This sweet little sushi place has become one of our family favorites. Good sushi at decent prices, nice comfortable atmosphere. The service has always been great. Came here to eat all you can eat sushi with a party of 4, after telling the server we wanted all you can eat they provided a sheet out on the table (that you usually fill out when you do all you can eat) but sadly this sheet is priced per item. The server could have told us as we are first time customers here and thought the fill out sheet was the one most sushi places offer when ayce is desired. After we asked our waiter why our bill was so expensive she said because we didn't ask her for all you can eat when It was the first thing we requested as we were approached. Delivery via Grubhub! Really terrible service from this eatery. They didn't Give me my Teriyaki sauce, or extra dressing (I paid for). Teriyaki is fried and horrid. No garnishes. When I called to say they left out Teriyaki "on the side" they said, "You wrote No sesame seeds Teriyaki on the side. Not NO sesame seeds, Teriyaki on the side." Then went on to explain that because I left out the comma, there's nothing they can do. However, what that would mean, LITERALLY, with the same logic is to put the Teriyaki ON the steak and on Chicken Teriyaki and to NOT put it on the side. Neither dish had a milliliter of T-sauce! They also didn't give us the dressing we paid for. Once again, they said, "Nothing we can do." My recourse? Amazing Alejandro from Grubhub! I was Refunded for both dishes. First time going here, super disappointed. Found a hair in my roll and told the manager. He offered to remake the roll but at that point we were grossed out. Normally, if a restaurant screws up your meal or the service, they will at least provide a discount or be more apologetic. He absolutely didn't care, wasn't even embarrassed about it. No wonder the low stars....you would think for the amount of money they charge, it would be better. There's also a lot of grayed out rolls you cannot get if you are doing AYCE. This is my family's favorite sushi restaurant in Temecula. The food is always fresh and delicious and they have great customer service. Service is very fast. They do not take reservations and for large parties they want the entire party there before they seat you, but they are a small very busy restaurant so this makes sense. We go there a lot with larger groups for birthdays etc. On one visit, a very rude adult customer made a mean comment to my son about a hat he was wearing. The manager/owner, who is always there when we go, came up to my son and told him that he should wear whatever he wants and that adult was out of place. They go above and beyond every time we go. Love that they hire teens, my boys always see a friend from school working there when we go to. Nice home town feeling. Always friendly staff love going here! read more

Everything has great flavor. Staff is always so friendly and attentive. Have been here a few times now and every time I have had a great experience. One time we ordered a hand roll that unfortunately they could not make due to not having any more yellow tail. The Sushi chef decided to make us something that was not on the menu as an apology and did not charge us for it. Service like this keeps customers coming back. Then he said we had to wait outside even though the restaurant was EMPTY. I've been in good service for years and I wouldn't be as rude to someone I hated as he was to us. I'm writing this review on behalf of the honey (since I'm allergic to seafood). We've come here alot to know this is his favorite sushi spot. I also like the all you can eat deal bc teriyaki chicken and other non-seafood items come with the all you can eat. Pretty damn good!! The honey loves it here and doesn't eat @ the other regular sushi spot anymore ever since he found Gin. I also noticed that the amount of rice they put in each sushi is not too thick and the fish slices are pretty thick, so you're getting a good roll. A downfall would be...when i ordered the veggie roll, i was hesitant to eat it bc it had like little orange things on it (im sure they didn't mean to put it there but of course they're making a while lot of sushi so there was probably cross contamination somewhere and they probably just made somebody's sushi before making my veggie roll) i broke out in hives after eating the veggie roll. I didn't have my epi pen or benadryl with me so we had to cut it short and buy benadryl @ Kmart. Planning to have dinner here for the boy's 18th next week. read more

Went to the restaurant with My family to celebrate my daughter getting into uc davis. We had a party of five and in the first round ordered 4 rolls per person. We had picked all you can eat. The waitress then comes over and says we cannot order that much food, we then say that we were going to eat all of it and if not we would pay extra for each roll we didnt finish. Since that was their policy, she the walks over to who appears to be the manager. The manager then storms up to the table. Says, "yeah we aren't making that much food" then proceeds to rip up the order paper in front of us then tells us to leave. He had these very aggressive mannerism unprovoked. It has been nearly 7 years since my original review and I thought of that review after eating here, once AGAIN, this past weekend. So, I revisited my original review... NOTHING has changed for me regarding my giving Gin Sushi my 5-Star rating, for the Temecula area! This includes vicarious ratings from my son / daughter-in-law & brother-in-law / sister-in-law, who ALWAYS want to eat here when in town! So, needless to say we have been patronizing Gin Sushi several times a year since my original review. There is a reason - Excellent food and service! Yes, we have been to a couple other sushi restaurants in between. But, we always gravitate back to Gin. In all the times we have been here I have NEVER witnessed the owner, or her supposed son (I know who reviewers are referring to), become hostile to patrons, chastise or make a fuss in public. I have no idea what some reviewers internal "pain tolerance" is when it comes to being confronted about issues THEY possibly initiated or provoked by their own actions. I read some reviews, with 1-Star, that mention the great food they serve here - but allege to have been treated so poorly they can't overcome it and bump it up to 3-Stars for an overall rating (makes since to me). This last feast we noticed some new changes to the AYCE menu, positive changes! Our waitress (I wish I knew her name) explained every new roll / dish with precision. We were quite impressed! We ended up trying several of them and enjoyed them all. This time around the proportion of seafood to rice (note original review pointing out this positive attribute) was even more generous than before, on all the sushi we consumed. The daughter-in-law opted not to do the AYCE and ordered a bowl of Japanese soup (don't recall the name). Albeit she did not pick off any sushi from our plates, she was not watched like a hawk (as some have pointed out) to ensure she didn't. We were served in a timely manner and never had our drinks go empty, as well. Yes, I am perplexed by some of the 1-Star reviews! As for me and my family - we will continue to patronize Gin Sushi. The food here has always been fresh and they have fresh wasabi. The service is just okay. I have had servers point at the order on your phone sign and walk away and I have had some decent service. The other day it was comically bad though. The brought out one of our two rolls. 25 minutes later I ask about the second. She said not to worry. It was on its way. Both sushi chefs were just standing there looking off into space so 10 minutes later I ask her to check. She does, realizes she forgot to put it in and said that now the chef was making it and sweetly apologized. 20 minutes later still roll has not arrived. We have to let her know it still has not arrived. She apologized and went to check. Turns out they made the wrong roll. She apologized and asked if she could bring us some edamame while we wait. Which was thoughtful. After waiting over an hour we got our very basic roll. When we got the check the edamame was on the bill. The way she said it we assumed it was free to make up for the multiple mess ups. It wasn't something we were going to argue with her about but on top of the other disasters and the wait, we won't be in a hurry to return. read more

We got there around 7:45pm .Got seated rather quickly it was a Thursday night and we were given a sheet of paper and pencil and asked what we wanted to drink. It was all gong great as we have been here before always have AYCE sushi. We order our rolls thru the sheet that was provided and then the waitress tells us its last call and if there was any last items we wanted to add so we did add 4 more rolls. We get the Bill and Its over $100 ! immediately I ask the waitress that there has been a mistake and she tells us that there is NO AYCE after 8PM ...Which then my wife and looked stunned . Nowhere did it state this policy and we checked for signs and nothing. We ask her why were we not made aware as we assumed we are ordering AYCE as we have the past few times we have been there. She is very young definitely under 21 and has a lack of experience dealing with customers which is fine , we ask to speak to the manager. Older lady walks up pretty sure she's the owner and we explain and told her we had no idea and were not made aware of this policy. She repeats her policy to us and was rude as if we where trying to rip them off and made us feel like we where bad customers. She then goes in to say that the sushi that was provided was made with extra stuff and not the AYCE way and expects us to pay the bill. We told her that fine we will pay as we would never not pay obviously and we tell her that we felt lied to and this policy should be stated in her restaurant and staff should make customer aware before serving them. She then states that its only so much more $$$ than the usual AYCE price. Which again is not the point we where never told of this policy and nowhere did it state that after 8pm you cant order aYCE its about the principal and we felt like they were ripping us off whether its $25 or $50 more than usual it doesn't matter.in the end we left our date night with a bad taste in our mouth regretting our decision to go there. We love to support local small business every time we can as Temeculans. Gin has become my go to spot for a while now. I always recommend it when someone asks about sushi. The interior is cute and cozy. The service is always nice and attentive. The food specials and drinks they have are awesome. The Gin roll is my favorite, and it's always a great deal. My other favorite is the Tempura Udon; the best! Oh man...words cannot express what happened to me after eating at Gin Sushi. The Sushi "Cleanse". If you are someone that can tolerate their strange sushi creations, enjoy. If you are like the dozens of people that tried my orders, RUN! First of all, for taste I would rate them a 4 out of 5. Pretty decent.. Nice combinations of ingredients that constitute their various sushi rolls...I was a happy camper. BUT (or should I say BUTT), not long after eating about 16 pieces of sushi all hell broke loose. I had a gastrointestinal experience like nothing I've ever imagined. Cramps, sweating, bloating beyond my worst nightmare. I've had food poisoning from some bad shellfish before and that was almost like a skip in the park compared to what was going on inside me. Then came the, uh, flatulence. Heavens to Murgatroyd, the sounds, like trumpets calling the demons back to Hell...the stench, like 1,000 rotten corpses vomited. I couldn't stand to stay in one room for fear of succumbing to my own odors. But wait; there's more. What came out of me felt like someone tried to funnel Niagara Falls through a coffee straw. I swear my sphincters were screaming. It felt like my delicate starfish was a gaping maw projectile vomiting a torrential flood of toxic waste. 100% liquid. Flammable liquid. NAPALM. It was actually a bit humorous (for a nanosecond) as it was just beyond anything I could imagine possible. AND IT WENT ON FOR HOURS. I felt violated when it was over, which I think might have been sometime in the early morning of the next day. There was stuff coming out of me that I ate at my friend's wedding in 2011. I had just 3 rolls of these innocent-looking delicious-tasting sushi rolls so I told a friend about what happened to me, thinking it HAD to be some type of sensitivity I had to whatever additives they are using, and in spite of my warnings and graphic descriptions, she decided to take her chances and give them a try. This is our favorite sushi spot. Always fresh, prices are low, and the staff is exceptional. We haven't been since all the shut downs and were craving sushi! They had 6-8 tables outside, plenty of seating spaced apart from other groups. GORGEOUS Temecula weather and the service was top notch. Platings were beautiful and the fish fresh. Always love coming here, I use to work right around the corner so whenever I had lunch or got off early I would always come for a roll or all you can eat, prices did go up but that's because everything around is also going up so that shouldn't blame on them but always recommend all you can eat, it's almost 40 dollars and if you don't finish a dish you will have to pay extra but if you a big appetite and love sushi I recommend coming here.
