Mostly great Thai and Vietnamese place! It used to be my pre-finals ritual! Food is decent, only thing I would say is the spice level is a bit low for what you'd expect. But order it spicier thank you think and it will be good! Portion sizes are generous so a great place to stop if hungry. Sometimes it gets busy, so avoid peak hours! It's got a nice chill ambiance so a great place to enjoy the food!

Casual, quick, delicious. Came here with a friend around lunchtime the other day and were quickly sat, but the restaurant filled up to the brim and there was a line out the door by the time we left. It's popular, and for good reason! Food: Great portions and I love that they include rice with the noodle dishes. It seems like they have Thai/Vietnamese fusion food, and it's delicious. The Pad See Ew had a good amount of chicken and broccoli, and was balanced out with the fresh white rice. A lot of people in the restaurant were enjoying big bowls of pho, and they have banh mis for less than 10! I definitely want to go back and try some next time. Ambiance: Casual dining, standard Asian restaurant vibes. Cozy! Service: Quick and efficient, absolutely no complaints here. Overall, can't wait to come back. Delicious food and I want to try everything on the menu!

The most budget-friendly and affordable restaurant I've been to in U District! The Bahn Ami was honestly a solid 3.5/5 stars and at $8 I really did not expect that. I think I'll be back to try other dishes because wow at this price and volume of food, it's pretty reasonable!

I had the chicken Phad See Ew ($13.00) and my friend got the chicken Phad Thai ($13.00), both were relatively tasty but didn't necessarily stand out to other Thai joints. It is a relatively quick walk from the University of Washington campus and a great place to have lunch. I'm very surprised with how cheap the food is for being a sit-down restaurant, so that is definitely a plus. The ambiance and environment of the restaurant were generally inviting and cozy. The service was fine, I enjoyed that they gave us time to keep to ourselves. Overall, if you're in the area and looking to try either some Vietnamese or Thai food for cheap, definitely visit, especially for a broke college student.

Basil Kitchen has always been my go to especially since it's close to the dorms and their service is done in a timely and fast manner. I really like the chill vibe when entering the resturant and of course their pho is good in my taste.

    2nd half of Bahn mi

Bahn mi sandwich is so good! They make them fresh and it seems that they sell out for the day pretty quickly. Super quick and friendly service.

Pad See Ew with Chicken (4 stars)

Despite the restaurant name change, this restaurant still has the same menu selection as it did when it started as Spring Kitchen. However, this restaurant has finally upgraded its menus from paper takeout menus to plastic laminated menus. I ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken and 4 stars spiciness to-go. Service was prompt and I was out the door within 15 minutes with my food. The pad see ew noodles were very tasty and came with green beans, carrots, broccoli, and a side of white rice. The portion was generous, but not enough for leftovers. The noodles were also the perfect consistency and not too sweet. However, as I noted before with my prior experience here, the 4 stars spiciness level here is extremely mild. It's like they don't even put any chili paste in it. I had to add my own Korean chili sauce when I got home. While Basil might not be the best Thai food in U-District, it is convenient, especially for those heading toward west campus or to the bus stop outside of the DM. 4/5 for service and 4/5 for food

    Seating

Great Vietnamese food and great service. Very solo-dining friendly! Definitely coming back. :)

Service is exceptionally fast and was sat immediately - the staff are very kind. I did not take a picture of it but I ordered a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and shrimp fresh rolls to go after my visit. They were both very flavorful and I recommend anything off their menu - it's delicious and worth the effort to dine in but not the right place if you want to chit chat and dilly dally. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Service has declined significantly. Not only is there still a long wait for a table, but there is also an extended wait for food after you're seated. It was disappointing to watch takeout orders consistently prioritized over customers dining in the restaurant, making dine-in guests feel like an afterthought and reflecting poor management. Combined with the restaurant's recent "OK" health department rating, we've decided not to return. If you're looking for a pleasant dining experience with attentive service, you may want to consider other options.

Fast forward a year later to a Sunday at 12:30pm and I finally made the long drive here without going through Aurora Ave since my GPS randomly decided to give my road rage some grace. This place has plenty parking around the perimeter, so it was easy settling in. Only confusion was finding the entrance to this place, but when I did I was actually surprised where I was stepping into. Inside is laid back and cool with plenty of seating for groups of various sizes. There's tables and booths, and I got booth seating for myself when I walked in. There's a TV playing sports nearby where I was, and Vietnamese pop music was playing in the background too. Menu consists of regular foods in most Vietnamese restaurants, though their provincial noodle soups and banh mi sandwiches caught my eye. They even have bún măng vịt (duck and bamboo shoot noodle soup), my favorite that I gotta try next time I come here! From my IG feeds and as a starting point, I got their bánh mì thịt heo nướng (grilled pork Vietnamese sandwich), which comes with all the works of a regular banh mi sandwich, though I was kinda surprised how brightly orange the grilled pork was. Regardless, it was tasty and the meat was juicy. The pork pate added a nice savory touch to the sandwich, and no other condiment was in excess that it took away taste from the flavorful grilled pork. Staff was very kind throughout, and refilled my water every now and then. It was also nice chatting with one of them about our day and other recommendations from the menu. There's so much to have on their menu so I need to make the drive here again to have more of their stuff!

We got the banh uot tower with heo quay, banh khot, banh mi chao, and com tam. I see the appeal of the eye catching banh uot tower, but unfortunately I felt like it was very mediocre. I felt like the portion of veggie and meat wasn't enough for all the rice rolls, plus the actual heo quay was dry with barely any crispy skin. I think they also forgot to give us the heo quay because we had to ask for it much after the banh uot came out. I would skip this next time. I would also skip the banh khot as it was on the softer, chewier side when my personal preference is light and crispy. Those who do like it soft will definitely enjoy it though. As for flavor, it had an extremely prominent coconut taste- it usually isn't so strong in banh khot so I wasn't so fond of this. My family did really enjoy the com tam and banh mi chao. I only had one bite of each, but I would get these items again. Their drinks on the other hand, were delightful. I got the tamarind black tea and my step dad got the lychee green tea.
