi and want it fast, Yu Sushi would be a good option!

A Chinese family opened this Japanese restaurant. The food was surprisingly good. I like the baked sushi, which is called Lion King. The katsu and sashimi was just okay.

Udistrict food walk - katsu
Louise F.

Came here for the udistrict food walk although this place seemed to participate unofficially. We couldn't help but wait in the line for a $2 katsu. Even with so much going on that day, the people working the orders were fast and pleasant. The bang for buck was 100% there, was a solid little strip of katsu, and the katsu sauce on it was tangy and not too sweet either.

My new favorite sushi place on the Ave! I will say that there's not much variety to the rolls, but overall fresh tasting and delicious sushi rolls and a nice interior!

Menu, but they have a e-menu with photos where you order from

Good sushi spot on the ave, just a nice spot to check out and sit down if you're craving sushi on campus. Nothing to write home about, the sushi was good. I want to try the udon and katsu/curry next. The table next to me ordered the curry and it looks delicious! Cute decorations and the lady in the front was very nice.

Curry Chicken Katsu.

Came here on a friday night and it was not busy at all. Ordered the curry chicken katsu and it was exactly what I wanted. The curry was strong which went well with the rice and the chicken. Side salad was decent. Food came out quickly and the service was good. They gave me a container of water for the table.

The window closed abruptly and without any communication to the line of at least 15 people patiently waiting. Very strange and rude. Not sure it's worth waiting 30 min for ice cream to then have the line close without any notice.

So glad we finally came here! And we're super excited to return…read more We had a great selection of omakase sashimi and ten skewers for under $60. The environment is really comfortable and feels surprisingly intimate given the high ceilings and large footprint. Servers were busy but very kind and followed through on each request, regularly stopping by to refill water and check on us (but not to an annoying extent). We ordered only from the happy hour menu because they had a ton of good sounding options there. The yakiton came first and was really greasy and black peppery. The yakitori meat was smaller than the chicken skewers I've gotten at Southeast Asian restaurants in the Seattle area, but these ones had a softer texture like teriyaki chicken. The kalbi beef was inconsistent. One of our plates had large pieces, while the other plate was full of small pieces. The smaller kalbi was drier. The bigger kalbi was chewier. I'd stick to ordering kalbi from Korean restaurants where the meat is more tender and easier to eat. The best item we ordered was the crispy chicken wings. They really were crispy - nothing like I've had before in terms of crispiness. Next time I would try the JFC to compare. Something that I didn't like was that they put both orders of the wings on the same plate instead of splitting them up. They split up the kalbi plates, but nothing else. It was ok to combine the skewers because they're so tiny, but the wings were almost falling off the plate they were on and very close to being a bad jenga situation with how they were placed.

Tempura and miso was run off the mill, some nigri knocked it out of the ballpark such as toro, while other cuts were again standard. The uni looked darker than anything I've seen before and tasted, shall we say, a bit dry and potent. The rolls were okay, one better; the other had a bit of a fishy sub-aroma and was half left-over. Service was lackluster; the guy was a bit spaced out. The miso soup was forgotten, so was another order of sashimi. Also, we re-ordered some fatty tuna nigri but got served something horrible (like a piece of old, lean tuna instead) - here my spider sense was ringing as if we were intentially slipped some other cut ("they wont know the difference"). Or our server or the chef was slipping. Lackluster service and some fishyness gets a 3 star rating - could have been better and fresher. Not likely to return. Ambiance was middle of the road, neither loading ramp nor dark and cozy. They only have tables and counter seating, no booths. Of note, there is a bar across the street where they made a couple of nice after dinner cocktails - the better part of the evening.
