We have slowly become more discerning about what we consider good sushi. After three visits, we found Sushi boat to be priced right sushi. Food: vibrant colors in the fish, a fresh aroma, sticky (not mushy) rice, sufficiently firm fish, and all served visually appealing. You get a bit more than what you pay for. Also, just for sitting down you get free, tasty edamame. Service: prompt but not rushed, friendly, willing to respectfully assist with menu, and seemingly non judgmental towards fork or sugar users. Ambiance: great for dates, family, or solo bar service. It didn't feel like you are at a mall. The booths give a feeling of privacy. Price: this was a great bang for your buck. The establishment has been here for 10+ years and there have been some major changes/improvements. They have changed interior to make it look more intimate or private for customers. It's better for domestic couples or for a family meal (would advise against coming here for a date as there could be more places to get to know someone with a better setting). As it's located in a mall, you can park in a structure or in a nearby spot in the parking lot. My party ordered the Lunch Box (Bento Box), Mixed Tempura, Winchester Roll, and the Chirashi bowl. The total price, with tip, came to about $80. In reference to the food, we had edamame that was served cold (yes, it can be prepared and served either warm or cold, but the taste was not present and the flesh did not break/flatten easily). The side salad was a little bland due to the vegetables used. I've found that spring mix is better vs. the cabbage used in their salad (doesn't absorb the dressing as well). The chirashi bowl prioritized looks over the ability to eat and blend ingredients well. It was hard to eat with all the food stacked in large portions on top. There was no nori, shiso, or roe mixed with the rice. Bonus: You can get complimentary green tea ice cream after your meal. The servers were nice. The environment was a generally clean and well-kept place. However, with a large amount of options, the food could still be improved upon. read more

We haven't been to this place in awhile, but we were craving something healthy at the mall and sushi was the first thing that came to our mind. The owner? Manager created us right away as he always does each time and we were quickly seated. Service was impeccable and attentive as always and this is probably my favorite part about this restaurant. The sashimi portions are generous and the plate was beautifully served. We order 3 rolls on top of the 15 sashimi pieces and it was more than enough for our party of 4. 2 kids and 2 adults. Our kids love sushi so they can eat as much as a grown adult on good days. We came early before the dinner crowd so it was not very busy and quiet. I go to this place frequently. It is my favorite sushi place. I've gone here for many years for family birthdays, events, graduations, my whole family loves this place. Never once have I gotten sick. It is the most clean, peaceful environment that you could possibly have at the promenade mall I was there today with my sister it's a frequent spot for us. For context both my sister and I are customer service managers. I've been in the service for five years and she has been in for one year and so we both know good service when we see it. There was a mom and two girls who were disgustingly rude they were impatient when they ordered to go order but ate at a table.. they got their order in a plastic bag, and they ripped through it, almost immediately making a mess and not even making sure that the order was correct, she immediately called over the owner and started complaining about how her sushi was not wrapped in rice paper when indeed it was wrapped in rice paper and immediately wanted a refund. I've known the owner not personally but he's always been the sweetest person and the most caring. He made sure they had everything that they needed that he asked them if they wanted any wasabi, soy sauce, spicy mayo, even with his kindness she got annoyed with how much that he was asking so she shewed him off after she immediately requested a refund for an order that was already correct that she didn't even look at it. The owner was trying to make it better by offered them free ice cream even went to the back and grabbed two Asian sodas and offered them to them for free.. the mom refused to acknowledge him and the two girls were too busy on their phones to answer. Again I LOVE this place he knows my family and my sisters as the "banana roll with no banana" as it's a popular roll with my family. He is a extremely hard worker and a very active store manager seeing that type of disrespect towards him was heartbreaking! As I stated that I work in customer service and I know how hard it is to show up and be so kind to people who don't deserve it. We were seated promptly and were given iced lemon waters, but we were a party of three and we waited over five minutes for the third water to arrive. Food was delivered at a reasonable time. All three rolls were missing flavor. The spicy tuna in particular lacked flavor, not spicy at all and was presented so messy! Not visually appealing at all. Teriyaki chicken had burnt areas causing the chicken to taste burnt overall. Salmon was over cooked. Originally we asked for the spicy pork, but that was not available. Reasonable competitive prices compared to other sushi establishments. Great choice of music playing in the background. Also, they do offer a complimentary matcha ice cream, which was delicious. Sadly, I don't think I will come back. Presentation and flavor is the biggest part of the dining experience and this restaurant missed the mark. read more

Sushi Boat has been one of the few go-to Japanese food spots in the area that I enjoy with my family. Its located outside of the Temecula Promenade Mall kind of near the location of the food court and outside escalators. During this visit, I went with my parents during lunch as it opened up at 11:30 in the morning. We were quickly seated in the middle of the restaurant. Sushi Boat is a nice large restaurant with many booths and tables around. I like the privacy of the booths! Their menu has a very large variety of appetizers, udon, sushi rolls, boxes, sashimi combos, salads, and entrees. It made it so difficult for me to pin down what to eat as everything is always so good coming from Sushi Boat. During this visit, we ordered two sushi rolls. We ordered their Albacore Delight roll and to be honest, I don't remember the name of the second roll. Oops! Either way, both rolls were fresh, delicious, and good in size. I ordered their bento box with sashimi, vegetable tempura, and tonkatsu. The tonkatsu was perfectly fried to a crisp but moist on the inside, the tempura was fried with a nice crunch and not oily while the tuna and salmon sashimi was very fresh with a nice clean taste to it. In the bento box, it came with a nice serving of rice and a mixed salad with a delicious sesame-type dressing. With lunch, it came with a nice miso soup. Was great on that cold, gloomy day! Warmed us up perfectly! After a meal, they ended our meal with a nice scoop of green tea ice cream. Always such a highlight! Its creamy, slightly sweet with a nice light green tea taste. Sushi Boat is always a great choice and I wish I didn't wait so long to come back! Service is excellent! Came here unintentionally and i'm so glad I did. Originally was supposed to go to another spot but they were way too busy so we came here and go seated right away. We ordered the Teriyaki Chicken plate and the House Roll. All of it was AMAZING. What also shocked me was how reasonably priced everything was. The inside is very spacious and they also have outside seating as well. From start to finish our host and server were very welcoming and attentive. I havent been here in quite awhile now but i felt that a review was long overdue. I have gone to this place for literal years when i have the chance and always had a really pleasant time. The inside of the restaurant is pretty and clean and the servers are always very nice. All the food ive tried here has been good but my go-to sushi are the spicy tuna roll, white dragon, and volcano scallop. Ive also tried the bento box which was tasty too. Many times ive been there the owner has been working and bussing tables and has even said hello to us acknowledging that he remembers our faces, which is always nice. I dont know if they still do this but they used to give you a small scoop of ice cream complimentary if you dined in. read more

So what did we order the right stuff? Takoyaki. Cuter than normal smaller bite size little guys. Some would complain they are smaller than usual Takoyaki. But these are actually full over flavor. Just the right amount of squid inside and not too much batter with plenty sauce: it's the perfect ratio of ingredients. And the nice crunch on the outside was just perfect. Perfect iteration of an izakaya or sushiya staple, this is a must order as tasty app. Sushi Pepper. Jalapeño pepper in crunchy batter, filled with mix of cream cheese and spicy tuna. Super tasty combo that just melts in the mouth. Just the perfect blend of savory, salty flavors with the creamy cheese. Definite recommend. Spicy Tuna Makuzushi. Tasty, not too salty. The mashed up kind we like. Recommend. Spicy Tuna Temakizushi. Hand roll. Good size. Same kind of spicy tuna found in the maki roll. Unfortunately, no crunch option ala places like Kura Sushi. Otherwise has crunchy veggies. Recommend. Agedashi Tofu. Super tasty. While not the best since it was just a touch soggy, and maybe the flavor wasn't as soaked in intense as some others we've had. Still solid. Recommend. Inari and Tamago Nigirzushi. Solid pieces. Good flavor, texture, and well made. (Compare to tamago from Kura, which always falls apart.) Seemingly a bit on the smaller side.
